Easter Sunday French Toast
Carlos P.

Came today for Easter Sunday brunch with a friend. Place is reasonably well kept after being around for more than a decade (someone should dust off the wood trusses and track lights - this is not just Gables, but Miracle Mike after all). I had the Shrimps & Grits, and he had the French Toast, both off the Special Easter Brunch menu only for today. Service was great, but my friend seems to be well known there, albeit our server didn't know him and still provided excellent service. The Shrimp and Grits were good, but on the light side - won't satisfy a big guy with an appetite (you'd need at least two servings) - I think they really skimped on the grits, which doesn't cost much - there should have definitely been 3 times the amount as it was only really a few spoonfuls. The shrimp was definitely bountiful although they were stark white in color vs pink, and a bit hard/overcooked - I presume overcooked was reason for the color. They were also oddly skinny longer shrimps. I'd rate this dish at a solid 4 out of 5, but needs more grits. The French Toast, came with bacon, which my friend asked for on the side (for me to eat LOL) as he's vegetarian. Bacon was good and crispy. Having said that, the bacon was the best part of that dish. I'd generously give it a 3 out of 5. While my friend loved it, I found it doughy and dry and not up par for the restaurant; And the flavors were neither typical of a French toast nor provided the kind of: 'this is different, but I like it' outcome - I would definitely skip this dish. I think it was made with challah bread. And that was that; I think most people are familiar with the place; ambiance is OK, and while place is perfectly fine, having been there when it opened 12-15 years ago, it seems like a bit of a time warp to back when.

I don't often have 1 star reviews, but the food and experience was quite dismal. The beet salad was okay, but the soup, espresso martini, and entree were just not good. The dessert tasted store bought. The prices were very reasonable, but it seems the quality must have suffered to offer these price points. In the past, I have had excellent service and food at this location. I am not sure if they were perhaps having a bad night? I believe we were the only people in the dining room though so it was very dark and lonely.

Spectacular, give me 10 of them right now ! What an amazing little place. We were in the area and decided to go for a home cooked meal and this place did NOT disappoint! The service was amazing ! The food was spectacular & seasonal. The ambiance was super mellow, moody and chill which is exactly what I expected and wanted. Wasn't too expensive surprisingly affordable ! Would definitely come back here ! I hope they remain open for years to come.

Came here to celebrate my father's birthday with 14 people and the staff was super nice to us. Our server was always checking on us without being overbearing. The food was delicious and the best of it all, everything was under 600 calories! Overall, the lighting, the contemporary atmosphere in this place made this lunch fun.

I really enjoyed the rotisserie chicken at Seasons 52. It had a subtly sweet glaze that complemented the chicken perfectly without being overpowering. I wasn't a big fan of the wild rice personally, though the rest of the table seemed to enjoy it. We came as a group of 12, including some kids, and despite the lively atmosphere, the staff remained kind and helpful throughout.

Love Seasons 52! Their lunch menu offers great deal. I like the Naked cheeseburger that comes with a salad. They also have yummy flatbreads. Love that their dessert cakes come in these small little cups perfect to round up a meal. I had the key lime one and it was delicious. Service was very attentive too!

Went on a Saturday lunch to Seasons 52 and had the Miami Spice menu for $28. Absolutely worth it. Tried the corn soup (amazing) and the shrimp and grits (delicious) and the small desert. Portion was big and service was great. With valet parking nearby it's a must to visit!

Even our dog enjoyed it!

Halibut and filet mignon were excellent. Superb flavors and prepared well. Shout out to Aden, our server. He was friendly, professional and awesome overall. I recommend you ask for him.

Went to dinner with a group. Service was very good, very attentive to our needs. But, if you go with anyone who has food restrictions, make sure your service knows who that person is. We had chicken and pesto flatbread and mushroom flatbread. Truthfully, they fill you up! My entree was the filet mignon - looks surprisingly small, but it was just right. Cooked just right. The mini desserts were enjoyed by all. I highly recommend their espresso martini - it's delicious and everyone else wanted one, too!

52 season is defenitly worth trying. Our place feels welcoming amd our server friendly and attentive The steak I had was nothing short of exceptional, rich flavor, and satisfiying. To complement this culinary delight, the wine flight was perfectly curated for anyone who enjoys a tasting experience, enhancing the overall meal. Additionally, the stuffed mushrooms are a great appetizer--deliciously crafted. Could have gone for a second round.Great place for anyone looking to indulge in great food and wine!

