Chicken Parmesan

Love this place!!! So good. First time coming here and they were awesome!!! Super friendly and accommodating! My chicken Parmesan sandwich was so good. My dad ate all of his and said it was the best sub he's had in a long time.

I was in this plaza for AAA and saw this tiny sandwich shop that has great reviews. As I was standing in line all the customers were raving about the food. I got the pastrami, hot Italian beef, chicken parm and meatball sandwich. The pastrami was really juicy and tender, it was a bit oily so I think half portion is good enough. The other sandwiches were very good as well. There are a few tables set up inside and outside. The staff was very friendly. It is part of the Target plaza so there is plenty of parking available.

Dad's, Mission Viejo I discovered Dad's tucked into a strip-mall cluster at 27533 Puerta Real (so yes, it is in a shopping hub -- plenty of storefronts, a Target nearby, and that blessed sea of asphalt parking you California suburban dreamers live for). Wednesday, 1 pm status report: the lot was swamped -- I'd peg it ~95 % full. If you roll in thinking "lulz, plenty of parking," be forewarned: the hive is real. The Vibe & What I Loved (and What I Didn't, but Lightly) This reads like the scribbling of a maniacally caffeinated food enthusiast. Enjoy. Dad's feels intensely home-grown. I mean, they've got homemade lemonades (mango, pineapple, lemon, the works), homemade chips (salt & pepper or spicy Italian -- both solid), homemade bread (soft, tearable artisan style), and a hand-scrawled chalkboard menu that looks like it might revolt any minute. That's your evidence, Your Honor -- it's not a franchise; it's a deli with personality. I ordered the large pastrami (a $16 "toll fee" to sail past hunger's border). Service was warm, friendly, chatty. The interior is petite (like adorable "blink and you miss a seat" small), but there are two outdoor tables, which are perfect for the "Groundhog Day 75° sunny blue-sky" routine California gives you ~345 days a year. They give you a half pickle with the pastrami. It was pretty darn good. Not "Lower East Side, angel-voice-choir" deli level, but respectable. After the sandwich, I drifted into a food coma state, which I (paradoxically) hold up as evidence that they did something right. All told, I'd rate it 4/5. It's not the best deli in the multiverse, but I adore that it's family run and homemade. It feels real. A Few Slight Nits (because I must) * The space is cramped, so if all seats are taken, you might feel like you're part of a sandwich assembly line. * It doesn't transport you to New York's Jewish deli heaven, but that's okay -- expectations must be tempered. * The chalkboard menu is charming until you realize you can't read your own tablet because glare. (Yes, I overthink this.) Bottom line: When you find yourself in Mission Viejo and your soul is screaming for pastrami (October 2025), Dad's is a damn fine option. Solid 4 of 5. I respect what they're doing.

Pastrami Sandwich

STELLAR Pastrami Sandwich. I usually am not the biggest fan of Pastrami since theyre usually salty and overly meaty. The ratios were perfect between the mustard, pickles, provolone and meat. The service was great, the guys there were sweet and gave great recommendations. The music was all good too so whoever was controlling the playlist, thank you for the good vibes! I work with a coffee shop nearby so i will definitely be back! Cant wait to have a million more pastrami sandwiches

Wow so delicious! Cute little sandwich shop in a strip mall that is churning out such high quality and generous portions of great sandwiches and salads Owner and staff are so nice and welcoming! The grilled vegetables on focaccia bread was so good. The half portions are so generous. The homemade chips bring it to the next level Hubby had pastrami with dill pickle chips and loved it. We mentioned it was his birthday and they gave us their delicious chocolate walnut cookie on the house! Go check this place out!!

Half Meatball Sub and spicy house chips
Gregory O.

Incredible meatball sub, small but might. The seasoning and tenderness was spot on. Homemade house chips were really good too, for the spicy flavor, like a Cajun spice to them, just enough but not too spicy. Only downside was very small inside and took a little to get our food, but they were busy and it's a small shop so understandable. Would def come back and try the pizza and other sandwich offerings.

Half of a large Italian sandwich

Nice local sandwich shop. I ordered the large Italian special which had a decent amount of thinly sliced cold cuts The board said they have homemade pastrami, so I will have to try that in my next visit.

Dad's Deli outside dining

The sandwiches were delicious on fresh home made bread! Many flavors of chips to chose from it was difficult to decidedill pickle won out! Topped off with a homemade Excellent service!

Seasoned well dill pickle chips

5/5 stars -- Hands down the best sandwich spot in Mission Viejo…read more I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. Sherman, the owner, is absolute class, he's always welcoming, super friendly, and genuinely cares about the food he serves and the people coming through the door. You can tell he takes real pride in running the shop. As for the food? Absolutely incredible. Everything is always fresh, stacked generously, and packed with flavor. It literally never disappoints. I went to the Anaheim location a few time since I live near there, but they can't compete with this place. One time, I placed an order for pick up and I was an hour late due to helping someone with an errand. They gave me a ring and a courtesy reminder to ask if I was still coming or if I was ok, and they even offered to make me a new one! If that isn't service, I don't know what is. 11/10 would recommend.

GETTING HERE: Alas,…read moreI didn't pay close attention to cross streets and offramp. I was locked into my navigation to get me here pronto. It is in the same strip mall as Dirty Pet Wash and Koko Sushi. MOOD: Tired from driving for hours and in need of protein. REVIEW: Thank you to Yelp for showing me this hidden gem! I was a first timer as I was traveling around San Diego and am so happy to have found this shop. Before I waste too much time droning on about how delicious our sandwiches were, PLEASE do yourself a solid and bookmark this place. STOP HERE to order! Food: We ordered a Reuben and a kids Turkey, both on rye bread. SO fresh and so flavorful. I need another one asap. Service: Very friendly and sincere. We had to wait a bit as this place was PACKED when we arrived. But, the employees didn't ignore us or forget us after we placed our order. I was getting a tad concerned they might have forgotten our order (no way). It was worth the wait. Ambiance: Small, cozy, light and open. Windows at the front of the shop. Recommend: Yes. Times a zillion. Thanks!
