However, I myself saw a big black rat running so fast from the plant area to the front of produce (bittermelon eggplant area). Many people occupying the table to have a conversation. I will say that I don't ever seen people eating while using the table. With 168 Market a block away Seafood City is still doing great business. You would expect Seafood City being impacted by 168 Market but with a parking lot that is hard to find parking Seafood City is still getting people doing their grocery there. read more

This review is for the food court selling Banana Q, Turon, Kamote Q .. Bought a lot recently costing almost $100 for everything.. I was expecting fresh products considering I shopped early morning, but to my dismay, all of them are hard, no sugar taste and tasted old like from the previous day.. This store is a lot cleaner than I remember it being, so that is a plus. I had called earlier in the day, asking if they carried coconut vinegar for some chicken adobo I was planning to make. After being on hold for 10 minutes, I was told that they don't carry that product and the person hung up without saying goodbye. I know that customer service is basically null these days, so I decided to go to the store and browse for myself. Once inside, I was impressed that Seafood City no longer smells like rotting seafood! The last time I came, the smell was so bad that I couldn't finish my shopping trip due to nausea. All the aisles were neat and tidy and the meat/seafood section was clean. The lines for the grill were long and busy, which I consider to be a good sign. I browsed for only 5 minutes and found 6 different types of coconut vinegar! I'm not sure if the employee who answered the phone didn't understand me, or if they were just lazy. They almost lost me as a customer! I picked up some other snacks and curry that I used to enjoy when I was younger and headed to checkout. The lines were long and moved quickly, which is another plus. If customer service was better, this place could easily be 4 stars. I'll be back if I need more ingredients for my dinners. read more

Where do I start. For information, according to the Solono County website, their food facility has not been inspected in since 2019. Most places are visited 1 time a year. The men's restroom facilities were all in disrepair. The urinal has been broken for several weeks and crime scene tape blocks this area *very appropriate*. The floor was flooded and the vent is on it's last leg sounding like fingernails on a chalkboard. In the isles, especially near this fish area has numerous BROKEN tiles and trip hazard. I saw one elderly gentleman trip and almost fall. They need better lighting as there it seemed dark and spooky. All in all, this place needs an entire makeover for the sake of their customers and employees who are all very nice. We will not be going back until they work things out. read more

Today 4/9/2024, my husband and I went to Seafood City. My husband bout 2 Florida avocados. One was ready to eat and the other was sort of not ripe yet. The price for each avocado was $3.99 each. My husband cut open the avocado that was ready (ripe) to eat. When he cut it open it was rotten in some spots. I called Seafood City spoke to someone. She put me on hold and we got disconnected. I called back from 2 different cell numbers and it rang and rang. No one picked up. I called about 4 times from each cell. It's probably the biggest Seafood City I've been to. Hubbers wanted a homecooked meal for dinner. It was pretty convenient as I had another errand to run not too far away. I figure everything I needed was most likely going to be available here. (They were.) I was fascinated as I walked in. The first thing I noticed is the grill area - it was huge with plenty of choices for cooked food! Good to know! I got the chance to walk around a bit. This store is pretty open and very airy. Every aisle I walked through was organized, clean and roomy. (This is a first - for a Seafood City - for me!) The meat and fish areas were the same. I swear, I think this might be the cleanest SC I've been to! I'm impressed to say the least! If I didn't live over the bridge, I'd be here more often! But really happy to know it's here. Whether or not you like the store, depends entirely on your grocery list. if you're after fresh Asian vegetables, they got them. If you're looking for rice or noodles, they got them. They have quite a few brands for some staple items like the rice. I was a little shocked by the spice section it was extremely limited. Even if limited to Filipino cooking, it's limited. Asian cooking is sometimes defined by the sauces you use. Alas, this is a Filipino supermarket and the sauces are heavily skewed so. I looked for Chinese soy sauce and oyster sauce or certain types of bean sauce and that was it. Where are the Japanese or Korean... oh never mind. Look ye elsewhere. Shaohsing wine? What's that? Some of the shelves had that look of inventory, spread out as far as possible to hide the fact that quite a few of the shelves are empty. I was amazed by how much sweet chili sauce they had until I realize they were spreading it out Alas, I have diabetes and I can't eat sugar or starch. As I walk to the store, it dawned on me that about half the store is off-limits to me. There's a heck of a lot of junk food here. They have some items which are staples in Asian households like certain scent of shampoo, and so forth, but unfortunately, the prices were significantly higher than the regular supermarket. Fun browsing, yes, a real blast from the past. Purchase? No. The best sections are the meat and the fish. You can always tell if a fish section is fresh by the smell. It smelled fine to me when I showed up. When you haunt the regular supermarkets, a.k.a. Safeway, it's really hard to find Asian staples like chicken feet or liver packed in blood. No problem here there are plenty of Asian staples, including boxes of blood. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this supermarket. It's great for fresh foods, vegetables, meats and fish, but I'm going to need another supermarket to stock my pantry. Some reviewers have complained about the cleanliness. I went to the store, rather late in the day, and it seemed reasonably clean to me. You'd expect it to be, well, trashed after a long day, but it wasn't. I did not use the restrooms. read more

