It takes a lot for me to write reviews but this one deserves it. This hotel was modern and astonishingly beautiful. My boyfriend and I went to Cancun to celebrate both of our birthdays as well as our anniversary and we stayed in the honeymoon ocean front suite. This was the best hotel room we have stayed in thus far and we have traveled quite a bit. The views were breathtaking, we had a wraparound balcony which let us see everything from the ocean to the lagoon. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you are having a pleasant stay. Our room was always clean with new towels each time. When we would leave for dinner, which by the way was delicious in every single restaurant on the property, the room cleaning staff would come into the room and turn on our tv and get our bed ready for sleep. Another bonus is that it's an all adult which means it's peaceful with no kids. Definitely recommend to anyone on their honeymoon or just couples in general. Ask for Cesar, he moved from a small town by Chichén Itzá to work at the hotel. Super nice and knowledgeable guy. 12/10. read more

I spent $500 a night to stay at this resort and wanted my massage lady to come to my room to give me a massage and the hotel wouldn't allow it without paying a $150 extortion (guest) fee. I explained to them that she wouldn't be using any of the facilities and she would be in and out but it didn't matter to them. They want to force you to use their very expensive massage facilities. I told them that I was unhappy and would be writing reviews online but it didn't bother them. So if they respond with some generic message that says to contact them and they will fix the situation, don't buy it. They don't care about whether their customers are happy or not. read more

Nice hotel and amenities, but they do take advantage of you when they can. Case in point, my twin brother made a surprise visit to the hotel, and I had to pay $300 for him and his wife to hang out for a couple of hours. I didnt want to tell my brother to leave the premise, to avoid the additional fee. They should charge by the hour, not by the day, for guests visiting. read more

Just got back into the states after visiting Cancun. Abiel our waiter every morning made us feel so at home. Was definitely the star employee. The pools were clean and the Asian style dinner was on point. The sports bar could use a jukebox or music while you play pool. Over all this place was great. I gave it four stars because the only downside was the sales approach by Alfonso. He comes off a bit too pushy and doesn't like taking no for an answer. We noticed his attitude change and even looked away when walking by him in the lobby. He just didn't get it that we didn't want to spend 90 min in a sales presentation before we even got to experience the service. Perhaps they should rethink how they try to lure you back. I will most definitely consider returning the next time we go to Cancun. read more

I would give this hotel 5 stars but for two separate concerns. # 1 reason I subtracted the stars that they could have - The Hard Sell. Let me explain, you will receive an offer of 'free' services at the Hotel Spa worth $ 200 US and an additional $ 200 in coupons for extra cost dinners, or wine or spa treatments. GREAT! Oh, there's a catch. You have to be available for a 90 minute (minimally) breakfast meeting and a business offer. They will assure you that it isn't a time share offer (but it really is.) They want to talk and figure out how much your worth so they know how much they can pitch to you their unique offer of a 'not a time share' deal on their hotels. Here's my concern and it should be yours too, the 'interview' process is an intrusion into your own personal finances and you can give them honest answers or you could totally bullshit them. Point being that they are wasting your valuable vacation time so just say a firm NO to their request. # 2 reason they lost the 5th STAR. There's a funky stale water stink very often from a sink or two, and in a Wine Bar and sometimes in a hallway or two. Otherwise, this restaurants are great, the service of drinks was amazing, the pools and beach #1, the entertainment throughout the hotel organized by Pamela and Christina and others, the service from professionals like Johnathon, the service for any excursions outside of the hotel that they'll arrange.....etc, etc. By far the best hotel experience I've ever had but for those 2 points I made. read more

