I came in here to look around for some new sunglasses. I know it's Winter, but it's always good to plan ahead. SEE has designs that you can only find here. They actually designed it themselves. Sunglasses are $99 and they are actually good quality sunglasses. For that price, I was kinda leaning to gets some Ray Bans, but I was told to come back again to see the new stock. The staff was really helpful and the layout and look of the store is really pleasing to the eye. I will definitely come back and check out the new styles. read more

Awesome little shop for glasses! Everyone's super nice and helpful, and I don't find them annoying at all. It's not like they're socially retarded and don't understand if you just want to browse. They also do great specials like an eye exam for $79 (or cheaper last month, like $50 or something), or certain styles including lenses for 50% off. I got a great pair (took a week and half to make) for $300, and that's with one of the most powerful (read: thin) lenses on the market. That's a huge steal. The people here are also great about adjustments (making the glasses tighter, etc). So if the fit isn't quite right, you'll never be uncomfortable asking for an adjustment. and you can also come back weeks/months later for free adjustments. Then, there are the styles. These guys only make a limited number of each style EVER (talking about 75 per). You can go to their website to see what styles they have. I love the colors too. The eye appointment ($59) went fine. The Doc was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I wear contacts usually so when I was asked to take them off, they had disposable contact cases and solutions there for you. Even a sink to wash your hands. She was patient and even though there was someone scheduled after me, I didn't feel like she was rushing through the exam. I especially liked how afterwards, she has a pair of mock glasses with your prescription so that you can see/feel what your new eye glass prescription will be like. To actually get the glasses, they state it'll take 7-10 days. My glasses took exactly 10 days and I was so happy to get the phone call. I got my glasses, tried them on and they felt loose so I told the guy and he was able to make them fit better. Then as I glanced down to get my wallet, the glasses slid down my nose and I realized they were still too loose so he sized them down further (they have some sort of machine on site) which I appreciated very much. He was friendly and patient. The only thing I wished was if they had some sort of eye glass donation where you could bring in old glasses and they would donate the pair to someone else. I also wished they provided a discount to returning SEE customers who have purchased frames from them in the past and want to change frame styles. *Note: for contact prescriptions it's $40 read more

I foolishly went to to one of those big box retailers where i looked at the big guy glasses (Prada, D+G) and saw style but no soul. I suddenly remembered where to go.... See.. I'd been to See Eyewear in LA. I loved their funky functional frames and their great attitude. The thing is you can end up looking like a cartoon character with some glasses that have funky style, but See's glasses don't make me (or anyone I know) look like someone that daffy duck should be arguing with. The service in the NYC store is perfect. Just enough fashion and fun, without being stuck up, rude or just dismissive. I walked in and within 2 minutes had tried on the perfect pair, thanks to their suggestion. Of course I tried on another 20 pairs just to be sure... but those first glasses were perfect from the moment i tried em on. Turnaround was about 2 weeks and cost was pretty good. I recently bought two pairs of glasses at SEE. I really love them both! There was such a good selection at the store and all of the frames were trendy. The staff was really nice, and Adam helped me and my friend pick from like ~7 frames that I liked down to 2. He was super friendly and I really trusted his opinion. He also got other staff members to give a final nod of approval for my choices, which was great. SEE took my insurance, which was great. It still ended up to be more expensive than I originally calculated, what with the anti-reflective (extra $95) and lens slimming ($70) to glasses that were already $250-350. But my insurance plus a student discount (I think) and I am really happy with the price for two pairs of really awesome glasses. Plus, I haven't updated my frames for 6 years, so I think that dropping some money on frames that I love is totally reasonable. Oh, also, I did end up waiting around 9 days, which seemed like a really long time because I was so excited to get my new glasses, so just be prepared for that wait. I will absolutely be back - probably when my insurance resets and I want prescription sunglasses! I absolutely recommend SEE. Love, love, love this location! It always makes me happy to support a business from my home state. Even more so when they carry cute, reasonably priced product and the staff is always super friendly, remembers us, etc. The staff is really helpful in selecting glasses that compliment your face. They want you looking your best when you're wearing their product. This location gets fairly busy on the evenings and weekends; however, they are always well staffed and I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to speak to someone or make a purchase. It's not quite the bargain some reviews have made it out to be, but you could easily drop twice as much on some of the frames from which SEE has taken its inspiration. For bargain-bin prices, shop online ($30 glasses? Yes please). For some stylish frames and Zeiss lenses (I find them just slightly better than the lenses in my online glasses) getting your glasses here won't bankrupt you for a month. read more

