My favorite place in Newark. The food is beyond fresh (you can watch through the huge window to the kitchen if you want). Everything is excellent and the portions are HUGE. If you order an appetizer, you def will not finish your main course. Sangria is good and free parking across the street. Gets very crowded so prepare to wait, especially if you are more than 2 people. Sign the book if there is a line, because if you don't know, they won't tell you and you'll wait for nothing. read more

We went here one night on a whim and really liked it. Kim's pushing to give it 3 stars because she claims the pork was a little dry but I find that highly debatable. Plus, I'm the chef b****. Anyway, when you walk in you get this huge waft of great smelling seafood and braised meat. Right in the face. That's my kind of joint. There was no hostess and all the Portuguese people in there knew immediately we were not from the neighborhood so they kind of gave us that look. So we sat down at the bar and got some apps. We got the shrimp in garlic sauce and the octopus salad which is actually kept out by the bar on ice. Both were good but the salad was amazing. Just pieces of steamed octopus with red onion and parsley and a littler olive oil and vinegar. We got a second order it was that good. For our entrees we both got the pork and clams. Classic Portuguese food. I've had it from here before and can never order anything else. Its basically cubes of seasoned pork with clams sauteed in a garlic and coriander sauce. It also comes with these potatoes which are boiled, then seasoned with smoked paprika, then fried. Absolutely perfect. I was in heaven. Kim claims her pork was a tad dry but I don't by that so we're giving this place 4 stars. Def check this place out ASAP!!!! read more

I went for lunch on Friday.Thankfully , given the cold , they have a parking lot .I was by myself and ate at the bar.I had good raw oysters and grilled cod also good. The cod is served with vegetables and potatoes which are overcooked and nothing to write home about but then again that's not what I was there for.Service was quick and I had a good time.I think the place is a bit pricey for what it is .I've been before and will probably go again. read more

I've only been here once, but as the terminator would say, "I'll be back!" The menu overall has sooo many options. If you're a seafood lover this place is for you! The prices are reasonable because as we all know seafood is usually overpriced. The decor is nice. it looks like a blend of a market and restaurant, where all the seafood is put on ice on display for you to see. Service on point! My boyfriend and I decided to splurge and get the seafood platter for 2 on the everyday specials list, priced around 52.00. The platter can definitely feed more than 2 lol. It included one lobster, mussels, clams casino, fish, shrimp, rice and homemade potato chips. And we also got a small pitcher of sangria as well (red wine). Mmmmm all sooo yummy!! Can't wait to go back! Also the parking is free in the lot across the street, just get your ticket validated. read more

Great food, and possibly the only good thing I experienced in my three day trip to New Jersey. Customer service is gracious if you're not a regular, and mafia family-esque if you are a regular. It seemed like the stuffed lobster was the hot thing to order ($25 for normal sized, all the way up to $65-75 for huuuge ones that take up the entire table). We got the calamari, mussels in the house broth (white wine, parsley, garlic, etc), red sangria, and a few beers to drink. The mussels in the white wine broth was amaaaaaaaaaazing. I couldn't stop going back and I wanted to drink it. The stuffed lobster was also great. Place is a little pricey but not steakhouse-serving-seafood pricey and the portion for any item on the menu is most certainly for two. The bread wasn't great and we were for some reason served with two giant plates of chips that were tasteless. We both ate one and let them take it back. Get rid of this nonsense. Dings - the service can get disorganized. I would highly recommend slotting minimum 2 hours to eat and a reservation because the wait can be long and the service can be slow. I would recommend the restaurant tighten up profits by getting rid of the potato chips and upgrading the quality of the bread and butter. Parking - there's a lot next to the restaurant where a sketchy looking dude sits at the entrance. There are copious numbers of signs warning you to not leave valuables in car and that the restaurant is not responsible if anything happens. It really makes for a relaxing experience when you first pull in, it really does. I had high hopes from all the positive Yelp! reviews and Seabra's did not disappoint! This was one spectacular meal. The grilled octopus was to die for. The oysters are huge and succulent! This is authentic ethnic food... there is a bit of a language barrier but the waitstaff is very friendly and very helpful. *The Mariscada*- Lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops served in a tasty tomato sauce with a touch of cognac, accompanied by rice- is enough for two and at $24 is an amazing bargain! You can run up a very big bill here... but if you do you are leaving stuffed... really the prices are very reasonable. Minor complaints... dessert was adequate at best. Then we sort of got lost at the end of the meal... our waiter seemed to abandon us and it became a tag team affair at the end. But this couldn't dim the luster of great dinner. We went here because I was stuck in Newark on a job. We *will* come back because this local authentic gem is a destination restaurant and worth the trip from anywhere! read more

Was in the area for work with my wife. We yelp everything and Seabra's reviews looked promising. First thing we noticed was they only had Miller Lite, MGD and Heineken.... something aint right. So I had a draft of MGD and then we ordered a pitcher of white sangria. Since this was a Portuguese restaurant we thought the sangria must be decent. WRONG! It tasted like EmergenC! Then I found out they used SUNNY-D in their sangrias! This is the main reason for the low rating. Now we were getting scared. But the food looked plentiful and appetizing looking at the others. We tried the Sardines special and the Mariscada entree. The Sardines were tasty and cooked well. The Mariscada's sauce tasted of cheap ingredients, definitely not worth the price. I wished we went somewhere else (like Top's Diner which was a hit in every way). read more