Came back because of luxurious accommodations, smaller grounds (make it easier to navigate), impeccable service, fun staff, numerous food options, beautiful beach, a myriad of entertainment options, and just a really wonderful place to get R & R. Awesome amenities such as mini bar and room service included. Really fun activities in the resort like cooking and mojito lessons as well as spa and kitchen tours. Also it helped that they have really approachable and genuinely friendly staff members such as Felipe and Emmanuel! And this is what I'm talking about. My husband is in the Market Cafe right now and they are serving everyone around him. I had similar experiences yesterday and the day before. Also, there is no party music at the pool in the day (people light up the few moments you do play it and then look disappointed when it's done) and there is no night life as we hear music playing on both sides of us at night from the hotels next to us. This place was nice and I've had a great time (always have a great time in Cancun), but could definitely have a MUCH better time somewhere else. Edit: OMG, So we were hanging at the pool today and at around 2:30, we start to see the chairs being picked up around us. Basically, they kicked us out of the pool area to set up for a private event. Turns out that they had 3 private events to set up for today...including one on the beach! So you basically were kicked off the beach as well. I wish someone would have told us in advance! Awesome resort. I have been blown away by the experience here. The customer service is top notch,always with a smile. They make customers feel like kings and queens. The rooms have sleek furniture and are generally well furnished. The restaurants at this resort serve a very wide variety of amazing food. It gets difficult to pick a cuisine for a meal. There are several restaurants, some if them fine dining, some of them a bit more casual. There are a couple of bars indoors n outdoors serving a wide variety of liquors. I can go on about the resort and it's goodness but it would be endless. Bottomline is this is 'the place' to get pampered like crazy and live your vacation king size. read more

This place was amazing in every way. First off, NO KIDS. I have nothing against children, but this brings the whole resort's noise level down significantly, and was an amazing thing. The rooms are incredible and there was a great view from all three rooms in our party (all in different locations on separate floors). The service was impeccable, the drinks were delicious (pro tip, its all inclusive, ask for extra booze in your mix drink), and all the restaurant options made sure you never had to leave the resort unless you had a specific excursion in mind. The transportation from the airport was comfortable and friendly, we were greeted at the door with champagne, and immediately shown to our floor. The rooms are not ready for check in until 3pm (they are not flexible on this), so if you come in early, they will take your bags for you and direct them to your room closer to that time. In the mean time you can hit the beach, a restaurant, or the multiple pools they have to offer. The room service menu is a little more hit and miss on quality in comparison to getting a dinner reservation, but the options are great. They come by and take drink orders on the beach, have a wonderful work out room (if you can take a break from the delicious food long enough to get some cardio in) with cardio machines that face floor to ceiling windows towards the beach, and have amazing (though expensive) spa services available. I was there for a wedding and the ceremony and reception was done beautifully, however, be aware that if you tie the knot on the beach you will not have full privacy. What I mean is, there was a full audience watching from the bar and pool area, even though we had a portion of the beach blocked off for our party. They will also help you book all your excursion and transportation to excursions which is nice, because you know they are legit and safe to participate in. Overall, I can't wait to return to this resort, cause I don't think paradise can get much better than this. read more

First, the good. This is a beautiful resort. The exterior, lobby, hallways, and my room were beautiful. The pools and the beach are spectacular. The staff were also very nice. However, I had a very poor experience with the food and drinks which were at best, mediocre, and at worst, gave me food poisoning ruining half my trip. I believe I got sick after eating breakfast the morning after I arrived. It would have been the eggs, fruit, or pineapple juice that caused it. My stomach felt funny all day, followed by pain, and all night I kept waking up with vomiting and gastric distress. I tried to rehydrate with juice from my mini fridge, but the fridge was broken and everything was warm. The following morning, my stomach was better, but I was extremely dehydrated. I ordered juice and toast, but the juice tasted funny and the toast was cold. I was also afraid to drink anything that wasn't bottled anymore. I went to the front desk to tell them about the food poisoning. The staff member was nice and showed concern, but wasn't really helpful. I told him I needed bottled juice, and he told me a restaurant near the lobby would have that. I went there, but they only had fresh juice. I went back to the front desk who said he would have bottled juice sent to my room. Later when I arrived, bottled juice had been delivered to my fridge, but the fridge was still broken and warm. They finally fixed it later that day. I was very careful in what I ate the rest of the trip, and didn't get sick again, but the quality of the food was almost universally poor. I usually like being adventurous with food when I travel, but the best thing I had was a mediocre vegetable pizza at the Italian restaurant. Drinks: One of the house wines was bad, and the other was ok. They had a very small selection of beers which were not good. The mixed drinks tasted funny. The coffee was burnt. Tea was lukewarm. The non-bottled sodas and fresh juices tasted bad. I ended up drinking bottled water and bottled apple juice most of the trip. Again, the place is beautiful, and I had an amazing time in the pools and on the beach before I got sick, but the food and drinks ruined the trip. When I return to Cancun, I will stay somewhere else. read more

