Gorgeous location and plenty of free parking in the municipal lot next door, although be warned, park like a jerk and you will get a ticket. The bar was PACKED on friday around 5pm when we arrived. There are some picnic tables and seating adjacent to the bar to enjoy drinks, no food. No service, you walk up to the bar yourself. Food was amazing! Portions are gigantic and everything was delicious. Friday through Sunday you need to call for reservations, we tried 3 times, no answer and no call back but we did get seated outside. Service stinks. Automatic 20% gratuity added to all checks. Our waiter disappeared constantly, never checked in to see how are food was, left us wanting more drinks. We had to flag down another server to get the bill, then run it. We will definitely return for drinks, hopefully the bar service is better. The Flan is amazing! This past weekend my siblings and I celebrated my mom's birthday here. I haven't been here since I celebrated both my daughter's Quinces and the place has been completely updated. It looks great inside and out, while also being surrounding by stunning views of the waterfront. We dined inside in the main dining area. They specialize in Portuguese cuisine and serve many traditional dishes. The appetizers were delicious and the food was good, but it was not all served to us at the same time and some of us had to wait. The service started out great, but as the restaurant filled up, we saw less and less of our waiter. Thank goodness for the busser Johanna who stepped in and took great care of us. This was my first time dining here in years, so I barely recognized it from the inside. It has a large dining space that also extends outside. Its waterfront location makes it a well known restaurant and preferred choice, overlooking the Raritan Bay. I ordered the steak which was minimally seasoned, served with yellow rice and chips. For dessert, I had the creme brûlée which is my go-to dessert. Everything was just okay, not bad but also not memorable. I recognize this is a seafood restaurant, and I did not order any seafood. Never seen a place where you order drinks, they will give you a receipt with the total, not itemized items, and it has where you can add the tip. However, when I asked if the tip was already included (because my husband went earlier and knew they were adding because he asked for itemized bill), he said he's, it was included. Seabra's Armory is an excellent restaurant, save for two dings, sitting at the Perth Amboy waterfront. January is not the time of year to appreciate this location fully, but the restaurant interior is a large space with the front desk to the right of the entrance and the bar located behind the desk. The kitchen is on the left as you walk the length of the bar and it's large window allowing patrons to see its operations is confidence inspiring. Making my reservation was easy with a simple phone call and I arrived on time for my 5PM reservation. I asked for a seat with a good view, which was accomplished, but was of little utility at this time of the year when one is inside and daylight is short. I was immediately seated and poured a glass of ice water and my server, Gerculano, left the pitcher of ice water on my table. Nice touch. The bread he left was even better. I don't know the name of this Portuguese bread, but Portuguese restaurants serve this sourdough type bread and it is always a hit for my palate. It was served warm and the butter spread and melted into the bread nicely. I also ordered a great Portuguese brandy, CR&F Reserva, made from grapes. It has a nice mouthfeel, with some oils to accompany the smooth finish as it moves to the back of the palate. The notes did not stand out until later. We will come back to this brandy and why I recommend it. I ordered the Rodizio all you can eat, which, at $53, is a good value. I ordered medium rare, which was followed to a certain degree. Many of the cuts were coming out medium, but none overcooked for my tastes and preferences. They were all juicy and tender for the most part. They started bringing it out as you would find at Brazilian steakhouses, minus the green and red coun or whatever the Brazilians typically display on the table. The first marinated chicken chunks were actually very good. If you're working this to get to the steak, I would not skip the marinated chicken chunks, but I would skip the wings (had 2) and the sausage, the latter I did not have owing to the steak mission. Skirt and flank were better than the bacon wrapped filet minion and garlic steak. The sirloin is where it gets good. Even the cheese steak, steak with cheese cubes melted into the steak was very good. When you see the C shaped pinwheel steak come out, pay attention. That is really good. So is the short rib. Yeah, the short rib is very tender and the fat and marbling lend lots of flavor. The prime rib was the absolute best and it was served fairly close to the end of the meat servings. I only asked for a few slices of the spit, thinking I was near the end of my capacity and I could ask for more if I wanted. Well I was mistaken and this is where the first of two dings of the rating emerges. I was told there was no more prime rib and it was very early in the Saturday evening service. I asked twice. That is dishonest to me and it would ask that I set aside rationale and reasoning to accept they were out so early on a Saturday. The bottom line is when they serve you the prime rib, ask for as much as you can within your capacity at that moment. They will not come by with it again. This is one item that is not AYCE, but it is part of the Rodizio AYCE offering. Now I forgot to mention they serve a healthy amount of fries and fried onion rings with this meal. There is also shredded garlic greens, which may be collards, with the fries and onion rings. You also receive white rice and black beans. So this is a very high value meal and would make an ideal choice for many patrons. Many people around me, couples and large parties, were ordering the same. Now on top of it all, there are flambeed pineapples served in a sweet liquor sauce with cinnamon that sparkles when shaken onto the flaming pineapple slices on the plate. Not only does the acidic pineapple cut through the savory feast you just had, but its flavors bring out the flavor notes of the CR&F Reserva brandy. Brandy often has cinnamon notes as well as tropical fruit and oranges. All that comes to life in the brandy with the flaming pineapple, which is included in the Rodizio price. The brandy was necessary as a digestif, whether or not it actually helps. I waddled out of Seabra's Armory to my next destination after this lavish feast and it was a necessary half hour walk in the cold air. Just what the doctor ordered. I would have otherwise been in bad shape. My bill came to a reasonable $86, but here comes the second ding: they put the 20 percent gratuity on the check already. I really do not like this practice. It leaves a bad taste for the patron and it detracts from my evaluation of the experience at restaurants. I gave Herculano an additional cash tip for his work, but that does not excuse this practice. Leave the tipping to patron discretion please. Three and a half stars... read more

