Our guide was experienced, patient and knew the river well. He took good care of my 10 year old granddaughter, who was a first-timer. This is a quality outfit. I recommend them without reservation. The last time we rafted Middle Fork American was on a cold, gloomy, drizzling day in October 2019 - so we had to give it another go in warmer weather. This time around was just as memorable. Two of us in the boat ended up falling out in the water at Tunnel Chute, which happened so fast that I barely knew what had happened - thankfully, there was a nice calmer stretch of water right after through the river tunnel, so we were easily able to get back into the raft. (Thank you to our guide, Troy, for hauling me back in, and for being an awesome guide in general!) Plus this was one of the photographer spots, so the action was all captured for us to laugh about later. Later, after our tasty sandwich picnic lunch, we had a few unexpected events happen, starting from the portage down Ruck-a-Chucky Falls. Shout-out to all three guides in our group - Troy, Shea, and AJ - for handling things so calmly and getting us all back where we were supposed to be! We had plenty of calm stretches floating down the river as well. The canyon is beautiful and quite peaceful. We saw a ton of dragonflies flying above our heads, masked ducks chilling on rocks and diving underwater, and wild grapes and blackberries growing alongside the river. We'll be back again for another trip with All-Outdoors! Maybe we'll try a 2-day or 3-day trip next time.

Examples of instruction were navigating into an eddy, ferrying across a current to the other side of the river, tying off a boat, setting up angles, and reading currents were just a few skills that were taught. Sierra Mac and our group was welcoming, eager to teach, and patient all the while giving appropriate feedback. The instruction truly was "hands on" as we got the opportunity to take a turn at rowing to learn the basic mechanics of boat rowing. While we expected to be in tents, we actually slept without them, and this ended up being a cool experience for us and pushed my teenagers to realize it can be done! Highly recommend Tom and the whole crew. Every guide was a class act, and we particularly appreciated how many combined years of experience they all brought. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing, mainly due to poor planning by the staff. We booked for four people on a Thursday - my wife, myself, and our two teens (14 and 16)--with the expectation that we'd have two boats, which is standard for this group size. However, the team miscounted the boats that morning. When we pointed this out, instead of fixing the mistake, they pulled us aside and crammed all four of us into a boat intended for three, squeezing in an extra seat to make it "fit." Visibly frustrated, the team promised to speak with the owner and make it right (it was two high schoolers running it that day). I didn't argue and wanted to at least try to have a good time and not be that Dad. The result on the boat? A very cramped and uncomfortable setup that made the inflatable much harder to steer and navigate--especially on a 9-mile river trip. This wasn't the experience we paid for or expected based on our prior trips. The staff seemed more focused on moving us along rather than making it right. Still haven't heard from the owner. We'll likely explore other options next time around. Disappointed to see the service slip like this.

Sea Trek is a true Sausalito gem. I bring my family here whenever they visit -- there's something about paddling out on the bay and discovering the houseboats by kayak that never gets old. The staff are always friendly and professional, which makes it great for first-timers and locals alike. These guys are great. They put you at ease if it is your first time out on the water and still check your gear if you have been kayaking before. I enjoyed viewing the seals sleeping and swimming, paddling around the houseboats. The views of the Bay and San Francisco were great. I have rented their kayaks twice and just found out they are dog friendly, so I will return with my retriever mix so she can enjoy the water too. read more

I love this company. I bought a package of 20 hours 9 years ago, thinking when I moved to SF I would be kayaking every weekend. Well, it didn't happen. Then I moved to Sausalito a few months ago. They do this particular tour on nights when there's little to no moonlight since that is when you will best see the sparkling creatures in the bay. It embarks from Miller's Boat Launch near Nick's Cove in Marshall. It's not far from Point Reyes, so if you're spending time at the seashore, this is a magical way to end your day. They begin at 8 with very detailed instructions for your gear and paddling. Between that and then launching the boats in your group, you actually get on the water about 8:45 and return to the dock around 11 pm. It was a windy and foggy evening, so unfortunately, there were no sunset views. But the novelty of paddling in twighlight in to the evening more than made up for that. We had flocks of pelicans flying overhead and once we got to darker areas, the real star of the show came out to sparkle. You can see the bioluminescence light up as you paddle or run your fingers in the water. We stopped a few times along some coves and even saw the sparkles lap up on the sandy shores. We had 3 guides -one leading, one in the middle and one at the back to make sure no boats were left behind. The ride out was a bit choppy but we had paddlers of all levels in our group and everyone did okay. The guides made sure to check in with everyone and we'd count off boats to make sure we all caught up, We got to hear information about the seashore and the surrounding waters and the local creatures. The time flew by and it was such a wonderful, magical experience. If you haven't night kayaked, I'd definitely say to try it once. I hope to travel with Blue waters again and try one of their day trips, While it's important to dress warm and wear waterproof shoes, they do provide dry bags, a waterproof top and of course all the safety gear for your excursion.

We ended up getting swept up by the experience for too long and my watch died, so we retuned the kayak late, but Cooper was really understanding. A bit chilly at first, which is to be expected, although we were able to shed a layer about halfway through. In addition to the overall gorgeousness of the Bay, we also saw lots of wildlife, mostly birds and harbour porpoises. The docking location is perfect, with nearby public parking, and lots of restaurant options if you plan to grab a bite to eat before or after your excursion. This is definitely a fun experience for both locals and visitors and something we will happily book again.
