    Love the retro theme.

Great location across from the beach. The guys in the lobby were very friendly and fun to talk to. Room was clean, simple and cute. Reasonable priced The room could use some updating, low water pressure, but you get what you pay for. If you're looking for simple and a place to sleep, this is the place. Will definitely be staying again whenever I'm in area.

We were hosted at this Inn for our motorcycle club spooktacular event. They were so friendly and hospitable. Eager to make sure you were happy. The rooms are inviting with an old time feel to it. They great you when you check in with chocolate cookies. They have a nice little breakfast in the morning to get you going for the day. My room was clean and I had a view facing the ocean. There is a nice little restaurant next door with a bar to end your day. The location was not far from the elephant seals, Hurste Castle and shopping. Perfect location and friendly atmosphere. We will be back.

Check in was so easy, the staff is so accommodating and the location is perfect for Hearst Castle!

Moto Heaven in San Simeon We had an amazing time at our Indian Motorcycle Spooktacular 2025 event hosted at the Coast Riders Inn! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed in the indoor lounge (rec room)--from banner hangers to arranged tables and chairs, and a perfect setup for our food and drink stations. Our rooms were comfortable and full of fun retro car and motorcycle décor, adding to the biker spirit of the weekend. We especially loved relaxing together in the lounge area by the pool and hot tub after a long day of rides and festivities. We're already looking forward to returning to the Coast Riders Inn in San Simeon for our 2026 Spooktacular event!

It is an excellent place to stay in the San Luis Obispo county. Found this gem with "exceptional" ratings via Yelp and Hotels.com Owners Buddy and Jane are very nice and helpful. They greeted us with the warmest of hellos during check-in and Buddy showed my son and I his collections of Lego cars & bikes and a dancing baby Groot. The place is decorated with a plethora of racing ornamentation. There's a white Porsche 911 and a Triumph Bonneville parked in the premises. Buddy claims "the bank owns the motel" :) and that they took over the business in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Technically, a mom and pop operation, renovations have clearly and steadily been worked on this formerly run-down inn. Beds are comfortable and appliances are retro themed. There's a daily continental breakfast served from 7:30 to 10:00. Tables are set-up in the pool/jacuzzi room. We paid an extra $10 daily to charge our car with the facilities EV outlet. It was worth it as charging stations in the area are far and between. Give them a shot when in California's Central Coast.

The owners (and staff) of this establishment are wonderful! I stayed at this location years ago- different management- and it's SUCH an upgrade!! I stayed here this past weekend with my Indian Motorcycle Riding Group. The pool area was a great place for our Pizza Party!! They offer a simple "breakfast" in the morning - instant oatmeal, pastries, juices, coffee etc. The rooms were clean, comfy bed, a mini fridge and freezer in each room, coffee maker and connecting rooms if requested. Such a great location. Our group I'll be back! Thanks again! - IMRG SD Crew

Great location if visiting Hearst Castle and love the motorsports theme. It was super quiet, clean, and just across the highway from beach. Only drawback was WiFi was a bit spotty and it's needed since cell reception is weak out in those parts.

Absolutely great experience! The owners were kind, considerate, and a pleasure to talk to. Everything was very clean and very comfortable! Highly recommend if you're choosing a place in the area.

Love how it has a dispenser sopas instead of those individual soaps... Free of clutters

Don't be deceived by the Outlook of this hotel. The owner of the hotel was very helpful and fun to converse with. He also recommended a few areas to try it out. The hotel has a nice ambience in it. Looks newly remodeled and very old school style which makes it great. Highly recommend. It especially has the view of the ocean.

I had a sofa and it was roomy. The bathtub was left over from an era gone by when hotels had spa tubs. The tub was still there but the jets did not work anymore. My only complaint about the bathroom is that the oilers are too low and the water level in them Is too high for the bowl. Several times I dipped my hand into dirty water trying to get clean. Uhh!! The hotel is centrally located. Very close to Hearst Castle and the town of Cambria where most of the trade located. I would definitely go back again.

The entrance of the hotel was very promising, but it all came down with the experience that followed. We were standing at the desk for 25 mins, no one came to help us check in. In those 25 mins we kept calling, and we could hear the phone ring, but no one answered. From the same room the receptionist came out after half an hour. He had a foul smell coming from that room, although I dont want to comment on what the smell was. After we were provided the room, the room was dirty, there were soiled towels in the bathroom, bedsheets were soiled, and not replaced. When we mentioned this to the receptionist, he provided a different room on the same floor. The room was facing the parking lot, had ONLY A CEILING FAN, A TABLE FAN, AND NO AIR CONDITIONING. One of the bulbs in the new room was not working either, it was flickering the whole time. The sofa was dirty, and stained, and I didnt feel comfortable using it anyways. The only positive of the room was the pressure of the shower, but the spray modes were not working. Overall a very poor experience.

