This was an OK stay for the price. The parking is OK. The breakfast was horrible and there was no Wi-Fi. Everything else was pretty clean. The room was big enough. We only stayed one night. I have never stayed in this area so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The staff seemed nice, but there was periodically people not up in the Front Desk and we had to keep ringing the bell. read more

We booked it for a night after camping so it seemed pretty clean after a few nights outdoors in the dirt. This place was a bit run down but over all decent. Beds were stiff but it was basically clean The TV and shower worked and the included hot breakfast really made this place worth it. We booked it on a night that we didn't know was super busy for the day after independence day fireworks. Also a big plus is the pool and jacuzzi. The staff were friendly but if the room needed anything they asked you to come to front desk to get it or to find housekeeping. Its a sleepy, foggy small town with limited options and a limited staff. I felt for what we paid it was decent but not exactly worth it or up to high quality standards. The room change was not your fault. The fact that there was no one cleaning our room for the Three days we stayed, is. When we asked for someone to help adjust the thermos stst when it was uncomfortable and hot, they told us to " crack a window" after telling us an hour and a half before that very would send a maintenance man up to help- they sent someone after I was told to " crack a window." There has been loud banging noises from somewhere in the area near our room, and rhe last day house cleaning asked if we wanted our room cleaned after 3 days of not so much as toilet paper replaced in our room. There is a loud echoing noise coming from the thin walls and when I asked the front desk to quiet it down- it's 10 pm, and we are leaving tomorrow early, it's my understanding that the hot tub closes at 10 pm at posted hours. At 10:20 pm it was finally quiet. ( There is an open hatch on the roof by our room, next to our balcony) Our new and improved room is above the hot tub. It is echoing and we can hear loud conversation in our room. I am glad that your establishment offered an " upgrade" and gave us a king-sized bed. But I have to say, that no house keeping ( we put that we needed our room cleaned, and no toilet paper, we had to ask for towels, and being ignored when we asked for maintenance ,loud disruptive voices after 10pm, and being told to "basically " handle it ourselves" when the room temperature cannot be adjusted is unacceptable. Also the room is DATED. I took a picture of the phone from the 80's. The only thing missing is a rotary dial. The fact that your temperature gauge is not up to date, makes a huge difference in the comfort of your guests. I wanted to cook meals to save money for a much needed get away with my daughter, and was told from the storm we had to change rooms was stressful, now we are being told that it's our problem if we need basic attention for things like temperature control, loud noises, and a clean, maintained room. The girl at the front desk in the morning is pleasant and helpful. Whoever is at night is rude and apathetic, and needs to find a different job. Last night Told the front desk person after 8 pm that I injured myself, and needed extra bags snd towels. I told her my daughter would be by to pick them up or if she could send someone to bring me those basic needs. She said it would be better if my daughter came to her and picked them up- not a huge deal, my daughter is helpful, but I thought isn't that her job to make sure we have basic requests fulfilled? I am extremely dissatisfied, will not return to this motel again. I true to save money, and paid for my mistake. read more

Great room and all but the night time customer service here is the worst. The WiFi in this room does not work at all. The man with an accent at the desk 8/3 11:30 does not seem to care. He has not fixed it, nor offered any compensation, or shown any sign of wanting to do a good job. All he says is it should be working. Or that maintenance is not answering but I doubt he cared enough to call maintenance. I know a deplorable worker when I see one. I demanded compensation due to the fact that I'm paying the same amount for the room as people who are getting internet but I doubt he will make good on that too. read more

We went on a three day visit to Fort Bragg and stayed here during our trip. The room was clean and pleasant, the staff were very nice, and the Lodge is centrally located. The indoor pool and hot tub were a great way to end each day, and the Lodge is located very near access to the Noyo River Headlands, which are great for North Coast views, and great photo opportunities. The Lodge is also close to the famous Glass Beach, which is a must experience. All in all, a pleasant place and worth staying of you're in Fort Bragg. read more

