    Half-size Eggplant Parm Grinder...
    Jeff B.

Surprisingly, we got off to a shaky start to our Maine/Connecticut adventure here. Salivating in my mind about my first Veal Parm grinder in CT in over a decade--after a red-eye flight from Spokane--they had....no veal. Oh well, move on to a Meatball grinder. And they were....out of meatballs at 11:28AM. Settled for an Eggplant Parm grinder. While it was decent, they sure felt like I didn't need hardly any sauce on it, and if there was provolone on it, you sure coulda fooled me. Wifey had a gyro, but every deli in the country uses Kronos gyro meat, so that was hard to mess up. Young gal at the front counter was impossible to understand as a low-talker with a language barrier to boot. An anomaly for sure at our first at-bat in New England...

Holy Hoagie! The saying goes "don't let the name fool you" but there's no fooling at Poquonock Giant Grinder! I decided to say conservative with just a half sandwich and could barely even finish a half of that. The meat is sliced fresh to order that is an amazing mark of freshness that is rarely found outside of a grocery store deli. The sandwiches are stacked with premium ingredients. Staff is friendly and helpful. Finish the experience with baklava for dessert.

Best Custom Grinders - A Must-Try! I stop by Second Poquonock Giant Grinder Shop every week, and this time, I discovered that they make custom grinders! I asked for veal, sauce, and fried mozzarella sticks in mine, and it was absolutely amazing--perfectly crispy, saucy, and packed with flavor. The best part? You can customize your grinder any way you like, and they'll make it happen. Whether you're looking for something indulgent or a healthier option, they have endless possibilities. Highly recommend giving it a try!

    Meatball grinder and combo

My fiancé grew up coming here and I must say it did not disappoint! The meatballs were seasoned perfectly and just enough sauce and cheese. The combo did not skimp on the meat at all! For $9 per grinder it was well worth it. 10/10 would recommend if your looking for a grinder in the Windsor locks area.

Outstanding turkey club, enough to feed 3 people, wonderful service too. This deli was highly recommended to me a Facebook page called Hoagie Gurus, I will definitely try another sub here next time I fly into Hartford airport.

Stopped in just after lunch hour. The place was quite but from the reviews, I had to give it a try. Ordered a steak and cheese grinder and it was fantastic! It's too big to pickup at first but what a great samwich. The fries were very good as well. I will be back for sure

I decided to check out Second Poquonock for their italian combo. When I stepped into the restaurant it was pack as it was lunch time. I walked straight to the front. I gave my order to the owner wife. Very friendly and everyone behind the counter was very oblidging. my order 2 italian combos lol!! no im greedy but one of the grinders was my sister. I couldn't resist trying the fried chicken it was calling me. The ambiance is very casual and they have some popular items on the menu. The buffalo chicken grinder, egg plant grinder & chicken parm. Oh let's not forget the fried chicken. The chicken was fresh from the fryer. Omg the scent was intoxicanting. I purchase a leg & thigh, damn damn.it was banging and all i had was my bone in front of me. A must try when you visit. They have chicken prepared a few different ways, fried , backed chicken and baked 1/2 legs and different flavored wings. Oh almost forgot you can get jojos as well( fried) potatoes. I decided to cut half of one half of my grinder. Let me tell ya'll that was hands down the best italian combo grinder I've ever had. The meats were very tasty and it all just mesh well and it was like a party in my mouth. I've tried Giant Grinder, Corner Stone, Rinaldis and Jersey Mikes and Jimmy Johns. this is my all time favorite. So when your in the Windsor Locks area take a stop into Second Pocuonock and enjoy whatever your heart and belly desires. Yelper until my next foodie adventure. #FOODIE4LIFE!!

Stopped in to grab a to-go order. So glad I got the 8" pastrami grinder , it was more than enough for me. I live in Florida, and I'm always on the look out for places to check out.

