We ordered 2 "smash burgers" last night and when I tell you I could barely fit the sandwich in my mouth, I am not lying. Smash burgers are supposed to be smashed!!!!! Server was good. Server was excellent. Happy hour food not so much. Meat in the Philly egg rolls tasted nasty, cheese sauce on the loaded fries was more like hummus textured than cheese. Gritty. We sent that back and weren't charged. The sliders were average which was not great for $4 apiece. I'm still hungry but don't want my food. I'll take it home. Maybe the kids will like it. Thoroughly entertaining reading the rude responses by the owner on bad reviews as I sit here. I'm ready. But just a bit of advice. Honey rather than vinegar will get you further. I came home smelling like a cigarette ashtray!! The service was the worst I have ever experienced. The service host never acknowledged us, and the service staff was not knowledgeable of the any of the betting machines, and their machines were old, greasy and most of the "hold" would just STICK!! I work nearby and enjoyed Mountainside food previously so I decided to give them a first chance and was a bit disappointed with the food and pricing. Was told by the server that the prime rib sandwich was a piece of prime rib, not shavings. It reminded me of the french dip at Arby's, which I like better. I upgraded to onion rings but they were the heavy breaded type, which isn't my preference. Lastly, lunch ended up costing over $33 for a soda, sandwich, onion rings, and a tip. I know prices have gone up everywhere but I'm not sure how many people could possibly afford to eat lunch anywhere near that cost. A lunch special under $15-$20 would be ideal. read more

This place was so amazing!!! Haven't been in about 10 years and was a bit curious if it was any different but it was great!!! Karen, our server was the antithesis of her name. She informed us immediately that we could get the Thursday night football prices if she puts in our order in the next 10 minutes. Had a great time at Second Chance Tavern! Hayden was our bartender and gave us excellent service all night. We had a couple of drinks, did a little gambling, and really enjoyed the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. The kitchen being open all night is a huge plus, the food was delicious! The only thing I wish is that the kitchen offered delivery (door dash, uber eats, etc.), so I could enjoy that great food at home when I'm being lazy. Either way we'll definitely be back. read more

Great new neighborhood spot - perfect for LLV residents who want something close. Super welcoming, friendly staff. Excellent food and portions. Extensive menu. We have only tried breakfast so far but will go back again for happy hour and game nights. Lots of tv screens with a variety of sports, plus gaming of course. Great tunes as well as a nice vibe. We visited Second Chance Tavern for lunch and ordered the BYO burger with fries, carne asada tacos and brisket tacos. The burger was delicious. Cooked as requested, and very juicy. The fries were also very good. The brisket tacos were tasty, the carne asada was not. Both tacos appeared to have leftover, and overcooked meat. The carne asada had no flavor whatsoever. We would not order the tacos again. Our server, Nevaeh, was very attentive, and very polite. Thank you Nevaeh! Ok, Saturday night server is AWESOME! I wish I don't for get name, but she is by far the most amazing we have had at any restaurant! We did like the day and don't want say anything bad as they are friendly but we stopped going for awhile because of various issues ..... so when suggested to go back I was hesitant.... But it's close and we were tired. Let me tell you! It did not disappoint! I got the chicken katsu sandwich that sounded like.... Hhmmmm, should I? Well, I didn't want stuff I can get at any other place so I got it. It was great!!! But the best of all!? Our server! She anticipates what you forget to ask for, she gets refills and clears unused items!!!! Clears it away! That's hard to get anywhere these days! She was so good I had to ask when she works. Saturdays night will be our night now! Was kind of slow for what we thought would be a busy Valentine's Day, she had other tables but we felt like we were spoiled! Great staff, within 5 minutes we knew Jimmy and then Justin the boss came by to say hi. Everyone loved their food and knew we finally had a local spot we could enjoy. We even came back the next day and they were having a disco birthday party for one of the bartenders. She was also very nice and was right there when we needed anything. Oh man, this place is the place to be! Great variety of tv's, insanely good food and good company! The food was nothing short of exceptional and obviously someone there knows how to make brisket! I want to add the fried cheese was super flavorful, normally fried cheese is not something I go for because you're just paying for breaded cheese but theirs had a very flavorful breading that made it more than just the basic app. The bartenders and staff were super friendly and attentive. The gentleman that was helping us at our table was very chill and although they were insanely packed, he didn't rush anyone. Sitting outside in the evening would be beautiful with the view and obviously sitting inside watching your favorite game would make your evening all the more worthwhile. Just make sure after all is said and done, you save room for the dessert! Skip your last beer and order that deep fried cookie dough or the fudgie cake, you will not be disappointed! read more

We went initially because yelp said smoke free atmosphere. Not true, many smoking cigarettes at the bar. Ordered Philly Cheese with tator tots and we got fries. Not even 1/4 star. My husband and I went to lunch at SECOND CHANCE tavern. Food was AWFUl! I ordered a French Dip Sandwich. Meat tasted old like it had freezer burn. The aus jus wasn't even close to anything that even resembled aus jus. It was like gravy that tasted like brown chalk! It even had pieces of meat in it - I spit it out in my napkin. My husband ordered a 5 egg omelette that looked like it had 2-3 eggs in it. He ordered it with bacon and sausage (he's a carnivore) and he said it was tasteless! Service was slow and after they brought the food 25 minutes later never came back to check on us after we were done eating - never before. $50.00 later...I wanted to ask for my money back (but didn't) just left. We both got sick on the food. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more