My daughter and i came here on a Sunday afternoon. No seating was available in the dining room so we sat in a corner in a small table at the bar. We ordered the seafood hot platter which goes for about 80 dollars. It was ok. Some of the seafood was bland. It was though a lot of food so we had lots of leftovers. 3 to four people can eat from this plate but it was just ok. So i am giving them 3 stars read more

Four of us went here because my husband was dying for paella for his birthday dinner. I read all the reviews and was very excited. This was short lived as we saw all the waiters frantic before we were even seated. We were waiting in a narrow hallway where all the waitstaff had to pass through to pick up food and drinks. They were tripping over each other and any customers that came through. Super uncomfortable start and we should have left right there. Started out with 2 apps...Fried Calamari and the Cockles in garlic sauce. The sauces were very good. Then came Paella and an order of Spicy short ribs. The paella had some nasty looking fish in it. My son was getting a little grossed out, picking out what he thought was part of a lobster but it was actually fish eggs...eeewww. The chicken in the paella was very dry and tasteless. We've had paella many times but it never looked as funky as this. $32 each. We ate it because we were starving but it could have been way better. Now for the short ribs --- DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SKIP THESE! I couldn't even chew parts of it and had to spit it out (nasty)...it was tough, fatty and charred tasting. The waiter never came back to ask how our food was or if we needed anything (we almost had to tackle a busboy for bread and water). At the end of the meal we told the waiter about the ribs and he said if he knew, he would have done something about it. THIS is why you check on your tables at least once. I appreciated his response but better service would have made a big difference. I was not about to go walking around the restaurant looking for him. Oh...and the sangria.....we only wanted a half pitcher but I'm not sure if our waiter understood what we were saying. He kept saying "full pitcher $27". I saw half pitchers on other tables but I have no idea what it cost. It might have been on the menus but they were snapped up and never got another chance to get another one. So, no sangria for this meal. All in all, would NEVER go back. You can throw a rock in Newark and hit a spot that makes paella. I'm absolutely positive there is better and I'm sorry the good reviews on this place led me astray. :( read more

We hardly give a place 5/5 rating, but this place deserves one. Service is absolutely amazing. The place is super cute, u can either sit by the bar, or go to the back room and have table seatings. K, Food. One of the best seafood places that we ve been to. Just a small tip, try to stay away from the meat and stakes. This place cooks seafood much better than anywhere else and I would suggest u get ur steak cravings fixed somewhere else. We ve tired everything, from lobster, to king crab to clams and what not, and every time its been very good. They have amazing Paellas too. Prices are also very good, as we would pay almost double and toll fees if we were to have these in NYC. If u like seafood or Spanish food, this place must be tired! read more

Went there. The staff ignored us, like we couldn't pay. The restaurant wasn't even full. We ended going to Adega grill down the block.

The world is like ending because of the covid 19, but have no worries !!! Seabra marisqueira Will have it's doors opened just to make matters worse. It's Mother's Day and I figured I'll make it a special day for the mothers in my family, and order some good quality food. They told me to be there at 1:45. I decided to show up at 130 and waited outside for my food till 4 and I ended up leaving. ( with no food ) soooooo the mother's in my family ended up with no food for Mother's Day. The most amusing part out of this story is that they ended up calling me at almost 7 letting me know that my food is ready. They literally ruined Mother's Day for me and everyone else that was waiting on food. They had people outside waiting on food and they had ordered a week ago for this special occasion. It's funny because when we show up late for a reservation, the restaurant gets angry with us, but if we show up on time to pick up our food and it's passed 3 hours and I'm still waiting, they tell us that we have to be patient and wait. I mean how long do we have to wait ??? A day ??? A week ?? Maybe a year till next Mother's Day possibly?????? This is a prime example of people being greedy and wanting more money. My question is, if you can't handle all these orders and only have a total of 5 people working including cooks, then why bother taking my order and lie to me ?? Why would you lie to me on Mother's Day ??? Is this a joke to you ??? The waiter literally came outside and said please be patient we have about 50 orders to take care of. Lmao are you serious !?!?!??!!?!??!?? Why didn't you guys just throw in the towel for a bit and stopped taking orders until you catch up. GREED !! Well long story short when they called me to let me know the food was ready I laughed and hung up. Good thing I didn't pay ahead of time . It only took them almost 7 hours to get my lunch ready . I ended up picking food up just for my self at casa vasca ( about 5 minutes away ) and I got my food in 45 minutes!!! Now that's a restaurant that knows what they are doing !! Okay well the rant is over lol. read more