We stayed at Secrets - The Vine in mid November for our honeymoon. I'd been to the Secrets in Puerto Vallarta 6 times so I was anxious and excited to see how The Vine compared. I can honestly say that it matched up very well. The rooms were very nice. We stayed in the junior suite. It didn't have the hot tub or garden/ocean room views that PV has but it was extremely comfortable and didn't have the slight musky smell that so many of the PV rooms do or roosters crowing from the abandoned hotel next door. Service was excellent. Caesar was our floor butler and I found him pleasant and attentive. Fernando in the Italian restaurant was very professional and pleasant but honestly all the staff was awesome. The entertainment staff (props to Jorge, Guillermo, Fernando, Raquel and our dance instructor from South America Angelay ) was a blast and the cooking class with Chef Humberto was wonderful (not something I experienced in PV). The 6 restaurants, though not necessarily traditional, were excellent. The steakhouse was one of the best I've been in and the Italian one was superb. We had multiple meals here. I very much enjoyed the Lebanese and Peruvian offerings. The swordfish at Salt Water was the only disappointing dish we came across but the whole fried fish there at lunch was sublime! Had it 3 times! The beach and water was awe inspiring! I couldn't get over the colors and lack of rocks in the water which prevail on the other coast. Activities were fun and the history and Spanish lessons were fun. Pools and drink service was great! Runners were helpful in trying new drinks but the Mexican Coca Cola with pure cane sugar is wonderful. Mojitos are excellent! Karaoke needs some help (internet buffering pausing the song) but the venue is great. Wine cellar is definitely something remarkable to see. The sports bar was great to watch sports (Viva Atalante) and weather by and large cooperated. The Vine's theme is Wine and romance; both of which are achieved. I can't recommend this place enough and I suspect my new bride and I will be back in the not too distant future! Thank you to all at The Vine for such a wonderful honeymoon. We left cancun today. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but couldn't get around the horrible food. The food in EVERY restaurant was bland and taste like cafeteria food. Room service took fooorever! & how do you mess up French fries or nachos. The hotel was beautiful, beach gorgeous, and ocean front room (#1400) had views that will take your breath away. If the food quality improves based on future reviews, we will be back for sure. It's just too hefty of a price tag to have shitty food. read more

My husband and I just returned back from our 9 day Honeymoon and we must say that we are missing the time we spent there! There are a few things to keep in mind when coming to the resort. First of all, to help you better understand a few of the negative reviews, it seems as if they are biased to directly one of the six restaurants or in something particular that seems to be coming from those who didn't do their research before booking at Secrets the Vine. The resort is in fact beautiful. Well-kept, up-to-date, chic, modern. We stayed on a the 22nd floor so we had preferred club access to the 12th floor pool- felt secluded and intimate if you just want to spend time with your loved one and relax. Please note that this is NOT a Cancun party resort. Adults only does not mean "blaring Despacito at the pool" like the Hard Rock next door (which you could totally hear if you were at the main floor pools). Those looking to have a party type time could grow envious listening to all the music from hard rock while you're at Secrets. Then again, do your research, this is a relaxing type of resort for Honeymooners, couples, and small girls trip who want to just chill. Now for food. People are hating on the food. I get it. If you're from a large city like me and have had tons of different Asian food, then Dragons is NOT the place to go to get your Asian food. Don't go if you know what Asian food usually is like. It wasn't bad just not like grandma's food. Simple as that. Just skip it and have delicious food at Sea Salt or Blue Water. Seriously, just stick with those and you'll be eating amazing food. Forget about the other restaurants, order fresh dishes, skip the market buffet, order room service for breakfast. Also side note, if you've ever had a Costco hotdog, skip the hotdogs at the resort (pool bar/late night snack options). You didn't come to Cancun to have a hotdog. The downside of the food to be honest were the desserts. They weren't bad, just not memorable. Service all around is top notch. Tip your staff. They all did a great job. Spa was fabulous. So pretty and relaxing for me and my husband. We had a couples massage and felt so refreshed and enjoyed using the amenities. Cons about the resort? It's not enjoyable hearing people in the hallway every morning by 9am. Not sure what it is about the hustle and bustle starting at 9am. Every day, right at 9am, it's like a congregating mess hall and you're just immediately awake now since you can't sleep through it. We had a hard time the first few days dealing with it since 9am is 7am for us and we wanted to sleep in. A few times I opened the door in my pj's just to see what was going on and it was a combination of the cleaning people and staff taking people on tours. Can't they just have the cleaning people quietly speak to each other as the hallway echoes? And not do tours until after 10am? 9am is just too early for us on vacation. Sorry. Another con, we wanted to eat at Sea Salt one night and sit inside. Staff stated we could not as they were only seating people outside. I'm highly allergic to insect bites so I'm usually doused in my special lotion repellent from head to toe but I had just showered and didn't want to apply my lotion just for an outdoor dinner. Just the night before I missed applying my shoulders and had received one bite so I wanted to sit inside to not be exposed. We just wanted to go to dinner and eat inside. Every time we had sat outside, we noted people sitting inside so we took note of that. However, out of all of the nights...we couldn't? I explained to the hostess that I would have to go upstairs to my room and reapply my repellent and it wouldn't be worth it so we would just eat at a restaurant inside the resort then. She called her manager and he stated "we are not seating inside, only outside"...I again explained my situation and how they've been seating people every night inside. He said "at this time, we can only seat you outside. So just have a shot of tequila and you'll forget if you have big bites". Not what we wanted to hear and we left very disappointed. A random con to the resort which may just be a culture thing but my husband was the only one addressed 99% of the time. He was always asked what to order first and he insisted the staff to take my order first every time. Same thing with ordering drinks at the pool, "what would you like sir?", "anything else for you senor?". Hello, I'm here too and I'm the one who booked everything and the room is under my credit card. Other than that, we really did have a great time. I would have loved to give a 5 star review but I had to dock off the one star for the hallway sounds EVERY morning and the accommodation to not being able to sit inside. The culture of my husband being the go-to for everything, I get it. Not my cup of tea but hey, not every person and culture are up to the idea that both parties are equal ;). read more