So disappointed in more than one way. Upon checking in we discovered that our handicapped room reservation was in the furthest distance from the the safest place possible. Not to mention it was next to where numerous contractors we lodging for the nights we booked. They were opening their coolers of beer getting ready for their night of letting down. We tried to get relocated to no avail and of course they would not reimburse us. Fortunately we were able to find another place to lodge. ZERO stars !!!!I made the mistake of booking this through a third party and believing the pictures I should have read the reviews but I got so busy with work I lagged. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot I had a bad feeling. But I was willing to check out the room. I indulged in a room with a balcony ( hahaha I laugh at that now) front desk was friendly during check in pointed us to our room. Upstairs with the rear facing the ocean. I knew it was trouble when there was carpet on the walkway and stairs leading to room mind you this is out side walkway and stairs. As soon as I opened the door the smell hit me. Musty old carpet with stains. I started checking the room like I always do and I always first go to mattress and check the corners for signs of bedbugs or critters. Using my phone I look behind and behold a roach trap with a little fellow stuck there. Ok nope I'm out ! Told my husband to grab our stuff let's go ! Went immediately to the front desk and said I'm not comfortable here the room has insects better yet roaches. I explained I wanted a refund and would be finding another hotel. Front desk lady tried to convince me to check out another room. Uh no if you got roaches in 1 room I'm not going to another. When I showed the picture she then told me oh no we don't even have those kind of traps. What are you implying? I brought the roach with me to get out of the room ? Yeah no ! Other man who was there and said oh it's just preventative. Ok if you got roaches on it and it behind the head of the bed Im not staying here ! Im not sure if the staff thought this was normal or what but that roaches public death saved me from staying at this horrible, dirty disgusting place. Ended up in Holiday Inn down the road in a suite with a wrap around balcony. Take my advice don't stay here this place does not look like the pictures and should be taken down. UPDATE: this roach motel has refused to refund my money !! They made a statement implying I placed the trap ! Step back in time at the seabird lodge. I felt like I was walking into my great grandmas bedroom. While Cozy and mostly clean the carpet is probably from the 70s stained and smelt wet. Needs upgrading desperately. Walls were painted pink over the old wallpaper. Pros: clean. I didn't get any bug bites. Bed was clean. Price was ok. Cons: smelt mildewy, carpet had stains and was gross. Walls are paper thin heard my neighbors going to pound town all night long. Every time someone flushes their toilet I heard it. Bring your own pillows these are thin and hard. Tossed and turned all night. The coffee machine has tea but the machine doesn't brew just water you have to have a coffee pod to make it turn on. So the tea can't be used. Vending machine stole my Cheeto's also... lol read more

Zero star review!!! My family and I had a horrible experience at the Seabird Lodge this past weekend. First night we were there I woke up with some bites on my ankles but wrote it off as nothing since both my husband and infant were fine. The second night, all three of us were miserable. We found actual fleas infesting the bed and carpet. While my husband was comforting our infant they were jumping off his legs. Now I have bites all over my body as do my husband and infant. We caught some of them and brought them to the front desk. Expecting a full refund and an apology. Instead we were accused of bring the bugs and told they needed to inspect the room. Eventually we were given a mire 25% refund. To add to the bugs, the second morning the power was out. Again no apology or offer to make things right. We got ready for the day by the light of our cell phones. This hotel does allow dogs, which were barking all night long and not in a separate area of the hotel from those without dogs. I would not recommend trying it. It's over priced for what you get and you will be left with issues. read more

FIRST OFF I HATE GIVING BAD REVIEWS! But I would give a 0 star if it was available. Extremely dirty unkempt hotel! Whole place needs power washing! Stains on old carpeted flooring, old stains on bedspread, peeling wallpaper, dresser drawers won't close, and sink board dirty. I won't walk around in bare feet. Bed was hard but ok. Exterior even worse. They kinda FORGOT to tell us there was no maid service and you had to request cleaning and towels 24 hrs in advance ! So we reused our towels and linens . Bathroom was clean, shower old, wallpaper coming off, stains on tub. Toilet old and required holding the lever down to flush. Staff was unresponsive and seemingly very bored with everything. Stobing lights on the wifi system on ceiling, guaranteed to keep you up. They gave us transparent tape to fixit. I'm 5'2. Not getting on a chair to fix my room! We were stuck here three nights. I'd never choose this place on my own. Old trash everywhere, sticky outside walkways, outdoor carpet ripped and filthy. Counted how many days they would take to pick up discarded cherries and unidentifiable sticky liquid off the stairs, never did. Never tried breakfast. Won't! Good luck to you if decide to spend your money here. Shame on this hotel for even taking anyones money. read more

Over a hundred dollars in Fees - in the second page of e -mail of reservation, you wouldn't see unless you knew to look. County fee, city fee, lots of fees it was 25% of bill, plus's $20 a night pet fee as they wouldn't honor ESA dog as they said they would when taking the reservation. This made $360 turn into $499 and rude and nasty management. Sad. I should have stuck with booking.com, but I was unsure what I was getting with a third party. Probably not over $130 in fees... I was concerned about what the actual room I was getting on Booking.com as on confirmation with the hotel it was often different. The hotel didn't mention any of the fee and said no problem for an ESA dog on making reservations, which they did not honor. I scammed by hotel themselves and insulted too. Management Needs customer service skills. read more

