No calls back after leaving VM messages to set up appointment. There is always an issue of this…read moreplace being short-staffed. Rude and antagonistic front desk staff who then gaslight you and accuse you of being rude. Very defensive when asked about fees for visits and services. The Vet is rude and aggressive ! I believe they nickel and dime you there and I had taken 3 of my pets there over the last few years. Today was the end to supporting this business when the Dr. Decided to come out and aggressively confront me on their so-called discounted "brief wellness exam" when all I needed was a Rabies vaccine! I supposedly had an appointment at 3:45 pm however "another lady obviously got precedence who had an emergency with her cat"....ok, I was patient and didn't say a word! So at 4:10 pm the Dr comes out from the back and without acknowledging me as one of her customers, she laid into me "in front of her staff and another customer in the waiting area"....which stemmed from her front desk staff alleging I was rude and abusive in the phone call related to setting up this appointment! (During that phone call, I had shared my frustration in no one calling me back after I had left a VM 2 weeks ago and then I had asked were there any additional fees for bringing my pup in for her Rabies Vaccination? I was just trying to find out what the complete charge would be...after talking to one gal, another came on the line and accused me of being rude "because she responded to every voicemail..."...I was shocked by her tone and aggressiveness. Basically that was the end of the call to with my confirming the last appointment they had available on Friday, would be mine.") Sooo, when the Dr came out and started lecturing me on their discounted "wellness visit"... I just nodded affirmatively to what she said, but this seemed to trigger her more as she started yelling "and you can find a better fit after this!". I literally was scared of how volatile she became as I was shocked and nonverbal during her attack on me. She then yelled after walking away from me "you can go ahead and leave if you don't want to stay!". I did respond at this point and told her "No I've waited 25 minutes so I want to get her Rabies done"... (I had been told previously on the phone the reason they charge a brief exam fee was because under AZ law the Vet has to be present) Okkkkk, but then after all of this, the tech (who was actually very nice the entire time with me) asked to release my dog so she could take her back without me... I was firm about wanting to be with her, that she was already traumatized with being there on her 2nd visit to this clinic... And I was then told "I would then have to pay the full exam price!"if I was allowed to go back with my dog! Whatttt!?? I was now upset and suddenly the Vet comes out into the waiting area and "aggressively gave my dog the Rabies Vaccination "OH AND THERE WAS NO EXAM AT ALL! ...she then abruptly left and I could hear her speaking loudly about how I needed to find a better place to take her and how rude I had been!! Unbelievable! I would never trust this clinic and especially the Vet who runs this clinic to "even be around my animals again!". Again the Tech who I interacted with was very nice and professional with me the entire time. Always short-staffed Dr Holcomb...I believe I witnessed why today. I felt very unsafe at your business today...can't give you any Stars today! It's a ZERO! (Oh have to give at least one Star in order to post this!) No wonder your Front desk staff are comfortable in bullying and rude behaviors with your customers, they are obviously following your lead.

The third day of class is devoted to practicing what we have learned and deepening our connection with animals through presence, observation, respect, compassion, and relationship. One of the things we practice in Animal Reiki is approaching animals with an open heart. Rather than asking an animal to do anything, we simply create a space of presence and connection. In that space, something beautiful can happen. We begin to recognize the animal not as an exhibit or an attraction, but as a fellow living being sharing the moment with us. As part of that experience, we visited Out of Africa Wildlife Park near my home in Cottonwood, Arizona, where we spent time with a magnificent white rhinoceros named Jericho. At first, Jericho stood beneath a tree in the shade at the bottom of a small gully. Our group was gathered higher up on a nearby hillside. As part of the experience, we shared gentle chanting, quiet presence, and the soft sounds of a small metal tongue drum that creates soothing, melodic tones. Then something caught our attention. Jericho stepped out from beneath the tree and moved into the open where he was fully visible to us. He positioned himself beside a large tire and rested his enormous horn against it. For the next ten to fifteen minutes, he remained there, attentive and present. His ears moved back and forth as he followed the sounds around him. He wasn't in a hurry. He wasn't distracted. He was simply listening. None of us were trying to get a response from Jericho. We were simply sharing a moment of presence, appreciation, and connection. Then something remarkable happened. Jericho began sounding back to us. For well over a minute, he vocalized in response, creating one of the most memorable wildlife experiences any of us had ever witnessed. As I reflected on the experience later, I realized that what touched me most was not the sounds themselves. It was the connection. We were there in our human nature. Jericho was there in his rhinoceros nature. Yet for a few beautiful moments, there was a feeling of relationship that transcended words. It reminded me that animals are not simply creatures we observe. They are individuals with awareness, preferences, personalities, and their own unique ways of engaging with the world. Jericho reminded us what can happen when we slow down enough to truly notice another living being. At the end of our visit, several people in our group described the experience as magical. I think I understand why. The magic wasn't in what Jericho did. The magic was in what he helped us remember. That connection is possible. That listening matters. And that the natural world has much to teach us when we take the time to pay attention. Thank you to Out of Africa Wildlife Park for creating opportunities for people to experience animals with such wonder, respect, and appreciation. And thank you, Jericho. You became our teacher that day. Julie Russell Cottonwood. Az
