Fantastic! I was a little leary based on reviews but we had a great experience. We arrived about 9p after driving down from LG & miss Maria had our room passcard ready so check-in was super easy. Our king bed room was largish & clean with plenty of space to move around the bed & furnishings. The wall heater is small but mighty & most importantly pretty quiet. Windows open easily & you can just hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. The ocean is only 1/4 mile away so you have cold air if you want the windows open. Our king bed was great. Perfectly firm, no low or soft spots at all, & we had a solid lovely sleep. Shower pressure was to be extpected for a small town. You're not going to get a blasting shower but it's not low pressure, it's average & plenty to get showered. It was dark when we arrived but the morning view was beautiful and the ocean is clearly visible when fog isn't preventing it. Businesses close "early" here. If you want to eat out, be here by 7:30. Otherwise eat in SLO or bring something. There is a small place nearby for drinks, pool, & karaoke (on a friday at least) that stays open a little later plus a small store (wine) but nothing is open after 10 and the closest gas station we saw is down in Cambria. We wish we had more time at Sea Breeze & would not hesitate to stay again. read more

I normally do not review hotels/inns, but I thoroughly enjoyed this place! Online, it looks like an inn/motel from the outside, but the inside of the rooms are super clean and well kept. This is one of the cheaper places to stay in the area so I wasn't expecting anything good, but it blew my expectations away. There is a large parking lot, and the rooms have microwaves, empty refrigerators, shampoo/conditioner, ocean views, hair dryer, iron + ironing board. The only negative was the weak water pressure, but overall a great bang for your buck! read more

My boyfriend reserved this place for us, one night stay, so that we could be close to an education course that was happening in San Luis Obispo the following morning. We didn't arrive until late, like 9pm because we took the drive after work on a Friday. The front desk person, Maria, was quite lovely. Very nice and friendly personality. We had a room with an ocean view, it was amazing to hear the ocean waves crashing and hear the lovely birds singing in the early morning. It was really hard to get out of bed because the bed was super comfortable. We had a king size bed and the bedroom was huge. Lots of areas to set your luggage and also lots of plugs for our digital necessities. iPhones, tablets, watch charger, etc. It was pleasantly quiet when we got back around 11 from enjoying Karaoke at a nearby bar. It was nice to have that available because we weren't ready for bed when we arrived. Plenty of parking available and I felt safe there. I say that because San Simeon is quite the small town with lots of open space to walk out to the beach. Can be creepy to me, but didn't feel like that here. There's also a liquor store nearby if you need to pick up wine, bottled water, or snacks. I want to go back there for sure! read more

Nice rooms. It is very quiet if you have quiet neighbors next door. The room was clean. It was a bit chilly at night, but they had a heater. The bed was very comfy. The view from a window is also good. There was hot water in the shower. The receptionist waited on us until 12 p.m.; we had an issue with a car and were running late. The lady who checked us in was very nice and they sent somebody to snake out the toilet, which wouldn't flush. I was concerned that meant the room wouldn't be clean and the refrigerator stunk and had puddles on the glass shelves. The shower has no water pressure whatsoever and a small device which appears as a dehumidifier or heater comes on for a minute every twenty minutes or so, whether it's needed or not. Like others, I didn't want to touch the small wall device, so I left both windows open to keep the room aired out. You can enjoy the sounds of the waves at night, juxtaposed with loud snoring from the next room over. The wifi works with a password, but the DHCP lease doesn't last more than an hour, so you constantly must re-login. The pillows are uncomfortable and made my neck sore. Most stuff in San Simeon is terrible and overpriced...nothing should get 5-stars, but this property could get 4-stars if it did regular maintenance and cleaning. It doesn't have an eatery attached like some of the adjacent hotels. Beach access is easy at the end of the street and you'll notice a small cadre of folks who drive or walk at sunrise and sunset. The actual rooms had some updating done in the last decade (the tile style gives it away) but they really need maintenance and cleaning. read more

