What a great experience we had here. First off, Aja brought us to our table and was friendly as can be. Our waitress was Leslie and she was so nice and super friendly. We told them that we were visiting from out of town and they were a wealth of information giving us suggestions on what to do. Then we had dinner we started with the calamari which was so fresh and delicious. I had grilled catfish with veggies and truly enjoyed it. The veggies were cooked just right. Not soggy but crisp and delicious. The fish was cooked just right. Hubby had the same only he added the étouffée to his and truly enjoyed it. I have five words for you: "I am not a fan!" Every single time I've visited this restaurant, I have been unimpressed. Customer service is decent, but the food just ain't it for me, with the lack of flavor being my biggest issue. I'll be fair and say that maybe I need to order better, but shouldn't everything they serve be tasty? Idk..I sadly wouldn't put this place on my recommendation list. All in all, it's okay. I'm wondering if ownership of Sealand has changed. It has always been a fail-safe, go to spot for a nice lunch or dinner...until today. Service was slow and rude. The waitress had no desire to please us, dismissing my concerns. The hamburger was overdone and dry. The Crawfish Etouffee was a thick goopy mess containing almost no crawfish but did have an abundant mound of rice occupying a significant amount of space in the middle of the bowl (not on the side as stated on the menu.) Its mustard color was unappealing - an omen of what was to come. It tasted nothing like any etouffee I've ever had or made. I had a guest with me and was very embarrassed. Anyplace can have a bad day and it's always been decent in the past however, given the server's attitude, it is a no-go. read more

So many ppl think you can't get good seafood in Texas, and boy are they wrong. Cheat code; you want lots of popcorn shrimp? Order the shrimp poor boy. Holy smokes! To be honest the bread was adequate and I skipped on it. I only ate the shrimp. But darn it was good. No, I don't have a problem with bread, or gluten. If they had used an Amarosa roll I would be giving a "10," but they didn't. 2nd trip; this is just a solid place. At least for the two occasions I was there. Good cook days. Services were fine. The waiter we had was young and this might have been his first service job. I had to call him for assistance, due to being busy and it wasn't that full. The Brenham location is my go to seafood restaurant. LaGrange location is okay but not nearly as nice as the restaurant in Brenham. The food: I recommend the Seabass with fresh steamed veggies and a loaded baked potato. My husband recommends the Blackened Catfish with fresh steamed veggies and a loaded baked potato. Food finally came and both the fish and shrimp was way over cooked. Manager was nice enough to let me reorder a different dish at a discount. My family had the best time at Sealand seafood and steak. We sat out on the patio. It had air conditioner fans, which was nice. We ordered a variety of dishes. The favorite was the pasta with the bacon. We also really enjoyed the complementary bread. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing . Our server was very nice. Stayed the the hotel next door to here and thought I'd make it easy on myself and order takeout and walk over and pick it up. The girl who took my order and subsequently handed it to me was as sweet as could be and my steak was cooked more perfectly than I've had at the finest of restaurants for five times the price. It was so tender I had no trouble cutting it with a plastic knife! And this was a sirloin! Can't imagine how tender their filet is! It was also seasoned well and very flavorful. The garlic bread however tasted like fish and although it was excellent in texture was a terrible flavor. The mashed potatoes while containing pieces of skin oddly tasted instant. We found Sealand on Yelp and decided to check it out. We were impressed with the Caribbean vibe and cleanliness. The menu has a wide variety of fried, boiled, and grilled seafood, as well as steaks and burgers, and there were a number of specials posted. Our server Shane did an excellent job of helping us through the menu and went well above most servers in thinking about our food allergies and how food could be prepared. We had grilled red snapper and sweet potato fries, sea bass with a baked potato, and a ribeye with dirty rice. All of the food was prepared perfectly and had excellent flavor. We finally tried this place after driving by it for years, glad we did because it was very good. We shared a large plate of popcorn shrimp and fried shrimp, cole slaw, fries and a cup of seafood gumbo....all good. Most places give you a small bit of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce, here they bring you a large squeeze bottle of both. Carmen was friendly and knew her menu and she was prompt. Any place that gives me great food and service for a reasonable price gets 5 stars from me. read more

I love going here to get the Snow Crab legs. I don't get the corn or potatoes with them, mainly because I want everything to taste different. So I asked for a side of a baked sweet potato with everything on it. The lady brought me fries. Now, maybe they don't serve Sweet Potatoes and I misread it, however the fries were a separate charge and i never touched them. I would have let my server know but she didn't come back to the table until we were all done eating our meals. Also, it's quite warm in there. They do make some of the greatest Long Islands I've had in a long time. There is something for everyone at Sealand and I have no issues recommending it. read more

This standalone building reminds me of the entrance to a hotel. We found out that the original owners intended for it to be a restaurant with a very unique design. Food was great and portions were generous. We had the jalapeño poppers as an appetizer and although VERY HOT (can burn you) they were very tasty. Start by saying that the service was very good with the waiter stopping by regular but not to much to be annoying. Noticed that the staff was attentive at other tables as well. The Positives - Food was just right. Went simple by ordering fried catfish with a side of hush puppies. Catfish was perfect, not over or under cooked which often is the case at other places. Also true of the hush puppies which where tasty indeed. The Cons - the architect is as is what is seen in many other restaurants these days with big open rooms that I tend to call warehous-ie with nothing to break up sound which lends itself to 'LOUD'. Difficult to have a conversation with the person across from you because because your words are drowned under by the wave of sounds bouncing off all the flat surfaces in the building. Definitely will be returning to try some of the other food but maybe I'll sit in the other room. read more

This review is after a second visit made to Sealand, which moved across the freeway maybe a year ago. The newer location is a little tricker to get to if you're headed east from 290 or from town. Those coming into town are better served exiting 577 and taking the feeder to reach the restaurant, but with the motel right next to it, it doesn't stand out. I actually liked the old locale better because aesthetics outside made you automatically know it was a seafood restaurant versus the present material of the building appears to be stucco and has a bronze cowboy water fountain. That definetly doesn't make me think of this place serving seafood, but I digress. The location is much bigger and even has an upstairs area for larger groups and possibly parties. It's a great upgrade for an area that doesn't have many of those kind of venues, but the menu prices have definetly been inflated to cover the upgrades. Think of price point between $15-$25 average for the regular menu. For this area and availability to dine in, it's reasonable, but if you are in the area on the weekday before 3 I believe, you can get the same quality of food for a cheaper price. I'm always lookng for a deal, so on the second visit, My Mom and I both partaked of the lunch menu and were quite full! Seafood is fresh and seasoned just enough that I can taste my food. I enjoy any salad as long as the veggies are clean and not wilted. Additionally, I can't get enough of a baked potato that comes all the way with chives! I would however, stick with the seafood. The chicken fried steak's texture was more of the kind you would find on fried fish. They would do better using the tempura they use to batter the shrimp. Since its addition to Brenham, it has been a constant for great fresh food at a decent price. read more

Sat at the bar and it took 15 minutes before we were able to order a drink. It was obvious they were understaffed. I order a burger and my bf order the mahi Mahi. Both were very over cooked. We sent the mahi back, but was still overcooked the 2nd time. I was also charged $18 for a Tito's martini, which seems a little ridiculous to me. We were hoping it was great since we were staying at the hotel across the street. Very disappointing. read more
