Avoid Secret River Dental at all cost. I immediately changed Dental provider due to the incompetence and unprofessionalism. I'm not sure if they changed staff or just under new management, but the quality of service has gone completely down hill. The last 2 appointments I had in a row were a complete waste of my time. They were supposed to do fillings and didn't both times I came here for that. The office manager is a joke and was more concerned about why I went to a different dentist to get emergency root canal that your dentist said, needed a filling. I was in pain and the tooth was bleeding and they couldn't care less. The front desk staff is unprofessional and the receptionist sand you're finished with your appointment who closed you out is a joke and laughable. I do not recommend this crap dental office. I immediately changed dental offices. If you want to be misdiagnosed, given appointments for work they won't do just to waste you time have at it. I would rate this place -1000/10 read more

I had a 10:30 AM appointment, and by 12:30 PM, I still hadn't seen the dentist. The most frustrating part was the front desk's constant lying. At 11:30 AM, I asked how much longer it would be, and they said there were 3 people ahead of me. I decided to wait. At 12:00 PM, I asked again, and the receptionist looked me in the eye and said, "You are the next one." Immediately after that, I watched FOUR other people being called in before me. None of them were me. This office has zero respect for patients' time and absolutely no integrity in how they manage their schedule. I called and set up an appointment. The person confirm my HMO insurance is accepted. I went a week later to my appointment. The secretary confirmed I'm covered. She said she's new and needs to double check. A more senior employee said I'm not covered and the previous confirmations didn't matter. They said I have PPO insurance and they'd be using that. I said I go to my good dentist for my PPO appointments and I'm using my HMO insurance here. They said PPO insurance is primary to HMO insurance, so it didn't matter. I said I worked in insurance and that's a lie. I said cancel my appointment and walked out. I lodged the complaints with my HMO and PPO insurance. If that isn't fixed, then I'll make sure to complain to the Dept Of Insurance and the Dept Of Managed Healthcare. read more

Genuinely the worst dental experience I've ever had. I only chose this place because my insurance would cover it & it's near my house. During my initial appointment I waited for a good 45 minutes before I was taken back. When I finally got to the back I still had to wait because the doctor was everywhere but where she needed to be. The hygienist did a half ass job. The actual doctor was gossiping with her staff in front of me?? They did 2 fillings on one side and not even a whole week later one came out while I was eating. I scheduled an emergency appointment and when I got there it was completely disorganized once again but I needed to relieve the discomfort asap. When I went in the back the doctor said it was impossible for the filling to have fallen out that quickly and basically blamed me. They also went forward with trying to do other fillings instead of fixing the one that they initially messed up. What really pushed me to write this though is that I was eating and another one of my fillings fell out AGAIN. There are gaps and lack of consistency (not even or flat enough which can lead to all type of health/teeth issues) in the other fillings that they did on top of the 2 that fell out. I'm so irritated. They actually deserve to be shut down entirely. Whole practice is straight malarkey. I hope nobody else gives them money. read more

Not sure what the dentist name was but it was a younger white man. He clearly did not know what he was doing, he was under a lot of duress both mentally and physically. I had to direct him as to what tooth, the pain I was experiencing, the medications, follow ups, proper treatment. He kept asking his assistant or the receptionist if she could do this and that. She was confused as well. He could clearly see the level of infection my tooth is in but he dismissed me saying I need to hang in there. What is it with these type of medi-cal dental offices? I agree with other reviews about the long wait times. It takes so long to get called back, once you're back there they do X-rays and floss then we wait hours to see a dentist. The densits comes in and polishes teeth and says we need to reschedule for a cleaning.... I'm taking my sister out of school for these appointments and for what? They are a waste of time. Not to mention all the staff have HUGE acrylic nails, that's so unhygienic. We changed dentist and were informed that the root canal done at this location was done poorly. The teeth around the root canal (healthy) teeth were shaved down to match the root canal vs the root canal matching existing teeth. Also we were shown proof of a poorly don't fill where a cavity was improperly covered. All of this was done on a teenager which makes me think it was unnecessary, I knew it was odd they kept pushing root canals on all the patients in the lobby and in the back. read more

