I like this place, but to be honest, it's not a spot I'd imagine anyone else outside of town would want to visit. For its size, it has quite a good selection of everything it sells. Good selection of bread, good selection of chips, not a bad selection of produce, considering it's only half an aisle. They do have spices for a ridiculously low price, though. There's a giant variety of them, so the one you want may not always be in stock, but I can get a 6 oz container of cayenne pepper powder for $5, which I find way cheaper than the big name grocery stores. Prices are similar to what you would see from gas station convenient stores (i.e. not cheap). Staff seem pretty friendly. If you live 5 miles east or west of here, though, you'll find a larger selection for cheaper cost at the big name grocery stores (other than the spices, that is). read more

Love this place for sandwiches (a very close second to Seaview Deli). Meats here and even fish are always fresh and delicious. I live nearby and am in the Mini Super every day- year round. The meat and produce is top notch. It's an old fashioned store, so you can buy one pork chop of your choice, a single potato and single potion of fresh veggies. They stock almost everything you could possibly want or need into that small store. Their bakery case is beautiful. The prices are usually comparable to any of the big, chain grocery stores. The staff is always friendly, polite and helpful. The only negative experiences I have ever had have been waiting behind rude, entitled customers or even having them step up and place their order ahead of me when I was next in line. What an amazing store that has become a staple of life in Charlestown and Green Hill area South Kingstown plus all of the other smart folks that have found this great store. They carry an amazing variety perfectly fresh fish, great deli meats and cheese as well as fabulous meats and veggies and fruit . I seldom bother with the big stores like Shaws or Stop & Shop as they have just about everything I ever need. The best romaine lettuce around! Fabulous fresh bakery with beautiful and tasty cakes, pies and other baked treats. And their meats - great variety and custom cuts as needed. Plus every Tuesday they make wonderful chicken sausage - what a great base for dinner - chicken sausage with broccoli rabe and Feta. And they have make so many necessities and such a great variety of products in the fairly store you will be amazed. Plus you can shop quick and get all you need their prices are excellent!!! All of the staff is so helpful especially the meat counter and checkout area. Close by and convenient, we are so blessed to have this great store and team. I just had the worst experience of my life. The girl behind the counter called me a liar then she called me disgusting. What happened to customer service? She stated that obviously I'm not a regular, which is so far from me he truth!! I go there EVERY DAY! I tried calling and the phone was put down and I heard them talking about me. I called back and asked for manager and I heard woman say "I think its that girl with no shoes". I heard other girl say let me take it. I hung up. Just found out Charlie passed, so sad. Don't let the exterior of this roadside convenience market fool you... Sure, they could use a little face lift and a little love on the inside but we are not there to take family photos right? The meat section looked amazing as did the bakery! We needed a few things to complete our recipe and stopped by quickly. When you are in this area...this is pretty much it for a neighborhood grocery store. Other than the narrow aisles and limited variety of products, it is a great store. The customer service at the deli/meat/fish counter and the cash registers was above average = eye contact, smiling and asking if they can assist. Two registers, so the check out time is not long. They accept credit cards. Competitive prices, I didn't feel the "rural gouge" that I do in other places. Quality of the fresh items: FRESH The Potato Salad and pasta = Delicious with no strange flavors. Not too creamy or too water. Just perfect Several varieties of big brand cheeses available - Cabot, Cracker Barrel etc. I didn't see any local brands, but they might have been kept separate. The baked goods looked great and the strawberry rhubarb pie looked commercially made, but tasted homemade. We stopped to pick up a few items for an afternoon BBQ and left with EVERYTHING we needed and more! This is definitely a go-to place for us in the future. read more

This was my go to place for meats even though there are less expensive alternatives. Today was likely my last visit. I went to purchase my meats and bakery items using a gift card I received last year. The ignorant red headed girl at the front cash register informed me "we don't take those anymore we don't have the machine" I informed her there was $50 on the card to which she exclaimed "that's not my problem, I have no way of verifying that, you cold be lying" I told her it was her problem as the store has my money and it's not my problem they no longer accept this gift card. She then whipped around and grabbed the new gift card and said "see these are the new gift cards not the one you have". If this Ignorant little brat was nice about it, I probably wouldn't have written this review but she basically made a scene and it was pretty embarrassing. They should be aware of RI General Laws regarding gift cards. If they aren't aware they soon will be as it's not about the $50 it's about how that ignorant red headed brat treated me. read more