This store is totally disgusting! The fish mostly are rotten. It looked like been frozen several times and thawed to display several times. The meat is disintegrating and looks like decaying carcass. You get them cleaned and fried hand them to very unhelpful people then it comes out is one smelly fried fish. I don't think the oil used for frying had been changed for weeks. As you looked over to see the deep fryer all you see is boiling black oil cooking the fish. Workers are mostly incompetent to their job and blocking the aisles with their stocking carts and Filing stocks in the edges of the aisles where people could trip. Avoid this place. This place is so disgusting in all angles. If you want to see for yourself just check the restrooms first thing. Then little nicknacks on the tables with no prices are mostly stale items. Meat is too expensive and not properly prep. The fish are disgusting and takes forever to get price on. This might not be the best Asian market but it has everything I need! My go to for Asian groceries when I can't drive all the way to concord. It even has locally homemade Filipino desserts for sale on the right side of the market. They're so good and satisfying! Right after the cash registers there's even a stand where you could to go a authentic Filipino lunchbox! I always come get this when I'm too lazy to cook. Seafood City is the Filipino version of 99 Ranch Market. So if you have a Filipino neighbor, you probably have a Seafood City nearby your area. LMAO. :p What I like about Seafood City is they combine and rent out their spaces with local Filipino business owners inside the mall. This provides the community and beyond an opportunity to learn about food, culture and travel opportunities to the Philippines. They also cater to a wide variety of Filipino ingredients, even bigger than 99 Ranch Market. I also think the staff at Seafood City seems a bit "peppier." It could be because there's always a party every weekend that goes on at Filipino homes. Make sure if you're invited, don't forget to take home a pasalubongs like Lumpia! :p So the next time your Mom or Lola ask you to buy mallungay, you know where to go right? Cheers! read more

DATING MYSELF: Back in the day, there was only one Filipino grocer in town, here in Vallejo. If you're old school Vallejo, you know exactly what I speak of: Philippine Grocery. It absolutely thrived in it's heyday, back when K-Mart and Pic N' Save were a thing and Better Buy Foods was alive and kicking. If you needed Asian groceries, you really had no other choice. So yes, they had the market here cornered on that area. They were good at what they provided too. But I suppose the old adage is true: nothing good lasts forever. Along came the 2000s, an era of absolute financial struggle in Vallejo. Gone were Better Buy and even it's predecessor, SaveMax. K-Mart was long gone by this point. Yet, Philippine Grocery was still thriving, albeit with a bit of competition from some smaller Filipino grocers that popped up. But at this point, people were already going to the likes of 99 Ranch Market for their needs. Finally, one last nail in the coffin hit for Philippine Grocery: Seafood City. In the Vallejo Plaza, nearby, Better Buy and SaveMax had faded away. Leaving that particular space devoid of any sort of business. Randomly, Seafood City opens in the very same space, along with a bevy of other Filipino businesses (Jollibee, Chow King, Max's (RIP), and a relocated Valerio's just to name a few.) Seafood City was here to stay and Philippine Grocery could no longer compete. So, how is Seafood City as an Asian grocery? Well, in my opinion, pretty good. In terms of what Philippine Grocery offered, they have the same things and then some. Of particular interest to me is the meat and seafood counters. In Vallejo, there's no mom & pops groceries with a traditional butcher. But at Seafood, they have what serves as the closest thing to that. Tons of different fish, as well as a few sushi-cut varieties that are ready to eat. They will even clean and fry your fish. Tons of beef, chicken, and pork as well. Heck, this is the only place in Vallejo that will sell you those brontosaurus-style beef ribs that you're more used to seeing at Texas BBQ houses. So to say I'm a fan of the meat & seafood counter is an understatement. Outside of that, you've got all the Asian snacks, sweets, and desserts you could ask for. Condiments? They got you. You can even buy Kewpie Japanese mayo here. The produce section is always very nice, offering some things that you might not necessarily find at Safeway or FoodMaxx. All and all, while I am sad that Philippine Grocery is long gone (mostly due to nostalgic reasons), I am quite happy that we have Seafood City. read more