The room heater built into the outside wall rattled and clanked super loud. It shut on and off constantly all night. Sometimes only coming on for 30 seconds then shutting off for a minute then on for a minute and off again just long enough for me to fall asleep then the misss firing jet engine would start up again! I understand how thermostats work but this was just on, off, on, off, rattle, shake... Don't come here if you want to sleep. read more

don't go here expecting a fancy place to stay. Go here for an inexpensive yet comfortable bed with a terrific view. Located conveniently along 101 in San Simeon, it was very easy to find with lots of parking. I talked to Maria several times to confirm my reservations and ask questions because I booked the room through Expedia. The rooms are a good size, they are dated but were clean and the beds were superior with superior linens. We stayed in room 121 and the view was superb. The hotel is not that close to the beach, but you can hear the ocean all night through the open windows. I'd stay here again for sure. Just a wonderful place to stay if you can live with something not fancy. read more

It's not fancy or high end, but the short walk to the cliff and shore, along with the beautiful open fields and serene environment makes it a lovely spot. It's clean and convenient. The front desk is only open until 11, however the kind attendant was nice and checked up on us to make sure we're getting there as we had some car issues. Sea Breeze Inn is a small hotel that has maybe about 20 rooms. It's located off the highway and very easy to find. When you get to the Inn it resembles more of a motel appearance and could definitely work on it's appearance. The rooms are nice with the beds and pillows being quite comfortable. The bathroom looked like it had been newly remodeled and was lovely. The hotel provided soaps, shampoo, condition, lotion, and even a shower cap. There was also a coffee maker. The only thing that I didn't like about the room is that it had a strange funny smell to it. I don't know if it was mold or something- but it was unpleasant. With regards to amenities and facilities. the hotel had a small pool that was gated. Sadly, there was no jacuzzi. There was no breakfast or even coffee in the office. They did you give you a 15% off coupon for Big Sur Restaurant across the street. The shocker of my stay with the hotel is that there is a beach literally right behind you! Within a few minutes of walking, you can get to the beach! It was lovely and so convenient. Overall, there is much to be desired at this Inn. There are definitely things they could work on and improve. I'm not sure if I would stay again- I think I would around for something else. read more

If you advertise an ocean view it would be great if guests could see through the windows. The room is large but without air conditioning. A ceiling fan is installed above the bed but buzzes loudly when turned on. The wiring hung along the outside of the building made me fearful that the noisy fan was about to start an electrical fire. It's a passable room only because of the proximity to the ocean front but I think I would look for something better next time. read more

I was contemplating in not writing a review; however, it was buggy me. Last week, my husband and I stayed at this hotel. Issues We experienced: #1. The front door in our room needed weatherstripping badly. #2. My husband and I where in our room relaxing and making sandwiches. I was changing my clothes until I heard someone scanned their wireless key card and opened it half ways, if not for the door chain lock they would have seen me half naked. I immediately thought of the scary movie, I've seen recently. I screamed loud and my husband and I stared at each other in shock of what happened. I got my clothes on again and my husband and I went to the office and explain what happened. The staff gave the key for our room to a guest/stranger. I know we are all human and make mistakes, however, this one I mean come on man. #3. We missed our favorite show. They had the child lock on the T.V and they wouldn't give us the password. At least they could do, is give us the password, since they messed up with the keys for our room and giving it to a guest/ strangers. What is nice about this hotel? It's near the ocean and hiking trails. You don't have cross the freeway to access that. read more

My husband found this motel while searching online. Right along Highway 1 but removed enough that traffic noise is not an issue. Fast and easy access to Hearst Castle, Cambria and the elephant seal viewing area, though you have to drive to all 3 places. Nice view from the window. It appears as if the rooms have been redone and upgraded. We found the mattress and pillows to be comfy. Also the bathroom was clean. The woman at the front desk who checked us in was super friendly and helpful. My husband's former manager retired over 20 years ago and bought a small farm in Cambria. The woman hadn't heard of the farm but she directed us to the road where the farm is located. Probably the only downside is that you can hear the people in the rooms next door if they are speaking loudly, but I wear earplugs when I sleep. I would return here if we visit San Simeon again. read more

