Last night was the worst service I have ever received in 30 years of eating out. Let's be up front, The food is decent casual dining here but nothing fancy. They occasionally have interesting and different new menu items. And I know what I'm getting into here, aka I don't typically come here for the service. Service is slow and don't bet on getting a refill on your drink most days but it's convenient while my kids are playing hockey. Last night was the absolute worst though. We sat at the table for over 40 minutes without an acknowledgment before my husband went to the bar to order our food to go. Thank goodness for Rick. What is not to love about this place? Honestly, the stars shock me. We had nothing short of a five star experience. Bobbi Jo was our server and helped walk us through the menu. There's even a gluten free menu and the kitchen really takes it seriously. Everything we had was delicious - the chicken flatbread (was too delicious to even take a picture before we devoured it and the ranch was so tangy. OMG.), the Cobb salad (the chicken was spiced to perfection), and the spinach salad (no shortage of the yummy toppings). The dressings were fire. Unique, balanced, and most importantly, delicious. 10/10 would recommend. We've never been to a MacKenzie restaurant and before I left I had already pulled up the website to see which ones we can visit on our upcoming trips. We'll definitely be back. read more

Love love love MacKenzie River. My husband and I love our Water St location and the staff never disappoints! We came tonight very specifically for pizza and to avoid the UFC crowds. We've never tried the pizza here (dumb, I know) and ordered the Madison with a side of fries. Everything was absolute perfection. Shannon was remarkable and very attentive; she immediately came over the moment we sat and checked on us regularly throughout our meal to make sure our drinks were topped off and that we had everything we needed. We came to McKenzie River after watching my nephew play hockey the other night. The food was really good. My aunt and I split a veggie pizza. I would've never ordered this unless my aunt suggested it, but it was actually amazing and I can't wait to go back I'd have like a garlic base to it. Overall my experience was subpar to the bare minimum. You have 15 people working the floor but constantly we were ignored when we were trying to flag someone down. Servers were nice when you could actually get their attention which is less than half the time. We ordered one sandwich and a Caesar salad wrap.. it took 20 minutes for our food to show up, the wrap had barely any dressing and it took us 10 minutes to flag down another person to get a side of dressing. Overall overpriced food, lackluster of service, and okay ambiance. If you want to watch a game and get food, just go to Johnny Mac's down the street and save yourself the expensive trip that Mackenzie River offers. read more

I'm really sad to hated to rate so low. We've actually come here four or five times and I've waited to do an updated review hoping that I could do a higher one. The staff is friendly and nice and the drinks are good, but oh my goodness it is so slow. Every time I have gone, it takes at least 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me. There is a waiter. There is a gentleman who I have get to get his name who is absolutely amazing and friendly. He's often there running the primary dining area on his own and he makes it OK somehow. Again, it's not that the people are rude but for the price that you're paying, it is unbelievably slow. The food is almost always cold or lukewarm by the time I get it. And I'm not really a salad girl when I go out to eat. This last time was probably our last because as we were sitting in the main area, there was a probably five-year-old girl and her brother running around screaming throughout the dining room and at one point, the father let her sit up on the bar top and was just hanging out there Next to a bunch of people drinking. Such a bummer because I love the location and the way everything's laid out and the drinks are great.... again a little overpriced, but anyway wish them the best read more

If you're looking for a restaurant where you can watch the Silver Knights practice, look no further than MacKenzie River, Grill, & Pub on Water Street in Henderson! MacKenzie River is located inside the America First Center (formerly Lifeguard Arena), which is the main practice area for our fellow Knights. Just walk up the steps from the street, go through the automatic doors, and boom, it's right there in front of you. Originally we wanted to do takeout, but seeing that we were able to seat ourselves, we chose to dine-in instead. They have numerous high-top seating areas overlooking the hockey rink separated by a large window, which is totally awesome. After finding a table, we pulled up their menu by scanning a QR code on our phones, though we were given physical menus when our waitress came around. For our starters, we chose to share a plate of street corn nachos. These nachos were the bomb! They were topped with corn, melted cheese, sour cream, chicken, and cilantro, with two lime wedges on the side. I'm already becoming hungry by writing this review because these nachos were so good. For our pizza, I got the Good Ol' Boy and my boyfriend got the Stockman, both small. We did have to wait a while for our waitress to come around, and we waited an additional 20-25 minutes for both our nachos and pizza to come out, but I am not docking any stars due to the slow service because I really enjoyed what I got. The Good Ol' Boy was packed with pepperoni, and I mean PACKED. Like every inch of my pizza had pepperoni on it where I couldn't see any cheese. I ate about three pieces before deciding to take the rest back home with me. The Stockman was topped with pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, and steak strips. My boyfriend commented that they had some excellent pizza here, and he also decided to take his leftovers back with him. Now I really want to come back just for their nachos and pizza! Parking was incredibly easy - we parked in the parking garage across the street from this establishment, which actually had a few open spaces on the first floor, and walked over from there, even though it was super windy that night.
