One of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time! I was unfortunately at the hospital visiting a family member and needed a place to get some food and water. I went to target but they didn't have much. I saw a sandwich shop right next to it and gave it a try! They had some awesome specials, but it was early and I went for the egg salad. I was told (I think it was the owner) that they only had enough for half, so he gave me a another half of chicken salad. I am a huge egg salad fan, but I think I liked the chicken salad even more. We are talking 1a and 1b though, both were great. Bread was nice and soft, both the egg salad and the chicken salad had a perfect balance of ingredients. Mac salad was bomb too. The woman who rung me up was super nice as well, the whole thing was awesome and brightned a pretty crappy day at the hospital (and especially the lack of sleep since I stayed the night). This place is so easy to miss if you don't frequent the area. I was starving and in the area and thought there must be something next to Target - Sure enough here it was. I had dad's special, the baguette was pillowy soft and delicious. The girl at the register was so friendly. As I ordered my sandwich and drink I heard someone call from the back - ask if they want a cookie. They were fresh baked and such a treat. Highly recommend a visit. I was in this plaza for AAA and saw this tiny sandwich shop that has great reviews. As I was standing in line all the customers were raving about the food. I got the pastrami, hot Italian beef, chicken parm and meatball sandwich. The pastrami was really juicy and tender, it was a bit oily so I think half portion is good enough. The other sandwiches were very good as well. There are a few tables set up inside and outside. The staff was very friendly. Wednesday, 1 pm status report: the lot was swamped -- I'd peg it ~95 % full. If you roll in thinking "lulz, plenty of parking," be forewarned: the hive is real. The Vibe & What I Loved (and What I Didn't, but Lightly) This reads like the scribbling of a maniacally caffeinated food enthusiast. Enjoy. Dad's feels intensely home-grown. I mean, they've got homemade lemonades (mango, pineapple, lemon, the works), homemade chips (salt & pepper or spicy Italian -- both solid), homemade bread (soft, tearable artisan style), and a hand-scrawled chalkboard menu that looks like it might revolt any minute. That's your evidence, Your Honor -- it's not a franchise; it's a deli with personality. I ordered the large pastrami (a $16 "toll fee" to sail past hunger's border). Service was warm, friendly, chatty. The interior is petite (like adorable "blink and you miss a seat" small), but there are two outdoor tables, which are perfect for the "Groundhog Day 75° sunny blue-sky" routine California gives you ~345 days a year. They give you a half pickle with the pastrami. It was pretty darn good. Not "Lower East Side, angel-voice-choir" deli level, but respectable. STELLAR Pastrami Sandwich. I usually am not the biggest fan of Pastrami since theyre usually salty and overly meaty. The ratios were perfect between the mustard, pickles, provolone and meat. The service was great, the guys there were sweet and gave great recommendations. The music was all good too so whoever was controlling the playlist, thank you for the good vibes! I wanted something different that I usually don't consume on a regular basis and now have to say, Dad's soup and sandwiches will be added into my rotation of eats. Today's soup was pea soup and wow!! Anderson's has got NOTHING on this pea soup. (Solvang's famous split pea soup) It was so flavorful and my real regret today was getting a cup and not the larger sized bowl. I also got Dad's Special as well as some chips. This was so good and consumed very quickly. I was in a rush and wanted a sandwich nearby for me and my girlfriend. At first, I honestly didn't think it was enough food, I ordered the full size sandwich and their homemade chips. I'm glad I took a chance on this place because the food is very fresh and I was stuffed at the end of my meal. (For reference I am 230 lbs and go to the gym, so I can eat a lot) I felt great afterwards and the flavors were fantastic!
