I was excited to try this place based on the reviews, but was somewhat disappointed. The decor is very chic, urban hipster. The menu is small and looked delicious. I got the homemade tomato/basil soup, which was full of fresh herbs and very tasty - and the fried mushrooms. They were well seasoned, with herbs in the breading and not greasy, but felt heavy and were only saved by the awesome chipotle ranch they came with. My friend got the black garlic burger. It was cooked well, but the black garlic sauce was sweet and not very good - which she fixed by adding the chipotle ranch. The sweet potato fries were heavy and bland and we didn't eat them. Service was lackluster. I suppose it's above expectations for a small Illinois town, but I wouldn't choose to go back. read more

This was a fantastic find as we traveled through the area on I-57. The decor is quaint and servers engaging, knowledgeable and so friendly. Great wine, craft beers, and the food! Stuffed portabello mushroom is to die for. As is the black garlic burger and anything with chicken. Chicken Caesar salad amazing and small was just perfect for one person. Well...the Seasoning Bistro was excellent in Benton, IL. Right on a corner in the town square...great little location to watch life going on while you grab a bite...and the food and service were superb. Everything is done in house...the soup had so many layers of flavor with each spoonful (tomato basil). I went with the lunch special and again, so much nuanced flavors. Desserts are done in house by their pastry chef. DELICIOUS! Very reasonable prices as well. Definitely worth a trip into town if you are passing by on rt 57 in Illinois, don't pass this one by....I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. read more

The service was good and the food was wonderful, one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I had the Jerusalem chicken & highly recommend it. We plan a return visit soon. For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Carcioffi. It is breaded chicken topped with mushrooms, artichoke, white wine, lemon and butter. My husband and I ate here today. I have to say we were nothing less than impressed! I am vegetarian and it is hard to find options when we are visiting this area. I got the sweet potato street tacos, and my husband got a steak. My food was amazing. My husband said it was the best steak he has ever had. Very surprised to find this place while visiting Rend Lake. Food was outstanding. Nice quaint location on Benton IL. We had the portobello mushroom for starter. I had the chicken Marsala which was very tasty with a Cabernet. Tomato basil soup was homemade and grilled asparagus were great. read more

Started with the Portobello Mushroom appetizer (ask for a roll for the sauce). It was so delicious. I split the spinach salad with a friend and it too was yummy. Split the black garlic burger which was perfectly cooked and very good. Went on to split the crème brûlée which was homemade and finished table-side. The food was fantastic but our server Brandtlee was such a expert in customer service and made sure our experience was phenomenal. Don't miss this place. read more

I've been here 2ce now & I'm making plans to go back. The first time I got the French dip, it was a generous sized sandwich. Yesterday I got the taco salad which was the special of the day & absolutely delicious! I would recommend getting the specials! I also ordered dessert: Creme Brûlée & it was awesome!!!! My only complaint was the menus don't fit the atmosphere, they have descriptions of food mixed up & as a graphic designer I'd love to offer my services to give them menus with a little more class this restraunt deserves ;) the food was 5* & wonderful! I don't even know how to begin. I'm speechless! We are camping at Whittington Woods and I was dying for a good steak. Naturally I checked Yelp. The reviews looked too good to be true. We had driven through downtown Benton and it was pretty empty. There is a round - a - bout and on each leg is an "Antique Mall" so I wasn't expecting much. Then there's Seasons Bistro. we both ordered the ribeye steaks, bread (a must) soup and the portobello mushroom appetizer. One smell of the German Cabbage soup and I was instantly transported back to my Grandmother's kitchen. It was awesome. The bread is homemade and warm served with a savory roasted garlic butter and a sweet butter. I could have stopped right there but of course I didn't. The portobello mushroom was stuffed with Italian sausage, and a blend of cheeses broiled to yummy melted goodness. Our steaks were done to perfection topped with what I had always known (a lifetime ago) as M'tradie butter. It made the steak! Baked potato with rock salt and steamed broccoli completed the meal. I just couldn't pass up the Creme Brule and it didn't disappoint! The sugar was bruleed table side. Who does that anymore!!?? Incredible! It was , hands down, the BEST creme Brule I've ever had! Our total bill was $ 94 minus tip. Well worth it! If you are in the area, do not pass up a chance to dine here. Call for reservations because this place is popular! read more

Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Southern Illinois. Extremely lucky to have a place like this around here. Their food is amazing, from their fried buffalo blue cheese cauliflower appetizer to their 10 ounce filet's and their incredible drink specials on the weekends. I absolutely love the Italian beef offered at lunch. When I used to work nearby, I would order it frequently. I've also had several good pasta dishes and the homemade focaccia bread is delicious! For our entrees my wife had the filet special and I had the shrimp scampi. The filet was excellent. Well cooked and an excellent cut of meat. The scampi was good, large shrimp and well cooked pasta just a little heavy on the lemon. The chocolate gluten free cake was delicious. We visited on a Friday night. The place was full and people were waiting to get in. The down stairs dining area is small but there is additional seating up stairs. The stairs are quit steep and would present a problem for people with physical limitations. The staff was friendly and attentive. The meals were reasonably priced and the portion size was good. The food was somewhat disappointing. The French onion soup tasted like the broth was made with bullion cubes and then salt was added to it. I had the salmon with fresh vegetables. The fish was cooked nicely but was not very warm when served and again was very salty. The other entree was spinach and artichoke pasta with marinara sauce. The sauce looked like it was made in house but it did little to enhance the rather plain pasta, which was salty. It may just be me, but I don't usually have a problem with my food being too salty. I do think that Seasonings is worth one more try. Just on the chance that they had a bad night. Oh and don't order the lemon aide unless you like drink mix. read more