Extremely disappointing service. We waited over 30 minutes at the bar, and the bartender, Alex, ignored us multiple times. When we finally got his attention and mentioned we had been waiting and felt ignored, his response was dismissive and unprofessional--saying, "If you're going to talk to me like that, I'm not going to help you." I've had worse. The waterfront location, high prices, and three dining areas - under umbrellas, under a canopy, and indoors - scream tourist trap, but the meal slightly exceeded expectations. The strawberry basil crush is sweet and balanced, and the crab cakes crunchy and fishy on the finish. In fact I'd say the crab cakes were the best part of the meal, despite the busy presentation. Everything else was underseasoned. And that's a shame, because the seafood is definitely fresh. The nicely seared halibut has crispness, but not flavor, and I pulled four - four! - bones out while I was eating. The gorgeously broiled salmon was dry. My "baby" spinach was just regular spinach. Everything lacked herbal notes. At least the portions were generous. Our waiter did put in the wrong protein, but volunteered to fix it, unlike a previous poster. (We declined and so he offered us a free drink instead.) It got really loud at 4:30p on a Friday as they amped up the outdoor music to attract customers. read more

Great attentive service by the host and were introduced to our server, Herculano(yes, he told us & spelled his name). Very attentive and service was excellent. To start, fenomenal octopus salad, good enough for two, as we awaited for the main course. All else was like cherry to a cake! Can't wait to return with the family and close friends. I have been here many times for years and continue to return even though I no longer live in the area but typically host an annual family dinner there as I did last night. I've always felt the food has been very good. I have no issues with the quality or quantity of food. Its prepared and served well. It is on the expensive side but you're not coming here for a bargain and I know the cost of food, labor and general overhead has been rising in recent years. I paid a lot but don't feel I was overpaying for what we received. The service is attentive and efficient though I would not characterize it as warm or engaging. There is a vibe of arrogance that comes with it that is difficult to characterize. The examples would seem trivial but cumulatively leave an impression. The location is easy to get to with abundant parking very close . Some of our group is older, with limited mobility, travelling in multiple vehicles so this is a big plus for us versus comparable places where you might be looking for street parking. The one thing that surprises me that I have encountered on more than one occasion is that, even having renovated significantly in recent years, the first thing that hit me last night as I walked in the front door was a strong smell from the bathrooms that permeates the lobby, hostess stand and likely one end of the bar, a huge turn off considering what the place aspires to be. The bathrooms are nicely renovated but smell awful. I don't know what the problem is but it is worthy of investment in better ventilation/frequent cleaning because its a tough first impression. We asked again at reception since it was a Monday evening with plenty of empty tables. The receptionist said she would check with her manager, but before the manager arrived, a waiter kindly accommodated us and gave us a table. The dining staff were generally polite, but the experience felt unnecessarily complicated--as if allowing us to dine inside came with strings attached. We ordered two mocktails, but when the drinks arrived, we immediately tasted alcohol. We double-checked with the waiter, who insisted there wasn't any, yet the bill reflected cocktails, not mocktails--adding $5 more per drink. On top of that, the sausage platter was overcooked and partly burnt. The one highlight was the calamari, which was excellent--crispy, tender, and flavorful. Overall, we couldn't shake the feeling that the mistakes and confusion were part of the "circus" around letting us sit in the dining area. read more

