Great place for lunch, many options. They have food ready or you can order off the menu. There was a daily special menu as well.

As a seafood lover ,We are lucky to have chain restaurant in this area by the Highway from Austin to Houston . It has an extensive menu. A lot of options for everyone like seafood ,steak , burgers , and especially they have lunch buffet as well. My friend had grill tilapias and shrimp, she said grilled fish and Shrimp were fantastic. Same goes with the seafood gumbo. It was soul satisfying. Fish all fresh , shrimp oyster scallop were flavorful with Tatar sauce. Generous food potion size. Service is efficient. Friendly and nice , Place looked classic , nice ! Totally recommend for all especially for travelers who passing there.

For a steakhouse it does a some variety from steak to egg rolls. The food is not good my chicken poboy was so tough I couldn't cut it with a knife. The chicken fries steak was all batter. French fries undercooked. They also do not have handicap parking. I would skip this one in Chappell Hill Texas.

Our experience and meals here were unparalleled. The dishes were delightful and the quality of service exceeded all expectations. The place is very clean.

Price would lead you to believe that you are getting higher end food. This is not the case, portions are small and quality and presentation are lacking. For comparison, dennys has far better food if that tells you anything. Price on menu said 20.99 but bill came back 26.99 for that plate. Eggrolls are 2.50 and about the size of a thumb, disappointing. The whole restaurant has a cheap Chinese food restaurant vibe with disproportionate elevated pricing. Etoufee sauce was like a brown flavorless gravy. Fish was cooked ok and tasted fine on its own and the grilled shrimp were a good size and flavor. Salad was lacking but ok for a side salad. No beer or alcohol. Interior could be cool, but seems to be done hastily and on the cheap (mismatched colors, styles and even light bulbs) Overall if the price was half then I feel like you got what you paid for maybe. I say skip this one.

It saddens me to admit that my appetite no longer seems to justify a $14 expense of an all you can eat. The chicken was pretty good. It reminds me of Bush's; good sized pieces, good crust, not very assertive in terms of seasoning (which some might call bland). The bone-in chicken was fresh, hot, and replenished frequently. The tenders were good. I wasn't hungry enough to try everything on the buffet, but if you are, it's probably a good deal. They have a slightly wimpy but adequate salad bar, and a nice array of hot sides. The mashed potatoes were good, you could choose between cream or brown gravy, and the other sides looked good. A buffet that includes the drink is a nice touch. The service was not great. My not very friendly cashier gave me a styrofoam plate (school lunch leftovers I think, with a section marked MILK, ), but not a real tray, and gave no explanation on how to approach seconds at the buffet. While I was there, two different customers had to go ask for a new plate, and almost always had to wait because the cashier was busy elsewhere. When I knocked over my drink, I mopped up what I could with napkins then notified the counter people. They were so unrestrained I wasn't sure they'd even heard me, but one did grab a mop and bucket. I apologized to them as they cleaned up, but no one ever said anything. I don't expect them to be happy about an extra clean up, but decent customer service requires at least acknowledging an embarrassed and apologetic customer!!

Good price, big portions, not welcoming of travelers…read more We came to this location as a random stop on our treks through Texas. When we initially came here, we thought this place was closed because of the lighting. We tried anyways, and there was ample seating and plenty of folks to take care of us. The inside is minimalist, but well enough. They have signs of wear but nothing felt dirty. It's a small venue with some grit, but nothing off putting. Our waitress was a bit short with us, but took our order and directed us to the salad bar. The salad bar being a bowl of lettuce, some tomatoes, and 4 homemade salad dressings. We made a quick salad with the items present and waited for our meal. By the time our meals came out, another couple came in and was seated. The waitress was much more inviting to this new couple, and was more than willing to assist them throughout the meal. So it was very clear that this was a local place with no room for travelers. Which is a crying shame, because the food was actually pretty good. The ribeye the girlfriend got was cooked right and a very good size for the price. The only complaint being they didn't season it and it appeared cooked sous vide. It was more grey than anything and the fat wasn't really rendered out. but it was a perfectly cooked steak, just not finished. The chop steak was also good. A fine gravy, seasoned patty, good quality mashed potatoes and a good sautéed mushroom and onion atop it. The price was very reasonable given the portion. The ribeye under 20 and the chop steak around 13. So for the money, this place is a bargain. Especially since the quality of what's being presented is actually quite good. So long as you're willing to deal with a gruff staff and a well loved dining area, there's a lot to like about this place. If you're a local, you'd be hard pressed to find better around. As a traveler though, you need a thick skin and dirty hands to find those diamonds sometimes. If you don't mind those issues, there's plenty to like.

The prices are more than fair for the quality and portion sizes you get -- definitely one of those places where you walk out feeling satisfied without feeling like you overpaid. The service is another highlight. The staff is attentive and quick, which is becoming harder and harder to find these days. My food came out fast, hot, and exactly as ordered, which shows real attention to detail in the kitchen. The location is convenient and easy to access, making it a great stop for a casual lunch or quick dinner. Now, on the flip side -- the atmosphere could use a little love. It feels a bit dated, and while that old-school charm might work for some, I think a small refresh could make the dining experience even better. The decor and lighting give more "classic local diner" than "vibrant cantina," but it doesn't take away from how good the food and service are. Overall, El Jimador is one of those dependable neighborhood gems where you know exactly what you're getting: great food, great prices, and friendly service. A little modern update, and it could easily be a five-star experience.

I brought my 3 kids with me along with my sister (w/ 2 kids) and another niece of mine (7 in total). The ride to the property was easy and enjoyable along the back roads of Texas and when we arrived we found the property to be amazingly beautiful and peaceful. Check in was not formal and we drove to our lodge and walked in and unpacked. The 1st person we met was the Cook! Grady was very welcoming to us and after I explained food limitations for one of our party he bent over backward to accommodate our needs and did a fantastic job with our breakfast and dinner menus!!!! The Chicken Fried Steak was the best I have ever had. We enjoyed our evenings together at dinner and just hanging out at the fire pit or playing games back at the lodge. During the days we walked around the property and visited the many different livestock (cows, horses, donkeys, turkeys, a duck, and some rabbits). Taunia also organized a gun shoot for us hosted by a cowboy named Brian. He taught us a few things about shooting shotguns. We also went to a nearby pond, did some fishing, and caught a good many large mouth bass. But the highlight for all was the horseback trail ride hosted by John and his son-in-law Craig (real cowboys themselves). John put us all at ease by giving us some good lessons on what do and what not to do and threw in some great stories. Then we took off with our horses for about 2 hours into the pastures and along and through some tree lines and up and down some gullies. None of us had much experience at all with horses but we were all able to get on them and ride them confidently after our training. It was a fun and relaxing ride and the horses were well behaved and trained to not do anything unexpected. The last day of the weekend was spent sleeping in and having a late breakfast and saying goodbye to all of our new 4-legged friends. Thanks again Taunia, John, Craig, Grady and Brian for all of you're horsepitality and kindness. This was exactly what this family of city dwellers needed to charge our batteries a bit. Take care and see you on the range again sometime.
