I've been with this storage company for about a year now, and have consistently been impressed with their customer service and overall level of cleanliness. A few days ago, I wanted to upgrade my unit which requires an in-person visit. The wonderful woman who helped me, Amelia, was a pleasure to work with - incredibly friendly, professional, polite, and meticulous. In terms of the units themselves and the area where they're located: My units have both been in the basement area, which is clean and well-lit. Halls are spacious. The parking area is a bit small in the basement area, but there is an elevator from the main floor/parking lot if no spaces can be found underground. Carts can be a little hard to find sometimes, so if you have your own I recommend bringing it for convenience. Yes, there are rodent traps in the hallways because it's nearly impossible to keep vermin out of a space this size - it will be an issue with any indoors facility and most outdoors ones, as well. When I was emptying out my original unit, I found quite a lot of mouse droppings on the floor, but because I had everything in plastic tubs, there wasn't any issue there for me. I expect there to be rodents in just about any facility that's not insanely overpriced. Keep valuable/soft items off the ground, use common sense. There is a community of homeless people nearby, but the facility is gated and code-locked; I have never felt unsafe or intruded upon. It's not the storage facility's job (nor is it even legal for them) to police the homeless nearby. I've been very happy and plan to continue using their service. read more

The folks who worked here were nice people and very helpful. The only issue I had was that the space I rented had a pillar in it, about a foot and a half in diameter, so I wasn't really getting the full size of the space I had paid for. Luckily, all the things I needed to store for our move was able to fit in the storage with some stacking. I'd appreciate it if All American would let customers know if there's impediments in their storage in the future. There's temporary parking in the the storage area, underground, for loading and unloading. There are also carts available for use as well, which is definitely handy, because the storage area is cavernous. Also, there isn't any air conditioning in the storage area, just fans because of electrical use (I believe that's what one employee told me.), so it can get hot and humid down there in the summer months. The location of the storage space is also pretty convenient, as it is near SDSU. The storage space is open and closed by certain hours, so there isn't 24hr access to your stuff. Other than that, the site seems pretty secure. read more

Buyer beware. I went to put some items into my storage to find out there was a flood 24 hours earlier. Management does not notify you if there's a flood I was told there be an email going out five days later and I still haven't been notified that there was a flood. Some of my items were damaged with water. But here's the kicker after reading the the protection plan that I pay $11 a month for, it does not cover any type of flooding. What a scam. I was told that over half the units in the storage were flooded due to an accident by the city. Long story short this place will take your money but if something happens like fire or flood who knows if they will even notify you. Supposedly the lawyers have to look at the email and I guess they are really busy. I would not store anything of value in all American storage. read more

TL;DR -- Flooding, rodents, slow elevators, unresponsive management. I give two stars because they do in fact offer secure storage spaces... the minimum expectation. But there are definitely problems. For example, apparently the facility had a flood last winter. I discovered this in the spring when I went in to dig up some of my stuff and found water-damaged items. I went to the office, where they claimed that they had notified customers by both mail and email about the flood. However, I never received either one. The manager seemed pretty unsympathetic and didn't offer anything in the way of solutions going forward. They did provide a claim form for compensation for damage to items, but it sounds like from reading other reviews here that it's basically a runaround. I'll update this review if they do make good on it. Also: The place is infested with rodents, which poop everywhere and chew into boxes; The storage levels are subterranean and the humidity down there is pretty high; The elevators are brutally slow, and one of the two of them has been out of service for months (unacknowledged by management); Substantial price hikes come randomly and with little warning; There's a shriek siren by the elevator outside that I think is for scaring away pigeons, but it is incredibly loud and piercing to the ears while you wait forever for the elevator to arrive. It's not pleasant. You can be sure that soon enough one of their customer service reps will respond to this review, explaining how I'm wrong and why nothing is their fault (the flood was the city's fault, not theirs, etc.). They seem to value future business over existing paying customers. Once they've got your money, don't expect a whole lot from them. The company seems to be a bit of a slumlord. read more