Wonderful food especially the crab quiche and French toast. Guillermo is a great waiter.

My cousin had a layover at Miami airport and offered to buy us dinner if we came down to meet him. Our significant others chose Seasons 52. My wife and i had dined at another location and enjoyed our meals. My Sonoma Maui salad was perfectly prepared the tuna had a nice sear around the edges. I also started with their corn chowder which is rich and creamy with a sprinkling of bacon bits. The dining room faces the open kitchen and you can see your meals being prepared. The room has very impressive ceiling with massive beams giving it a clubhouse feel. A good time was had by all.

Instead, we were sat at the smallest bar seating, which was completely inappropriate and not romantic at all for an occasion like Valentine's Day. As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience.

The first location in the River is better imo because the location is bigger, there is plenty more seating than the Grove location. Although, I still enjoyed my time at this location as well. Sooo how it works is that you go inside and pick a bottle of wine from the fridges. You can also order by the glass if you aren't a big drinker or if you want to try different wines. The bottles are moderately priced depending on your selection. We chose an orange wine and it was nice, very refreshing, you can really get that citrus essence with every sip. Another thing that they have is that you can pick different cheeses and meats and they will build you a charcuterie board. I love this because it is all based on your selection, nothing will go to waste. They also have food you can order. A lot of people love the nuggets with caviar. I think they are decent imo but I'm not like in love with them. Parking can be a bit annoying... If there isn't street parking, you can also park in the garage. The service was good, the staff was friendly. The only thing that was a hassle was getting a table. We had to wait a bit in order for a table to become available. Overall, this spot is a very cozy place to hang and mingle with friends.

As others have stated, Magie is good in concept and we'll likely return here, but with just a bit…read moremore effort on their part this wine bar could be so much better IMO. Unlike some other reviewers that scoffed at the prices of the wine, that didn't bother me so much. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.

We chose a Spanish Urbión Rioja reserva wine and it was quite delectable. We also ordered 2 Coke zeros. For our starters, we selected: * 2 Chips de Berenjena. Eggplant chips, flash fried and drizzled with honey. These are the best!!! So delicious, we ordered 2 servings and everyone in the restaurant was ordering them. * Fried Calamari with a very tasty aioli sauce. * Gulas de Ajillo Baby eels cooked in garlic sauce and olive oil - delicious. The rice was excellent, absolutely luscious. * Pulpo a la Gallega. Boiled octopus and boiled potatoes drizzled with paprika and olive oil. For our Mains we ordered the * Filet Mignon with blue cheese sauce and boiled potatoes. This dish was just OK. The potatoes weren't seasoned, only boiled. The steak had no char and was overdone for a filet. My Husband also ordered * Patatas a la Giralda - their twist on patatas bravas with two homemade signature sauces. These were crispy, and delicous. Served underneath the 2 sauces. * I ordered Grilled Chicken with salad. I was taken aback by the server for food shaming me to order something pricier, not just basic chicken. That's not cool. I also got a side of * Patatas - fried steak fries, very crunchy paired well with our food. For dessert we had * Crema Catalana, which is a Spanish syle Crème brûlée. This dessert has probably been the smallest dessert I've ever ordered. Not to mention, the consistency, the taste and color was all wrong. It was as if you had a Jello vanilla pudding with a miniscule amount of hardened caramelized sugar. Definitely not getting this desert again. I'd like to try the Tarta de Santiago next time. Once our food arrived the Flamenco show began and it was glorious!! The lead male vocalist was phenomenal! His vocal range and guitar skills were admirable. The show began with singing first and then the dancer started. She was a personable, very talented dancer and performer. At one point she locked eyes with me and before I knew it I was up there dancing with her, which was so much fun! I really enjoyed this restaurant and recommend it to open minded people who enjoy food from Spain.

We've come here a few times, our dog was welcome, staff were friendly and outgoing, offering us various tabletop games like tic-tac-toe to pass the time, and once we'd both ordered a few glasses of wine, they offered us complimentary popcorn - something they normally charge for. Wines on their "by the glass" menu average about $16 each, and most staff pour them behind the bar where they have a gauge to measure out each one. The food prep area behind the bar is quite small (which is why they don't have a large menu), but so is this little gem of a wine spot in general. It's cozy, eclectic and great for a glass of wine and a small snack, or a nightcap after having dinner elsewhere. It's good for singles at the bar, or an intimate spot for couples and smaller groups.