Nothing fancy about this place or any other Seafood City market, if you know, you know. They have a food court but everything is next to each other so I was confused as to which restaurant was which. There were very questionable fruit drinks in their ice chest that was a turn off. This market is good for catering from Grill City or any other Asian needs you have. It's crowded and loud. It happened again.!!!!!!!My 3 fried tilapias were missing a piece each and my Bangus (Milkfish ) was also missing a piece . I thought this store ( Concord) is different from Vallejo store ( it happened to me at that store too) but i was wrong . I did not expect this to happen again . I always buy fish here but does not checked after i get home. Today I checked them because i was trying to find another fish that i ordered. I can't believe that it is a trend here at Seafood Supermarket to loose a piece of the fish . Piece of advice, please double check whatever you buy especially fish because i am not sure what is happening here. Those Grill City old ladies in Vallejo don't have customer service trainings. Been there several times, they are lazy and very disappointing .Representing there bad customer attitude affect and reflects the whole Filipino community. Seafood City is cleaner, less cluttered than the usual Asian supermart. buys: 3/.99 (lucky me ramen, chicken/spicy beef flavor) -has palm oil. msg, cane sugar -chicken flavor had chicken bits in it -made by "monde Nissin", partially owned by Japanese Corp.? -ramen had texture of a japanese ramen, smooth, not mushy. take outs: -didn't see much ramen or chip/snacks. -usually don't buy cooking items as I can't cook.... read more

Mango ice cream and LOTS of mango ice cream! What can I say? I LOVE mango ice cream especially, when mangoes are not in season so, buying mango ice cream satiates my mango hunger pangs! I always buy the plastic, gold tub of mango ice cream despite, it's a dollar more than the cardboard container of mango ice cream; the mango ice cream in the plastic container doesn't taste like cardboard-ewwwww, gross! Shopping at this location, I notice the Vallejo store is significantly smaller than the store located in Concord CA so, there wasn't a restaurant kiosk where you may purchase takeout, hot food in the middle of the shopping center. However, waaaaaay in the back of the store by the seafood and meat department, I found a couple of choices for takeout food-Tapsilog and some burnt, overcooked fish that looked unrecognizable! I opted for the Tapsilog despite, the meat looked DEAD and quite tough; no problem, I'll just pay for this and buy some soup and dump the entire Tapsilog into the soup making the entire dish soft. That's how I get around overcooked food-soak it in broth making the meat soft and less chewy. read more

Whenever we need fresh fish we go to Seafood Market. This is one of the biggest Filipino grocery around here. We went there yesterday. As I was waiting for our fish to be clean I saw several cooked fish on the shelf. They look good so I bought a package consisting of three smoked (?) fish ready to eat. I went home and ate one. The fish is very old perhaps it has been on that shelf for weeks. The fish taste like cardboard, its very dry and has no resemblance to anything at all to a fish. I tasted the other three and they are all the same. DO NOT BUY THESE COOKED FISH! I noticed there are other kind of cooked seafood on that shelf. I believe these are seafood that has not been bought and they cook them to resell them. What a shame! I throw them all out. Not fit for human consumption. They are better off burying them instead. read more

Would give a NEGATIVE ZERO IF I COULD : Me and my friend were racially profiled and harassed by the security guards for no reason. We had a transaction error and didn't understand the problem. Neither did our cashier. It took approximately 15 minutes to sort out a simple answer and after that we were okay. As we are exiting the store we notice that the security was very close to us and I asked the supervisor of seafood city if that was Standard procedure she responded saying they where doing there job. We say our goodbyes and proceed to leave the store and head to the car with our groceries. As we are leaving we are being followed and questioned by the male security guard. We remained calm as it was clear we where being antagonized but he proceeded to continue to follow us and say threats. We where followed to our car , blocked in , threatened with a knife by the male security guard and our car was kicked by both male and female employee. My friend is pregnant and we didn't do anything to anyone or ask to be treated in such way. No one came to our defense and when we Called to make a report we where mocked and called liars. First of all, the two pictures here (not uploaded by me) are of DJ Bibingkahan, which is right next to Seafood City. It's kind of confusing when rating this, because I don't really consider the Red Robin, DJ Bibingkahan, and the other small stores in the building as part of "Seafood City." Like a previous reviewer mentioned, it's like a "filipino" 99 Ranch (or Ranch 99, whatever you preference is). Also from a previous reviewer, the #1 tip when going here is to wear clothes that you don't want smelling like fish. The prices here are great, the store is really organized, and there's nothing to complain about (the smell doesn't even bother me after going here so many times).
