We visited Seacoast Vet for the first time with our 11 year old Nina Simone (Bichon Frise). Dr. Dee and her staff were prompt in coming to the car to get Nina (due to covid 19). They were friendly and knowledgeable. The communications was awesome. Every step of the way Dr. Dee came out to explain what she was doing for Nina. I saw her doing this for others waiting for their pet as well. The overall experience was nice due to the current situation. I get a little anxiety when I'm unable to be in the room with my dog to make sure she is ok but Seacoast Vet eased a lot of it. Great overall customer service. Finally adopted a puppy after many years of indecision, but I knew that I would be taking him to SeaCoast Vet for his exams and vaccinations. I've known Dr. Dee for many years and have always been impressed with her love & caring for all animals. She and the staff at SeaCoast treated my puppy like a king and were happy to answer all my newbie questions, even with all the restrictions required by Covid regulations. Dr. Dee is useless and very unhelpful. My dog suffered from chronic seizures and needed medication to prevent them. She would repeatedly deny me refills and had me make repeat visits to ensure my dog was suffering from seizures. Even though she witnessed my dog seizing on her initial examination. She has no interest in bettering the lives of pets. If you love your pet please do not take them to Dr. Dee. She is very unhelpful and does not take the owner's opinions/feelings into account. read more

She always explains the what and the whys along with a thorough explanation of charges. Never leaves until you have the bug picture. I took my puppy to Seacoast back in 2018 because I needed someone to see him quickly because he wasn't eating (he had a parasite). We ended up signing up for the puppy plan, which made the whole first year's shots and neuter so easy. I switched to a vet closer to my home in 2019, and they never compared even closely to the service and price for care that I got at Seacoast. Since we just added some new kittens to our family, I decided to make the switch back to Seacoast. We got our first round of shots today, and I was very impressed with the check in procedure, speed of taking my cats and getting the estimate, and the time it took to get the work done. I will be going back for the kitten plan, and trust that Dr. Dee isn't going to upsell me like my last vet did. read more

I struggled for years with my cat Bobby girls urinary issues, taking her to see three different vets. Then I moved back to IB and took her back to Dr. Dee remembering how nice it was. Bobby is now back to being her normal self! My other cat was just in today because she is showing early signs of kidney disease. Signs I would have missed if it weren't for Dr. Dee's suggestions. Unfortunately since animals can't tell us what's wrong sometimes it takes different tests that may seem unnecessary, but I have never left feeling taken advantage of- Dr. Dee always explains the process and doesn't push for anything other than my girls health. I miss seeing the little sign with their names on it when they have appointments, but I appreciate the measures taken for COVID, even if it means I can't be with them during visits. read more

Our maltipoo Zsizsi was squinting, so we brought her to Dr. Kara. After a couple diagnostic tests in-office, she determined that Zsizsi had ulcers in her eyes and prescribed a regiment for eye care, explaining everything carefully. She also wanted her to see a vet ophthalmologist because her symptoms were so severe. I called both places she recommended, but neither could see her for six weeks. Dr. Kara immediately emailed both, explaining the severity of the problem, and we were able to get her into surgery the next day. Thankfully, Zsizsi is doing well. I want to add that, with all of our pet's illnesses, Dr. Kara has been wonderful about communicating with us, even emailing me to check on her progress. She really cares and explains things so well to anxious pet-owners like us. read more

I would have initially given 5 stars. But after calling 3 months after my last visit to schedule a neuter, Dr. D (whom answered the phone) said we would need another exam prior to the surgery. The surgery she suggested 3 months ago that we waited for. Now my problem with this is that I've worked in This industry at several different hospitals (all AAHA, dr. D.) and never have I heard this suggestion for a neuter, especially when she checked to make sure balls were both there etc at last visit. Now, after the doctor's recommendation of waiting we are having to look for another dr that we trust won't scam our single income family. Do not bring your pets here if it's more than a standard checkup. This place gave my dog more shots and prescriptions than required and equaled into my dog sadly passing away. She was our baby and it broke our families heart. We took her to another vet because she wasn't getting any better through Seacoasts care, and they said the previous person must have been uneducated because their were obvious signs that our doggy did not need what they recommended and diagnosed. By this time it was too late for our dog and she passed away from poor judgment of treatment. One of the biggest concerns is when they told us our dog required surgery for her leg when the other vet x-rayed her and showed she was fine when it came to her leg and just needed joint meds. If it's not more than a standard shots, please save your doggies and your money and take them somewhere else. read more

