For a hotel restaurant it is not bad. We had some apps and drinks at happy hour. Friendly staff and great homemade chips!!! Lupe was great!!!

Great location, We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes drive away from our home. Food was pretty good. Located in beautiful Manhattan Beach. The appetizers were delicious. Cocktails were nice. Servers were great and always efficient, happy and polite.

We had Brunch for Mother's Day and it was the perfect cozy restaurant. The food was delicious. The choice were eggs, bacon, crepes, potatoes, thin sliced salmon, pancakes, waffles omelettes to order and more. The mimosas were good and endless. The staff was very friendly and attentive. If you're looking for someplace to dine Second Story Restaurant would be a good choice.

Second story is the hotel restaurant of Belamar Hotel, located, well, on the second floor. As a Hilton Gold member, I had $18 per person credit to use at this restaurant and so we dined here on a weekend morning bright and early for a la carte selection of breakfast (otherwise starting at 9:30 it's an AYCE buffet style brunch for about $30). I ordered the avocado toast with comes with a hard boiled egg (exactly $18). Since it was early, we got our pick of the table and the staff was very attentive and fast. It was almost the perfect breakfast although part of the toast was pretty burnt on one corner. Otherwise the avocado spread tasted fresh and perfectly salted, the hard boiled egg slices and the arugula and pickled onion topping were a nice balance. It's a sweet deal to only be charged for tax and tip.

It is nested in the belamar hotel. The food was good, and the service was quick. The pricing is pretty moderate, even reasonable rsp for a hotel restaurant. The carrots had soft crunch, which I loved. The fish was also well seasoned. Would go back to this restaurant if I stayed at this hotel.

During my stay at the Belamar Hotel, I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant on the second floor. Before I checked in, I needed a place to work remotely, and the staff went above and beyond to help me connect to the Wi-Fi. They were incredibly attentive, making sure my coffee cup was always full. I ordered waffles and eggs--both were delicious, though I only managed to snap a photo of the waffles! A unique touch was the check, which is presented inside a book where guests are encouraged to leave a note. Overall, it's a charming spot for both work and a great meal.

Delicious and great service. Had dinner and breakfast at this lovely quiet restaurant. Four of us had dinner our first night stay. Appetizers were the wings and fried calamari. Wings were perfectly spiced and juicy! Calamari was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Perfectly cooked! Mom had the fish and chips. 3 huge portions of juicy thick pieces of fish covered with an extra crunchy batter! The batter they use is delicious!! It even stays crunchy 20 minutes after serving. What ever they use it's delicious! My lovely wife had the cob salad and said the chicken was juicy and the greens were crisp and fresh. My beautiful daughter had the salmon and said it was delicious! Very moist and juicy. I had the Nashville hot Chicken sandwich. Tasty filets covered in a slightly spicy sauce. Yummy! For dessert we had ice cream. We had vanilla and chocolate. Get the chocolate it's a fudge brownie chocolate ice cream that's loaded with goodies and very delicious! For Breakfast. Daughter had the avocado toast and she said it was delicious! Mom had waffles and bacon (instead of the chicken) and said it was yummy. My wife and I had the oatmeal and it was delicious as well! Very nice quiet restaurant with delicious food!

When I'm in town for work travel, I like staying at The Belamar Hotel for many reasons (close to my office, clean and comfortable, etc.) including another chance to visit Second Story. The restaurant is literally situated on the second floor of the hotel so you can take the stairs or elevator to get up there. The menu offers small plates, full blown entrees, and a variety of signature cocktails to choose from. Their Horseradish Crusted Roasted Seabass is fantastic and the clam chowder is a good pick if you're looking for something warm before ending the day. I hear they have an excellent Happy Hour but have never been able to make it. I would certainly recommend Second Story for those looking for an appetizing meal.

Mini Huevos Rancheros, avocado toast, lox, bottomless mimosas

I had my baby shower here in February. I can't rave enough about how AMAZING the staff is. John, Antonio, and Melendez all catered to my party and gave us such a VIP experience! They were so easy to work with and more than accommodating. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect turnout. From the planning and logistics of the party, to the execution the day of. Even my guests spoke to me after about how much they appreciated the staff! Now as far as the food options for brunch.... It was a freaking 10-course buffet! What more can you ask for? All the food was fresh and delicious. Whenever food items ran low, the kitchen and staff were on top of it and kept all food replenished and fresh. My personal favorites were the Huevos Rancheros and the warm beignets for dessert! Soooooo good! We also appreciated the bottomless mimosas, bloody Mary's, and Irish coffees! I hope they keep their same staff and menu for a long time because we will definitely be back! Thank you, John, Antonio, and Melendez for a memorable baby shower I will always remember. :)

