AVOID THIS MOVING COMPANY…read more **POST MOVE UPDATE: the company got back to me and offered me a $100 credit due to their lack of customer service. I decided to go with the company because I really believe in second chances and an all for small business prospering. I was absolutely WRONG to do so. The day started out okay. Three young men came with a truck and they started working. My husband and I supervised them to our best extent without getting in their way. We successfully packed the van and arrived at the new apartment. Once we arrived, I realized some of the pieces of furniture arrived scratched. Not little tiny surface scratches, but FULL on indents into the wood or pieces of the furniture cracking. Now I would kind it so much if they were old, but I literally purchased all these pieces in the past seven months. One of my dining room chairs had a scratch in it, my chest had chips where they carelessly couldn't put the drawers back in, the tv stand foot is cracking, my new dresser that I literally got in December/January has a broken piece (thankfully Macy's is sending a service technician), and the boys carried my mattress by the cover which ripped and is now dirty (found this out they left). I was most concerned with my wood pieces since it's hard to replace, my new dresser alone was over $500. I let the "lead" boy know, his name was Samson and he called his boss but didn't say anything, charged us, and left. I emailed the company with a follow up statement, they asked for pictures. I sent the ones I took, and SILENCE. I finally called today to follow up and spoke with Kyle. He told me their manager tried to call but I didn't pick up. No one bothered to leave a voicemail or send me an email. Kyle told me my options were a credit of $100 or sending a handyman out to fix the damages. Uh what? I declined the credit before ONLY to be offered $100 for you to damage my household goods?? I asked to speak to the manager and he said he wasn't available. I called back to see if he was available and they declined my call or let it go to voicemail. I've attached pictures of the damage AND my phone call receipts. Absolutely DO NOT use this company to move. If you're here on their yelp page, leave. Trust me, they are not trustworthy. They also falsely advertise military discounts, my husband andI paid OVER $500 for the move. I have never dealt with such a TERRIBLE business. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General of Virginia-Consumer Protection. *UPDATE: After writing this review, I was contacted by Kyle and he explained the process to me (which I would have explained that I already knew). I will up the review one star for the promptness of quality control. However, he said that there was no record of me calling, so I'm attaching a screenshot of my attempts. All calls over five seconds were when someone in the facility picked up, said "hello, thank you for calling," and when I started to speak, they promptly hung up. Please don't get me wrong, I am all for small businesses prospering, but as someone who comes from a family that owns a small business, and has worked and managed it for over ten years, I also know that customer service is the cornerstone and foundation. I really hope this gives some insight into how the business is run and managed. ****** This review is based solely on just a business etiquette, I have not used the company. I need to move out of our current place in about a week and I've been super stressed and anxious since we've moved out here about seven months ago and the military moved us. I found this company on Yelp with great ratings and was super ecstatic. However, I am absolutely disappointed with the customer service I have gotten from this company. I i messaged them on Yelp inquiring about their services because my husband and I need to move soon. They responded in a timely manner, but when I tried to ask them about the time on the day of my move, silence. So I called them three times over the phone and they answered...but hung up on me. If you can't do the work and we've been communicating, a simple "we won't be able to accommodate your time" is the proper way to go about the situation, wouldn't you think? I was really hopeful about this company since there were so many great yelp reviews (and I live, love, and breathe by Yelp), but I'm so disappointed. I would no doubt give this company NEGATIVE stars if I could. I would definitely NOT recommend contacting this company if you plan on moving anytime soon. Extremely rude and unprofessional.

They said they waited 15 minutes, even though I had the times of the calls on my phone. That would have been fine, things like this happen, but they were angry and blamed me and told me I would have to make an appointment on another day. When they finally did come they fined me for stains on some the boxes. YIKES, it would have been cheaper to just buy boxes and then throw them out. I was just trying to be green. I'll never do that again.

