Father's Day Brunch. Excellent experience. Special two course meal with special menu offerings. Seriously, one course is more than enough, we had two plus appetizers! But no worries, we love leftovers! Food is always so creative and wonderful.at Tin Roof. Although we no longer live in Manhattan, still one if our favorite restaurants. Food and service are stellar! We started with cocktails, and of course prepared by our favorite bartender / cocktail specialist extraordinaire, Clark. Off Your Head (Bloody Mary) and Ophella's White Sangria. Both were very tasty! Tin Roof has an excellent cocktail program as does their Simmzy's locations. We started out with Brussel Sprouts. Definitely a hit with the whole table. Tin Roof definitely has the best around, flavorful with a nice crunch, never soggy! We all ordered a variery of starters for our first course. Several had Ceasar Salads. Several had the Watermelon and Feta Salad. One had the Bloddy Mary Deviled Eggs, and another had the Fig; Pistashio, and Cottage Cheese Toast. Everyone loved what they ordered. We were full before our next courses arrived! Our server was Malcolm. He was very attentive even though it was an extremely busy afternoon since it was Father's Day. He was very helpful explaining some of the options only offered on today's menu. They offered a Bistro Burger (five out of six of us ordered!) and I wanted to know how different this burger was from their Simmzy's Burger (my personal favorite). He was spot on, explained it was smokey in flavor and quite different with the pretzel bun. It was so.good, served with fries (best shoestring fries!), onion rings, and piled so high you had to use a fork and knife to eat it! We left beyond full! Definitely we will be back soon! read more

Customer Service Incident- 5-19-26 Check # 72 Table 31 This report outlines concerns regarding a recent dining experience at Tin Roof Bistro (TRB) in Manhattan Beach. While prior visits to the restaurant have consistently met high standards of quality and service, several service and billing issues during the most recent visit resulted in dissatisfaction and concern regarding the accuracy of the final bill and tip calculation. Following a lengthy day of medical appointments and a 90-minute drive from UCLA during rush hour traffic, my wife and I decided to dine at Tin Roof Bistro rather than return home to prepare a meal. Based on previous positive experiences, we expected the same level of quality and service historically associated with the establishment. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and initially received courteous service from our waiter, Brandon. However, several issues arose throughout the course of the meal: We ordered two glasses of wine shortly after being seated. Despite the simplicity of the order, the beverages were not delivered in a timely manner. Our order included: * A Caesar salad to share * Bread service * Two entrées After an extended wait period, I reminded the waiter that the Caesar salad had not yet been served. The salad was then delivered promptly following the reminder. At the time the salad arrived, I specifically requested that the entrées not be brought out until we had finished the salad course. Despite this request, the entrées were delivered within minutes, before we had consumed more than a few bites of the salad. We asked staff to remove the entrées temporarily until we completed the appetizer course. The entrées were eventually re-served and were of good quality. Billing and Point-of-Sale Concerns The primary concern arose during the payment process. The electronic payment screen initially appeared accurate with respect to the total amount due. Based on the displayed total, I elected to leave a 20% gratuity despite the service shortcomings experienced during the meal. After requesting a printed receipt, I discovered the following: * The entrées had been entered twice on the bill. * A corresponding credit had been applied to offset the duplicate charge. * The gratuity calculation, however, appeared to be based on the inflated subtotal before the duplicate entrée credit was applied. This duplicate entry increased the apparent bill total by approximately 54%, which in turn increased the calculated tip amount accordingly. Due to fatigue at the time, I chose not to pursue the matter with management during the visit. However, I also observed a nearby table returning an order, which raises concern that similar billing or service issues may have affected other customers. Concerns and Recommendations Given the increasing public discussion surrounding questionable tipping and point-of-sale practices, this experience raises concerns regarding whether: 1. The issue resulted from an employee action, or 2. The POS system is improperly calculating gratuity suggestions based on inaccurate pre-adjustment totals. While I cannot determine whether this incident was intentional, I strongly recommend that Tin Roof Bistro review its POS system configuration and billing procedures to ensure gratuity calculations are based solely on the actual final total owed by the customer. Additionally, improved coordination between kitchen staff and servers regarding course timing would significantly improve the dining experience. This experience was disappointing, particularly because Tin Roof Bistro has historically maintained a high standard of service and consistency. Although the food quality remained good, the service delays and billing irregularities negatively impacted the overall experience. Should I choose to dine at TRB again, I will pay closer attention to the billing and gratuity calculations before completing payment. read more

