He looked so pissed off, didn't make eye contact and barely vocalized our total. When he was making my sandwich, he was slapping things on it and looked like he hated every minute of putting it together. He then sat it on the counter without calling out my name or anything. Big part of this review is because of service and attitude. I don't know what was with the awful vibes. If it was a rough order, if it was because they were open on Easter, I have no clue. I had just bookmarked this place, and within days found myself driving through the area on my way to a club basketball tournament. How auspicious is that? It was meant to be. It tasted average with average amounts of meat. The jaws was a little more interesting with the trifecta of turkey, ham, and beef, plus I added sprouts and it was still an average sandwich. Based on the Yelp reviews of this deli I'm thinking maybe I came on an off day?? I came in on a Thursday afternoon around 3:15 as we wanted to take a sandwich down by the water to enjoy the beautiful day. I found it unusual that there was nothing displayed out on the counter like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cheese etc, all the fixings needed to make a good sandwich. I'm not sure if they were getting ready to close up but this was 45 minutes before their posted closing time?? I asked what the most popular sandwich was since this was my first time here. He mentioned the Maverick which is turkey, sprouts,lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and provolone cheese served on fresh squaw bread and a spicy reef aioli sauce. Sounding good I decided to order it. Unfortunately I was then told they were out of the squaw bread which in my mind made the sandwich. I still ordered it but I had to settle for sliced French bread. The sandwich was okay, a little heavy on the aioli in my opinion but I was especially disappointed they didn't have squaw bread. If it is one of their more popular sandwiches you would think they would have more on hand. The French roll that was an available option (6 inch) was somewhat small for a $14 sandwich. While the sandwich was okay it is a bit pricey for the size sandwich you get compared to other popular delis in the area. I also noticed the ingredients were not evenly spread across the sandwich where one half of the sandwich had most of the avocado and tomato on it so the other half was lacking in some of the ingredients. They only used one slice of tomato for the entire sandwich. Overall while I like to support local businesses I was not super impressed with my first experience at this sandwich place. read more

I went here earlier today for the first time with my husband. The guys behind the counter were very patient with every question we had. I ordered my sandwich and watched them carefully prepare each sandwich. Everything was spread out evenly (not like subway where you sometimes bite down and it's just cheese.) As they're preparing the prior order, I saw them use this bread and asked about it. Said it had honey molasses I believe and I had to try. He offered to change the bread if I wanted, even tho I had already placed my order. Almost wanted to go back for dinner this sandwich was that good. The best description of this place is likely to be "an old subway location that was saved and now makes good food." I ordered the Laguna chicken caesar and Cali cobb salads from here in an attempt to get more veggies in my diet. It took a good 10 minutes for them to be ready, but wow they were amazing. The portions were large and had approriate amounts of all ingredients. There was none of this nonsense about have 90% lettuce and barely any chicken like other places, or having the good stuff mostly on the top. There were delicious bits in every bite all the way to the bottom. I opted for the salads to be pretossed, and I'm very glad I did. A perfect amount of dressing was used, even in each mouthful and not drenching the bowl. All ingredients were great quality and fresh fresh fresh! This is the epitome of a stacked lunch sandwich, it literally looked like something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon. The crispy bacon and fresh turkey paired great with the cheddar.
