We ate here our first night in Amsterdam. Let me preface this review by noting that before departing JFK in New York we sat on the tarmac in winter's last hoorah for four hours, making our 7ish hour flight more of a 12 hour experience. Because we only had 3 days in Amsterdam, we lost the time we were hoping to sleep and simply check into the hotel and set off wandering the city, running on pure adrenaline. By the time we got to dinner at Seasons (a recommendation from my mom who visited a year prior) we were fading fast. That said, my memory of this place is hazy but I do know we thought the food was fantastic, and moreover, that the service was excellent. The restaurant is run by two ladies who handled the full house with ease. The 3-course pre fixe menu was moderately priced and portions were generous. Seasons set the bar for yummy meals in Amsterdam pretty high, even if we were falling into our desserts out of sheer exhaustion (at least they were good desserts!). read more

Our evening at Seasons featured extremely friendly staff, an equally friendly pup, and a menu that was seasonal indeed with large (almost too large-- my neighbor ordered the stuffed quail and was served 3 whole birds on his plate! 3 birds!) portions of interesting and rib-sticking fare. The flavors and preparations were creative, if not quite refined (the pumpkin and coconut soup I had in particular was innovative, but a bit heavy on the rice which made it feel more like a porridge than a stew). My wiener schnitzel was slightly less memorable, but the lentils and spinach that came alongside were excellent. It all came served with a full cone of fries, which was really just more than I could eat, even after walking around all day (and I'm a good eater!). So, as a family we were in Amsterdam for four days and tried many places for dinner. This was not recommended by my hotel but we were walking by the place. It was quiet and only a couple people were having dinner---- but the employee brought out a corn soup which was the best food item in Amsterdam! We all voted on the spot to have dinner. What a dinner it was.... the price fix meal is not for inexpensive; the quality and attentiveness to detail make it a fine value. The appetizer of the soup was first rate and should be commended. The shrimp dish was also fine. The main courses were all of high value and finish completely; the rack of lamb should be highlighted as for a price fix meal I was surprised by the quality and quantity. Desert was isnt own course--- one cant go home any less than stuffed with the waffle and ice cream course or the selection of pastries. Went here for the holiday set menu featuring some of the favourites of the customers. The food was quite good and the environment cosy and tasteful. For the entire I had the miso salmon on rice. It's pretty much a stock dish for an Asian fusion place but this was well executed. Ahead of that, I had the seafood and corn soup was was more corn than seafood. Tasty but you won't get much seafood flavour. The meal finished with a nice ditch apple pie which was pretty well executed. All considered it was a good dining experience. If it's possible, Seasons just keeps getting better! The prix fixe menu is always a good deal, and their desserts always cap off the excellent meal perfectly. My miso salmon was so soft and tender. Hubby's steak was on par with Max's, if not a bit more substantial and better quality. To be fair, he enjoyed both. I thought the Dutch apple pie (tart) was awesome, and his creme brulee was just okay. On this trip, we were able to sit outdoors and it was just the most pleasant experience to be there while the sun was setting around 10:00 pm! read more

Seasons was so delicious, my wife and I came here twice on our trip to Amsterdam. The first time we came here we started off with scallops 3-ways - absolutely delicious! Scallops were cooked perfectly, and all 3 ways were divine (grilled with garlic butter, grilled with pesto and pistachio-crusted). I ordered the ribeye, it was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the honey-miso salmon, it was beautifully presented and equally tasty. We came back two nights later for their "early bird" special. You may now know this but they offer buy one get one entree FREE if you come before rush hour or regular dinner hours. The early bird special only available for online reservations via their website and for the times listed below: Fri., Sat., & Sun. 16:00 - 18:00 Mon. - Thurs. 17:00 - 18:00 The second time we came we ordered the grilled shrimp avocado salad which was also very delicious. The only thing I'll mention is service is slow here, but that is definitely a Dutch thing. We still enjoyed our experience greatly, so it was no issue. read more

Let me start off my saying, I was initially going to give it 4 stars but the food was just so darn good it totally outweighs any teeny tiny complaints I may have. We ate here on New Years Eve for dinner on our recent trip to Amsterdam. We didn't really know what to expect as we just read some reviews online, but Blaine was so friendly over email and was able to get us a reservation just a few weeks before we arrived. Upon arrival I thought the decor and ambiance were lacking a little - not bad, but could use a little more ambience. The service was slow at first but I know they were busy switching over from the first dinner crowd. The waitress forgot things here and there but it didn't really affect our experience. Most importantly, the food was AMAZING! The portions were more than generous and I thought the value was great. I started with Scallops Three Ways - PHENOMENAL. They were cooked perfectly and I loved tasting the different flavors. Second was Chestnut Soup with Scallops - I cleaned my bowl it was so good. Then the Salmon with Mushrooms, and finally a wonderful little dessert plate (which was a surprise) with Creme Brûlée, chocolate mousse, among a few other yummy treats. My hubby had the lamb entree - it was ENORMOUS and so delicious. I would order that next time! We had an excellent experience overall and would definitely recommend this place! On July 2 my wife and I went to Seasons. What a wonderful little restaurant in Amsterdam - how did we find this one. I had the Rack of Lamb and my wife had the Salmon. The lamb was so tender I would put it against any of best steaks that I have eaten in my long life. The Salmon was cooked to perfection as they addressed my wife's food allergies. The dessert was an apple crumb - really don't know how to describe it but none was let on either plate. I had the wild boar sausage with mashed potatoes and onions as an entree and the risotto with cheese and mushrooms. Service a was little slow but the food made up for it. Filling, savory and full of flavor. Wild boar didn't taste much different from other meats I've tried. I usually don't like risotto but they ran out of the venison puffs. Surprisingly the risotto turned out really well. The onions and the mashed potatoes complimented each other very well. Overall, I would say they need more servers. read more