Very disappointed with our stay. After staying in The Quality Inn across the hwy last Thanksgiving, this place had very little to offer to make us want to return. What stood out the most were - an empty pool, no Jacuzzi, hardly any visble staff. When staff was contacted, there wasn't a modicum of warmth or friendliness usually present at most motels. When we arrived, we were told there would be a power outage between 4-5PM. The total power outage lasted until almosr 2AM. I realize that it wasn't the motel's fault, but when asked if we could have a discount or redeemable coupon for a future visit. The answer was , "No, because it wasn't our fault." We were 6 adults and one child in three rooms for two nights and we didn't even get a "Sorry, for any inconvenience." We missed the NFL playoffs! I forgot to add, their beds are nice and the rooms were very clean. Almost as good as across the road. The pillows though will put a crick in your neck. This place is okay if you only need a one night stay and don't pay too much. No breakfast either. We all found that prettyt bizarre taking into account the distance from town. They can't even do a pot of fresh coffee and bread to toast for their guests? I guess we got spoled by Quality Inn. Big breakfast and a cheaper price there! read more

Disaster... Over $300 for a Saturday night living in a motel room like this one? I call it a daylight ROBBERY!!! I would be more than happy to spend less than $100 per night during weekdays or no more than $150 per night on Friday or Saturday, Which is the normal price on bookings, even have lower price. I checked on bookings, norma Plus, the sea view is not satisfactory at all. Super small window, and there are houses in the front to block your view. The front desk has no service. There is no hairdryer in our room and she asked us to go downstairs and grab it from the desk. Yeah, it's just a regular motel, what service could I expect for? We booked several hotels ranging $300-400 per night, this one's quality, ambience, service definitely does NOT match the price. Even there is festival or somewhat happen here. The owner should be shamed for charging/rob this much. read more

It's VERY unfortunate that I am writing this review - The front desk lady was very friendly and efficient when I checked in last night. This morning when I went to return the key I asked her "Do you know why I'm upset?" - and she sheepishly replied "yes". The first problem was my room was SUPER hot without an air conditioner - so for the first half hour in the room I had to leave the front door and all the windows open just to get to a comfortable temperature. Not the end of the world and if that was the only problem I wouldn't be writing this. I could hear the TV in one of the rooms next to mine pretty clearly - so the walls are unfortunately thin. Not really managements fault but still not cool... again, not the end of the world. I could deal with it for the price. Then around midnight a drunken woman entered the other room next to mine - and had the inability or unwillingness to control the volume of her voice - I could hear every stupid thing she was saying VERY clearly. It was about an hour after that before she finally was quiet - So I finally fell asleep around 1 - 2AM. At 8:30 this morning I could hear a vacuum running clear as day in the next room over. After not sleeping very well that was annoying. Note to management: People come out to the coast to relax - if I wanted to be woken up inconsiderately I could have stayed home and let my neighbor do it. This is a fault of management wanting to clean early. You should really wait until after 10 or so to begin sending out the cleaning people. The worst part of my experience however began about 15 minutes later around 8:45 - I slept in an upstairs room so I wondered why I heard someone stomping around above me... back and forth with loud heavy steps... and the sound of someone pushing rocks with a broom. All hope of getting anymore sleep was off the table and this point and I went from annoyed to slightly angry - and just a few minutes later the sawzall starting running - BEFORE 9 AM... construction right above my room. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! Note to management: You may think because you got my money last night that you can do whatever you want without considering your customers experience... that's not good business and it's very inconsiderate on your part. Construction before 9AM above a paying customer???? What were you guys thinking???! Inconsiderate jerks. As far as the motel room - it was relatively clean... ample amount of towels. The bed was comfortable for the few hours I got to use it... I'm a pretty easy going guy and don't have super high standards but the noise was just unacceptable - and the construction above my room ridiculous. So if you are reading this and thinking to stay here please consider that management here makes poor decisions that may be inconsiderate to your experience. An hour later and there is still at least one person stomping around on the roof. I was going to book this place for another night until my experience this morning and instead I booked the Days Inn across the street for about 10 bucks more. I'll pay the extra few bucks if it means better management and a more considerate experience. If noise from thin walls or a loud vacuum before 9AM bother you stay elsewhere. The lady at the front desk was doing her job but I can't say the same for the rest of the people who run this place. Won't be back in spite of liking the price and location of the motel. Noisy, noisy, place with inconsiderate management. I understand that construction has to be done for maintenance on the place. However the time frame was just plain wrong for us paying customers. After 10 would be reasonable... a warning the previous morning would also have worked I waited a day before posting this review so I didn't post it when I was angry. :( Today - I'm just disappointed. The Sea Breeze Inn is clean, efficient, and affordable. The Ocean view is legitimate. I spent a week here primarily because it was inexpensive ( about 3x 4x less than the Moonstone Beach motels). Look, I've stayed in "ocean view" in Hawaii and have had to step on a patio chair to actually see the view. Sea Breeze had a nice view, and you could walk right down to the beach from your room. Make sure before you book a room with them that highway 1 is not closed. I made the mistake of not checking and couldn't get to the property because the highway was closed because of a landslide. When I disputed the cancellation fee they told me they new the highway was shut down for some time but they were going to charge me anyway. read more