I got a pair of glasses here over a year ago and still couldn't be happier with them. SEE was awesome and the ordering process was seamless - I actually tried on and ordered my glasses in Boston, but asked for the order to be filled in New York. The glasses were ready on time and they fit perfectly!! My complaint is that SEE doesnt have a ton of selection for smaller/narrow faces - they seem to focus on the whole "over-sized" look in general and I really had to dig to find a pair that looked proportionate on me. Also, considering their very reasonable prices on prescription glasses, the price for sunglasses seems high - $99 for a non-prescription pair. For that price, I'd rather just pay a little extra and get a pair of Ray-Bans - which is exactly what I did. read more

This review is based upon my experience with Brenda Estrada. I went in search of new glasses after realizing I've been wearing the same pair of SEE eyeglasses for the past seven years!! I definitely needed a new look. Brenda was the first person who greeted me once I entered the store on a rainy Saturday evening. Her friendly demeanor immediately put me at ease. She listened patiently as I explained my likes and dislikes and then we were off. She suggested multiple pairs of glasses to try on, never once did I feel pressured nor that she was pushy. Don't go here for an eye exam. I went because they took my insurance but I don't know why they offer the service. They have a little closet that they use for an exam room and the doctor totally rushed through my exam and she didn't have my records from the year before to see if I needed my eyes dilated again. I've been to the Broadway location before and it went well. You'd think they'd share the patient records. This was a huge disappointment. read more

I had to come back 4 times to get my order right because the salesperson who handled my order only ordered one pair of glasses and not the second. Because it was at the end of the year I won't be able to use my FSA to purchase the second pair. When the salesperson told me that only one pair had been purchased instead of apologizing and finding a solution he blamed it on me and was extremely rude. I had the worst experience here this weekend. The sales rep who helped, Lisa, was quite unkind. Initially, my experience was great-- she helped me pick out a pair of glasses that I really enjoyed and was super excited about. However, she tried to up-sell me on anti-glare. While I understand this is definitely important, it was an extra $100 that I did not have to spend. Upon leaving the store I realized she had added the anti-glare anyway, even though I asked her not to. When I went back to the store, she was quite rude when I asked if she could please remove the charge, as it was something I had explicitly said no to. She tried to convince me anti-glare was important by telling me that without this the glasses would be useless and look horrible. I left with such a bad taste in my mouth that I ended up canceling the entire order. read more

I went into SEE about a month ago looking for a pair of reading glasses. My mother has a pair of the SEE Concept glasses from Bloomingdales, which I love. I was helped by an asian woman, who did not seem very eager to assist customers. She asked where we were from and sneered at our response. When I showed her my mothers glasses that I liked and wanted a similar pair, she stated they do not sell them in the store. She was rude and contemptuous throughout our short conversation. She left a very sour taste in my mouth and I unfortunately left the store without purchasing a pair of glasses. I will not be back due to the customer service. read more