Went with mom and sister for their happy hour which is from 4pm-6pm Monday through Friday. Sat outside since it was a nice day was immediately greeted by a waitress. Food was very delicious! Ambiance was great nice floral energy. Stuff we ordered: Getting figgy with it: It was just a whiskey on the rocks. 8.5/10 Firecracker shrimp: amazing! Alot of flavor and the shrimp is cooker to perfection. We loved it so much so that we ordered a total of 2 of them! 10/10 Fig and pig pizza: very tasty, very unique in terms of flavors. You the fig compliments the Bleu cheese very well, just wish it was crispier. 9/10 Manhattan beach cobbler salad: It was pretty basic after having all the other flavors. Was just a salad nothing special about it. My friend & I dined here for brunch last weekend to celebrate her birthday. The weather was nice & so we sat outside. The patio ambiance was cozy & relaxing. They even had heaters in case we get cold. Service was attentive & excellent. They served my friend a complimentary dessert at the end to wish her happy birthday which was a very nice gesture. As for food, we shared the fire cracker shrimp, caramelized Brussel sprouts, & short rib hash. Everything was perfectly seasoned, flavorful & delicious! The sauce on the shrimp wasn't overpowering & the texture of the Brussel sprouts wasn't too crispy or too soft. The short rib was super tender & paired well with the sunny side up eggs. We celebrated a birthday at Tin Roof and called in advance to make sure the kitchen can cater to food allergies. They notated and said they can surely accommodate. Food and service was excellent. But alas, like we've experienced before, the food allergies were not taken into consideration during dessert selection and the birthday celebrant was given a dessert that had almonds in it! One of our food allergies. Fortunately, we checked it out and thought it looked "suspiciously" unsafe in terms of allergens. And our intuition was spot on. We dined on a Saturday brunch. At first I was disappointed that the dinner menu wasn't available. But I ordered the Tin Roof Steak and Eggs with roasted potatoes and it was soooo good. The service was great and the meal was served at perfect temperature with great presentation The steak had a great flavor although it's accompanied with a special sauce that made the taste even better. This is a steak I'm accustomed to paying a higher price at other restaurants and it was well worth the Tin Roof price. This was a perfectly proportioned meal for brunch. The steak was sliced and was just nigh enough to satisfy my tastes. For dessert I had the mini lemon meringue cup which I highly recommend as a perfect end to a meal. I enjoyed it so much that I went back the very next day with my mom and sister for dinner. The spiced Mediterranean chicken with white truffle polenta was incredible. I could've licked the plate clean. My friend tried the thin-layered lasagna and loved it as well. My sister ordered the same chicken dish and was just as impressed. My mom had the trout; while she found it a bit on the dry side, she really enjoyed the potatoes, vegetables, and polenta. Their elevated take on spinach dip was so good! Packed with flavor and pretty colors. We all enjoyed the Hugo Spritz, and the service truly stood out. From the hostess to the waitstaff, everyone was welcoming and attentive. The manager even came around to check on guests, which added a really nice touch. He recommended the passionfruit crème brûlée, and it might honestly be my new favorite dessert. Overall, both of my experiences were amazing, and I'm already looking forward to trying their brunch menu. Reservations are highly recommended, but if you're in a small group (around four or fewer), the wait isn't too bad. There's also plenty of parking, which makes things easy. Came in on a Friday night --- LA traffic was horrendous but parking here isn't. Very easy to find, its on the ground floor. Ambiance is really cozy. It's not a huge place but can comfortably move about. Met up with my friends, and all the food was scrumptious. There was never a bad order from cocktails, salad, aps, and entre. Great ambiance indoor and outdoor for parties/birthdays. We were in a private room off to the side which fit about 50 people comfortably with a little bar inside. As part of the prix fixed menu, I opted for the tomato bisque soup, chicken, and chocolate mousse. Hubby selected the ceasar salad, salmon, and cobbler so we were able to try a variety of dishes. I enjoyed all of hubbies dishes more - the salmon had a nice crispiness on the outside but was tender on the inside - very flavorful. Chocolate mousse was quite sweet and disappointing in flavor so I'm glad the crumble/cobbler with a small dollop of vanilla ice cream saved the day! Even the manager who brought out the short rib dishes took out the bone from each one and glazed the meat with the sauce provided. Food: I didn't get to try everyone's dishes but I did get a taste of some of the appetizers. The brussel sprouts were excellent- I love when there's a strong citrus background (8.5/10). The Indian-spiced spinach dip was interesting but pretty good. I don't think I'd order it again but it was def unique (6.5/10). The spicy tuna spring