Seasons restaurant is down a small street with a few other small restaurants and shops. Look closely for the small oval sign hanging over the front door. Highly recommend the scallops three ways and use the bread to sop up the delicious sauces- garlic, pistachio and pesto. Also recommend the salmon with glaze and mango coleslaw. Save room for the rich and flavorful salted caramel pudding. Wines by the glass and house wines tasty and decently priced. They have several tables for 2 to 4 people outside on the sidewalk which I recommend over the warmer interior especially this past month of hot weather in Northern Europe. Service was 5 out of 5 by a very friendly and competent waitress who knew and could describe all the dishes. Will definitely return with my business colleagues and friends on my next business trip. read more

Found this place a couple hours before dinner time on Yelp. I only wish the place were closer to our house! There were so many delicious sounding choices, my sweet onion tart was to die for. We chose this spectacular restaurant from a quick Yelp search, and I am so glad we did! The atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday afternoon in the city. It was laid back and peaceful, on a little side street, away from the hustle and bustle of a typical metropolitan spot, while still close enough to walk to the train station and busier downtown areas. The inside is beautifully decorated - I loved everything down to the water glasses. Our waiter was charming and helpful, and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. The food... Oh the food. Everything we ordered was out of this world! The steak panini was by far the best sandwich I have ever had in my life. No exaggeration. The salad was perfect... The Fire Shrimp and the Duck sandwich... just, everything was so delicious. I can't say enough about this restaurant. We had the best weekend in Holland, and this was the highlight. As an American living in The Netherlands, my partner and I are always looking for different restaurants for our weekly Friday night "date night". We decided on Seasons after a long "yelp-fueled" debate. We arrived at 5:45 and took advantage of the early bird 3 course, 2 for 1 dinner. I had the Duck and Clementine Salad. The duck was cooked perfectly. The salad was warm with just the right balance of citrus (from the oranges and pomegranate) and salt from the duck and walnuts. My partner has the Scallops, which were cooked so perfectly - I felt like I was watching a successful service on Hell's Kitchen. For my entrée, I had the Lamb Shank with lentils and horseradish mashed potatoes. The lamb was cooked medium rare and fell off the bone. It was moist, tender, and balanced so well with the lentils and mash, I felt like I could melt into my plate. My partner had the Braised Rabbit, which again was cooked perfectly. If you don't mind the bones, this dish is excellent. By this time in the meal, we debated on dessert, but against our stomach's better judgement we decided on the crème brulee and the berry and lemon curd bread pudding. Needless to say, not a much remained of those either. If there were bones to be licked, they would have been picked dry. The service was amazing. Our server was warm and helpful with wine choices. You couldn't ask for a better dining experience in the heart of Amsterdam. My suggest is book now and book often. read more

Excellent! We took advantage of the internet early bird special a week ago on Saturday. This special lets you get 2 2-course meals for the price of one. With a party of six, this was a big savings. The food was superb, and our Amsterdam friends in the party said they would definitely return. The dishes are an eclectic mix of flavors and fresh foods, everything we sampled was delicious and cooked to perfection. We are big fish fans, and the fish was not overdone and delicious. Sauces were also mouth watering. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was nice and quiet this early in the evening, so great for a romantic dinner before a night on the town. The roasted tomatoes on the rucola & mozzarella salad are warm and sweet, and so are the strawberries on the spinach, feta & avocado salad. One word of caution: if you want just tap water you will have to specifically state it (tap, we just asked for regular). Otherwise, they bring water in the bottle and charge you 5 euros (!!!). The food was yummy. I had the zucchini /courgette blossoms. Friend had "Fish of the day", which was dutch shrimp, and another friend had the salmon. The food and price was ok, but our waiter had a lot of attitude. He described the soup of the day and the "fish of the day" when we sat down and let us decide. My friend said he was getting the fish of the day. I told him I don't think there's fish, my friend says "I think he said it was on top." So when our waiter comes by, we ask him what was on top of the fish of the day. His words exactly "I told you already, it is coral." First, it's not CORAL on top... we are not parrotfish, we don't eat coral. It was a form of kelp (I looked it up: samphire or glasswort). Secondly, if we ask again (politely), does it hurt to repeat it? To continue, we say "oh sorry, but what type of fish is in the dish?" Waiter "Like I said, shrimp." We all look a little confused... and say jokingly "ohh, hehe, so the fish of the day is ... shrimp." smile. Waiter looks at us like we are idiots. The waiter was completely rude, and when we left, he didn't even come to our table to give the bill and get our jackets, or to ask if we liked the food. Another waiter came. I thought our waiter was busy, but no, he was standing next to our table, by the wine bar, pretending like he didn't see us... just standing there. I would like to add, I've been living in this country for 2+ years, I'm used to "dutch" service, so this is not a cultural thing. Also, my friend is a true dutch man and he also thought our waiter was rude (and claimed our waiter is not dutch). We were in good spirits coming in, that douche really put a damper. But not enough to ruin our night. No one has the power to do that except ourselves :) Would have been 4 stars if it weren't for that douche :) read more

Great service and wonderful French food! The wine selections were excellent (and so much less expensive than in the US!). We made reservations, but found they weren't needed at the time of year we visited and middle of the week - I imagine they are needed during the main tourist season and on weekends. My husband had the Pea Soup starter and said it had a great smokey flavor. My Scallops 3-ways was perfect. For dinner we both had the cassoulet - all I can say is mmmmmmmmmm! You can order ala carte, but Seasons also offers a 2-course and 3-course prix fixe option that is worth taking advantage of. read more