I love this place, they always seem to have everything that I need, and they're only about a 5-minute drive from my house. It's definitely usually quite busy on the weekends during the summer and holidays, but that's just how it goes! Can't complain, they're super convenient and we're lucky to have them. The Charlestown Mini Super has a front display cabinet filled with a plethora of sweet and savory croissants, pastries and so much more! The Mini Super is filled with everything a larger grocery store would have, from toilet paper to chips and dip. The back of the Mini Super has a great seafood and deli selection. ...now back to the front of the Mini Super....They have the best breakfast croissants. My favorite is their spinach and feta, while my husband loves their cheese and ham croissant. They take croissant dough, fill it and bake it to perfection. The insides are always hot and tasty and the croissants are always buttery and flaky. Seriously delicious! OMG...you have to try their Boston Cream "mini pie", "pastry"?!? It's available in the a.m.; it's like having dessert for breakfast! The "Omni Parker Hotel" in Boston is "home of the Boston cream pie", and I've had it. The Mini Super's was just as good, if not better, than theirs. TRY IT!! I've been patronizing the Charlestown Mini Super for decades, and love it. I've spent my summers in Charlestown since the early eighties and my family has always loved the convenience of the Charlestown Mini Super. Last, and certainly not least, is the staff. A great small local grocery store. What I really love is at lunch time, they set up make your own sandwich bar as well as other choices. Very good meats & baked goods. Prices are about what you expect for a small place - cheaper than a convenient store, but none of the big sales that the big chains run. Let me start this review by stating that I WAS a loyal 20 year customer of this establishment, and both my wife and youngest daughter have been employed there (that's a whole other story, trust me). I have personally provided 2 decades of monetary support to this local business that CLEARLY overcharges for everyday items. I get it - they are a "convenience" store. Today, I came in for 1 item, like I do several times a week - to support my wife's dinner effort. I have never in my life been more disrespected. The little cashier that wears a Bruins shirt everyday attacked me for apparently "not keeping the required 6 foot distance" between customers. Let it be known (and over the years I've told several people that work at the Mini Super) that I'm a DOD essential employee that is also required to respect and be well aware of the social distancing requirement of 6ft. I was literally ATTACKED by this cashier and the other cashier that RUDELY communicated with me that I "would have been too close" to the other customer. May I point out that the "path" they wanted me to take through the checkout line would have put me within 2 feet of said customer, and I was trying to avoid that. Not only me, but my whole family have experienced terrible customer service by the employees and owners of this establishment over the last 20 years. Not to mention the absolutely terrible management that clearly plays favorites to those who kiss their ass (aka "Bruins shirt girl"). Sadly, after 20 years of giving them my business, that is ending today. And surely this will be communicated to family, friends, and everyone I know that lives locally and patronizes this place. That's NOT how you do business, especially when you're a small business. I realize there are many "out of towners" who are completely rude and disrespectful. But I'm certainly not one of them! I always go out of my way to respect others, especially during this difficult time. Hey, Charlestown Mini Super - Take a moment to realize who your regulars are, and respect them. The Mini Super, while pricey, is convenient so it balances out. The workers at the meat counter are very nice, friendly and always a delight to deal with. However, the same cannot be said about the cashiers. They are always talking amongst themselves and rude. They act like you are unconvincing The for shopping. My experience at the Charlestown Mini-Super was deplorable. I had visited this establishment a few times prior to this episode, without incident. Yesterday, my intent was to purchase some delicious pastry items from the bakery case. The bakery case is located along the designated "check-out" line. There is no way to access this area without "standing in line". A pleasant young lady was waiting on me as I was looking at the various pastries and making my selections. I immediately selected two Bavarian Cream Doughnuts, then proceeded to view the other items. As some items were unspecified, I asked the the young lady to identify them. While I was being waited on, other customers were lining-up behind me [because the bakery case is along side the check-out line and the cordoned-off/designated "line area" necessitates single-file procession]. Since I was still in the process of making my pastry selections [and was not ready to check-out], I kindly and politely informed the other customers that I was "not in line" and directed them to walk behind me to access the cash registers. The customers were appreciative. As I was attempting to finish my selection, one of the cashiers unnecessarily and loudly announced "I'll take the next person in line!". Since I had not finished selecting my pastries [and had been advising the other customers to proceed to the register], I was unaware that the cashier's "declaration" was directed towards me. Apparently, it was. The cashier, then proceeded to inform me that customers checked-out in order of the line. [Note that the cashier was positioned about 10 feet away from me.] I informed her that I was not finished making my selections, yet she insisted that I proceed to the cash register. I raised my voice and loudly remarked [because of the distance between us], "That makes absolutely no sense. I have a Masters Degree in Education and I'm telling you that makes no sense at all!" She replied [paraphrased], "Well, that's how we do it." The cashier then [in a demeaning manner] chastised me and told me not to be so "rude" and "insulting". Seriously?! I was not at all ready to check-out! Was this cashier actually suggesting that the other customers [lining-up behind me due the restricted space] were expected to WAIT while I selected pastries...in order to proceed to the cash register "in order"?! Now...THAT would be rude. As if this unpleasant, embarrassing exchange [in the presence of other patrons] wasn't bad enough, the cashier then instructed the pleasant young lady who was waiting on me [and now totally immobile with that wide-eyed, "deer-in-the-headlights" look] to leave me standing there in front of the bakery case and come to the register to "bag" the other customers purchases! The cashier actually ordered her to walk away from me! At that point, I became absolutely enraged! I yelled at the cashier, "Then you can take your Bavarian Cream Doughnuts..." It took an inordinate measure of self-control to resist completing the rest of that sentence! [You can fill-in the blank.] I promptly exited the Charlestown Mini-Super. What kind of customer service is THAT?! This whole incident occurred within a matter of three minutes. I can only assume that I was taking too long making my pastry selections and disrupting the (un)natural order of the Charlestown Mini-Super's check-out process. Suggestions: If this business-facility wishes to continue its abysmal, ineffective check-out procedure, either re-orient the check-out line [away from the bakery case] or...move the bakery case [so customers may select their pastries in peace...without feeling rushed or pressured]. The cashier should be severely reprimanded [and/or terminated] for her offensive mistreatment of a customer...especially if the altercation described is typical of her attitude and behavior towards customers. read more