Easy to find, affordable, and near the beach. The room was a nice size and and clean. No weird smells. Came with a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was huge but struck me more of a public bathroom than a bathroom that belongs in a motel. The only thing I noticed was that whoever cleaned the room forgot to throw away the soap from the last occupant (ew, see pic). This is the first time I've experienced something like that. Anyway, we stayed there so we could visit Hearst Castle. It was only a 7 minute drive away so this was really convenient for a one night stay. Oh, there is no more free breakfast apparently. They give you a voucher which you have to pay cash for and then take it to a nearby restaurant and choose from 3 breakfast options which are $7.50 each if I remember correctly. You can also get a 12% off coupon for dinner at the same restaurant at the front desk. To be honest though I would not mind staying here again because it was affordable and really close to our destination and I'm sure leaving he soap was just human error. read more

We were very pleased with our recent stay at the Sea Breeze Inn - especially for the price paid. It was roughly half of the price that we paid for a room near Morro Rock the previous night and probably double in terms of quality. The location was terrific -- walking distance to the cliffs and beach, and to a nice walk through a meadow to a hilltop overlooking the ocean. With easy access to the highway, but with the sound of ocean waves rather than highway noise. Close to Hearst Castle, and to the Cambria where we walked along the Moonstone Beach boardwalk. While the furniture in the room was somewhat dated, the mattress and linens seemed new and very comfortable. The bathroom and carpeting seemed to have been recently remodeled. Loved the plantation blinds and the ceiling fan. Super clean. Plus, there was a mini-fridge and microwave. We did not use the pool. Our only disappointment was that there wasn't an option for an on-site breakfast. read more

