I'll take this weather any day!
    Sarah D.

This was a last minute booking for us. We went on a Sunday and planned on coming back home only looking at the temperature for Monday being at 116... we were like no thank you! So we stayed and had a great time. We got a room with two queen beds. I'm really picky when it comes to clean beds and sheets and these were in excellent condition. We made friends with the staff at the front desk. They were adorable! This place is dog friendly. They asked for 25 per dog which we thought was a great deal so we did it and our dogs were happy to be there. There was a store and a restaurant nearby that was walking distance and access to the beach was directly across the street. San Simeon did not disappoint... We loved it and will be back for more... You should check it out if ur out on a an adventure!

Wash cloths used to clean bathroom floor

The floors were so dirty they turned our socks and feet black. I took two wash cloths and used them to clean the bathroom floor turning them black. ( see attached photo) I went took the wash cloths to the front desk to show them how dirty the floors were. The person that came out of back was uncaring and appeared upset that I was bothering him. The only thing he was concerned with was as he put it was that he didn't appreciate that I had ruined the wash cloths. You would think for the price that is charged for the night they could at least mop the floors.

    Something black on the toilet

This place is so trash! Horrible service! They literally make you wait until 3:00 on the dot to check in. You can be inside and the zumahh lady doesnt greet you or even let you know anything just expects you to read the signs. Then greets you by "id and debit card" and the bathroom so dirty for having to wait until 3pm to check in. The tvs are so outdated and gotta have heart surgery to figure out how to get the cable on. Bathroom towels are super thin and small. Not worth the stay. And the lady didnt even let me know when checkout time was, rude as f

First time staying here. I always judge a motel/hotel by its bedding. So...I was pleasantly surprised by the white linens. The bed was hard. Room was small. And there was barely enough room to walk around. Regardless, I was happy with it - for the price and location. I'll never understand why these beach motels won't upgrade their properties. The front desk, male manager was kinda meh. Slightly arrogant. Fine. Whatever. It worked for what we needed. We needed the beautiful beach, fresh air and perfect weather!

The bed is miserable. The shower is weak. The coffee pot is broken and there was no blow dryer. We won't be staying here again.

I had a sofa and it was roomy. The bathtub was left over from an era gone by when hotels had spa tubs. The tub was still there but the jets did not work anymore. My only complaint about the bathroom is that the oilers are too low and the water level in them Is too high for the bowl. Several times I dipped my hand into dirty water trying to get clean. Uhh!! The hotel is centrally located. Very close to Hearst Castle and the town of Cambria where most of the trade located. I would definitely go back again.

The entrance of the hotel was very promising, but it all came down with the experience that followed. We were standing at the desk for 25 mins, no one came to help us check in. In those 25 mins we kept calling, and we could hear the phone ring, but no one answered. From the same room the receptionist came out after half an hour. He had a foul smell coming from that room, although I dont want to comment on what the smell was. After we were provided the room, the room was dirty, there were soiled towels in the bathroom, bedsheets were soiled, and not replaced. When we mentioned this to the receptionist, he provided a different room on the same floor. The room was facing the parking lot, had ONLY A CEILING FAN, A TABLE FAN, AND NO AIR CONDITIONING. One of the bulbs in the new room was not working either, it was flickering the whole time. The sofa was dirty, and stained, and I didnt feel comfortable using it anyways. The only positive of the room was the pressure of the shower, but the spray modes were not working. Overall a very poor experience.

In that the ocean view rooms were old and worn. Dirty curtains. Popcorn ceilings. Lots of things patched together. Small rooms and really dark. I was initially disappointed when we got into our first room. It was not at all what the pictures showed. Being initially on the downstairs unit people would walk by our patio while we're sitting there. Basically looking at us and disturbing our peace. Our 2nd unit was upstairs. Which was a lot better. As we had more privacy and a better view of the ocean. But basically the same layout as downstairs. There were alot of things I enjoyed about this resort, which ultimately left me satisfied with my stay here. For example: 1. The grounds was beautiful and expansive. Lots of greenery. They had a sand volleyball court. Multiple fire pits. A giant chess and checkers board. Multiple areas to sit along the cliff. 2. View from the balcony was unmatched. You have a very expansive and view of the ocean. We werent beach front. We were the ocean view balcony rooms. But it was nice too because you were able to see the grounds of the resort leading into the ocean. Rocking chairs and table too were a nice touch on the balcony. 3. Nice beach access and super close too. No street crossing or dodging cars. 4. Front desk. They moved our rooms (to an upstairs room) with no issues. They also have complimentary toiletries at the front desk. 5. Fire place. Our rooms had fire places. With a lot of compressed wood chip bricks. It definitely warmed up the room and made it so much more romantic. 6. Parking. They have parking right infront of your room. So there isnt that much walking from your vehicle to the room. 7. During the weekdays there was no one here!! You literally had the entire resort to yourself which was amazing!! 8. Close proximity to Cambria as well as the elephant seal viewpoint, as well as many other points of interest. Things that could use some improvement: 1. Rooms. They need an update. Their were stains on certain towels, which is disgusting. 2. Room service. We had our room cleaned one day. They didnt throw any of the trash away on the table. They didnt get rid of the used cups. Nor did they empty the trashcans..... 3. Pillows- the pillows tucked! Beds were super comfy. But im sore and my neck and back is tight.... 4. Gym. Again based on the pictures it was this huge thing. But it was extremely small. Served its purpose. But it looked like an after thought. They were also missing handles on their machines. Overall it was a wonderful 5 night stay. The views are unparalleled. I love how much green space is here. After the weekend there was basically no one here. So it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

I called multiple times over two days to confirm we were bringing our dog and never got an answer. you do have to leave a voicemail and they will return call. There is no AC unit, which may be an issue for some guests. especially for hotter days and the room does not have cross wind/circulating windows, Also, the booking photos show a sliding glass door to the beach (Hotel.com needs to update photos), but the hotel is actually across the street. Our window faced the water, but it's not a direct walk-out beach property. Now for the positives, the staff (all of them) were amazing. The rooms are bungalow-style and very clean and spacious. The hotel is pet-friendly $100 fee, and check-in/check-out was easy. The check-in area feels cozy and homey, with couches, chairs, books, and games available. They offer beer, wine, adult beverages (Adult options for your coffee), plus a kitchen and outdoor fireplace sitting area. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, about a 2-min walk to the water. The room was large and well-stocked with a mini fridge (fees may apply), huge comforters, bathrobes, slippers, a fan, fireplace, shower supplies such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and a sitting chair. There are many additional amenities available for a fee in the room and in their lobby area. In the morning, they deliver a basket with pastries croissants, cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, and champagne, a really nice touch. They also have bikes you can use and go bike riding, corn hole games, picnic benches, There's also an ice maker on-site. Parking spaces are small, so be cautious if you have a lifted truck or wide rims. The area itself is very nice. The hotels along the coastline are set up similarly, facing north and south, so most have somewhat obstructed or no ocean views or direct walk-on beach access. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, Hotel cost wasn't too bad but remember all the hotels in this area do not have walk out beach rooms. Area is very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, and EVERYONE is pet friendly even with a pitbull breed. Our kids had a blast in the ocean and were able to play board games eat ice cream and enjoy the scenery. there are several benches along the walk path in case you need to sit down and relax. There is small community town about 15min tops. several restaurants and shopping. old town style, very homey. so, if you're looking for a disconnect type of vacation, no party scene, just want peaceful and relaxation, this is the place. I will attach pictures and I do apologize because these were at the end of the trip and not when we first arrived. so, excuse the beds. The hotel was very clean and have hardwood floors.