honestly, if it wasn't for our room assignment (location, corner room, honeymoon suite), this resort would be an easy 1-2* for us... but waking up to the unrealistically beautiful cancun ocean from the highest vantage point possible was worth every waking moment. i had stayed at le blanc before, so that bar was set pretty high, but secrets' room blows le blanc out of the water. the indoor / outdoor room with a wraparound balcony was insane, not to mention the perfect location for daily room service breakfast. now the likes: 1) room: did i mention the room was incredible? 2) room: sorry, but did i mention the room was incredible? 3) room service: via tablet was easy and convenient, though most of the time the wait was 60-80 minutes, so plan accordingly. now long list of dislikes: 1) service quality: it was extremely inconsistent. we felt like each table we witnessed (at every restaurant) had different levels of service, it was borderline aggressive... and ingenuine. 2) food quality: edible, but everything is extremely mass-produced, given that it's all inclusive, and just felt like the quality was not there. 3) drink quality: well-drinks, is there such thing as "bottom shelf?" because every cocktail with ice was NOT good. we ended up opting for beers and blended drinks to mask the low quality liquor. 4) pool setup: the property is laid lengthwise, it doesn't have much beach front real estate, so if you're planning on beach view beach chairs? better get your a** up early. 5) no restaurant reservations: their restaurants don't take reservations, so if a restaurant is popular you may have to spend time on your vacation waiting for a seat... drinking poor quality drinks. 6) "butler service": basically none, unlike what i've experienced at le blanc, where the butler was able to be found at their station 24/7/365. and did i mention that they try to up-sell you on everything? from timeshare to premium liquor. staying at the secrets most certainly felt like buying a base trim car, everything is just basic, except for our room. read more

This was my first year here and it was absolutely amazing! I am already planning for the trip next year! Couldn't have asked for better service, more friendly people, or tastier food...everything. was. PERFECT! Don't forget your tip money either, it's an absolute must that you tip! The rooms are stunning too..the beds are comfy and they've got a big screen for the late Netflix and chill nights. Entertainment every night and tasty drinks to go with it. Honestly couldn't have asked for anything better! Want to shout out Felipe and Rafael and Josue on the Entertainment team as well as Itzel, Blanca, Oliver and Odon on the wait staff! Mario and Cesar who were the main butlers on the 26th floor along with the cleaning ladies on that same floor..they always left my room spotless! Shout out to the beautiful ladies who seat you in the downstairs cafe for breakfast and for the cooks among the entire Secrets resort whose food left me wanting more! PARADISE. I loved everything about this place. The hotel and their staff were AMAZING. It's a very modern and up-scale hotel with the most attentive and friendliest staff. We were upgraded to a honey moon suite upon arrival after waiting around 20 minutes to be checked in. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay here. The food needs a little work though a lot of it was very bland but our favorite restaurant which we only went to once was the dragons Asian fusion place near the lobby. Our favorite breakfast food was the little cafe downstairs that had crossiant sandwiches which we ate pretty often with our iced americanos. I WILL BE RETURNING HOPEFULLY EVERY YEAR. read more