I wanted me an A1 SAMICH! I saw everyone on Yelp raving about how good this place is so why not give em a shot right? Let me start off by saying the 50s-60s vibe you get when you walk thru the door is special. Workers took they time to dissect the menu for me because I ask 100 questions thank you! I got the chicken Philly and a couple JoJos on the side. Portion size were HUGE! Trust me...ima big guy and I couldn't finish a half sub. My only downfall about this place was how bland the food was. Literally all you guys needed was some Larry's on the chicken and JoJos and I'd given y'all 5 stars lol. If I'm ever in the area I'll definitely give this place another shot since it wasn't "Horrible"...I'll just remember to bring my own seasonings lmao..

Knew what I was going to order before I even stepped foot in the place. Chicken Pesto Panini. Wish I had asked what else was in it because my gut told me there would be tomatoes and I was right. I picked them out after the fact. Sandwich was good, had it on wheat bread. Did not really fill me up though, even eating the oatmeal cookie afterwards. I also ordered a large beef stew to take with me to work. Ate it cold which I didn't mind. I enjoyed it. Overall, I think if I were to order a chicken pesto sandwich I would personally get it from hot table. Will be back though to try another soup and another sandwich.

What you do need, is the option to have a unique salad and sandwich with any combination of toppings you want. Much like Subway, you can see all of the toppings that are to choose from for your salads and sandwiches, but there are so, so many more delicious fresh options to put on them. If you don't know what you're looking for, they have combos already set up for you on the menu that have no-brainer deliciousness. Also, the soups are so good. I had the cheddar broccoli and I have zero regrets . This is a lot because they were many soup choices. Speaking of choices, if you have never had the Tractor brand of tea and juice combos, it is better than any other thing you're going to get in a store or fridge case. ( think Snapple but with a fresh taste) . There are lots of places to get food in Enfield, but if you are looking for a place to get lunch , and you are working in Enfield, this is definitely the place to try and it's close to where you are, you know it. "And there's fire on the mountain Lightening in the air…read moreGold in them hills and it's waiting for me there" (Marshall Tucker Band) Fire On the Mountain has one of the most unique menus I've ever encountered. Seriously, where else have you ever seen breakfast quesadillas, catfish and grits, cheesecake cornbread waffles, smoked brisket hash, deep fried pork ribs, catfish, mushroom, and alligator tacos, and a Puerto Rican Rice Bowl all happily living in the same menu's neighborhood? And then, the icing on the cake was our server - a charismatic and uber-friendly gent named Bromwell who lights up the room with his personality. He made my list of the five greatest servers I interacted with this year. The restaurant's location is as unusual as its menu. You'll find it occupying the front space at the Suffield Commons Senior Living Apartments! Yup, as you walk through the restaurant and out their back door, you actually enter a common space for the housing complex. The restaurant itself has two dining rooms with booths, tables, and chairs and a bar with dining room chairs. That eclectic menu is chock full of breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices with Mexican and barbecue flairs. We were there for lunch and ordered two things. The first was an enormous Cheese Quesadilla ($9.35) with pork ($3.12) on a grilled flour tortilla served with sour cream and pico. It was a thing of beauty, cut into five thick wedges loaded with smoked pork. Our second item was a Caesar Salad (Half size for $6.23) with a side of smoked brisket ($9.36). I passed on the croutons and Caesar dressing in lieu of barbecue sauce as my dressing. I gotta tell you, the brisket was GREAT, a big serving of tender and juicy smoked beef cut into four slabs that must have totaled close to a half pound. We loved everything about Fire On the Mountain and agreed that we need to return for a proper breakfast when we are out that way or making a morning airport run. PRO TIP The restrooms are located in the housing complex's common space I described earlier/ Just exit the restaurant by the door in the rear dining room, and you're just about there.

Had myself some pancakes, scrambled eggs and potatoes and this hit the spot! Pancakes were huge filled with blueberries. Potatoes were crisp as I had asked. And when I order scrambled eggs with cheese this is exactly how I want them made, fluffy and mixed together. They have alligator on the menu and as temped as I was to order, I will save that for next time.
