I've always wanted to try this place for the longest time but lived 2 hrs away so when I was around the area I knew I had to try ... I ordered 8lbs worth of seafood and was on my way home to share with everyone , after the exhausting drive back hitting traffic all I wanted to do was feast , welllllll ..... My favorite place hands down. Been coming here since the first week it opened. It's a byob with just the right warm homie vibe. They are attentive and caring. Ordered fried cat fish today because we've had before when they first opened and it was so good then. Lots of fish and very little batter. Oh boy, should've kept that memory right where it was. Well I am always a little hesitant on going to a new place(especially Seafood) but we decided since it was a nice Sunday afternoon that we would try the crawfish to go and sit on the deck. They only had the frozen but we went with 2 lbs. And got the medium Spicy Boom Sauce. I am happy to say it was fantastic . I was afraid the crawfish would be mushy but they weren't .The sauce was fantastic and the potato and corn in the bag was great (Little tip - order extra corn and potatoes you will not be disappointed. The young lady that took our order was super nice and explained everything. The menu is limited(In a good way ) they just do what is on there real well. i want to go back and get the Dungeness crab in the BOOM Sauce next along with more Crawfish, Eventually try everything. OMG! Haven't had seafood boil since the boiling crab in Cali and I have to say, this place is RIGHT on par with it as far as taste. A very low key hidden gem in a small town. The people were very friendly and accommodating. Service was great! We ordered a lb of shrimp with the BOOM seasoning and for someone who has low tolerance for spicy foods, it was pretty tolerable but still had enough of a kick to it that my mouth is still tingling a little bit. 100% the tastiest and clean tasting seafood around. NO PLACE at the shore compared to this. The sauces are OUT OF this world. Suggestion: order rice, garlic noodles and a side of lemon to take your meal to the next level. Head on shrimp is a must. Black PEI mussels and the crawfish are my favorites. Service is efficient. My favorite type of food is seafood boils. This place has great prices but the shrimp are smaller than other places that I have gone to and aren't cleaned well enough. I tried the number 1 Choice Combo, 1lb Crawfish, 1/2lb Shrimp, 1/2lb Snow Crab, 1/2 dozen Claims, 2 pieces Corn, and 2 Potatos, in a Cajun and Garlic mix. It was delicious the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, I really enjoyed the mixture of the garlic and Cajun sauce. the restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. The shrimp and muscles were excellent. The sweet flavor of the shrimp matched quite well with spicy zing of the lemon pepper sauce. The muscles were tender, mild and well prepared. I really, really messed up. Big time messed up. This place is 6 minutes by gps from the house and I went here to get something for my wife that loves seafood. I figured that I could get fried shrimp and get my Boo the seafood she craves. Soooo.. I look through the menu and ordered a pound of king crab legs with corn and potatoes with boom sauce- medium heat for my wife, and fried shrimp and fries for me. I rushed home with the goods and got into the kitchen and took a seat at the table. I opened my fried shrimp and it was really good. It didn't taste like the previously frozen fried shrimp that most places serve out of obligation. It was a generous portion on a bed of fries that were still crispy. My wife opened her bag of crab legs and ate one leg with a piece of corn. The way she oood and ahhhhd, I figured I'd have a taste...... well, that's where I screwed up. I'm glad that she had previously vacated the kitchen as once I'd had my first taste I fell on them with vigor. When she came back in the kitchen, there was nothing left. It was then that I realized what I'd done. I had finished the rest of her food and drowned what was left of mine in that delicious boom sauce. I had sauce in my beard and running down my wrists. It looked like a crime scene, but it was good and now I'm hooked. Next time I will have to order double the food and go in the basement. This place was so delicious! Their BOOM sauce is on point! Got combo 1, 2, an order of Dungeness crab, and lobster tail. Was a little sad they were out of live crawfish, but the frozen crawfish tasted pretty good. Visited Seafood Boil with a friend last week. Long story short, it was AMAZING. Delicious, fresh, perfectly spiced crab legs (we ordered Cajun, medium spice level). Note this is a highly personal opinion that may not apply to the majority of readers. I got the $40 combo that came with a lot of shrimp, not so much crab legs, two potatoes, and two pieces of corn. 1. Pros: seasoning was pretty good, the place was very clean, potatoes were tender, corn was not soggy or overcooked, and as seafood boils go, probably as good as anywhere. I substituted shrimp for mussels, and as the combo already had shrimp, I had a lot of shrimp for two meals. 2. Cons: NOT a fan of head-on shrimp, which is my biggest gripe. It adds a lot of weight without adding any food (yes, I know some people eat the heads as well, but to me that is gross). Crab legs were pretty large and meaty but not enough of them. The restaurant itself is in a kind of depressing strip mall in Dunellen and would be even worse in winter. Beverage selection was run of the mill. A tad expensive. 3. Need to do: (a) seafood place, especially one that has Cajun recipes, MUST have fresh brewed iced tea on the menu. Not negotiable. (b) Add other types of seafood, like broiled fisherman's platter. (c) Move three or more towns east or one or more west. If you like seafood boils and head on shrimp. you probably will not have a problem with this place. read more