Our dog Freddy loves going to the vet. He always gets lots of love and plenty of treats. We havve had multiple techs and each one was friendly and helpful. The doctor is very nice and keeps us informed. If you are in the IB area and need a vet, there is no good reason to use anyone else. Sea cost veterinary group gets 5 stars from me. So unprofessional. Awful customer service. So rude. Not hospitable at all and most of all I feel so sorrry for my traumatized pet. They lost our appointment slot and says it happens with their computers all the time . Over booked everyone with only 1 veterinarian 1 vet tech and 1 receptionist. on hand. (We waited in front in our car and stared waiting for our pet) The Quality and professionalism is depressing. They literally just want your money. Made us wait in our car for a recheck appointment and we asked prior too and they said it'll be a 30min appointment. We waited 2.5 - 3 hours in our car and they said we couldn't leave and told us to wait in front. They didn't care about my pet. They made my pet wait 2 hours for her recheck health exam when they took her away and they probably spent 5 mins to recheck and then spent the rest of the time upselling and overbooking everyone. Made us wait only to come out to proceed to upsell their packages about getting more money from us while never checking up on our pet at all. I'm furious. . This tiny office took in possible 15-18( pets) from 2pm-4pm so I'm almost sure the quality of service is not attentive or nor do they care about the well-being for your pet. They just want your money . How can you give quality service when you book so many pets in a tiny office without many workers and have like over 7 patrons parked outside waiting for their pet. They need to be more organized and need a new system . They just kept up selling and telling me to buy more things and to keep rechecking to spend more money without even checking on my pet in the first place. Neglecting my pet leaving her completely terrified. Trust me. They don't care about your pet. My pet came home super skittish,anxious, traumatized and terrified after a simple recheck. She's literally crying and trembling after a simple recheck ... I definitely don't trust this vet. I'll just stick with Banfield or Kearney Mesa vet clinic. It's also really expensive and not worth the prices. You can get cheaper vaccines and better quality service at most other places... read more

I don't know why any of you would give them or Dr Dee one star She LOVES animals! Those of you complaining about cost should get pet insurance--it's like us having medical insurance (I'm sure you would not like to pay the upfront cost of your dr visit, labs, meds, etc and I'm not talking just a copay). No human dr would just refill medicine without seeing you first and running tests no matter how long you were on it. Your condition can change and you might need a higher or lower dose. Good to hear you went to someone else so they have less stress dealing with you...and I don't know what this other persons version of "bedside manner" is because if you want some sugarcoated lie, that's not my doc--she (and those that work there) will tell you EXACTLY what is going on and your options. You can tell them what you want and don't want them to do, then sign for it. If you can't handle the truth about the life you are charged with caring for...well...ugh. Just don't blame someone for your version if honesty. There are lots of vets to choose from, just wait on the standards to show themselves. We tried a couple different ones around town when moving here 7yrs ago--As for me and my dogos, we will stay here. read more

I gave Dr Bill, the previous owner, five stars, but stay away from the clinic now!!! I took my dog in for allergies, and they tried to pressure me into tests, tests, and more tests, in an attempt to rack up the bill. They utilize guilt tactics, trying to make you seem sub human if you dont follow their course of treatment. As I said, my dog was having seasonal allergies. He always gets them. Rather than giving him the shot with me in the room, they insisted on taking him into the back. I dont believe they ever gave him the steroid shot (typically when he gets it, the effect is immediate, he stops scratching, and he drinks tons of water, but NOTHING). When I called back later to voice my concerns, the snide receptionist, Richard, told me I would have to wait until the FOLLOWING week, as the doctor I saw was only on duty on the weekend. The vet on duty could not take two minutes to address my concerns! So I had to take my dog to IB Pet Hospital for treatment! What Bullshit! I am the Organizer for the San Diego Off Leash Meetup, and have warned all my members about this shady vet. Do yourself a favor and stay away! read more

I love Dr. Dee and so do both of my pets. Prices aren't bad and they communicate very well with the customers with phone calls and e*mails. The only down side is that the older lady at the front desk isn't very professional and never listens to what I have to say. Was recommended to Seacoast vet by a friend that has been taking her dogs for a few years. They are all very nice and loving to all animals that come in to visit them. Staff lovely and clean place. The vet is very rude and not understanding if she recommends things that are very expensive. Felt like I was judged as a bad pet owner because I was not able to pay several thousands of dollars and declined a procedure when coming in for a completely different reason. Not to be too emotional here, but I had to bring my first dog to be euthanized at Seacoast. Being a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit, I knew when my baby was ready to be free of his failing body. I had a very terrible first vet experience with my new puppy. The veterinarian made me very uncomfortable. She never introduced herself or identified herself as the vet. She was unsympathetic when I expressed how uncomfortable I was having to stay in the car and not be with my puppy during the procedures. She gave me no information about how the examination went. I was just given a laundry list of recommended items. When I finally found out she was the vet, I felt such a poor rapport with her that I wasn't comfortable asking any questions. I just wanted to get my poor puppy back and get away. I will never return. I don't feel she is trustworthy. read more