We absolutely loved our stay here! From the private check in, to breakfast on the balcony, to karaoke night- we had such a great time. All of the staff was incredibly friendly, especially our butlers Cesar and Mario. We loved being greeted by them whenever getting on the elevator! We were in the preferred club and highly recommend it. The infinity pool you have access to is a bit quieter than the others and the service/food at Olio is great! Each day Wilians and Santiago took care of us with buckets of water and of course mimosas! They made sure we were taken care of all day. The entertainment staff, especially Hugo were great! We loved watching the different activities they put on- especially karaoke night. The food here is outstanding! We didn't have one bad meal and probably the best Italian meal I have ever had! We enjoyed the different options and not having to make reservations was a plus. There was minimal wait at dinner and if there was there was always a bar to wait at! Can't say I was all that impressed, and I won't be back. When I arrived, I was totally wowed by the gorgeous room and the excellent reception at the preferred club. I was only staying for 2 days but my first few hours were filled with regret that I wasn't staying longer. This feeling vanished rather quickly. So service is less than stellar. Although they tell you when you check in that there are people happy to fulfill your requests, those requests will be filled extremely slowly, with varying levels of accuracy, and one at a time. So don't request coffee AND diet coke delivered to your room; at best you will get regular coke, delivered 24 hours later. We also had issues with the lighting in our room - the lights in the bathroom area weren't working properly so it was impossible for us girls to do our makeup properly. We called in the problem on the first day, but it never got fixed, meaning that we had to do our makeup in the twilight. Less than adequate service was also seen in the restaurants. You can walk into a mostly empty restaurant and still wait at least 10 minutes just to be seated. Then another 10 for drinks. Then you wait an indefinite period of time to place your order - if you are lucky, someone will wander past and you can tackle them and drag them back to force them to take your order. If you are REALLY lucky they know what they are doing and can put in your order; if Lady Luck is not on your side, you will be stuck questioning confused servers who will have no idea why on earth you are so hangry or why you expect to get food??? in a restaurant???? what are you, crazy?!?! The food is also not really a highlight. I was very disappointed by the buffet quality - it's maybe the equivalent of Carnival cruises, if that. I was also very disappointed by the food provided in the non-buffet seated restaurants - my food was typically overcooked (especially fish! it was awful!), under-seasoned, and took forever to come out. The ONLY exception was the sushi bar. We just about had to threaten the host with bodily harm to allow us to sit at the completely empty but totally adequate bar (so we didn't have to wait the quoted 30 minutes for seating in the - you guessed it - mostly empty restaurant). The sushi served to us directly from the chefs came out quickly and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. By FAR the best meal I had at Secrets - actually, let's be fair, it was the ONLY good meal I had at Secrets. We also got room service at one point, and it was just ok. The coffee they brought with the room service was criminally bad, thank goodness for the nespresso machine in our room. Drinks are weak, unless you are watching them like a hawk and ask for a generous pour. I asked for a mojito once and got vodka, crushed mint, and soda. No sugar, no lime, it was the weirdest mojito I'd ever had. One positive: the beach and pool area are cool. The views from the rooms are amazing. The rooms in general tend to be gorgeous, if you can get past the fact that something will certainly be broken and it will certainly not be fixed during your stay, then staying in the room the whole time is definitely a good way to spend your vacation. The preferred club is neat, I don't know if it's worth the money (since I didn't pay for it myself :) ) and the nespresso machine in the room is legit. We celebrated our 40th Anniversary here with a spectacular corner 24th floor room. Upon arrival we were greeted by our butler and handed champagne as we were taken to the private check in area. Very detail was covered and we were shown to our room. Gratuities are included but are optional if you feel someone's giving you extra good service. I would have dropped it to four stars due to all the sales pitches for timeshares, but everything else about this place outweighed it. Restaurants are outstanding and love the "no reservation" policy. I also appreciate the dress codes for the evening dining and making no exceptions. All the food is upscale and lends itself to various regions. Service is top notch and you never felt slighted. Highly recommend the premium upgrade that gives you access to the private pool with gourmet food served from the restaurant that shares the same deck, private bar with appetizers, premium alcohol and over the top service. Beach is beautiful and they keep the seaweed off! We will definitely go back and will recommend to friends. read more