In that the ocean view rooms were old and worn. Dirty curtains. Popcorn ceilings. Lots of things patched together. Small rooms and really dark. I was initially disappointed when we got into our first room. It was not at all what the pictures showed. Being initially on the downstairs unit people would walk by our patio while we're sitting there. Basically looking at us and disturbing our peace. Our 2nd unit was upstairs. Which was a lot better. As we had more privacy and a better view of the ocean. But basically the same layout as downstairs. There were alot of things I enjoyed about this resort, which ultimately left me satisfied with my stay here. For example: 1. The grounds was beautiful and expansive. Lots of greenery. They had a sand volleyball court. Multiple fire pits. A giant chess and checkers board. Multiple areas to sit along the cliff. 2. View from the balcony was unmatched. You have a very expansive and view of the ocean. We werent beach front. We were the ocean view balcony rooms. But it was nice too because you were able to see the grounds of the resort leading into the ocean. Rocking chairs and table too were a nice touch on the balcony. 3. Nice beach access and super close too. No street crossing or dodging cars. 4. Front desk. They moved our rooms (to an upstairs room) with no issues. They also have complimentary toiletries at the front desk. 5. Fire place. Our rooms had fire places. With a lot of compressed wood chip bricks. It definitely warmed up the room and made it so much more romantic. 6. Parking. They have parking right infront of your room. So there isnt that much walking from your vehicle to the room. 7. During the weekdays there was no one here!! You literally had the entire resort to yourself which was amazing!! 8. Close proximity to Cambria as well as the elephant seal viewpoint, as well as many other points of interest. Things that could use some improvement: 1. Rooms. They need an update. Their were stains on certain towels, which is disgusting. 2. Room service. We had our room cleaned one day. They didnt throw any of the trash away on the table. They didnt get rid of the used cups. Nor did they empty the trashcans..... 3. Pillows- the pillows tucked! Beds were super comfy. But im sore and my neck and back is tight.... 4. Gym. Again based on the pictures it was this huge thing. But it was extremely small. Served its purpose. But it looked like an after thought. They were also missing handles on their machines. Overall it was a wonderful 5 night stay. The views are unparalleled. I love how much green space is here. After the weekend there was basically no one here. So it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

I called multiple times over two days to confirm we were bringing our dog and never got an answer. you do have to leave a voicemail and they will return call. There is no AC unit, which may be an issue for some guests. especially for hotter days and the room does not have cross wind/circulating windows, Also, the booking photos show a sliding glass door to the beach (Hotel.com needs to update photos), but the hotel is actually across the street. Our window faced the water, but it's not a direct walk-out beach property. Now for the positives, the staff (all of them) were amazing. The rooms are bungalow-style and very clean and spacious. The hotel is pet-friendly $100 fee, and check-in/check-out was easy. The check-in area feels cozy and homey, with couches, chairs, books, and games available. They offer beer, wine, adult beverages (Adult options for your coffee), plus a kitchen and outdoor fireplace sitting area. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, about a 2-min walk to the water. The room was large and well-stocked with a mini fridge (fees may apply), huge comforters, bathrobes, slippers, a fan, fireplace, shower supplies such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and a sitting chair. There are many additional amenities available for a fee in the room and in their lobby area. In the morning, they deliver a basket with pastries croissants, cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, and champagne, a really nice touch. They also have bikes you can use and go bike riding, corn hole games, picnic benches, There's also an ice maker on-site. Parking spaces are small, so be cautious if you have a lifted truck or wide rims. The area itself is very nice. The hotels along the coastline are set up similarly, facing north and south, so most have somewhat obstructed or no ocean views or direct walk-on beach access. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, Hotel cost wasn't too bad but remember all the hotels in this area do not have walk out beach rooms. Area is very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, and EVERYONE is pet friendly even with a pitbull breed. Our kids had a blast in the ocean and were able to play board games eat ice cream and enjoy the scenery. there are several benches along the walk path in case you need to sit down and relax. There is small community town about 15min tops. several restaurants and shopping. old town style, very homey. so, if you're looking for a disconnect type of vacation, no party scene, just want peaceful and relaxation, this is the place. I will attach pictures and I do apologize because these were at the end of the trip and not when we first arrived. so, excuse the beds. The hotel was very clean and have hardwood floors.