We were trying to find a vet for my moms new dog. We received so many different recommendations for different vets in Imperial Beach, South Bay and Coronado but every time I looked up the Yelp reviews, the reviews always had great reviews along with horror stories. I finally decided you can't always rely on Yelp reviews.... You need to figure it out yourself. With that said, here comes my Yelp Review (lol): I decided to try the local Imperial Beach vet here at SeaCoast Vet Group. Right off, the staff was super friendly to Rocco and were very helpful figuring out his micro chip registry. We came in for Rocco's 1 year consult/health check up and to make sure he was up to date on all his vaccinations, rabies, flea, heartworm etc. Dr. Dee was very friendly and thoroughly checked Rocco out. She explained all her recommendations so that I could make informed decisions. Then her technician came in to review all the cost estimates and review each item (I love when businesses/doctors explain items and don't just try to force procedures... Caring for a pet becomes a partnership with the vet that way). I felt the costs are very reasonable and nothing seemed outrageous. I'm all about supporting local businesses and paying for good service. The techs and staff were going take Rocco to the back for his shots and blood procedures, and I asked if I could be present. They were very kind and accommodating as they just wanted to make sure we were ok with needles. They kindly did all the procedures in the exam room with us present. On leaving, the staff were very good about explaining any potential reactions that Rocco may have to the vaccinations and what to do. This was a positive first experience with Dr Dee, and her friendly staff at SeaCoast Vet Group. We are looking forward to a great long-term vet relationship! read more

Super rude. I felt extremely disrespected. Vet was incredibly condescending. When I take my pet to a vet, I expect them to 1. Put my pet's health above anything else, especially profit and 2. It boggles my mind how this place isn't rated overall with 5 stars! I decided to take the time to write a review for Seacoast Veterinary Group, because they deserve a 5-star review after what they did for me last Friday! I have a White-Shepherd puppy that just turned 1 two days ago. Unfortunately, our pup has bad separation anxiety when she's left alone. Last week I had to crate her while I was at work, since our backyard is being remodeled. When I got home from work Friday afternoon, my dog somehow managed to move her crate to the other side of the room, rip up the carpet, and was covered in blood from the left side of her face. I immediately took my dog, Nova, to Seacoast Veterinary Group and they saw Nova right away. The received top notch service from people who genuinely cared about what happened to my dog. Overall, they did a fantastic job and were reasonably priced. I'll recommend this veterinary group to anyone in the area. read more

Recently moved to IB and wanted to find a new "home" vet. Although the staff is super friendly, their prices are really high compared to other places (perhaps due to its close proximity to the beach?) $300 for them to check out a bump on my dog's cheek without doing any biopsies... Granted, they had to put him under sedation (not GA), but to walk away with them saying it's nothing at such a steep price tag was quite the shock. They also do not carry my flea medication on hand, so although I'll have to drive further to Pacific Beach for my annual check ups and meds, it's worth the drive for the significant cost savings. read more

We love Dr.D! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats that are all cared for by the staff @ seacoast pet clinic. I've had my male cat and mini poodle, and my late schnauzer memo, all neutered by Dr.D; she explained in detail what to expect and made sure to check up on us regularly to make sure all was well. I get reminder emails so my pets are never late on vaccines, as well as happy birthday emails!! Going to the vet is stressful usually for my babies and I, but they enjoy comming to seacoast! They only checked his bladder in a matter of 2 full days. On the last day we had to pay $600 and wait about 4 days to get medication! After a week they didn't get back to us. They still haven't gotten back to us after 3 weeks so we took matters into our own hands and now our cat is healthy. If I could give this place 0 stars I would! read more

I would not recommend using this vet! Because of work, we move around quite often, and our dog has had multiple vets in the past 10 years. I can say, without a doubt, this is the worst vet we have ever used. Not only are the prices about 15-20% higher than other vets in the area, but their customer service is horrible. The first time we came my dog saw a "traveling" vet. I was charged for a full exam when all they did was look in one ear! Not even both ears and he was there for ear pain!! They did not look at any other part of him and charged and documented a full exam... The second time he didn't even get to see a vet just the vet techs. The front staff and management are very difficult to work with and desperately need training in customer service and communication skills. I am sure the regular vet is wonderful, as many people have written nice things about her. However, the management and assisting staff of the clinic have caused us to look elsewhere for our dog's care. read more

If you are a sucker for infomercials, telemarketers, and scams...this place is for you! I am new to the area and decided to give this place a try. The doctor, the assistants, and the receptionist all tried to sell me OVER and OVER on pet insurance and medications bought exclusively through them. They made it difficult to get the prescription to take to an outside pharmacy and said that medications bought online are unsafe and essentially ineffective at protecting my dogs. The doctor was curt and a bit too casual in my opinion and my dog did not feel comfortable in her presence. I have since taken my other pet to IB Pet Hospital and loved my experience (for a fraction of the cost!). read more