I've been coming to San Simeon for years and always stayed next to the shore side. Most of the hotels/motels with a good price in this part of town gets overbooked very quickly. I got lucky that there was a spot on this hotel. They offer free parking, which is a big parking lot right off the main road; free continental breakfast, free wifi, and easy access to the beach. At first I got to the front desk and no one was there so I rang the bell twice, still no one. I started to get worried since it's late at night and I was tired from driving. So I started heading out and luckily found the rep in the next room (laundry room) folding blankets . Armando, nice guy! I couldn't have been so excited to get to my room as I dropped my bags on the floor when I realized there's no AC at all. Granted it's next to ocean but the windows were closed and made the room so stuffy and hot. With sweat dropping my forehead, "how did I not know that there's no AC on this place?". Armando was nice enough to lend me an electric fan that I had sat next to the opened window to get the fresh air going. The room was fairly clean as well as the bathroom. The bed was on the firm side which I like and the sheets and beddings are comfortable an A+ to me. No gym, no business center, no restaurant. The Hotel is about 3-5 minute drive to Hearst Castle's gate, about 5 minute drive to Cambria's town where you can find more restaurants, boutiques, etc. as well the Moonstone beach park, 10 minute drive to Fiscalini Ranch Reserve, and 15 minute drive to the elephant seal lookout. I travel quite frequently and I have standards to feel comfortable away from home, but there are also things that you just can't control. I never rely on free breakfast and free wifi. San Simeon is pretty far still from civilization I think and that's why I pick to come to this place every year --to unplug myself from the world. There's plenty of spots here that you will never get signal. I can live without internet for a day or two or for a few hours, but music I can't...so I brought my own Bose speaker so I can have some music in my room, brought some wine and just chill looking out the ocean...just relax. No people, no Facebook, just me and nature. Bring: what's necessity to you? Food, water, wine, milk (for my protein shake after my hike), music, book, etc. do not rely on the hotel staff to provide you everything. What they will provide are the basics...always think that, that's what makes a good traveller. Overall, Im pretty satisfied with this hotel. The staff is polite and helpful, close to the things I love to visit, and direct access to the beach/shore. Very quiet hotel and guests/traffic are considerate to each other. I will definitely stay again and highly recommend this to anyone. read more

This hotel is okay. It's clean and good for staying over night if you want to visit Hearst Castle. The rooms aren't super expensive.. we paid $96 on a Saturday night for 3 people. But it's not the best. My main concern is the thinness of the walls. As I'm writing this I can hear a baby whining and a dad trying to calm her down to one side of our room.. and two men talking really loudly on the other side. Every time someone opens a door it sounds like they are slamming it. The thing is maybe people aren't even being that loud.. it just sounds like it because of the acoustics. I don't really like listening to their conversations.. in fact they woke me up. I wear ear plugs when I sleep and I could still hear all of this going on.. major bummer. The other problem is that the outlets are few and far between. We had 3 phones to charge after our trip down the coast and there was a lot of unplugging/rustling around looking for outlets in our room. Ocean view is okay. Nothing breathtaking but it's pretty. Free wifi is great! There's a mini fridge (that we unplugged so we could charge a phone) and a coffee maker (also unplugged to charge a phone). Additionally, there is a microwave, tv, and iron that we didn't use. Glad we are on the 2nd floor if it's this loud.. 1st is probably the worst. I'd probably stay here again because it's not that terrible or anything. Well, the baby just started crying/screaming. Maybe I wouldn't stay here again. read more

I agree with many of the other favorable reviews. For a budget hotel (got it for $49 a night on booking.com) it was really good. Firm bed, room was clean including the bathroom. We left our window open from room 114 and could hear the ocean all night. I would definitely stay there again. It was right next to the Morgan that I spent $130 for about the same type of room the last time I was there....you do the math....more to spend on wine. read more

From some of the reviews I read about this place, I was a little wary of what to expect for my first visit to San Simeon. Located approximately 3 miles from Hearst Castle, Sea Breeze Inn is a quaint little place to stay for your quick trip in a beautiful part of central California. I was surprised the rooms were pretty decent looking. It's overall an older building, but you can tell they recently renovated it with new paint, furniture, fixtures, and TV's. If you are curious of what the rooms look like, I posted pictures. The continental breakfast isn't the greatest, but people shouldn't really complain of complimentary food. There's the typical cereal, muffins, fruit, coffee, and waffles. The price was reasonable $79/night. read more