This was one of the most wonderful dining experiences I have ever had in Newark. My date and shared the cold seafood appetizer platter for four, paella valencia and the grilled skirt steak. We also had several pitchers of red sangria. Talk about gluttony!! Although we were completely stuffed after devouring the fantastic appetizer platter we couldn't help but eat half the paella and stuff as many bites of steak down our throats as possible before we started to feel sick. This meal was fantastic and there were leftovers. I can't wait for another special occasion to go back. read more

Well tonight the family try for the 1 st and most likely last time this up beat and super loud restaurant . When we arrived we had to wait in small but view full area . You could view the cooks behind the glass , I would said chefs but when you taste the food you understand. I had the twin stuff lobster tails 35 bucks this meal largely over priced for the amount of food and once the taste of the phone felt like they don't used any type of seasoning or the food was at best not even enjoyable. My Portuguese chips were cold and tasteless more like eating a plain potato . When you spend a total of 130 bucks for two adult and a three year old you think your getting quality , not at this place ! Wife had the paella very large she said it was average.my daughter eat off the kids menu they served her raw fries which I need to send back ! Come on people get your act together! I will stick with the three other larger name Portuguese restaurants in this area. The sangria was like cheap bottle wine they used sunny d to cut it down . We seen them mix sunny d and red wine and some fresh fruits , wow we got take For a ride at this joint ! They only thing positive and why I gave it a two star review was that the staff was very nice and friendly! To the guy who wrote that the food was bland you were right on the money !ps one thing I want to add they charged us 6 bucks for a kids cup of apple juice , a small paper cup! Could of bought a case or sip boxes or two gallons of apple juice they charged it as soda ! I might got scammed who knows ! read more

It's a great place! Easy parking, great sea food for a decent price. People without pictures on their YELP profile shouldn't give opinions; they might just be the competition, or bad redundant tippers who waiters might not be able to forget. Who knows.... I've seen people demand service and act like the waiter is a slave and when getting a $98.65 bill they leave $1.35 tip from the $100 they pay with and can't stop talking about how good the food and service was. I know that if I was a waiter I wouldn't care about them coming back. But the food should still be great, the cooks don't get a share of the tips neither does he get a chance to see who the demanding people are. His job is to cook. And the food never fails in my opinion... Worth a try... read more

I am rating them one star to be able to write this review otherwise I'll give them cero. Service in general was bad, starting with cold bread and the impossibility of the waiter to describe the plates. When I asked what kind of sea food came in a platter the waiter answered " SEAFOOD" and left. In regards to food quality, I am disappointed. Fish was salty, fishy, hard to chew and soaked in olive oil. Oysters where mooshy and tasteless and the paella was flavorless. The vegetables I got where a combination of frozen, over cooked (maybe both) carrots with broiled potatoes and cold coleslaw altogether. Portions were big but not enjoyable. At this point I didn't dare to try dessert but it wasn't offered anyway. If you don't have a taste for sea food and rarely eat it you might like what Seabras serve but if you ever had good sea food before this place will definitely give you a horrible experience. read more

I wasn't impressed with Seabra. Some of it is my fault. Being a vegetarian, I should have known not to go there. But I wasn't in charge of choosing the restaurant that night, and I figured that there'd be at least one thing I could eat. The menu had virtually nothing vegetarian. The only thing that I could find was a bowl of vegetable soup. It wasn't very good. It tasted bland, canned, and salty. My "meal" came with bread. Although there was nothing special to it, I think that was the best part. Also, I looked at the menu, and (although there were a lot of bottles of wine for sale) I didn't see any prices for a glass of wine. I asked, and the waiter told me that they had two types of wine by the glass: Portuguese white wine and Portuguese red wine. Having only two choices, I chose the red. It tasted fine, but I'm not very picky when it comes to wine. read more

What a great experience we had here!! My mother in law lived in Portugal for a year and was looking for some authentic food. She said everything here was spot on. The food was fresh & there were huge portions. We started with the calamari and for the first time the calamari was thick cut..not tiny bits of fried dough. The staff is all really friendly and eager to help. I loved the bread. Even though you'll be stuffed, don't skip ending your meal with the coffee. To die for! read more

Ummm, yea, came back in October. Again, it was delicious. The portions are still as large as ever, and the food is still as good as I remembered. I don't drive into Newark voluntarily - this is one of the reasons. This place is easily accessible off of the train from Penn Station. The walk isn't that bad either. I must say though - the appetizers they have in the center island of the bar - if you get a full portion, the price isn't that bad. But if you ask for a smaller portion, it doesn't make sense - just pay the few extra dollars and get much much more. The crab claws are crazy expensive though! read more

Upon first arriving you walk thru the bar area to the back dining area where you get a good view into the kitchen where you can see all the seafood being cooked. We started with the octopus salad which was chopped pieces of octopus in olive oil and onion, garlic and parsley. It was a large portion for 2 people, probably could serve four. We then had the seafood platter off the special menu which was good. Everything tasted pretty fresh and it was definitely more than enough food. It included a whole lobster, clams, baked oysters, muscles, fish, rice and shrimp. Service was ok, I've had better in Newark. read more

I've been coming here for over 10 years. We came back last night and it was as good as anytime I remember.
