We filled out a form, had fun making playlists on Spotify for specific moments of the wedding day (like Ghibli instrumentals for the pre-ceremony, or cute indie songs from our college years during cocktail hour...), and generally left things entirely in Dorion's hands for the dance party. Also, he MC'd exactly to our preference: friendly and positive, but not overbearing and cringey like what I'm sure lots of people picture when they think of a wedding MC. Loved it! Looking back, for something we didn't spend a lot of time handling, the music was honestly such an important highlight. I was a bit uncertain at first because when I searched them up, it indicated that it was based out of Los Angelus and the surrounding area. If you're in Las Vegas, they are available! We used Second Song as our DJ and Saxophone Accompaniment for our wedding celebration dinner party. Second Song was recommended by our wedding planner. Right from the beginning it was clear why our wedding planner liked working with Second Song so much, their customer intake process is excellent. From inquiry to the event, Second Song has a solid process from helping you select which of their services you need to coordinating and executing their services for the actual event. They have all of their services shared clearly on their website and are very transparent about pricing along the whole way. They were very receptive to any questions I had, and I don't think any email was left unanswered for more than 12 hours. More often than not, I would receive responses to my emails in less than an hour. This was true before and after I signed my contract and paid a deposit. After submitting our musical tastes, Second Song provided a list of talent that best fit our preferences. Out of those, Azure G was our favorite DJ. We loved her SoundCloud and how she mixed music together. We had two touch points prior to our event. I actually completely missed our second touchpoint, and Azure was graciously able to reschedule our touchpoint prior to our event.  We really let Azure take the reigns with what music was played with some consideration to our high level preferences. Needless to say, music during our reception was great. We would hear songs come on during dinner, and I'd turn to my husband and say "this is great". Azure also was great in cuing our speeches and amping up our dance floor throughout the night. Our party included senior citizens and families with toddlers, so I knew that by the end of the night, only a fraction of our party would remain. I was so worried that our dance floor would be dead at the end of the night, but Azure brought the energy and knew to play music that kept the party on the dancefloor all the way to the end.  We also had a saxophone accompaniment, Jordan, on the dance floor as well. He was great and all throughout the night, our guests told us "The saxophonist is great!". Would highly recommend it, if that's in your budget. We had a fantastic experience with Second Song and our DJ Jeff Collins for our September 14th wedding. Everyone on the Second Song team (and Rob in particular) was very responsive and communicative. The virtual meeting with DJ Jeff went smoothly, and the shared Google Doc that Second Song provided to track the event details was intuitive and easy to use. Second Song was recommended to us by our party planner. They sent us a bunch of DJ options but said Second Song was the one most likely to get a dance-floor going. Boy did they live up to the hype! Our event was unique - we threw a 5 year anniversary party which served as a make-up for our canceled COVID wedding reception. Despite the sonic & social complexity that introduced (more on that later), the Second Song team - especially DJ Mac! - were a delight to work with. Mac conducted a thorough intro call and was genuinely curious about our story. He was super easy to work with, taking our initial playlist for inspiration, adding to it with his own inspiration where needed (at our request), while also being really understanding and accommodating. I must have texted him 12 times in the days leading up to the event with different song requests and changes to our needs! Our celebration had an elaborate vowel renewal and we realized at the 11th hour that we would actually need 3 different microphones instead of 1. Second Song and Mac were all very understanding and able to accommodate that change. Mac also managed to pull off the vowel renewal (involving a total of 25 speakers!) in an outdoor space with 3 different microphones with no practice! Despite it being so ad hoc he gracefully balanced the audio across each microphone as they moved from boisterous and loud college friends to quiet and shy teenage nieces. It showed a special amount of care and craft to do that so fluidly. Mac brought energy, laughter, and smiles throughout our evening. He used the background info we provided in our intro call to be a great MC and hypeman. It was super important to me that my wife got to dance the entire evening, and our dance floor never got quiet. He played every song I wanted to hear, and then some! Our dance floor was packed all night long. Not only did Mark completely match our vibe, but it was clear that he could adapt to any crowd and keep the energy going no matter what. He even went above and beyond by helping my family friend, who played piano during our cocktail hour, connect to the speaker system. That small gesture meant so much to us.