I really like giving good reviews.... Long ago I was a motel maid. It's customary to replace towels when removing dirty ones. Also making beds daily, changing every other. Coffees were replaced with decaf.... Super nice front desk brought us clean towels and regular coffee. Odd to have a bathtub in an ADA room. My 1 star review is because I specifically called before leaving for most of the day to let housekeeping know it was a good time to come. I was told OK. I don't like being passified. read more

I was unfairly charged for smoking in the room. I was charged because it smelled of marijuana. Yes I smoke marijuana yes I had marijuana no I did not smoke in the room. It clearly shows me going out to the smoking area each and every time I wanted to smoke. Yes I rolled my joints in the room but I did not see a sign that said no marijuana rolling in the room. He insulted me , stating I was "Acting Crazy" and said that i said "please" too many times , and then he cancelled me and My Family's get-away night on the spot. You need a total remodel. Bathroom toilets don't flush sink and tub are old and nasty. No air conditioner and the balcony are unsafe.

This hotel was a great deal via Booking's website, but my boyfriend and I were a bit disappointed with the room and the overall upkeep of the rooms. Upon first entering, the carpet is old and covered in stains. So are the chairs. The wallpaper is peeling, there's old water damage/bubbling on the ceiling, and what appears to be mildew in the shower. On top of that, there was an old peanut in the bed. I kid you not lol. We aren't expecting perfection for the price, since this room was a great deal, but there are other hotels down the road that are $20-30 more per night that are significantly cleaner and closer to the beach. Granted this lodge had availability on our short notice, if the other places were open, we would have stayed there instead. Late at night, I wouldn't advise going to the ice machine alone, as there are people smoking from glass pipes on the stairwell. That's not the lodge's fault, but it was disconcerting to say the least. Decent indoor pool and jacuzzi, and there are muffins served in the morning at 6:30 to 9:30am. Customer service was good and efficient. They have 24 hour customer service, so you can check-in past 10pm (when the lobby is closed). I appreciate that this place was affordable and close to all the spots we wanted to drive too, but I was a bit taken back by how run down it was. This is a good place for maybe a quick weekend in Fort Bragg, but it was a bit of a buzzkill for the romance factor. I would say this hotel is decent if you're casually traveling and not planning to spend too much time in the room. read more

This place is just lovely! We stopped for a night on the way back from a trip up North; it's ideal for a short but relaxing stay. The reception staff are friendly and welcoming, the check-in time is a little late at 4 p.m., but there are beaches and seafood restaurants nearby to entertain yourselves :) The rooms are definitely a bit dated, but in a clean, cute way, not in a "should I bring my own pillowcases?" kinda way. If you're looking for a minimalist/postmodern decor, this is not your spot. If you're looking for a nice, airy overnighter, it's a bargain. Also it's pet friendly, and the rooms get a lovely sunset view over the ocean. Sure it's not right outside your room, and there is some road noise, but if you can read a map, you can kinda see that before you arrive... Would recommend to solo travelers, couples, families, other dogs :) read more

The Seabird Hotel should be called The Bates Motel, it's right out of a Alfred Hitchcock movie! We tried to support a family business, but the Seabird was a nightmare. Upon arrival we were put in a room in a dark part of the rear of the hotel with eerie people lurking around and within 20 ft of a homeless camp full of people drinking and stalking us. The security lights were broken and upon entering the room found freshly picked up human/animal waste large stains on the carpets, a TV that didn't work, in-room phone not working , dirty and lumpy mattress, internet not working and a door that wouldn't lock and was freshly kicked in. Since the phones don't work, we had to use our cell phone and called Hanna at the front desk about the room and how unsafe we felt with a door that wouldn't lock. After some bantering with her about the room, she reluctantly said she would send maintenance over. We waited until about 11pm when a confronting maintenance man stormed into the room and we could leave if we wanted. We felt so unsafe that we gladly left and didn't care if we didn't get our money back. We were able to book at another hotel and were glad we did as we felt lucky that we were not shot, robbed and assaulted by the homeless people, the maintenance man or the people lurking around the dark areas. read more

