I love G's. The owner Gina is absolutely delightful! All the servers and bartenders are super friendly. Everything I had tried there has been delicious from drinks to food! You'll usually always catch me there on a Tuesday night cause Nick can make a mean blueberry lemon drop. That is a must for me whenever he is there. I mean make that 2 please!! They have event nights as well (follow them on insta to stay in the know). We definitely make it a point to pop over if we are out in town grabbing food or drinks elsewhere, but love to land at G's no matter where we were last. Good vibes, good peeps, good drinks, good food. Zero complaints from this girl about her favorite bar in town!

Summary: A spirited atmosphere with good food, friendly service, and a variety of drinks. Jalapeno Nuggets and Broccolini Bang Bang stood out. Music is a bit loud, but still conversation-supporting. Reservations recommended for prime time. Not a big space, so seating is somewhat limited. On Friday evening I made reservations for four people on Saturday evening at 7pm. We arrived just before and were seated immediately, taking the last table for four available. Inside, the atmosphere was fun and festive for the holidays. Lots of people hanging out and enjoying beverages while talking to the bartender. Everyone seemed happy and lively, and the music was an eclectic mix of genres playing pretty loudly over the soundsystem. We were seated in the corner near the kitchen in a table with high-top chairs. At first, my father-in-law was a little concerned about the chairs because he has a bad back and uses a special pillow to sit on, but these ended up being quite comfortable and he didn't express any complaints after being seated. Soon our server Hayley introduced herself to take our drink orders and answer initial questions. We ended up ordering three large beers and an espresso martini, all of which were enjoyed by their recipients. We also started with the Jalapeno Nuggets and Dirty Dip & Bread appetizers. Neither was super substantial in portion, but both were tasty and well constructed with textures/temperatures. Soon we ordered the rest of our food items including the Pork Belly Pops (overall good, but some chewy chunks) and Broccolini Bang Bang (very tasty and nicely al dente), and my in-laws ordered a chicken wrap with waffle fries (the wrap was quite large, and the fries were surprisingly good). The total came out to around $140, which is reasonable for the portion of food we got with associated quality and freshness. Hayley was very attentive throughout, and we had a good time. My wife and I look forward to coming back again to check out the Happy Hour specials sometime.

What a fun atmosphere with very enthusiastic staff members. Every dish and drink brought out was accompanied by a resounding cheer of encouragement. It was like the whole meal was a momentous occasion. While I wish they had allowed my hangar and smash to be cooked mediums rare, even at medium was a treat, especially after I just went for it abc poured the sauce atop the steak instead of dipping it. This is a great place with great food and the best servers in the game.

I really want to like this place but we've been twice and it didn't appeal to my tastes. Their food is good, but I wasn't wild about their cocktail selection ( a little over the top), and the decor seems all over the place. When I first heard about it I was told it was a speakeasy but this is not that. Locals seem to love it.

In a word...impressed! We wondered in early on a Saturday evening. Probably got there around 4:30pm (no, I'm not that old yet but we had a late breakfast / lunch so...early dinner). Glad we did. It gets busy here early. There's a high energy vibe when you walk in. Music is on the louder side but not club loud. For a speakeasy, you might have to speak louder but that didn't seem to be an issue for anyone inside. Open dining area, lots of tables for two along the wall, a few taller tables for 4 to 6, open bar seating and a large community style seating area right up front by the sidewalk window. Service is spot on - like, lightning right on. We came in, were greeted quickly, told we could pick our own table and were seated right away. In less than a minute, a serve appear with menus and took the time to explain the sharing side of the menu vs. the entree side. Both sides looked great. Lots of fun choices on the menu, alligator, jack fruit, duck, loaded waffle fries, etc. But, they also have "normal" stuff like a burger. We just had to try the alligator and, while to us it didn't taste like chicken, it was good. The creole sauce had a slight kick but was perfect for the dish. Then, like any good Chick-Fil-A lover, we had to get the waffle fries. But they put a twist on it with black beans, queso, guacamole, and a creme sauce. The only thing I didn't like about this was I ran out of waffle fries with some black beans and queso still on the plate. I soaked it up later with the edges of my burger... My wife had the jack fruit enchiladas. We originally asked to add chicken to them as we both prefer meat but the waitress suggested she try it without the chicken as they prepare the jack fruit in a way to mimic chicken. We took her suggestion and she was right! She really enjoyed it and would get it again. Table share and entrees run from $10 to $20, the vibe was fun and we would definitely return. Hope your experience is as good as ours and...enjoy!!!