Adding insult to injury a lot of their items include potato chips which they deceivingly call "Spanish Potatos. Stop lying, they're not "Spanish Potatos" they're just potato chips. This was our first visit to Seabra's Armory and it was all I expected it to be. The decor is rustic with a modern vibe. They have an open view kitchen (very cool). The service was good, our drinks and appetizers came out quickly and the apps were hot and delicious. We had the garlic shrimp and fried calamari, my drink was the white sangria. For the main course I ordered the grilled halibut, my husband had the paella marinara and our friends had the Surf and turf, everything was hot, fresh and delicious. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu and the nose warmer coffee! Funny name but so good. We will be back this summer to experience their outdoor dining. read more

Our family has been dining at Seabra's for decades and we finally returned last night. It will be our last visit to the old armory. The dining experience was atrocious, but our family still managed to enjoy the reunion. Without detailing every single aspect of the food quality and service, I'll leave you with these highlights: 1. The owner / manager parks his sportscar right in front of the restaurant to let everyone know he's there, however his oversight is nowhere to be found during the dinner service that falls off the rails. I'm pretty sure that was him flirting at the hostess stand all night on the way to the restroom. 2. The food is expensive, but this is not fine dining on their outdoor patio overlooking the harbor. The owners made sure of that with the flat screen televisions and by piping in loud Latin music to give the establishment a taqueria vibe. 3. The restaurant placed their kitchen in the center of the restaurant in a glassed-in fishbowl arrangement. It's some kind of take on an open-kitchen design that displays just how understaffed they are and reveals things patrons likely shouldn't see. Oh, there's my lost waiter playing on his phone! If you are looking for potent-yet-boring sangrias which soften an otherwise miserable dinner service, this is your place. read more

Over the passed years we went for Easter Brunch paying anywhere from $700.00 to $800.00 with about 9 people. My son is highly allergic to seafood and cannot eat the food so they made a special dish of steak for him. This year they accused my wife of lying about his condition and that he did not eat the steak last year. The managers name is Alejandro and was extremely rude accusing my wife several times of lying about his medical condition and will not accommodate. This place acts like they are high end but they are very sub par with quality of food and do not realize there are better places to eat. We just held our 50th high school reunion here. WELL, the food was well over cook the chicken was so dry was a tad difficult to cut. The green bean/broccoli tray was so over cooked you could have mashed them with no problem. Tortellini was soft and over cooked too. I heard the fish was over cooked also and very dry. The staff was excellent! Last but least, their was another event down stairs and their music was SO LOUD our music could not be heard at all, talking to each other was a challenge. We were told twice they would ask the other party to lower the music, that never happen. The location is nice, HOWEVER, as we were sitting there you can smell sewerage every once in a while. We ordered only 2 drinks. However, the beauty of the restaurant inside and out, coupled with the incredibly delicious food, extensive menu and top notch service will leave you wanting to return. The Armory is a huge event space and restaurant right on the water in Perth Amboy. The last few visits I've made here I ordered the rodizio. Honestly, If you are planning to get steak anyway this is the way to go because it's such a good value. I like that my whole party didn't have to order rodizio for me to be able to have it. My wife and I went to the Armory today and had the twin lobsters. The food had a strange taste to it as did the water. Additionally, they try to force you to tip the server twice: the total amount due is shown on the check. Twenty percent is then added to this amount and the total is shown. When you sign the cc slip, there is a space to add a tip. Most people would not notice this so they would leave an additional 20% tip; the server is in fact getting paid twice. STAY AWAY! read more

I was here recently with a group of friends and we had a great time. What impressed me mosg were the great drinks and spectacular views of the shoreline when pulling into the garage. Even from the windows inside the restaurant you can still catch a glimpse of the sea. This place was epic and larger than life. I felt like saying "pandemics over!" eating here. Lots of festive people having a good time. There was the smell of the meat cooking on the grills and the raw seafood on ice displayed in the open kitchen. I had the seafood paella, which was ok not great. Kinda salty. I also tried the 36 ounce bone in ribeye. We ordered it medium rare but it came out medium to medium well. I'm a big fan of this place. It might not be the coziest spot, but the fantastic vibes it offers during the summer win me over. The only reason I had to cut back on coming here is because I ended up spending a small fortune, haha. I typically just come here for drinks, which I wouldn't say are out of this world, but they're pretty strong- so I can't really comment on much else. That being said- The place is quite spacious, both inside and outside, so I can't imagine having trouble finding a seat unless it's exceptionally crowded. From what I know, it's essentially the same restaurant with different settings - the outside is more like a bar, while the inside feels more like a restaurant. They're welcoming to both small and large parties. However, do keep in mind that the bar has limited seating, so it might be a bit of a hassle if you're hoping for a seat and there's no other available seating. During the warmer months, you can sit outside, but you'll need to make a trip to the bar to get your drinks yourself. read more