Great storage units. I needed one for a month and i got the perfect one. The prices are a little expensive but it is very secure. Cameras everywhere and units are undergrown. Service is outstanding. Mayra was amazing and help me with the whole process of getting the storage and then leaving it. They offer everything you need and more. I contacted this place with caution, since there are reviews on Yelp complaining about prices being raised without any written communication. I asked the attendant, Brandon, about a space and he offered a storage unit that is sized 6x14 for $181/month, I then asked for a written agreement on the price he proposed and he refused to put it in writing; I asked for the manager and he affirmed he was the manager and they never given any written agreements to people in his year and a half of working at the place, he seemed pretty sure he was in the right; I explained that that was strange not having a set price or a promise of being communicated when the prices would go up, he insisted that they would send a letter 30 prior, but how can I believe him, if that is the main complain of unsatisfied clients? Don't use this company until they revise their policy, or pay the price. I know I won't. read more

I wish I could select 0 stars. After using this storage unit for 1 year with relatively no problems I thought I would use them again for the 2020 summer. I was extremely disappointed when I found that my stuff was water damaged and infested with rat feces when it was time to take out my stuff. I filed a claim with them and still haven't heard back about my claim more than A YEAR LATER. I was in contact with Tim who was not helpful at all as his emails reminded me that my claim would take 4-6 weeks to process, however, once that time passed and I would follow up, I didn't receive any response. I filed my claim in August, didn't hear anything until I emailed them in November which was when I received the "4-6 weeks" bullshit, and now it's been 34 weeks since then. Quick Google search tells me this is illegal so I would not recommend storing your stuff here (especially for its price). read more

Carlos went above and beyond to make sure I got my keys back after they jumped out of my girlfriend's pocket and down the elevator shaft when we were moving out. He did everything he could to retrieve them while we were moving, and after exhausting all options, he scheduled the elevator company to come out and get them. By the time the elevator company got my keys, I had moved across the continent. Carlos, using his own money, sent my keys to me! I feel like it is very rare when anyone goes above and beyond anymore, and actually treats you the way you would want to be treated. Kudos to Carlos! I love this place not because of the facility but because of the staff. I drove into town after 500 miles and the place I had reserved did not have a space for me after all. I called All American and spoke to Mike and he said it was getting late and they would be closing soon but to come on by anyway. He gave me a great deal and even helped out with the move. Mike is the bomb and always has a smile on his face...great guy. The only reason it did not give this place 5 stars is that I was on the lower level and you have to use the elevator and can't drive to that lower level. I would advise to if you use them to ask for the upper level of the facility. read more

First...Employee Ginsele Favor is a good employee, and was pleasant on the phone after we connected and chatted further. Now here is where I blow your Storage Facility up...Zero Stars. I have a unit, have had it since 2010. Paid automatically, on time every month. When my debit card expired I was harassed like they were a debt collector, and tacked on BOTH a late fee, AND a first Lien letter fee. Really annoying. I called..got the late fee waived since I had NEVER been late. Then when my assistant paid the invoice 3 days later, the Late Fee was NOT waived....AND a 2nd "First Lien Letter" was issued. I guess the storage business is a debt collection business, and God forbid your debit card expires. Really not a pleasant interaction. I am too busy in my career to even write this review, but I had to make it known their policy. Evidently, 80 people per month are late, so they have to just make those calls. I get it...people need to pay their bills. I would just encourage management to be cautious about who they call to harass...as I am the kind of guy to pay for the next 5 years in advance just so you never bug me again...but now I am wondering why do I own a home downtown and have a storage unit in the College Area?? read more

Move in was easy site manager very friendly. Move out was miserable. I felt like I rented from the devil. Place is clean and no issues. Area is sketchy so don't leave anything unattended. Main issues was at move out we were treated like we were doing something wrong. Staff was ambivalent and unfriendly. Elevators are primary access as facility is underground. Elevator doors are somewhat on small side and loading a queen size mattress proved difficult. Facility shuts down at 645pm so don't use if need to come in the evenings. read more