I would not recommend this place at all!!!! I have been to See since they first opened bought many pairs of glasses and sunglasses from them. That does not seem to faze their rude treatment. I keep giving them a second chance but their rudeness is unacceptable. I came in to have my glasses adjusted on my face. The sales person was unable to figure out in which direction to adjust so she kept going back and forth from left to right with force. I am unable to watch because it looks like she was going to break them. Sure enough she did. She did not apologize she said oh that can be fixed. Then proceeded to tell me that they were old that is why they broke. No it was her brute force. Hence why I came to a so called professional. They were my only pair I had to and insist upon lending me readers. In the beginning she said she did not have any to lend me. I believe it was the manager who stepped in and said yes we did have readers to lend. The glasses were repaired I came in the glasses were not straight and the manager would not adjust them. She said they would not be responsible if they were to break they already had done me a favor by repairing them. I was shocked they broke my glasses and then had the nerve to tell me that they did me a favor to repair them. Now I am back to square one with glasses that are not straight on my face. After being a customer since they opened on Bleecker St. this is how they behave. There was another indecent where I had put a deposit on some glasses only to find out they sold the glasses when I came to pay for them. There was another time corp. had to step in and correct the mismanagement of this store. SO if you want to be treat rudely have your glasses broken and be told they did you a favor by repairing them. Two weeks ago, I purchased a pair of eyeglasses in theBleeker street store on Sunday. Selection was great, sales people great - I picked a pair. I had just had an eye exam elsewhere, so I faxed in my prescription on Monday. I even called to follow up and confirm that the store did indeed receive my prescription fax. I've been waiting for two weeks to get the call that my glasses were in. As it's now been two weeks, I called to check on the status and found out my order had "fallen through the cracks" and now - two weeks later - my order hasn't even been placed yet. After spending nearly $500, and choosing See over many other retailers, this is really unacceptable. I was told by the store that they will overnight my order once my glasses are made - but they couldn't tell me how long that will take. read more

Quality of staff has gone down. I've been a loyal See customer for over two years, own 3 pairs of sun/glasses from them and have told the tens and tens of people who compliment my glasses about them. I'm currently looking for a new pair of frames so I pop into See every couple of weeks to look at the new selection, searching for my perfect pair. Then I encounter Yacov. Total ass. Tells me that what I'm looking for isn't right for my face, then when I find a pair that I sort of like, pressures me to buy them and threatens that they might be gone. Dude, that's clearly a risk I'm willing to take. Please See tell your salespeople to lay of the selling, it's not becoming, and I'm going to drop my half a thousand in your store without the push anyway. Now I'll make sure someone else gets that commission when I do decide to buy. read more

Initial Terrible experience. One star rating. I brought a pair of frames I had I bought in paris to get new lenses. They made me sign a release letter absolving them from responsibility in case the frame would be damaged. Sure enough the frame was damaged and they blamed it on the frame. They tried to fix it and gave me back the frame that showed glue all of over as indication of a shotty job. Then they suggested I take one of their frame as replacement which I did. One week after I picked up the glasses, I saw scratches on the lenses. When I took them back they told me that I must have dropped them and clearly tried to shift the responsibility on me. This is the second time I bought glasses at that particular location and I will never go back there again. When I was at the store discussing these matters, the store manager haf the most negative attitude among all staff and was clearly not trying to find a solution. Customer service is when things do not go as expected. Otherwise it is just a sale. Food for thoughts for the team at SEE. I felt that every time I had a complaint that I was not credible or that I was trying to get a free ride. Far from the truth. I was a repeat customer that clearly did not feel heard or respected. August 24 Update - changed to 3 star rating. As an update to the review posted 10 days ago. I got a call from Customer Service at the Headquarters and I have been very impressed by the way they have followed up on my feedback and have committed to solicit more feedback and more importantly to try to make it right and offering to replace my scratched lenses as well offering me a discount on future lenses. Kuddo to the Mother Ship customer service team at SEE (specifically Andrew) and their true understanding of customer service. I hope these values trickle down to the team in the West Village but they certainly impressed me enough to restore my faith in the brand. read more

SEE eyewear in the W. Village. You get what you pay for. I paid $100 for a pair of frames, and I had to have them adjusted too many times, they keep slipping down my face. They don't hold an adjustment. In addition after owning them 1 1/2 years they fell apart, and I was told it would cost $80 to repair them. I asked about buying a new pair of frames and they no longer had that model. I have transitional lenses which cost $375 so I'm not thrilled about having to buy another pair of frames and lenses. I asked them to try to glue the frames and they said they didn't have glue. I went home and pasted them back together on my own. I will never buy another pair of frames from them. read more

