The plantain is always just the right texture and the chicken is very tender. It doesn't really travel well though so you just have to use a fork to put everything back together. Recently, my support group Hearts that HEAL enjoyed a delightful meal and excellent service at Lo Sano Restaurant and Bar, nestled in the south end of Hartford on Maple Avenue. Our meeting with 17 women and 8 Hartford Police officers who came to answer our questions about personal and Internet safety was a positive experience, led by our friend Hyacinth Yennie. This community activist spends her time at the Senior Citizen Wellness Center down the street, where she leads activities and trips for older residents of the neighborhood. Delicious food, attentive service, and affordable prices made this restaurant a positive choice for our monthly support group meeting. The hors d'oeuvres, sandwiches, and desserts hit the spot while we engaged with South End police officers who answered our questions about safety and gave short, helpful talks. All in all, it was a positive experience. We will return for the delicious Spanish food and the excellent service from the wait staff. Thank you, Lo Sano, for a wonderful dining experience. Great find in the city! Food quality, taste, and presentation was elevated. Crispy chicken bites that were well seasoned, crispy on the outside and perfectly tender and juicy on the inside. White rice was perfectly cooked and the beans were saucy with great flavor. With a great atmosphere, clean restaurant and bathrooms. Review on the Tres Leches Cake After a long night of salsa dancing my friend and I treated ourselves to tres leches (three milk cake) for dessert. Although we were lucky enough to take the last slice, the "wet" cake did not meet our expectations. While the consistency of the dough was decently light and airy, the cake lacked moisture- characteristically absorbed from a balanced mixture of condensed, evaporated, and whole milk. There was an overwhelming taste of condensed milk ( the more viscous of the three), which could explain why the cake was on the drier side. Overall the cake wasn't bad, but we certainly had better elsewhere. On the contrary, those with a sweet tooth may find the cake to be quite enjoyable. read more

The food was so delicious and plated very well! Food was piping hot and wait time was reasonable for fresh and well prepared & plated. The Waitress takes in your order right from the table straight to the kitchen right from the handheld machine. And drinks were so good and well made as well. The decor is modern with that theme of green grass on a wall with the cursive modern lights over it to grab your attention to the long bar area, where you can sit and eat your meal as well. This has to be one of the best Dominican restaurants I have ever been to. I've been there 3 times so far, and all for Sunday brunch. Accompanied with Spanish music playing a variety of Latin music, and pitchers of mimosas... you definitely get that dinner vibe but it's 2 pm (which is perfect for me!) I was at Lo Sano during their Sunday brunch events to celebrate a friend's birthday. Apparently during their brunch, they allow only big groups. It was a good experience and we were a party of 12. The tables were set for us and there were several birthday parties that weekend. The food (Sancocho and the Hangover burger) was fantastic and i loved the passion fruit mojito. The staff were very attentive too. The only issue that i had was the noise level. The DJ played the music so loud that I couldn't hear the person sitting next to me and after I walked out of the restaurant my ears were still ringing and i had a headache. Outside of that, i will definitely come back during a quiet night and explore the menu. read more

This happens Sunday April 7 at 1:50pm I try my best to be very polite, but she was super rude with our table. She forget to give us the menu, then we have to ask for the drink menus because she never mention where we can find the drinks... food was EXCELLENT! But definitely never going back again after this. Another person from the kitchen helps us more than our waitress with the orders. We asked for more water because she brings the drinks (COCA-cola only) super late too. Also, we were ready to order and she said to us "call me back at 2:00pm and remember to me what do you want, because the sancocho is not ready until 2:00pm" unsure why she was unable to just take the order. Rachel.... that's all I want to say! First time we came here the host who was new did a great job for his first day on the day! However, the server on that day was horrible, our wait was about 45min prior to the seating for our drinks and appetizers when I decided to just get up and go. My husband decided to give it a second try, I went for it, although I was turnt off the first time. We came back and met with the young lady who's a bartender Rachel she was very apologetic for the other servers and made sure we were good with again the new host. Who was also great! Horrible experience with the food, it was horrible. my daughter asked for chicharron the pollo with white rice and got some breaded chicken tenders with really dried, hard, flavorless rice. Asked for beans to see if it would make it better but the beans were no good either. My daughter could just not eat it. I ordered stake with tostones. The steak was disgusting, so chewy and flavorless, the tostones were mediocre. I was soo disappointed. The atmosphere was great but horrible food. I would never eat there again! read more