This was mine and my husbands first big trip out of the country together and we were completely blown away. The whole resort was so spacious and open. It was so clean and there was always a staff member nearby to assist you with anything that you needed. We tried all of the restaurants at least once and were impressed with most of the food we had. We were partial to the sea salt grill though, their seared ahi was incredible and the asparagus soup with was the best I've ever had. We will definitely consider this exact resort with planing another trip like this in the future and highly recommend it to everyone who has asked us about it. read more

I'm honestly so sad. This started off being the best vacation, but service is inconsistent. People are kind and very helpful except when you actually start having important issues. First of all, the place is beautiful. Building is modern and well-mantained. We are here during spring break and we didn't notice any young people partying or anything of the sort. It's very intimate, romantic and overall very relaxing. The beach is beautiful and you can tell they take good care of it. Pools are nice. Outdoor jacuzzi by the pool is either freezing or boiling hot. No in between. Floors are also very harsh and I would advise wearing water shoes as it literally hurts your feet. We booked through a travel agency (prepaid) and despite requesting a high room, we got the lowest one. No biggie though. We got room 1001, which is an honeymoon oceanfront suite. Phone was broken, buttons wouldn't work. We asked for them to fix it for days and no one came. Every call we made had to be from the bathroom. Food is decent, but not amazing. We liked the pizza at Nebbiolo, the Italian restaurant, and the hidden gem for us was the Sugar Reef bar + Barefoot Grill combo. At Sugar Reef, both Mike and Ismael are amazing bartenders and they will make any crazy drink you request, all with a smile in their face. Barefoot Grill has really good food, like quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, nachos. We found ourselves eating very frequently there for lunch because in our opinion it was the better option. The market was okay. They have a wide variety of options. We prefer room service for breakfast because everything feels fresher in comparison to the buffet. Dinner was average at most places. Seasalt has Peruvian food and it honestly sucks. Dragons has ok food, we enjoyed the japchae and the pad thai and we got wonton and dumplings for starters which were very good. Nebbiolo, like I said, has great pizza (better than the room service counterpart despite being literally the same pizza), but that's pretty much it. This is our last night and we are going to try Bluewater but I don't have high expectations. We got $200 in coupons to use towards several different thing but they only work as discounts - You can only get a maximum of $40 (for a spa treatment) and $10 for wine bottles, for example. We decided to use all of them in a room upgrade (they take the whole $200 for a max of 50% discount in said upgrade). Big mistake. First of all, Pablo, the receptionist, told us we were getting the exact same room but in the highest floor (28), with a panoramic view which would let us see both the ocean and the lagoon. I assumed this meant we had a broader view because of the height - Since our room is a corner one, the balcony goes all around it, and at floor 10 the lagoon is covered by the hotel in itself. The difference we had to pay was $410 - Only the fee for the Preferred Club. I was okay with this and paid upfront as I do not like to use credit cards. The problem is that Pablo turned things around and never told me he was "upselling" me to a lower room category. This was honestly disgusting. His "panoramic room" was just an ocean view room, which is of course a lower, cheaper category of room than the one I was staying at. When confronted, he said "he had told me it was a panoramic view" when he could've just told me it was an ocean view room, as that was what it's advertised as in the website. There is no "panoramic room", only oceanfront and ocean view, therefore he was lying to me. Why would I pay for an "upgrade" to a lower category? It literally makes no sense. I requested a refund and they were okay with it, returning me to the room I was in before. I don't remember the name of the night time receptionist (as Pablo is only there in the mornings and noon), but he handled it amazingly. For their mistake, he moved us to room 1701, which is a much higher room than the one we were staying at, and still processed the refund. We were happy with the change because that would mean a functioning phone. But the thing that bothered me the most happened today. We ordered room service for breakfast, and I tried to open the strawberry jam (which is small), but it was broken and it literally tore my finger open. It is one thing to overlook a broken jam, but, when I called to request bandages, explaining what happened, the person picking up the phone showed no concern or offered no apology. We waited for 20 minutes and a maid came with a new set of jams instead of offering assistance..? Didn't apologize either. I had stopped the bleeding by then, and the first aid guy came after. He cleaned my wound and bandaged me, but didn't apologize either. Honestly, there are lots of good things about this hotel. But since customer service tends to be poor when you have an actual issue, I would advise staying somewhere else. It's a shame, because the hotel in itself is beautiful. read more