If you have a toddler/child, don't waste your time at this dental office. I've taken my child here for the past 2.5yrs who was only receiving visuals exams by a different dentist and never had an issue until now. There were 3 families with children (including myself and daughter) waiting for their appointments towards the end of the day. My appt was at 3:45p (got there at 3:30p) and we didn't get taken back until 4pm (which appeared to be their closing time) Dr. Freeman is supposedly a new dentist at this location and it was her 1st day (it should be her last) She didn't bother to even provide a visual exam after attempted X-rays and waiting for a while to be seen. She was extremely rude. She walked into the room to see what the commotion was (kids were getting fussy) and proceeded to tell her staff that she will not see my child instead of directly addressing me. I told her I'm right here and still spoke back in a rude manner and explained her reasoning why. The office staff should've called to cancel the appointment or reschedule instead of wasting our time since It's not the 1st time that we've been seen at this location. So far I'm not impressed. My Son and I both had appointments scheduled. His was at 1pm, mine at 3pm. He didn't get in to be seen until around 1:45ish and it is now 15:36 and I have yet to be called back. The place has minimal furnishings and St Patrick's day decorations up in the lobby. It is April. I haven't heard them answer the phone once.. The staff is super nice. But my kiddo said they had him back there waiting for about 15 minutes before they did anything. It is now 3:45 and I've yet to be called back. This is a little crazy. It is now 3:56 and I still haven't been called back. No explanation. About to leave. They just called me back 3:57 tbc Update: I have never in my life experienced what I experienced here in a dentists office ever. Not only was my son taken in an hour late for his appointment but so was I. So was everyone in there I'm sure. Then I waited another 15 minutes after I got in there. Was greeted and had good conversation and banter with the dental assistant. They took 18 x-rays. They took 22 of my son. He told me when he got back there. They just flossed his teeth. And then polished them. He said when the dentist went in there he didn't talk to him at all. He talked to somebody that was standing next to him With a clipboard. They told me that he needed nine if I'm not mistaken filings and a root canal. I asked for his x-rays and they had me fill out a piece of concent form then emailed them to me. I thought it was a joke until I got back there and the same exact thing happened to me. They took x-rays (18) flossed my teeth and then proceeded to polish the teeth. They used no tools, no flushing, no mouthwash. Nothing the whole thing took about maybe 10 minutes. They did not remove tartar. They did not use any scaling tools for calculus. Nothing. I got up and I walked out to the reception area and told them that I had to leave And I asked for my x-rays to be emailed to me. The receptionist told me that Google was down. But she had my email from when she sent my sons and she would send them to me. I'm not sure if they figured out that I was irritated or figured out that I was making a review but we'll see if they send them to me. By this time it was after 5pm. Mind you my appointment was scheduled for 3:00 p.m.. and I did not get in there until 4. :00. And most of my time in office not spent in the waiting room was spent waiting in the dental chair. The polishing and the flossing took all of 15 minutes. If they charged my insurance for a cleaning, this is not accurate. Also, there's no reason for 18 to 22 x-rays for a client. New or not. This is thousands of dollars worth of x-rays that they're charging the insurance. And you're only allotted a certain amount of cleaning and a certain amount of money that is to be charged yearly. I'm calling my insurance tomorrow. To let them know that I did not and my son did not get any cleaning done. Because we didn't. Do not come here. It's scary what they're doing. I cannot imagine how many people they are doing this to. This could be considered insurance fraud. I do not recommend. I repeat DO NOT COME HERE! read more

I thought this was a great place, but... I went for a consult for a root canal. I was called in quick, but after waiting for the dentist to come in so I could ask questions he just looked at my xray and said I need a root canal. Then he rushed out to the next person! Didn't care at all. Then they have us sit in a back room to get our appt scheduled. It took over half an hour there as the office worker clicked away on her computer. We piled up in that little room. I have zero complaints for this amazing dental group, but 5 stars to give! This office has an amazing and friendly staff, they also have a very nice and clean waiting room. The previous office was very disorganized. I won't forget the time that I went up to the front desk, and the staff was picking up a ton of shredded paper on the ground? You could tell the office previously had zero professionalism. The office was a hot mess and not welcoming by any means. I'm so glad they switched ownership to this new and wonderful crew! Taisha the front desk woman was so friendly and very professional, very patient and helpful with explaining paper work and answering any questions! Dennis was our dental assistant and was amazing and so fast. He made my son feel so comfortable, as my son gets easily freaked out. I can't say enough wonderful things about this office. Kristina the front end desk assistant was wonderful and so welcoming! My daughter had an appointment and she was so friendly and they both shared some funny stories together, so sweet! The dentist, I may be pronouncing her name wrong Tolooei, was so patient and worked on my son for a filling and she was thorough and comforting. She made sure to check in with him to see if he was comfortable. Mind you, my son freaks out easily, it was so nice to see him so relaxed. Very disgusting ,receiving a bill for missing an appointment after one year. On Sept 21,2023 I was there waiting for half hour to go into the room, wait in the room for additional 15mins for scan the teeth. And received 2mins clean up time for my teeth which they didn't provide the service I was required-deep cleaning. After another more than half hour Wait, I can't wait anymore as I never expected it will need to wait so long and didn't get the cleaning service. I need to get back to work, So the tell the front desk I am done I can't wait any longer. After a year they think I have no evidence to against them so they send me the bill for missing the appointment. I am so angry that thing just like happened it yesterday. And I still have the sick leave request on our company's system. But I should have written this review right after the appointment, so I would have the strong evidence to approve I was there. If I could give this place a 0 star rating, I would. I wanted my two front teeth straightened since they were chipped at the end. I brought a referral from my orthodontist and went to schedule an appointment. They scheduled my appointment like usual. (12:50), they texted me and asked if I could come in a little sooner; I agreed. I travelled from Davis (30 minutes away) to make my appointment on time. The nurse did not come into the waiting area to get me until 45 minutes after my appointment time, and then after 1 hour and 30 minutes, I asked, "What's taking so long?" Their response is that "the doctor is busy," which is absurd because they asked me to arrive earlier, and I did, yet I was not serviced. I recognize that doctors have an important job, but it's not my concern because I have other things to do in my life. So I had to leave since I was not being serviced. Today, I went in for my actual filling, and I kept asking the nurse if what I requested for (my teeth straightened) was what I would get. They said yes with the most disrespectful attitude ever. I Let that go because maybe I was asking too many questions, and doctors know what they're doing. After the service, I checked my teeth, which looked to be the same. So I became upset. They went on to tell me that it was the orthodontist's responsibility to straighten my teeth, which irritated me even more because I'd been to the office numerous times and they said, OK, WE'LL GET YOUR TEETH STRAIGHT. They did not. If they were unable provide me with the service, they only needed to say so, and I would have gone elsewhere. A HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME. It's difficult to spend so much money coming here when I'm not getting the service I need. I have remained calm with them, but it is unacceptable. They are unprofessional and generally a poor place to work. I absolutely do not recommend. ALSO WHEN THE DOCTOR WAS RUBBING THE GEL ON MY GUM TO INJECT ME WITH THE NUMBING, HE RUBBED IT SO HARD ON MY GUM, which made it bruised. Horrible place. Rude and no empathy. read more
