We've eaten at Nemo's Seafood several times and have really enjoyed it. The coconut shrimp is delicious, and the fish combo is always cooked well and full of flavor. Even the vegetables stand out because they're seasoned so well, which is something you don't find everywhere. The portions are good, and the quality of the food is evident. It is a little on the pricey side, but the fresh seafood and great flavors make it worth it for an occasional treat. 2nd visit; this time we tried the buffet during lunch. Catfish is still one of the best I've had. Fresh clean and great tasting. We tried a myriad of items. Personally, I love Karen's dry sense of humor, she's a waitress there and very helpful. Scalps were darn tasty at the buffet and while we were there, they were bringing out fresh trays. Crab legs were great. Menu said baked potato and I got the potato seasoned with the crab legs. Which they do do for the shrimp boil, but I just don't care for my potatoes like that. I asked for ranch on the side for my salad and they poured it on top. The lettuce itself was all white/core lettuce. Fried pickles were great. Hubby had the fried catfish and shrimp! He says hands down the best fried shrimp. He also loved that they were battered different from the catfish. Not many restaurants do that. Best buffet along 290 between Houston and Giddings...and maybe everywhere. Saw the Burger King sign and was in the turn lane. Thank goodness it was backed up and we looked to the right and saw Nemo. Love a good local cafe, usually. Certainly over fast food. Son got a burger that was huge and fabulous and delicious fries. We did the buffet. Wow what a range and all tasters like Mom made it. The service was fine, the people were polite, the ambience, well, I don't think it had any but that's not important to me. We are here years ago under the old ownership. It wasn't good. Thought we'd give the new owners a try. The menu is so extensive, it reeks of frozen food. No restaurant could keep that much fresh food and hand daily. There is Asian, Italian, American. There is all kinds of seafood and shellfish and Chinese food. It has to all be frozen. My wife has a crawfish tails poboy, absolutely no doubt the crawfish was frozen. I went for the chicken fried chicken thinking that that would be fresh and cooked fresh. If it was, they need a new cook. The chicken was dry as a bone and the fried batter was hard and tasteless. I breed to really chew the chicken. Chicken fried chicken should be moist and have a nice clean tasting crisp batter. The white gravy was completely tasteless. It's too bad, we really don't have a lot of restaurants around us and we were hoping the new owners would step it up but no. Went be going back ever again and I can't recommend in good faith that anyone else eat there. read more

I have never had this bad of service before. I have honestly never written a bad review for any restaurant. My husband and I just went there-we were told by the person seating us he would get us a menu. Ten minutes later I got my own menu. Many times waiters came by and never even took our drink orders. We finally walked out after 20 minutes of not being acknowledged. I will never go there again. read more

As a seafood lover ,We are lucky to have chain restaurant in this area by the Highway from Austin to Houston . It has an extensive menu. A lot of options for everyone like seafood ,steak , burgers , and especially they have lunch buffet as well. My friend had grill tilapias and shrimp, she said grilled fish and Shrimp were fantastic. Same goes with the seafood gumbo. It was soul satisfying. Fish all fresh , shrimp oyster scallop were flavorful with Tatar sauce. Generous food potion size. Service is efficient. For a steakhouse it does a some variety from steak to egg rolls. The food is not good my chicken poboy was so tough I couldn't cut it with a knife. The chicken fries steak was all batter. Price would lead you to believe that you are getting higher end food. This is not the case, portions are small and quality and presentation are lacking. For comparison, dennys has far better food if that tells you anything. Price on menu said 20.99 but bill came back 26.99 for that plate. Eggrolls are 2.50 and about the size of a thumb, disappointing. The whole restaurant has a cheap Chinese food restaurant vibe with disproportionate elevated pricing. Etoufee sauce was like a brown flavorless gravy. Fish was cooked ok and tasted fine on its own and the grilled shrimp were a good size and flavor. Salad was lacking but ok for a side salad. No beer or alcohol. Interior could be cool, but seems to be done hastily and on the cheap (mismatched colors, styles and even light bulbs) Overall if the price was half then I feel like you got what you paid for maybe. I've passed by A & J many times. Now I know why. The other night I stopped and gave the venue a try because I want as pressed for time as usual. It was close to 9pm and I was the only customer. Rather than letting me relax my server began telling me her life story, which might be okay if we were on familiar terms, which we weren't. I tolerated her while waiting on my order, which was simply six oysters. When I think oysters I think large and fresh. My order arrived. A plate with six microscopic sized fried oysters and some crinkle cut previously frozen French fries. I also ordered a vodka and soda, which the server made and served in a tall Pilsner beer glass at a cost of $8.95. All things considered A & J deserves between two and three stars. I'm opting for two. To their credit the menu is vast with many seafood selections. I wish there'd been others diners there that night so I could have spied their meals. Alas, I only have my experience to rely upon. The next time you drive to or from Austin give A & J a try and see what you think. read more