Where do I start with this place?? It was AMAZING! The staff is so welcoming and helpful, and they're always so nice. They truly go above and beyond and strive to make your stay as great as it can be. The food is delicious no matter where you go. The drinks are great, and there's no crazy bar line to go get one. There's always a server available to bring you anything you want. The pools are clean, the rooms are too and they all have a great view. This is the place to come if you want a romantic, relaxing getaway. There's always a fun event going on, dancing at night, or you can just hang out on your balcony. I can't say enough about what a great time we had here. We're already booking our return for later this year. read more

Only complaint was the food, good but could have been better. No 24 hr buffet and the main restaurants were hit or miss. The Mediterranean I'd give a B, the Asian a B- the steak house a B+, room service a B-, and the outside food buffet a C+. The bars had good atmospheres and drinks. Only complaint is no swim-up bar. Let me start by saying I love this resort. It's very relaxing and beautiful. I loved my view overlooking the water and the intracoastal. Maid and wait service is excellent. Everything being all inclusive is convenient. The entire staff speaks good English. The concierges are helpful. (Go to Explor! Great time) I suggest Market Cafe's buffet (Luis Evelyn the server was excellent). Delicious. Wasn't a fan of the Bluewater Grill. Room service is good and 24 hours. However, upon arrival I paid more money for the preferred club. Going to that private pool, no one even checked my room card... I could have went without being on club level. It was also never communicated where the lounge, etc. other perks were. So basically I upgraded for no reason. Also when I booked my hotel ticket I was told I received a $200 credit yet no one at check in told me anything about this. Also, when leaving you need to reserve a shuttle to the airport 24 hours prior. No one communicated this with me. So while I'm checking out I have a bellman grabbing my bags calling a taxi ($30 dollars plus ATM international fees plus tip verse $12 shuttle plus tip telling me that I had to reserve a shuttle. He was rushing me so I couldn't even google the alternatives like the company I took to get to the airport or Uber. This was very unaccommodating. 1) Guests should be advised on airport transport 2) You're rushing me 3) They were not being helpful or the least bit concerned that I was unhappy Secrets would have got 5 stars if it wasn't for the bellmen and their "preferred club" I however DO recommend this hotel and would stay again. read more

I know this review is better late than never, but this all inclusive was absolutely amazing. My friend went here with her boyfriend early last year and I think saw her photos and wanted to go. My husband and I booked our honeymoon at this all inclusive back in September 2016. The experience started off wonderful. After getting out of our bus and walking into the hotel doors we were greeted at the door and handed a glass of champagne. We then checked into to our room. This is where the experience took a Whaley start, we were asked to upgrade our room to additional cost which after we turned down the upgrade, the upgraded us anyways to the honeymoon suite. Then they took us to a table and tried to upsell us on some other packages. We then ended up agreeing to go to brake fast a few days later to listen to a package deal which they stated would only take 90 minutes. We agreed to the 90 minutes discussion as we were promised a free dinner on the beach for listening to the "special offer". When this took place they tried talking us into a timeshare. We were very nice and politely tried to turn them down " stating we were newly weds and could not afford it at this time in our life." They did not like hearing this and got very rude. We did end up getting our dinner on the beach though as promised. Once this bump in road was out of the way the rest of the experience here was amazing. The buffet breakfast served everyone was also so amazing. The food within the whole resort was spectacular. The first night we dined at the the hotel we ate at an Asian restaurant. There were also at least 6 other restaurants to choose from. The food was always very fresh and taste so good! The atmosphere of the hotel was also quite wonderful. When we first walked into our room there were rose petals on the bed and on the floor. There was also a bottle of Champaign waiting for us. The room was quite large and very clean. There was lots of closet space to put your things, which I do not usually use, but since we were on our vacation for 8 days I definitely took advantage of the closets. The fridge was always fully stocked with beer, water and snacks. You also got cute complimentary mini bottles of liquor. Each floor also had their own floor attendant. We had Daniel as ours, and he was absolutely amazing! He was always so friendly and welcoming every time we saw him. If we ever needed anything, he would be there to help us out. The pools and beach were also kept very clean and there was plenty of chairs for laying out. The staff at the pool and beach were also great too! They were always right behind you when you were getting ready to sit down, bringing you a towel and taking your drink order. Then there were the activities. Each day they had a list of activities going on at the hotel. My husband and I did a tequila tasting, which was very interest and insightful. The lady teaching the class was very knowledgeable and had a really upbeat and friendly personality. Then we did a wine tasting, which was also a lot of fun to. Each night there was an event in the ballroom where we went and watched a comedic magician,, which was very entertaining. A couple of other nights they had bands come and play, and a DJ. We also went to a Casino night, which was also a lot of fun and gave us a chance to mingle with other guests staying at the hotel. Although our stay was a little rocky at the beginning I would definitely recommend this all inclusive to anyone. My husband and I will definitely be coming back soon! read more

