If you're looking for classic, old school diner charm paired with homestyle meals, The Local Yolk is the place to go! Our omelette and scramble meals felt like they were made in grandma's kitchen, and their banana pancakes were out of this world and REALLY hit the spot. Their coffee is also delicious for all you caffeine cravers like me! What truly makes The Local Yolk shine, though, is the service. Alex F. went above and beyond to make sure our experience was nothing short of perfect. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm, Alex made us feel like regulars even on our first visit. It's rare to find that level of care and hospitality these days. If you're craving a comforting breakfast or lunch that tastes like home, with service that makes you feel like family, please skip the hipster or touristy spots in MB and stop in for some great eats at The Local Yolk! You'll be glad you did.

First and foremost, Alex provided the best customer service. The food was amazing and beyond fresh. The ambience was exactly what you expect from a local restaurant. Definitely coming back, thank you Alex and The Local Yolk.

Down home storefront, nothing pretentious about this place.

I had not dined here for years, but had breakfast here last Saturday. As other reviews will likely point out, this is very much a local venue for breakfast and lunch, not the upscale hipster type places found in the downtown core. The decor speaks beach cafe, and the menu and food does the same. The food is very tasty, the portions are good and the prices are reasonable. We had not problem getting a table at 11:00 on a Saturday, no wait - maybe we were just just lucky. There are many selections on the menu, and last but not least the service is delivered with attention and plenty of smiles. I would not hesitate to eat here again.

I can see how this place would be divisive. It's a diner and a staple of the beach cities. If you're looking for something more hipstery and cool, go across the street or next door. If you're looking for some good, old fashioned diner food with all that goes along with it, come here. The server was such a nice guy, didn't rush us and gave us some muffins to nosh since it was near closing. You can tell the seating is from way back when and the counter is probably original. I'm a sucker for a good diner and this is almost as good as our go to, Ocean's Diner. This ranks pretty high on my diners list!

Food was great and service was friendly. We took a short walk to the beach after having our breakfast here. I recommend stopping here for breakfast if you're in the area.

This place is always the best - nice folks - back to basics old school great food. About as good as any "bacon - eggs - hash towns - biscuit - pancakes" as you can get..... fair prices too. A "local" gem! Yum yum get ya some!

Five of us enjoyed breakfast here on a Sunday morning. It's a local neighborhood joint with a comfortable, homey interior and plenty of seating if you get there early. We had a couple of California omelettes, an Al's El Porto omelette, a Manhattan Beach omelette and a Denver scramble. All were served with hash browns and your choice of biscuit or pancakes. The biscuits are huge, fluffy and delicious. The pancakes were also very good. All of the omelettes were well prepared - not particularly large, but still a good value considering that the biscuit or the pancakes are included in the price. Service was quick and all of the food was served piping hot. The only "meh" was the coffee. I'm sure we will return to this place.

    A family friendly Dinner.

A must. I was driving by and saw this place. I didn't have breakfast yet, and I like Dinners. This place is small. I believe family owned and run by the looks of it. Very nice menu of a lot of different types of food to choose from. Today, I ordered the Denver Omelet, and a side of fruit instead of potatoes, which was very fresh, and the ham was not salty at all very fresh tasting. I believe it's a 3 egg omelet. Coffee nice not to strong. Staff greeted me right away. Service was fast, and food was hot. I definitely will be coming back to try other items on the menu.

I'm so happy I found this place! I was at the beach and got hungry so I started walking around, hoping to find a cute cafe and I stumbled upon this place. It had an empty table outside just waiting for me. Very large and diverse menu. Indoor and outdoor seating, and friendly, prompt service. I loved my California Cobb Salad! Very fresh ingredients and homemade ranch dressing. I love a good homemade ranch dressing! It came with cheesy toast too. Best salad I've had in a long time! Plenty of street and meter parking around. I would definitely return.

The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

Absolutely the worst…read more The place is left to be run by a bunch of un professional staff. Came to sit down and despite the place having many tables, the person by the door insisted that we have all of party present to seat us, which is understandable if they are busy but they were not even 50% full, when I said my brother was right there walking down the street, he insisted to hold his ground. Then literally 30 seconds later my brother is here, then I tell him he is right right there, he goes "ok, I will let you know when a table is ready", why not use stove common sense & say that a table is not even ready? Sounds like steering maybe because of the 4 kids ? Maybe something else? Very rude and I'm acceptable behavior. Then to add to it, turns out I was talking to the manager "Ello", who is acting in your face and challenging you more like a night club bouncer than a "manager" at a cafe....

We checked in with our party of six and were waiting to be seated. Another party of six arrived after us--nicely dressed women--and they were seated before us. When we asked why they were seated ahead of us despite checking in after us, no one could give us an explanation. We had just come from our kids' local soccer game, so we were dressed like what we were: soccer parents. We were then seated outside, in what appeared to be more of a waiting area than an actual restaurant seating area. When we asked about sitting inside, we were told we would have to wait another 40 minutes. I personally approached the hostess to ask about the seating arrangement and why the other party had been seated before us. Again, there was no explanation. I don't want to jump to conclusions or accuse anyone of discrimination based on race, age, appearance, or anything else. However, the experience genuinely felt like we were being treated differently based on how we looked or were dressed. What makes it more concerning is seeing other reviews describing similar experiences. At the very least, the seating process needs to be more transparent and consistent. If there is a reason one party is seated before another, especially when they checked in later, the staff should be able to clearly explain why. Unfortunately, that did not happen here, and it made us feel unwelcome. I wish we didn't stay, but kids we were hungry. But I won't be coming here again or recommending this restaurant.