My wife and I stopped today for lunch and wow, we really enjoyed the service, atmosphere and food. Now, I haven't posted much this year due to Covid but those of you who follow me know that I like my ice tea. I would give this place 5 stars but I'm gonna have to ding them on their ice tea. Continuing my rounds of local restaurants today I decided to stop by this place up the road in Chappel Hill. Service was great with just enough attentive as not being annoying. As I open the menu I notice it is very familiar much like the one at Texas Seafood & Steak in Brenham. Upon a query of the waitress I find they are owned by the same folks. Initially slightly disappointing as I had hoped to find a 'new' place but I am already here and do like a few of the dishes at the Brenham location. Maybe I'll try something different. The interior of this location is much more updated and recent with a more 'clean' feel. I order the Stuffed Mushrooms and the Catfish with Scallops Combo. The mushrooms arrived first and they where good, I do believe I will order them another time as well. The main plate arrives and as with the Brenham location the catfish is well above average being neither over or under cooked. I do find the in-house made tartar sauce tasty. My only negative was the scallops. Fried! How does one fry a scallop! I was looking forward to a nicely seared scallop but instead received these batter dipped things with no real flavor. I do not believe I have ever not finished scallops before but I just could not in this case. Overall though I liked the setting at this location more so then the one in Brenham so I may make this one my regular instead. Also the waitress informed me that they have a well stocked buffet during the week, something the other location does not have. I do believe I will visiting in the near future to try that. read more

If you like wet side salads and mediocre service come here on a Friday night. They are understaffed and have no clue what they are doing with a full house of people. We hated that our server's tip had to suffer because she had no help from the manager to take care of her tables. We waited 20 minutes to order our drinks and didn't get refills until we had our food ( an hour in )... we ordered only fried food so it should have been fast and easy. The food wasn't even good enough to justify the wait so we were pretty disappointed. When they brought the check they didn't even bring us a pen to sign our check. We very likely won't be back. If you judge this restaurant against the finer places to eat in Houston you would read it a 2 1/2 to 3. This place just ain't it. The food was atrocious, everything just tasted strange, hard to pinpoint what but the oysters were completely inedible. Sides were pretty bland and the salad drenched in ranch. Service was just not there, between the long waits and back and forth with staff I ended up with my meal in three separate parts and ended up never receiving one of the sides. Finally tried this place. Called it in and it was ready when I got there in 20 minutes. There were about 9-10 cars out front around 1:30 PM on a Sunday. The place was clean, the server was kind, and the buffet looked fresh and neat/tidy. The grilled snapper, shrimp and scallops meal was enough for two meals and pretty standard for no sauce grilled seafood- just what I was expecting and didn't have to drive into the city. Lovey got the double cheeseburger (plain and dry) and fries. The fries were REAL good and the burger had a nice flavor and they use a Hawaiian bread bun. Will be going back. read more

Placed a family order over the phone but gave me coleslaw in stead of salads when I even said I want extra ranch dressings for the salads. Returned to say I didn't get the salads was told sorry you ordered coleslaw. No I did not I even got the extra ranches in the bag. Also only got 8 corn nuggets when should be 10 and was offered nothing in return or the side salads. The food isn't even that great of seafood so save your time go someplace else. read more