We were invited to this resort by a Cheap Caribbean representative. We went there yesterday. We were told that it would only take 90 minutes of our time, and there would be a NO OBLIGATION sales presentation by the representative at the hotel. Now, we travel A LOT and we travel to Cancun 3-4 times a year. So, we took this opportunity to visit Secrets the Vine, to see if this would be a resort we would like to book for our next vacation. Long story short, we ended up spending close to 3 hours because once we said NO to the package they were offering, they kept tossing us from one person to next. Just wouldn't understand the meaning of NO. And, the managers' attitude COMPLETELY changed when we said no to the package. He was rude and not friendly anymore and seemed very pissed that we said no. We were promised a breakfast, which was never offered to us - which didn't matter because didn't care for the breakfast since we'd already eaten at our resort (Paradisus Cancun) before we went there. We were there just to see the resort and plan for our next vacation. The resort was okay. It's a tall building, modern but small. The swimming pools were small. Our rep was Luis, who was super nice and gave us a really nice tour. At this point, we had actually told him that we won't buy the package but we'd try the resort for our next vacation. But his manager's attitude changed things for us. He started down-talking and pretty much told us that we may not be able to afford a diamond resort. After dealing with the manager's attitude, we were transferred to someone who would "close" things up for us and would only take a few minutes. We ended up spending 30 minutes with him and then when we still said no, his attitude changed to crap as well. I will NEVER visit such a place where people treat customers differently, based on whether they buy from you or not. I felt the need to write this review so others know what happens when you say NO to the representatives of this hotel. This has never happened to me at other resorts but it seemed like the culture of this brand because two people had the same exact attitude after we said No. They acted like we were there for free food. Really? We're staying at an all-inclusive resort with GREAT food and service. We didn't even give a crap about your food. You may be a diamond resort but with this crappy attitude, you are never earning my business. I stayed at the Now Resorts during my past 2 vacations but would not return because that's part of the Secrets resorts as well and you've lost us as customers for all your properties. I have stayed at Paradisus Cancun 3 times in the past 18 months and wouldn't think twice before returning here again! read more

The hotel hype is not what it seemed to be. Food here is mediocre. They will charge extra if you have an allergy to nuts at the spa. If you want a spot down by the pools you better get up at 6am. It's first come. Don't forget to come with the right change. The hotel front desk will not have any. Tried to break a $100 bill and they said they didn't have any change. Hmmmm. I mean really come on. Most taxi ride from the hotel to pretty much any where is $11. USD. If your looking to do any sort of fun pool activity your going to be disappointed. Everyone looks like a bobber in the water trying to stay cooled off. Oh bring water shoes as the pool bottom is very ruff on the feet. Breakfast are buffet guys must where at least a tee shirt and females can where whatever they want. The beds in the rooms are very soft so if you have a bad back like me. Beware. The mini bar is water beer and pop. And there is supposed to be snack in the room and some have them and some don't. The out door bar tenders and staff are pretty fast and getting you a drink and food. There is no swim up bar at any of the pools. So you must get out of the water to get a drink or wait until one of the servers are available. The balconies are not private at all as the neighbors to the left and right of you have full view of you if your trying to chill out. I have 2 days left here so I will leave this review open until I leave. Kinda disappointed so far. read more