I had been following G's build up to their grand opening and was excited to finally check it out in person. From the Italian name and online photos, social postings, that it would be small shareable plates, I was expecting the vibe to be a upscale, local bácaro with some good cicchetti, the Venice-style small bites found during aperitivo, the Italian version of happy hour, with olives, cheeses, salumi, maybe some mini pizzas and of course a pasta or two. My Italian expectations also included the bar program as I have been looking for a good Hugo spritz and some big Tuscan reds. I also thought this was a smart way to differentiate from previous Italian tenants and other Italian places in town. Upon arrival, I loved the vibe, decor, except the TV's on the wall above the dining tables ( see photo) as it kinda ruins the upscale vibe and who is watching them over there - the bartender's? The one's above the bar make more sense and I can let those slide though there are already plenty of places to watch sports/TV's in El Segundo. Happy to see that they expanded the actual bar from previous tenants as I would sit at the bar if by myself or just with one other person. Sat in the orange couch area with a small group of friends, love a good lounge vibe and was promptly greeted, given menu's. Here is where I was disappointed, minus the one star, as nope, nothing Italian about it except one prosecco and the idea of small plates (for the table section on the menu) to share along with larger entrees (for you section on the menu) that our server explained are pretty much shareable was well. Lots of carbs: fried this, bread with that. The server also explained that the bar program is a work in progress, ok I get it, you just opened, no Hugo spritz for me. We ordered from both sides of the menu to share all and all the food was delicious and the mostly California wine list decent, friends who did order cocktails said spot on. No dessert menu currently. In summary: off brand but the food was delicious, it is positioned as Eclectic Fare on the website but not really when looking at other places in town, where it is easy to get many similar items with a TV. Great service and great, upscale, lounge vibe ( minus the dining wall TV's). We did give our server our feedback and she did mention the owner is open to evolving over time. Will return when the back patio opens for the Summer and see if I can enjoy my Hugo spritz with some cicchetti then.

There was a seat available right away, and I sat down immediately. Unfortunately, that's where the good part ended. The waitress walked past me at least 15-20 times without acknowledging me -- no greeting, no offer of coffee, nothing. I was completely ignored. The busboy ended up being the one who took my order. I ordered chicken fried steak with eggs over medium and wheat toast. What I received was chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, and white toast. The gravy on the chicken fried steak was very thin and almost transparent -- definitely not the hearty country gravy you'd expect. To be fair, the coffee was decent, and even though I didn't order them, the scrambled eggs were soft and cooked well. But getting the order wrong and feeling overlooked the entire time overshadowed any positives. The waitress seemed far more focused on regular customers and had a very cold demeanor toward anyone new. I understand taking care of regulars, but basic courtesy and attention should apply to everyone. Overall, a disappointing experience. I won't be returning.

The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

It's in between a traditional breakfast restaurant and a diner, and some things I love about it are it has friendly and quick service, a giant menu, and great food. Parking in the area can be a bit tricky, we found a metered street spot a block away, but you may have to circle a few times before finding a spot. For this visit, I chose the Crab & Avocado Benedict because those are two of my two favorite things combined, so it was a no-brainer to order. The crab was very tasty and the hollandaise was made perfectly and overall it was a great dish. I also ordered a side of fruit and they really did not skimp on the fruit quality, they gave me banana, watermelon, grapes, and didn't just throw the melon and cantaloupe at me. We ordered 2 coffee, classic eggs benedict with hashbrowns, and the porkchop with eggs with hashbrowns and a side of buttermilk pancakes. We saw everyone else's food being brought out to their tables, and it all looked pretty good (especially the omelets). Our food took a little longer to arrive, and people who ordered after us received their food first, but it wasn't a big deal. The coffee was watery, and no amount of sugar or creamer could help it. And to think it was $5.49. We finally got our food, and unfortunately, it was not good. The Eggs Benedict ($17.99) was the first disappointment. I took a bite and immediately tasted something sour when I started chewing it. At first I thought it was just the ham, but I'm not entirely sure, since it was covered in hollandaise sauce. It also lacked flavor overall. The only thing I liked was the poached eggs. The pork chop with eggs ($18.99) was extremely dry, difficult to chew, and very bland. It didn't seem seasoned at all. We ordered a side of gravy to help, but I didn't realize it cost an extra $3. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known, especially since it didn't improve the taste or texture of the pork chop. The pancakes were oddly eggy and didn't taste like pancakes at all. As for the hash browns, I didn't realize hash browns could taste bad, but these were mushy and almost slimy. Half of them were heavily seasoned, while the other half was bland. Even the ketchup didn't help because it only made them mushier. Overall, the server was nice, but I wouldn't come back here for the food.

I was dining on the patio with a friend and my service dog. At the time, there were only a couple of other occupied tables, so the restaurant was not busy. Our server, Allison, was repeatedly distracted by a young child from another table instead of attending to her customers. I even have video showing her spending significant time playing with and following the child around while we waited for service. When our food finally arrived, it was brought by another employee and my order was incorrect. I sent it back twice, and after waiting with no follow-up from Allison, I eventually had to go inside the restaurant myself to ask for assistance because she had not checked on us. When Allison finally came outside, I simply asked to have my meal boxed to go because the experience had already been so disappointing. What happened next was completely unacceptable. A man who was not our server--and who I later learned was apparently the husband of another waitress--came outside and began verbally attacking us. He yelled at us, threw wads of money at us, and told us to leave. He even made comments implying that no one wanted us there because we had a dog and were seated on the patio. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially by someone who wasn't even serving the table. Angel, the assistant manager, tried to help, but unfortunately the situation had already escalated far beyond what should ever happen in a restaurant. I seriously considered calling the police because of how aggressive the confrontation became. After leaving, I called the restaurant and spoke with Angel. I requested that the general manager contact me about the incident. That call was recorded, and despite being told someone would follow up, I never received a call. Everyone can have a bad night, but this went far beyond poor service. It involved incorrect food, inattentive service, an aggressive confrontation by someone who should never have been involved, and a complete lack of follow-up from management. I sincerely hope Marmalade Cafe reviews its customer service standards and its policies regarding who is permitted to confront guests. No customer should ever leave feeling humiliated or verbally attacked after simply trying to have dinner.
