The wife and I have been going here for over 5 years and have nothing but good things to say. The eye exams are quick and painless (no shooting air into your eyeball!). Their selection of frames is pretty astounding and can be a bit overwhelming. This is where the staff really shines though. They will help identify a good shape/size and recommend styles that compliment most anyone. Looks like others have mentioned they don't take a lot of insurance, nor did they take mine. They do however discount their services and items to a point that evens the playing field. Are they on the expensive side, yes. I took my children in for their optometry appointments and wasn't informed ahead of time that most of the exam wouldn't be covered by insurance, so | was surprised by a large bill at the end. For all of their customers, after you purchase 5 pairs, which is easy to do, you get a free pair. Today I ordered my free pair. A blend of classic and fun: black cat eye frames. I can't wait to wear them! The store is clean & bright with good lighting so you can really see how the frames will look. There are so many to choose from and you can just pick them off the shelves and try on. No need to ask every time you want to see another style. They are all there. It's like a candy store for frames! Oh, and don't worry about putting them back the way you found them; Its impossible. I think they send their employees to a special training class just for that! They always offer sales and discounts too making their already good prices even better, so get on their mailing list. The level of customer service is unmatched. They will adjust your glasses anytime for free. Whenever I go in to order or pick up a new pair, I bring my others for a tune up. If my glasses are getting out of shape, I stop in just for an adjustment and even if I am not purchasing anything, they provide this service. I've been a customer since they opened and have brought several friends who have now bought 6-packs! There have been times when they get a frame they know I will like, they call me. Now that's exceptional service! I wrote a glowing review on See Eyewear years ago but it disappeared, as happens frequently with Yelp and I don't know why. I've been wearing glasses for 25 years and since I found SEE several years ago, I've grown a small collection of glasses and sunglasses that make me look (and feel) stylish and put together. I have purchased 2 pair of glasses here with frames for like 700$. I take care of my glasses, I always put them in the case. Both lens scratched within a year and basically not useable. SEE weren't helpful or willing to make any replacement to the lens without another 387$, essentially did nothing other than offer to replace at my expense. Customer service nice and appropriate until you have a complaint. I will never buy glasses from there again. Unfortunate they have great frames. read more

SEE Eyewear is my go to, for frames. I am new to the eyeglass world, as of 12.2021. I had business downtown. Drove past SEE, several times. One day a parking spot was directly in front. So that was the day I went in. Sierra was the first person to greet me, while she was assisting another customer. My opinion, details like that, matter and Sierra's acknowledgement of me, encouraged me to browse. I knew exactly what I was looking for. I had been stalking the site. I thought, I wanted a specific pair but found an even better pair. The staff was honest in their opinions of my original choice. I also agreed. Sierra offered a few other styles, similar to what I wanted. Which was also appreciated because it helped me confirm, my choice. I was mentally distracted and Sierra basically held my hand, while I called insurance and she texted me with a quote for the frames and lenses, while I went on about my original reason for being in the area. I know she didn't have to do this. The fact that she recognized I was busy and distracted but helped me, as if I was a guaranteed client/sale, was impressive. I made my purchase. While waiting for my frames to come in, some things happened and Sierra (along with Maggie and Josh) worked together to address my concerns. Not only do I have the frames I wanted but Sierra and the entire SEE Eyewear team, provided me with exceptional client care. Sierra is welcoming, personable, quick to reply and a definite asset to the SEE team, in my opinion. Finally, when i went to pick up my first pair of SEE glasses. I also purchased my second pair. I have been a long time SEE customer and have bought many pairs over the last few years. While visiting Portland, I decided to stop into the store and was blown away by Sierra's helpfulness. I found a pair of glasses that I loved, and Sierra was like my own personal hype woman. She found a few other pairs (that I'm still dreaming about), but we ultimately agreed on one pair we both loved. It never felt like she was trying to upsell me, but she convinced me to add a few upgrades to my lenses that I'm excited about. She took my measurements, and double and triple checked that everything was right so my glasses were perfect. My SEE profile is also a bit of a mess, and Sierra asked if she could escalate and try to clean up my profile, going above and beyond what she needed to do. I'm currently counting down waiting for my glasses to arrive and can't wait to see them! I would fly back to Portland just to work with Sierra again! read more