rolls were nice! Perfect spot for after-office-hour dinner as it can easily accommodate quite big group given its huge space. Plenty of food options along with wine, with various options of proteins so it can suit various preferences. I went for their Lobster Ravioli as it caught my attention right away, spotting it on the menu. The portion was very filling for me so the price definitely was worthy. The pasta was cooked al dente and the blend of lobster, shrimp, and mascarpone stuffing was generously served, making it so satisfying in every bite. This dish could be very rich but would suit you best if you fancied your pasta came in flavorful creamy sauce. Another visit to Tin Roof Bistro and once again it reminded me why this place stays in heavy rotation for us. I always pass by here for years especially one of my many banks being next door. Never thought much about dining here because the name never attracted my attention lol. I'm big on cool restaurant names and am a huge Real Royal foodie enthusiast like no other in the world. But big but. Decided to try them out after a nice and bubbly black lady highly recommended here recently. The staff here know who she is. They told us her name that starts with a T. Entered this restaurant and decided to sit outdoors being a good warm weather out. Unfortunately we didn't get to pick our own seats which I'm big on that with being a client and restaurateur myself who let clients pick their own seats with choices of tables I point out to them. Not only more fun that way, but just makes the clients of mine so much happier. That was not intended here. :( I wasn't too happy about that. Their service was polite and friendly. They chose a good team of staff by far that I've seen around here. Food was great. We ordered the many shrimp plate and a salad with beets. With drinks. Will return again to have the same dishes and drinks. Just read their bio by the owner in here and that was a good read. I love true stories since I was a toddler (even have my own when I open my own restaurants and businesses etc) so having read the true story of the owner here, was a real great touch to this restaurant. read more

I've ventured down here from the valley a couple times for a couple get togethers. Our most recent visit was for Sunday brunch for a friend's birthday. She is obsessed with the Brussels sprouts here and I can see why. They are buttery, savory, and cooked to perfection! We also got the firecracker shrimp appetizer, which was delicious. I opted for a caeser salad for my entree, which I enjoyed. I've had their pizza in the past and thought it was tasty and artisinal, though another group member noted that she thought the crust is too thick. Someone else in our group got the short rib sandwich, another got the lasagna. Our birthday girl's order unfortunately got accidentally erased in the ordering process, but the waitress and manager were very apologetic, personable, and went above and beyond to make it right. This is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan Beach. The staff are incredible and Clarke and Michael are the best bartenders ever. Michael's dance moves alone are worth the wait price of admission but the food and drinks are also phenomenal. I've worked in the South Bay area for 10 years now (yes, dating myself) and I've been to Tin Roof Bistro on so many occasions throughout the last decade. It is amazing for work birthday lunches, after work socializing, dinner with friends, or even a date night! The indoor seating is very fancy and pretty but can be a bit loud, so I prefer to sit out on the back patio where they have decorated a courtyard that reminds me of Italy. My favorite dish here is actually on the appetizer menu! The firecracker shrimp is a must try. It is absolutely amazing. Another crowd favorite is the famous Simmzy Burger all South Bay locals know of. Excellent customer service and selection of entrees! We love the Sunday dinner special rack of ribs; good enough for 3 guests to share. Meatballs and calamari for appetizers preferred. The only concern is the ladies restroom; needs to be closely monitored. Had to call attention to refill toilet papers and hand towels. Both were very super yummy! Crust is perfectly cooked and the toppings were wonderful. The sausage on the MSG pizza is very flavorful. The ambiance is rather pleasant to sit down and enjoy a delightful meal. The service was good as well. On Saturday April 4th, I placed an order on their website. I went to pick it up shortly after and learned they fry their fries in beef oil. I intentionally order fries as a vegetarian side. I ask them to cancel the fries in that case, process a refund and I'll take the rest of my order. For whatever reason, the girl at the front or a manager did not process a refund in the very moment. She told me she's writing all my information done to process it later? Not sure why. And that I'd get a call to confirm it's been done. Come Sunday? No call. I call to follow up, no refund has been process and I'm told someone will call me to follow up on it. Come Monday? I call again. I'm being told my wrong contact number was written done but that the refund has been processed. Seven days later, no refund issued and no call still. At the point, idc about the refund but it's the principle behind the issue. Also a bigger issue to be frying in beef oil and no disclosure of that for their vegetarian customers unless I missed it? read more
