I wasn't sure what to expect when I read recent reviews stating that ownership changed hands. It didn't look good when we came in there was only one table occupied. The employee asked whether we'd been there before and when I said no, she told me which sandwiches were popular. I decided on a sandwich I had read about in one of the reviews, the Nazar. It is a meatball sandwich with mozzarella cheese on a Grinder Roll. The toasted Grinder Roll was pretty good and soft and spongy on the inside. The meatballs were sliced in two, which made them easier to eat. The meatballs tasted salty, but if they didn't taste salty, they would probably taste bland. The portion of melted mozzarella was good. I thought the sandwich was on the small side. I don't have a big appetite and I was hungry after eating it. I had been thinking about going to SOLO, the Thai ice cream place next door and I definitely had room. The sandwiches were not cheap. The total for a cold and my hot sandwich with tip was a little over $23. I would have to say Second Reef is better than most of the sandwich places I've tried. read more

I paid $22 for the veggie sandwich to be delivered. I specifically asked for no onions or alliums because I am allergic. I go to bite into my sandwich and find thinly sliced onion hidden between the avocado. This isn't something I can just remove and eat the remaining part of the sandwixh. I know they are known at Second Reef for good sandwiches. The true test was for me to go there today and get a Vegetarian sandwich for my nephew who has been a vegetarian for years now.. The sandwich is called the Uluwatu. Named after one of Bali's best beaches. My nephew knew that name right away when I brought him his sandwich. HIs eyes just about popped out of his head when he opened the box. The store had given me extra balsamic vinegar and hot sauce too. He said it was the very best veggy sammy's he has ever had. He said it twice. the squaw bread he said was perfect and so soft and delicious. Quite a statement from someone who has eaten a lot of those sandwiches thru the years. Its very clean and such a congenial environment there with nice employees. Even the owner couple were there working too! A lot of variety in sandwich options and breads. Second Street Deli--Shame on you. You were are go to sandwich shop for 3+ years---NOT anymore. We ordered today and after I recovered from the mild heart attack that 3 sammies were going to cost me $43, I said to myself--OK everything is going up so I want to stay loyal to a small business who we like. Picked-up the sammies to go and when I got them home--they were no where worth the $16.99 you charge. On the 2 Varrazes there was too much mayo and no vinegar/oil. On the Brookstreet the amount of turkey was subpar and who ever prepared it, thought they would compensate for minimal turkey by slopping on loads of Mayo. WTF??? Disappointment is an understatement. Your sandwiches use to cost $13.90. Inflation as of June 16th, 2022 is 8.6%. You are charging $16.99--WAY more than the cost of inflation. Once you get your heads screwed on correctly and go back to stellar sandwich making with lower prices I will return with my business. Until then--Moes Deli, Jersey Mikes, Pavilions and Wholefoods will take your place. read more