Nestled within the Belamar Hotel, this place is a little hidden gem. Parking is valet only, but free if you tell the valet that you're going to the restaurant. It's a quaint spot that takes up the second floor of the hotel, hence the name. The staff is friendly, and attentive. Our waitress overheard that we were grabbing a bday before heading out, so she brought a slice of cake for the bday girl, how thoughtful! The cleanliness could be up a notch. It wasn't bad, but it could use a deep cleaning, where the nooks and crannies can be cleaned out. I had an ant crawling on my lap napkin, and noticed the walls should be wiped down and floors vancummed a little better. My grass-fed burger with fries was such a steal because it was happy hour. Only $9 and it was a ton of food! It was basic, but very flavorful. My friends all got the skirt steak and said it was good. My friends and I agreed we'd come back here, again. We'll through it into our South Bay rotation.

Background Story On Visit: Gf asked Jean L. if she knew any great restaurants in Redondo Beach for out aniversary dinner. She responded by saying that Second Story is a must. Type of Restaurant: Blue Zone. Second Story uses organic food products. Credit Cards: Accepted! Happy Hour: Monday through Saturday! 3pm-7pm! Get on it y'all!!! Location/Parking: Located on the 2nd floor of the Belamar Hotel. Valet parking is available or you can chance it by parking in the residential area (oak ave.) like what we did. Ambiance/Decor: dimly-lit, intimate, and some music playing in the background... Makes you feel at ease and most importantly, you don't have to shout when you talk across the table! Modern decor throughout the restaurant. Service: Genka, our waitress, went above and beyond to make sure we were having the greatest time of our lives. She constantly checked up on us and even flagged us down outside of the restaurant to offer a free dessert, because she found out that it was our anniversary. Food (ask for less salt): Cheese Plate (free with yelp check-in): Loved the cheese selections (goat cheese parfait, gorgonzola, and spanich manchego) for this plate! The texture and flavor of the marcona almonds, figs, and grapes balance the cheeses realy well. -Tip: Make sure you ask for more bread! Crispy Calamari (small plate): Lightly batter calamari? Hail Yay! Couldn't have enough of it. The arugula was bomb! Probably emotions were skewed, because there wasn't enough vegetables in the plates we ordered. :P Mac N Cheese (small plate): Mac N Cheese fans rejoiceeee! Cheesy, flavorful, and the texture of bread crumbs was great. New York Steak (dinner entree): Steak was seasoned well (didn't need any additional sauce) and tender. Steamed vegetables and the mash potatoes paired well with the steak! It was delighful to eat. Fire Grilled Organic Chicken (dinner entree): Yum!!! Chicken fans will definitely love this dish! It was tender, moist, and flavorful! Every single ingredient blended in well with the chicken (sauteed shrimp, artichoke hearts, sliced potatoes, esparagus, and the garlic cream sauce)!! Dessert: Bread Pudding: Absolutely yum! Something about the combination of whip cream, vanilla ice cream, and bread pudding makes me happy! :) Drink: Adult Lemonade: Go big or go home righttt? I kidding, but the girls wills like it. I was done after three sips. It's sweeet! Made of swedka vodka, fresh lemon juice, and sugar syrup! Enjoy this place for yo self! :)

You can tell the chefs are dedicated to the craft. They're a 2025 bib gourmand restaurant and are hoping to aim for their first star, so their efforts into the decor, ambiance, and food shows (good luck!). The waitstaff/chefs were also very attentive. Mussels Tart - really delicious. Super unique and beautifully plated. No taste of fishiness or the ocean. Just overall a 5/5 dish that you must try. Beef tongue - I normally enjoy beef tongue thinly sliced at a Korean BBQ restaurant or coarsely chopped up in a street taco. They do it differently here. The beef tongue is one big cube. It's very flavorful and tender. Not as amazing as the mussels tart but still worth a try. Chili crab - this put them on the map. SUPER DELICIOUS. It's not what you'd expect from a creation called 'chili crab'. There's no shell to be seen and the crab meat is actually buried underneath. Scoop from the inside out. Tons of flavor and I wished the portion size was doubled. Lamb pappardelle - if you like lamb then you'll love this. Lots of different spices and flavors. It has a very deep flavor profile that makes you appreciate all the work and thought that went into designing this dish. I'd get this again also! Strawberry tiramisu - they brought this out for the birthday celebration. They prepared it in a gigantic bowl. Scooped out a generous portion and plated it right in front of us. I have a soft spot for tiramisu so I'd recommend this too. Best of luck on the Michelin star! I'd come back. 5/5