Cheap frames and optics. For two years I could not use my glasses. Couldn't see comfortably. Frames hinge bent after 6 mo. of rarely just putting them on for reading a recipe in the kitchen. After I returned with the progressives I couldn't use, they told me a bi focal had to have a "line". Not true. I finally went to a professional at 20/20 on SW Hall blvd. and paid a decent amount for quality lenses. I can now use progressives easily and comfortably. This is just cheap glasses in a fancy location. read more

Got a great pair of sunglasses from See last summer and decided to go back for reading glasses yesterday. The website said open until 5 so we made the 40 mile commute and arrived at 4:18pm to find the store closed. We tried calling in hopes someone was still there but did not get an answer. While we were trying to call another couple walked up ready to go in when we told them it was closed. In the 3 minutes we stood there the store lost a potential 3 clients. I understand sometimes there are slow days but a business should stay open during posted hours. It made for a complete waste of 2 hours. read more

Melissa and See are lifesavers! I have a really high prescription (-9.5 what?!), so if I don't have glasses, I have to wear contacts from the moment I wake up until the second I hop into bed. Because of my high prescription, I have to get 1.74 high index, which are quite spendy, and the PD and focal height have to be measured absolutely perfectly. All you people with normal range prescriptions have no idea what a struggle and expense new glasses are for us blind folks. Well, I broke my glasses on a Monday morning and went all around town checking out glasses. See was my last stop of the day. Melissa was so patient with me as I tried on practically every style and then every color way in all the styles I liked. We finally got it down to two frames, and I decided to get both! I haven't purchased two pairs of glasses at once since I was a kid, but the glasses are affordable and the prices include basic lenses. And they are cool as hell to boot. They are a national company and send glasses off to their lab for the lenses. I was worried about sending off my glasses, as I usually try to get my glasses at shops that cut them in house because my prescription is so tricky. Well, I got them back by Friday (thanks for the rush, Melissa!), and I friggin' love them. I can see so clearly, the center of the lens is exactly where they should be, and I have gotten so many compliments on my new specs. I made an appointment a few weeks in advance and planned my day around being in the area for the appointment. The shop was closed when I arrived promptly at noon (the time of my appointment). I noticed a sign that said "open by appointment only." I waited for 15 minutes and called the phone number to no avail. I rarely get a day to myself so I'm disappointed that I spent so much time driving out for no reason. I understand emergencies come up, but a phone call would have been nice so I didn't have to waste half my day. read more

Expensive boutique on Trendy-Third. Compared to my previous optician (Kaiser), my progressive lenses had weird out of focus spots and scratched very easily. The temples (folding arms) of the frames bent in a weird way, apparently due to a loose screw, and not only was I unable to tighten them, but the See didn't even have the special tool needed to do so. I told them I was traveling to Washington DC and guess what? They had a shop there too, which would definitely have it. So I hiked to Georgetown on a hot muggy day, and - you guessed it - they didn't have the tool either. Apparently I'll need to send the frames in to the factory just to get the screws tightened. So I will do that - after I buy new glasses somewhere else. read more

The frames in this store are all really cute and stylish. I really wanted to like it, but the frames quality is ok and the service is meh. The first frame I got actually didn't go well with my prescription and distorted my face a bit so they recommended polishing the sides to see if it helped. I went the second time to pick them up and still wasn't a good fit so they restyled my glasses (got a different frame). After the third time, I just settled with what I got, even with the imperfection. I was tired of dealing with the back and forth. Won't be going back. read more

Oh man, I love this place. The staff is super friendly (especially dog friendly) and the selection is super great. The frames are really unique... I didn't know there was much more a designer could do to improve the look of your everyday spectacles short of changing up the colors. Turns out there's an infinite array of shapes, sizes, materials and yes, colors that make specs more than just utility pieces. And I think See has them all. I had the most fantastic experience at See Eyewear with Sierra! I live in Spokane, Washington, and we don't have a ton of fun options like they do at See Eyewear, so when I was in Portland, I knew I had to visit (since I'd been following them on Instagram for awhile). The selection did not disappoint! I have a very wide face and found a ton of options that looked fantastic. I ended up on two different options, and could not choose. Sierra worked a deal out so I could get both within my budget, which was amazing and so incredibly helpful!