NIGHTMARE MOVING EXPERIENCE: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. In…read moreOver 40 Years Of Living, I Have Never Experienced Such Terrible Customer Dis-Service. I hired 'This Is How We Move It LLC' to move my stuff from my old apartment to my new apartment which is an hour's drive from the old one. My original schedule was for them to arrive between 1000 and 1100 hours but the manager, Kat, changed that to between 1400 and 1600 hours; I said fine. On the day of the move the movers did not arrive until 1928 hours. As the driver entered and introduced himself, I could help but say 'wow you guys are late'. Those words turned out to be significant as the night unfolded. As soon as the driver and his partner got to the new apartment, he flipped completely. He got out of the truck and said I would be charged additional fees, and that I had been treating him badly since he arrived. I asked how I treated him badly and he said I told him he was late. I was ...SHOCKED. I asked if as a customer, I didn't have the right to be upset about their being late. Then he started cussing me out, calling me dickhead, mfer, and telling me I had no choice but to pay for his time as long as it took him, or he would leave with my stuff. That last part, he kept reiterating over and over, that he would leave with my stuff. He then said he was annoyed and because of that, he was taking a 15-minute break which I would pay for. He then tried to instigate his partner to do the same but that guy refused. I asked his manager about this and she said I would have to pay it - even though this was not on the contract. It seemed like they were both co-operating to fleece me. It did seem like once he saw the new place I was moving into, he thought 'this guy can afford this place, he can certainly afford to pay more'; hence him starting a disagreement over nothing so he could so he could justify a reason for him to be nasty and confrontational. He kept saying over and over that he would take my stiff away. At some point, while unwrapping one of the items, he flung the wrapping blanket just so that it hit me. He was spoiling for a fight so he could have an excuse to take my stuff away, so they could charge me for storage and redelivery. Instead, I texted his 'manager' Kat about his conduct. To my surprise, this woman was defending the driver while minimizing my complaints. She actually told me that I had to pay for his break even though that was not in our contract, nor was the additional $248 both of them told me I would be billed. I called the cops, and this guy all the while kept reiterating that he would take my stuff away. The cops eventually left after telling me to call them again if things escalated. The manager sent me an additional invoice for $700 before they would continue unloading and charged my cards. My stuff was basically held to ransom so of course I had to pay. Afterwards, I told his manager I would sue their company for harassment if he continued threatening to take my stuff away and cussing me out in my own home. After that he tried to be friendly and gave some psudo-smiles; I wasn't interested. After dealing with his shenanigans for about 4 hours, as they were about to leave, I saw they did not re-assemble my items like they were supposed. I asked about it and this guy had the nerve to tell me to ask him nicely. He told me he would be doing me a favor by assembling it! Y'all, can you imagine someone telling you, a paying customer, that? And because I was recording, he was attempting to gaslight me and pretend he had never been a problem that night. MY TAKE AWAY: This company is desperate to fleece you for as much as they can. That driver is someone who has nothing to lose. People like that can do anything and run away! He was certainly eager to take my stuff away, and I wonder why. Consider the ramifications of inviting such a person into your home if you hire this company - someone who is so criminally inclined as to verbally assault and harass their paying customer. I am sure this is an experience I would have loved to miss.

Overview: Had a wonderful experience yesterday with this…read moremoving team. Had 4 movers at a very competitive price who were willing to move my husband and I out of two apartments and into our new house. They were kind and considerate of our home, and worked very quickly and efficiently. This team was excellent to work with, and Daniel was very communicative of any questions we had before, during, or after our move. They even removed trash for us and set us up with local cleaners to do a move out clean and carpet clean of our apartments for a great price. Can't recommend them enough! -- Setting up the move: I reached out through Yelp and they were extremely communicative there, answering all my questions and following up on my timeline. We did a final discussion over the phone before scheduling the move. Daniel was open to discussing pricing and adjusting the size of the team accordingly. He estimated around 6 hours for this move all in, and the final timing was 5.5 hours from the time they left their warehouse until they returned to it, so his estimate was very accurate! One small thing - I never received a confirmation email for their services ahead of time, which I had asked for, but Daniel was great about keeping in touch over text and made sure to respond to my confirmation about a week and a half before, and then send a text to confirm a few days before as well as the day before. So this is a very small complaint, and realistically wasn't something I needed to worry about! So just a heads up to expect communication by phone/text -- they will absolutely follow through! -- Moving day: They were able to move us out of our two 900 sq ft and 700 sq ft apartments in a little under 2hrs. Once they arrived at the new house, it took around an hour to move everything in. (To note we had mostly boxes and very little furniture, but was still much faster than I expected!) Each of the 4 team members was extremely courteous and very respectful of our home. I stood by the truck to let them know what rooms to put things in and they followed all the instructions to a T. We had a lot of boxes and trash from new purchases in our basement, including a huge 85" tv box, and they took all of it for us and loaded it into their truck after moving in our things. Was a small fee for taking the trash and was a huge help for us. We didn't know ahead of time we would need this service, and the team was flexible with us and agreed to this day of, which was exactly what we needed! -- After move: Daniel had set me up with a local mover to do a move out clean and carpet clean on one of our apartments, and he made sure to follow up to make sure I was able to get in contact with the cleaners and that they did a good job afterwards. Was a huge help to be able to set this up in one go and was very appreciative of the follow up! (Also the cleaners did a great job and were flexible with our schedule!) -- Final thoughts: This was an excellent company whose team did a great job and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone moving in this area. We will likely use them again in the future due to the quality of our experience yesterday. Their prices were extremely fair and they are willing to work within your budget to make sure you get the move you need for the price that works for you. They are flexible in their services, and do everything from packing and moving to junk removal and cleaning services, and are truly a one stop shop for all your moving needs.