Best potato salad around, and because of the gloomy weather, I tried the Padang Padang hot chicken sandwich rather than my usual Italian cold cut one. The yummy sauce, melted cheese, and bacon were perfect complements to the delicious hot sandwich. Absolute bliss! We finally tried this place - COVID 19 review: First off, I want to support the local, but they need to tighten up their policy,. Neither of the bearded ones making our sandwiches were wearing masks, but they were wearing gloves. Patrons were not required to mask up. The owner was nice but no mask. He did give us a free apple juice for the long wait. Sandwiches are pricey, $12 for a sandwich. I've stopped by here maybe three times or so after going to get boba at Pengo, and each time they have been consistently tasty with good sized portions of meat -- as expected for the amount you pay for the sandwiches. My favorite is the Varazze, and today my fiancee just enjoyed the Padang Padang sandwich, which I tried and it was very yummy! They are staying open for take out during covid-19, from 11-2. We love this place! The sandwiches are delicious - my favorite is the Padang Padang. We've only done online orders and picked them up in the store, but the service has always been fast. I do wish that customers would be required to wear masks right now though, because I don't really feel safe with unmasked people standing around waiting for their orders. Overall, the food here is wonderful. My fiancé and I have enjoyed our sandwiches every time. The Padang Padang has really tasty chicken on it, and the bread is toasted nicely. I came here to see what all the yelp was about. I had a hunger for a really good sandwich and was curious. This place is in a small mall area so you cannot see it from the street. Upon entering the place I noticed it was clean and a bit empty for a highly rated sandwich place. The decor and sandwich names are a surfer themed. I met who I think is the owner, Yudi (forgive me if I misspelled it). He and the rest of the staff have really exotic haircuts like they are on a tv series. The customer service was excellent as they offered suggestion at my request and were friendly. The staff has prior experience at Subway sandwiches and are quick and polite. They also have really cool haircuts. I ordered the meatball sub-sandwich. Within minutes its was ready and looked deceptively small. I found the plastic forks and knives and started on my sandwich. The taste of the bread I give 10 out of 10 for its awesomeness. The sandwich has five ounces of meatballs (for comparison Subway Sandwich has 4) and a heaping amount of cheese. I couldn't help comparing it to the best meatball sandwich I had before it which was the Firehouse Sub Meatball. The biggest difference I could tell was that places like Firehouse sub use more sauces (tomato - marinara) and Second Reef Deli is light on theirs. When I pointed it out the manager offered to give me extra in a dish for dipping. I passed on his offer to eat the sandwich as is. I found it hearty and juicy with cheese for which I give the meat and cheese a 10 out of ten. The amount of sauce is a matter of taste and since the manager offered more in a dipping dish I am more than satisfied. I feel this establishment deserves 5 out of 5 stars. I will return to try the grilled cheese and roast beef with cheddar. read more

They don't skimp on the trimmings and they created a sandwich palate that is great for the all around customer - aka mass appeal. We tried everything as is, and did not disappoint. The owner could tell my husband was a fan of a little heat in his sandwich so next time we will definitely try throwing in some hot sauce or peppers. I decided to give Second Reef a shot based on Yelp reviews and proximity to my house. My wife wanted the Mavericks and I opted for the Cloudbreaker. When I got there I ordered, but realized that I mistakenly ordered the Trestles instead of the Mavericks. A person who I believed to be the owner of the business approached me at the counter and told the staff to make the sandwich. I offered to pay the difference, but he said not to worry about. Tried Second Reef Deli for the 1st time and I went off of the reviews that I read on yelp and man was it delicious. I know its kind of bias opinion when it's a sandwich place cause some people think most sandwich places taste the same. But Second Reef is in it's own category because to me they're levels to a type of sandwich. Subway and Togo's are basic level, Second Reef is no where up there. And the best part is how inexpensive it is; I had the Padang Hot Sandwich but I added so many add-ons to the sandwich that 1 of the guys was like, "man this sandwich looks delicious and probably taste amazing. They actually close at 2pm right now so we received a call and they said they would follow through with the order since we ordered after 2pm and were out of town. unfortunately what we ordered was not what we got. Both sandwiches were missing condiments and when we checked a sandwich before we left (shouldn't have had mayo) it had mayo. They offered to remake it and we were grateful. Unfortunately, they tried to take off the mayo and put so much yellow mustard to cover it but there was still mayo. The owner added an extra bag of chips which was nice. Not sure if we would visit again even though the yelp reviews say the sandwiches are good. Second Reef Deli Located in a quiet and comfortable interior wing (Near JoAnns and 24 Hour Fitness) of a shopping center at La Paz and McIntyre this deli was a wonderful discovery! The interior design was open and pretty and there is also plenty of outdoor seating at umbrella covered tables. The sandwiches are each handcrafted and include very generous portions of deliciousness! The sliced meats are high quality and not fatty. We ordered the California Ruben (slaw rather than sauerkraut) and The Trestles (roast beef). We also had a side of the potato salad. A treat as they make it like my mom taught us to! So good and really hit the spot. The service was quick and attentive. If you are looking for a nice, clean and very good meal for your money I would encourage you to try Second Reef Deli. My husband and I split the Padang Padang and it was amazing! You can tell how much love goes into their sandwiches.
