Matt is one super solid repair dude. He's an inventor, a tinkerer, and you can tell that he's really interested in the workings of devices. I've had the screen on my iphone 5s replaced twice. The first time was at one of those multiple location gadget name shops -- and within a short amount of time, when I dropped the phone again, it shattered. I found Seattle Device Repair, noticed the good reviews and competitive price, and stopped by. Matt immediately identified the shoddy workmanship and explained that the type of screen these other places use is a super-cheap knock-off. He used to work at another shop, and then decided he could do better and developed his own twist on the iPhone screen that is stronger AND it actually repels fingerprints and scratches BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL SCREEN. I've been carrying, dropping, putting it in the same pocket with keys, and it's still awesome. Much later, when the home button began failing, because it tends to wear out after a few years (going on year 4...), I swung by SDR. Matt first tried to clean the button so that it wouldn't need to be swapped out, but when that didn't work, he just swapped it out right there and didn't charge. Just said it was part of the service. Went in for a screen repair for an iPhone 6 and an iPad. We called ahead first on a Friday (day after Turkey Day) and they stayed open until 8pm. Per I spoke to was great. Gave a verbal estimate and an estimate on how long it would take. We came in that evening, dropped it off and 90 minutes later we were back on the road. As good as it gets! 1 hour. I literally had my iPhone 6 cover off for 1 hour (due to the cover cracking) before getting my new cover. What happens? Obviously... I drop my phone and shatter the glass screen. I happen to work and live near Seattle Device Repair so I called them the day of. I came back to visit Matt because there was something wrong with my iPhone 6's microphone. After a quick diagnostic test, Matt discovered that the issue was due to a replacement part that he had installed a couple weeks prior. So glad I decided to go with this place! I originally picked it because of the Yelp coupon deal, and because it had a courier service who would come and get my phone from my office and return it after fixed (as I was on a deadline and couldn't leave the office the day I wanted to get I fixed!). Well, the courier came but it happened right when the Seattle power outage downtown occurred so it ended up cancelling - however I still give it 5 stars as it was going well until the power outage part. Anyways, was able to bring my phone in personally a couple of days later. He was able to fix my broken screen on my iPhone in 40 minutes. He had the cheapest quote in the Seattle downtown area, and he was efficient, professional and my screen is working great! I am a techie and own an iPhone. I pretty much determined that my lightning connector was bad after cleaning it several times and still having it only occasionally charge. I went into Seattle Device Repair for a new connector. Matt, before doing the requested repair, used his tool and got more lint out of the lightning connector. Bam, problem solved. And no charge. My wife and I went here to have our phones' batteries replaced. Hers was in fact replaced, turns out mine was not, or was replaced with what turned out to be a defective battery. Left town very shortly thereafter for an extended period, and my battery went totally dead - - so dead and deformed that the Apple Store gave me a new phone for the price of a new battery. Took in my 4 year old iPhone 5s for battery replacement and was pleasantly surprised to be out the door in 10 minutes. Not only that, but Matt put on a new screen protector (yelp check in deal) on my other phone at no additional charge. Incredible service from a very pleasant fellow. It was obvious Matt had done this same fix many times before but to do so cheerfully and go above and beyond expectations deserves 5 stars plus! 3/26/2018 update: Took my one year old iPhone 7 in as lightning connector clogged with lint I couldn't get out making it hard to charge. In about 30 seconds Matt got lint out with small forceps and compressed air and voila - problem solved. He also gave me tip to aim forceps up toward start button to avoid damaging connectors on bottom. Best of all, he refused payment and gave me a new screen protector as I checked in on Yelp again. I dropped my phone in the lake, but luckily only the microphone was broken. Called Apple Store, was told that replacing the microphone costs 299. Seattle Device Repair charged only 40 for replacing the microphone. Before they opened up the phone, they were also super honest and told me the possibility that the phone might be compromised and might not be worth it to even replace the microphone. Luckily that was not the case when they opened up my phone and checked (for free too). The staff was nice and very good at what he was doing. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. I set my appointment on a Thursday, when they were closed. I contacted Matt that day and he responded about a schedule/could this be fixed sort of thing. Even during non-business hours he got back to me! He's serious about his operation, as any aspiring entrepreneur has to be. I showed up just before 10 AM for my appointment, and as I write this it's 10:30 and I'm at home with my repaired phone. AND I walked there and back (it's only half a mile away from where I live). To give you backstory on what happened, I dropped my phone on an elevator door frame. It landed on the corner, and the screen broke. And the screen went black. The noises still worked. Matt replaced the digitizer, the LCD, and the screen. Thanks to Matt, I didn't have to go 24 hours without feeling like I lost a limb.
