Wow!!!! The food here was amazing. So good it made us miss our visits to Cuba, Mexico, and Miami. Best picadillo empanada ever. My Palomita presentation was such a whimsical surprise. The restaurant itself had great little touches of Latin culture everywhere. The staff here was a group of fantastic young men who clearly could put any service staff to shame. They were incredible. Restaurant was small but has a nice outdoor seating area to accommodate more people. Staff was friendly and patient. Restaurant has a laid back kind of vibe. Simple decor but still pleasant looking. My family got our orders in, and food came out after 20mins of wait. The wait was for it. We had the empanadas, tropical grilled shrimp, ropa vieja, and grilled pargo. The empanadas were served piping hot. They were cooked beautifully. Beef filling was perfect. I love the papaya habanero salsa because of the spiciness. The tropical grilled shrimp was cooked well. The shrimps were seasoned well, and the rice was yummy. Grilled pargo (red snapper) was delicious too. The sauce was great, and the fish was cooked perfectly. Pretty good option for food in Brenham at this Latin American restaurant. I believe they are Cuban-owned (judging by the decorations/photographs inside) but they serve a variety of dishes from multiple Latin American countries. *GET THE CREAMY CHICKEN POBLANO SOUP. It was the best thing we ate here and honestly stole the show. They have a pretty large menu of options which I appreciated. The food was a bit hit or miss for me. As I already mentioned, the chicken poblano soup is fantastic. The tequenos were just fine -- I've had better. My other half is Venezuelan so we usually get them at Venezuelan restaurants. The Amazonian salad was pretty good but some of the leaves were a bit stale. We wanted to try the Albondigas but unfortunately they weren't available (we were told that one of the ingredients was out of stock). Went with the Patagonia Shrimp Pasta instead. It was... just pasta with shrimp. Nothing special and didn't feel worth $26. The atmosphere was pleasant here. The service was friendly and we were able to bring our toddler's stroller and park it at the table inside (we did have to push it up a large step since the restaurant is not actually stroller/wheelchair accessible). Wow, this was such a fantastic dinner! I wish I was back there now. First off, the weather was fantastic. When are their blue skies and in the upper 70's in the spring? Ok, for maybe two days and we hit it. As a result, we sat outside and had a wonderful time. Started off with a wine cocktail. They only a beer & wine license so I went with the flow. It was kind of tasty in an old school Wine Cooler kind of way. Later I had the Mimosa flight and wished I had started there. Again, brought me back to the Bartles & James period of my life (if you don't know what that is - it was a fad in the last century and shows how old I am). We opened things with the Empanadas Cubanas. They were perfectly cooked & flavored. The only mistake was on my side when I added the habanero salsa to it. Avoid the orange one unless you like things nuclear hot. I only enjoy things up to the temperature of the surface of the sun. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was extremely good. A pleasant surprise and enjoyed the entire thing. It came with a couple of perfectly grilled shrimp and rice. Definitely recommend this. My dinner partner had the Polo Encebollado and the sauce on that was absolutely spectacular. I think I would have lost some fingers if I tried more than the scant sample I started with. We stopped here on the way from Houston to Pedernales National Park. This place has a lovely atmosphere. The interior is modern and the tables are beautifully decorated. The woman helping us was incredibly friendly and just as helpful. The food itself was simply delicious. Every single dish we ordered was well made and beautifully served. One thing to note is that as a vegetarian I was mostly limited to salads, but let me tell you the Amazonian Salad did not disappoint and I left feeling fully satisfied. I was super excited to eat here for Mother's Day however the food was not as expected. The riblets were super fatty and lacked flavor. The migas also lacked flavor especially this being a Mexican restaurant. Lastly, I ordered french toast and it came with chocolate on it ( that was not stated on the menu). Super frustrating considering I do not like chocolate. Overall this place is good for a fruity mimosa, but not up to par for good flavorful food. My wife and I ate here during an overnight trip to Brenham and we really loved it. The absolute best part were the Ahi Nachos. These things were incredible. I normally don't like avacado with seafood. Mostly because it's just lazy and overused these days, but I can't say that about Las Americas. This might have been the best appetizer I've had. Tuna was expertly prepared and was served up like a sledgehammer of umami on a chip. The pepper sauce cut the fat of the avocado just enough to allow it to carry that tuna flavor across your tongue while the tuna took a victory lap across your pallet. The staff were friendly and efficient, as well. More importantly, the fact that we even noticed how good they were while in the midst of taste nirvana should be indicative of their quality. I just recently moved to Brenham and was pleasantly surprised to find a Latin American restaurant so I had to try it. Glad I did. While I was there a good flow of customers entered which is a very good sign. I had the Onioned Steak and it was very good so I will defiantly return. The service was great, informative and well versed in the menu items. She was not aware that I already knew most of the dishes and was testing her. My one and only complaint is there is a country left off the cuisine, Belize! Selection of any number of traditional Belizean foods would fit very nicely on this menu. That's really the only reason it did not make it to 5 Star. With luck maybe an option will be added in the future then I'd be in heaven...You Better Belize It! read more

OMG! Came here for lunch on Thursday (yesterday) at 12:30. We had a 2pm appointment to look at a property with our realtor. It wasn't super crowded but my first clue that this was gong to be a bad experience was that no one in the place had any food in front of them. Our server brought my husbands tea after about a 10 minute wait. We ordered fish tacos. And we waited. And waited. And waited. Food arrives at 1:25. Tacos are dry, lukewarm and tasteless. We've eaten here 2 other times. Service is usually a bit slow it never this bad. We mentioned our disappointment to a waiter (not ours because she made herself scarce) and they took 30% off the tab. He said they had new people in the kitchen and the owner had been called. Tip for the owner: when you have new people YOU SHOULD BE AT YOUR RESTAURANT! We won't go back. Several other tables left before receiving the food. Place has some serious issues. And get a load of the response from the business owner below lol! read more