My husband and I stayed for a short 1 night at this small motel. It is not fru fru, pretty basic but fairly clean and they offered great rates for the expensive Mendocino area! The room was spacious, there was no A/C but we opened the window to let the air in and it was comfortable inside the room. If you're sensitive to noise, request for a room in the back. The motel room was dated but reasonably clean and the bed was comfortable for our 1 night stay. It had a microwave, a good size fridge, tv with HBO, and keurig coffee maker as well as a small table and two chairs by the window. The vanity and sink was spacious with lots of room to spread put your toiletries and makeup. There is a laundry room (coins) and indoor pool and hot tub. We used the pool a d hot tub for a bit but there were some kids jumping in and out so we didn't stay long, not the motel' s fault of course. The breakfast was a continental, we lovedddd the homemade muffins, so much to choose from including the savory kind with cheese and bacon, soooooo good! We also enjoyed the chocolate chips and orange cranberry muffins..so good and so tempting to keep eating them! Besides muffins there were cheerios and yogurt, variety of juices (orange, apple, cranberry), milk, coffee and tea. It was a some spread but truly appreciated. Breakfast ends at 930, so dont sleep in too long... We will stay here again if we visit fort Bragg in the future. The location is also great there is Safeway and lots of restaurants nearby. The glass beach is also about a mile down the road and lots of cheap gas nearby! read more

Average hotel. Room was dated, but linens were clean and mattress felt new. Mini-fridge and microwave was a nice touch. Wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and the shower ceiling was moldy. The linoleum around the toilet was water damaged and parts of the floor felt a tad precarious. The included breakfast ends at 8:30 - that's far too early! I've never stayed in a motel that ends it before 9. I'm on vacation! Let me sleep in a little bit. Heated pool, but the "hot tub" was more of a "warm tub" with no way to turn the jets on. From Wild Nights in Vegas to Third World Countries, this one Takes the Prize, believe it or not, the "quiet-seeming", quint little Seabird Lodge of Fort Bragg. And believe us, we were shocked to report this as well.  Not only for the stay itself, the night we endured, but the owner's later response when all was said and done.   Unfortunately, there's a limit cap of words, and this would take too long to go through, but from start to finish, just sheer misery sums up our stay here and the lack of concern and professionalism from mgmt and ownership thereafter when confronted with our concerns and complaint. I never leave bad reviews, this is my first one, but this needed to be left I felt, and for anyone out there considering this place and their supposedly "new mgmt/ownership" that has recently taken over from what I have seen/read.  This stay was a complete nightmare! I very much enjoyed my stay at the Seabird! It's a cozy and simple little place, with homestyle touches that make it special, and a few nice elements that are reminiscent of chains. I visited the weekend before Christmas for an overnight getaway, booking my room through Expedia. I appreciated their honest description when they say some rooms have a distant ocean view - mine did, and it was across several rooftops and Highway 1, but it was straight ahead! Still lovely to watch the sun set out the window. I also arrived a couple hours before check-in and popped into the lobby to see if I might be able to get my room early, and I was happily accomodated! I booked what Expedia told me was the last patio distant ocean view room, which had two queens, but I was able to moved to a king patio room at no upcharge upon check-in - super cool! A couple of small gripes aside - no security lock on the front door, small bathroom counter, and a frustrating excess of decaf pods for my in-room Keurig ;) - I think this place was great for the price on a Saturday night. They could definitely stand to update their decor, but do things like that really matter if you just need a bed for a night? I was able to park right outside my room's door, and perhaps most charming of all was the complimentary breakfast included homemade muffins. A cup of coffee and a homemade white chocolate cranberry muffin a few days before Christmas on a rainy morning near the ocean was a slice of heaven for me. If you're seeking quaint and cozy accomodations, Seabird is definitely recommended - I would happily return! read more

Well, my review is a big zero. Had a friend stuck on that side of the river and tried to rent a room over the phone for her as they weren't accepting cash. Worker Brandon doesn't know about customer service very much. I asked that he talk to his manager he insisted that nothing could be done and then when I decided to give up, he called the manager?! Come on I've worked in customer service almost all my life. You need to help people when they need help. This wasn't a situation where things could be helped. I had the money on my card and he refused to take it without some BS about filling out an application over the computer. We've had no power here. How in the hell am I supposed to do that? Hotel was decent. Rooms were way to hot and all they give is one tiny fan that does not reach around whole room. Beds were so uncomfortable, I could hardly sleep. There was a hole in the wall in the bathroom upon arrival. Breakfast hours are from 6:30-8:30. Wifi did not work, showed as connected but internet would not work. The Seabird was very good value for the money, and I'd give it 4.75 stars. It was superior to many other motels/hotels in several ways: - Room had a bathtub, not just a shower. As far as I'm concerned, it's just not true vacation comfort without a good soak at the end of the day. - Excellent gooseneck reading lamps built in at each side of the king-sized bed. Great for reading in bed (or just needing to see something) without bothering your partner. - Comfy bed with unscented sheets (no bleachy smell)! - Color scheme was all neutrals, a nice break from the typical "autumn gold & rust" of so many motels. - It was also nice and quiet (this was in January, but maybe it's quiet in the peak season too, who knows). Of course, there was room for improvement in a couple of ways: - Now that we have to check in at an outdoors window, they could be quicker about it!