I really wanted to love this place. I read all the glowing…read morereviews and convinced myself the negative ones were probably just misunderstandings... but wow, I had it completely backwards. First, the restaurant itself is undeniably cute and cozy, tucked away in a corner of Hermosa Beach. Our first impression was honestly great, and we were excited to try it. Our reservation was at 5:00 PM, but when we arrived, the staff was still inside having what looked like a team huddle or group therapy session well past opening time. At first I thought maybe I got the hours wrong and they actually opened at 5:30. Nope -- 5:00 was correct. I understand pre-shift meetings happen. But maybe do the motivational speech at 4:50 instead of making customers stand outside after your posted opening time? They finally opened the doors around 5:10. Once seated, our server introduced himself by saying he was also one of the chefs, and apparently everyone dressed in white both cooks and serves. I didn't really understand the concept, but honestly, I don't care who brings the food as long as the food is good. These are what we ordered: SQUID -- This tasted like it had been marinated directly in seawater. Painfully salty. I genuinely did not understand the dish at all. Boiled squid with egg salad? Why? The portion was tiny, and we were hungry, so we basically used the mussels tart to dilute the salt enough to finish it. MUSSELS TART -- Actually delicious. No complaints here. BISTRO SALAD -- This was honestly shocking. It was SO sour that it was practically inedible. -- we literally take straight lemon shots every morning but this dish was hard to eat. This wasn't "bright acidity." This was weaponized vinegar. Bitter, aggressively sour, and tongue-numbing after one bite. We had to send it back because it was simply not edible. CABBAGE -- Flavor was good overall, but parts of it were so burnt that I genuinely questioned whether it was intentional or someone forgot it existed in the kitchen. Maybe it's culinary art I'm too uncultured to understand. FISH DIANE -- Delicious. No complaints at all. What ultimately made us decide we won't return wasn't even the inconsistent food -- it was the attitude. They still charged us for the salad we literally could not eat after sending it back. Then the couple next to us asked to keep one menu because they planned to order more later. One of the servers told them not to leave it on the table because she didn't want the menu to get dirty. The menu was a single flimsy printed paper menu. Not leather-bound. Not handmade parchment from the 1700s. Just printer paper. The whole experience felt oddly pretentious for a place serving burnt cabbage and acid salad. Some dishes were genuinely good, but the hospitality felt nonexistent and the food was wildly inconsistent. Cute restaurant, but definitely not somewhere we'd return to.

While prior visits to the restaurant have consistently met high standards of quality and service, several service and billing issues during the most recent visit resulted in dissatisfaction and concern regarding the accuracy of the final bill and tip calculation. Following a lengthy day of medical appointments and a 90-minute drive from UCLA during rush hour traffic, my wife and I decided to dine at Tin Roof Bistro rather than return home to prepare a meal. Based on previous positive experiences, we expected the same level of quality and service historically associated with the establishment. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and initially received courteous service from our waiter, Brandon. However, several issues arose throughout the course of the meal: We ordered two glasses of wine shortly after being seated. Despite the simplicity of the order, the beverages were not delivered in a timely manner. Our order included: * A Caesar salad to share * Bread service * Two entrées After an extended wait period, I reminded the waiter that the Caesar salad had not yet been served. The salad was then delivered promptly following the reminder. At the time the salad arrived, I specifically requested that the entrées not be brought out until we had finished the salad course. Despite this request, the entrées were delivered within minutes, before we had consumed more than a few bites of the salad. We asked staff to remove the entrées temporarily until we completed the appetizer course. The entrées were eventually re-served and were of good quality. Billing and Point-of-Sale Concerns The primary concern arose during the payment process. The electronic payment screen initially appeared accurate with respect to the total amount due. Based on the displayed total, I elected to leave a 20% gratuity despite the service shortcomings experienced during the meal. After requesting a printed receipt, I discovered the following: * The entrées had been entered twice on the bill. * A corresponding credit had been applied to offset the duplicate charge. * The gratuity calculation, however, appeared to be based on the inflated subtotal before the duplicate entrée credit was applied. This duplicate entry increased the apparent bill total by approximately 54%, which in turn increased the calculated tip amount accordingly. Due to fatigue at the time, I chose not to pursue the matter with management during the visit. However, I also observed a nearby table returning an order, which raises concern that similar billing or service issues may have affected other customers. Concerns and Recommendations Given the increasing public discussion surrounding questionable tipping and point-of-sale practices, this experience raises concerns regarding whether: 1. The issue resulted from an employee action, or 2. The POS system is improperly calculating gratuity suggestions based on inaccurate pre-adjustment totals. While I cannot determine whether this incident was intentional, I strongly recommend that Tin Roof Bistro review its POS system configuration and billing procedures to ensure gratuity calculations are based solely on the actual final total owed by the customer. Additionally, improved coordination between kitchen staff and servers regarding course timing would significantly improve the dining experience. This experience was disappointing, particularly because Tin Roof Bistro has historically maintained a high standard of service and consistency. Although the food quality remained good, the service delays and billing irregularities negatively impacted the overall experience. Should I choose to dine at TRB again, I will pay closer attention to the billing and gratuity calculations before completing payment.