I helped my uncle moved because he was transferred by his company to a new district which happened to be around this area. We needed a storage unit and since i've rented and used storage before, i was asked to get one for him. The office manager helped me and showed me the perfect size i needed and offered me a move-in special knowing we might end up needing the space for a while. Usual paperwork had to be done but the person explained it well and was very courteous the whole time. Affordable price, nice managers and clean facility. Thats all i needed, and frankly, if you need anything else than that, you should buy a bigger house and store everything at your own place. I would definitely refer people to this place. read more

I have rented from All American for a year. I had a promotion that lasted for several months. As expected I knew the price would go up after the promotion ended. However, that was not the only time the price on my unit went up. It would be nice to get a heads up when there a price increase. I did not receive any notices. Be sure to give a 7 day notice so if your fee can be prorated. They will not refund your money. My experience was okay but you're better off going somewhere else where you get more for your money. read more

they have a "serious f***ing rat infestation" and they "refuse" to fix it! our valuables were damaged(the f***ing rats chewed up our stuff & left a s***load of rat droppings) and had to be thrown away! they "still" refused to fix the "f***ing" rat infestation! to make things "even f***ing worse, their rent keeps going up!" don't use them: their facility is a "biohazard" & a threat to public health & safety! the health department should make them close down their facility! it's "that" bad: the storage rooms are underground & semi-open(not secure), a welcome call for rats! i "knew" this facility was a "very bad choice" when i saw all the rat traps! they don't help at all! i repeat, "don't use this facility!!! read more

This place was really not to my liking. In this subterranean location to store your personal items, the smell was distasteful, it was dank and moist, and I saw lots of small roaches. Even saw what we thought may have been some people either living or lurking down there. We bought boxes for our move they smelled horribly. Let's hope the owners do something to remedy this place. I highly DO NOT recommend All American Self Storage. The customer service I received as a new customer was absolutely terrible. The website and advertisements say "use one of our free move-in trucks", yet this was a horrible experience for me. I needed the truck at the end of June to move into the storage unit. I was given a the same exact reworded answers numerous times to deflect me actually receiving a move out truck. Week after week, I was told I would be put on the waiting list. I was told they will ask the manager about scheduling. But because they never asked, I was told I need to ask the manager myself. Then I was told the truck was out of service. Because I was not able to use the truck to move-in to the storage unit, I was falsely told I could use the truck to move-out into my apartment at the end of July. After constantly asking about this truck, I was then told that the waiting list was full. Then why was I not informed of this from square one? After countless times of attempting to schedule a truck, it never fell through and I did not receive the free moving truck. I was told I can receive compensation for the truck but that was again denied. My storage unit ceiling was leaking after one single night of rain. Thankfully I was still moving my belongings in so I caught in time. After notifying the front office, they allowed me to switch to a different unit. However I had to move all of my heavy furniture and belongings all by myself. I received neither help nor compensation. I was told I can make a claim for the damages but there is nothing else they could do apparently. An excuse I was often provided with was that this facility is going through a staff transition. Regardless, I should not be receiving such poor quality customer service. I am thoroughly dissatisfied and beyond tired of having to deal with this management. This was a terrible moving experience. This was a waste of time, money, and effort. read more

For many, many months, the access gate to the storage units had been broken and left open during business hours. Unfortunately, this had allowed homeless and others to wander and has also led to increased trash and associated smells. Yesterday, I spoke directly with the manager who gave me mostly lip service about needing corporate approval (after some 3-4 months) before the gates can be repaired and assured me that no one wanders around as they monitor cameras. For what it's worth, cameras are to the back of the employees. Today, after seeing a significant amount of trash that's been there for days, I went to the office to ask for a corporate name and number to call. The attendant working stated he could not give me that number. He also tells me that it's not his job to pick up trash when he makes his twice daily rounds. Attendant raised his voice while talking with me, probably out of frustration as I'm sure this isn't the first he's head this. Currently a filthy, filthy property that management doesn't seem to care about fixing. read more