We were in San Simeon, and the motel we reserved at, cancelled our room. Then did nothing to tell us that we had no room for the night. No names.. but their initials are D.I. The Sea Breeze here, I used www.hoteltonight.com. I got the room for $65. Great price! However the Sea Breeze wanted $59. Then on top of that is the $8 tax & Fee. Total is $73. So before you use the internet, check the front desk. Great room, great firm bed. 40" flat screen! Rm 105 hardly any water pressure, and the ice machine is right behind the wall here. It runs and dumps ice all night long. So bring a white noise generator! read more

We stayed here for 3 nights at $61 per night. Got a great deal through agoda. For the price, this was excellent. Service at the front desk was straightforward. There are two floors to this establishment, but no elevators, so keep that in mind. The carpets lining the second floor hallway are stained. The outdoor windows are dirty with many spider webs. One of our room keys did not work. The room itself was clean, and we wiped the tables down out of precaution and did not come up with any dust. The amenities worked fine such as the TV and fridge. The tissue box was empty when we arrived. The internet speed is unstable but usable, and I was able to work on emails and browse youtube with minimal problems. There were several ants roaming about in one corner of the room. The bed was clean and comfortable. There is no A/C, which is surprising, but the fan and sea breeze flowing through an open window kept us from overheating. As you can see, there are quite a few issues, but for the price, this place is worth it. If you are expecting a five star hotel experience, go somewhere else. read more

We were looking for a last minute, fairly inexpensive place to stay in the Cambria/San Simeon area (made our reservation the day before). I wish I could give it a 2.5 star rating, but I'll round up because my husband gives it a 3 star. As others have said, from the outside it looks rather bad. It's old, the stairways on the outside of the building are sort of rickety and the parking lot has trash bins in view of the road. No frills. Also, the walls are thin. Yes, we could hear the people in the room next door having a conversation and we could almost make out what they were saying. :) A couple of other cons: people smoking outside our window, breakfast is completely carbalicious (no fruit, no protein). I'm gluten intolerant, so I couldn't eat anything they offered (I'm used to it so I brought my own breakfast). Towels are teeny hotel towels. Rooms are small. The good...the inside was fairly clean (carpet was a little nasty, but not too bad) and we were upstairs on the very end (meaning neighbors on only one side). We did have a view of the ocean and we could hear it at night too. The hotel faces Hwy 1, but it wasn't loud at night b/c the corridor outside has windows that you can close to help block the noise. Other pros: close to the ocean...a short walk to beach access. Conditioner is offered as well as shampoo. Microwave, small fridge, coffee maker and a decent flat screen TV are in the room. Also, it looked fairly recently painted, and the bed seemed nice and firm. We did not use the wi-fi so I can't comment on how well it worked. Would we stay here again? This was horrible! They cancelled two hotel rooms my family getting away to San Simeon, Ca. for Thanksgiving weekend!!! We booked two hotels with Agoda at The Sea Breeze Hotel over a month ago. And one week before(Today, 11/20/19) they are cancelling due to "renovation" on the hotel. It turns out to be a straight out lie! There are still rooms available at this hotel for 3 times as much now for this weekend! This leaves me with scrambling to find a place for 5 people to stay that weekend, last minute at top prices. What a scam!!!! Agoda is still selling rooms for this hotel too (For Thanksgiving weekend 3 times as much of course). I accessed this from Expedia, the site that lists several different companies at the best price. Be aware of the scams going on here!! Hope you are wise to not get taken by these scammers!! Sea Breeze you ought to be ashamed for allowing these companies to book your rooms and treat people so expedable. read more

If you have a very high standard and expect a high end place to sleep in go somewhere else. Motel looks a bit run down from the outside but the rooms are beautiful. The bathroom looks pretty fancy, except for the tear on the shower curtain which is no biggie. The front desk staff was very nice and friendly. The office closes at 11pm, and we came almost at 11pm since we drove from San Francisco right when I got off work. She was understandable and made sure we were checked properly and not rushed. The view is amazing, if you open the window you can hear the waves crashing. It's very cozy. I would stay here again. read more