Being my first set of glasses I was a really hesitant about the whole process but going to SEE was the best fit for me. I was helped by Yan and he was very precise in picking the frames that fit my face shape best (I had a 2 year old prescription mainly because I hated how glasses looked on me!) and explaining all the fancy features they came with depending on my preference and usage. SEE's got a great collection of their own eyewear for folks like me who can't get lasik and can't get by without some vision assistance. I've done my fair share of glasses shopping lately (they're going on my face, after all!), and they had a pretty good selection, and some awesome prices. The styles are a step up from generic lens-crafters types, but they also run you a heck of a lot less than fancy vintage frames from other Manhattan boutiques. Unlike most places I've visited, the price of basic lenses is included in the price you see on the tag. Of course, if you want anti-reflective lenses as almost anyone would, it'll cost you $50 or $100, but hey, it still comes out to the same or cheaper than most boutique glasses. Though I'm pleased with the frames and prices, I was put off by the overbearing customer service on both occasions that I visited. I got lines about paying extra for transition lenses, suggestions to try on shapes I never said I wanted, and opinions that I definitely didn't ask for. The second time I visited the guy even tried telling me that me and my Chinese friend looked like sisters (to which another caucasian customer responded "If they're sisters, I'm Korean!"). Bring a friend for an honest opinion and you could save a dime or two on some good looking frames. read more

Found this store by chance walking around and fell in love with their unique, funky frames. The frames are definitely pricey but I have now had my frames for about 6 years and not once have I had a problem with them (I've only had to tighten them a handful of times, if that). I also love how these frames aren't pretentious and don't have any name or insignia on them. The case is also simple and durable, which is appreciated since I have to keep them in my purse (wouldn't want a case that takes up too much room or is heavy). read more

Went to SEE. Glasses gave me double vision. So I asked them to re-do them, but they forgot to fit them on my face before. They of course still didn't fit right. So I had to go back for the third time. Went the third time, and Patrick and the manager were very helpful. I was able to swap the first pair for a better fitting frame, got a re-check on the prescription, and even got a discount on a second pair. In the end, SEE was great! THANKS SEE! read more

I've actually been meaning to write a review for See Eyewear on Bleeker for several months- goes to show how impressed I was that I still feel driven to post months later! Anyways, one day I was walking around Greenwich Village when out of the blue, my sunglasses broke. One of the arms just fell off randomly. They weren't expensive, so I was about to just throw them away, but my cousin assured me that it was probably just a tiny pin that fell out and can be replaced. Coincidentally, seconds later we're passing See Eyewear so we went in to see if they carry those little glasses repair kits. An associate immediately asked if he could help me with anything and I showed him my sunglasses, and asked if he had any idea of why they broke and if they are fixable. He looked at them and said it wasn't caused by a missing pin- just stress on the hinge caused the material to snap or something (in other words, these were really cheap sunglasses). Even so he took them to the back of the store to see if there was anything he could do to fix them; I preoccupied myself by trying on trendy frames. He returned 5 minutes later, having reattached the arm with some sort of apoxy, and said they should stay in the folded position for at least 24 hrs for the apoxy to set, though it's unlikely they were fixed for sure. He asked if I had a case to keep them in and when I said no, he laughed, gave me a free case, and told me if I want my sunglasses to last I need to keep them well protected. True.. very true. And that was that. He fixed my sunglasses and gave me a case, all for free. Thanks to this great customer service, I know exactly where I'll buy my next set of frames. read more

If I could give this company a lower rating, I would. They practiced horrible customer service both in-store and over the phone. In the store, I was snapped at by the staff after writing down the product number of the glasses I liked so that I could purchase them later online. (?) When I received my glasses after a long wait, I was unhappy with the look and quality of the product. I contacted a customer service representative asking to return my glasses 15 days after purchase. The representative was incredibly rude and he hung up after 2 minutes of speaking to me. I would not dream of purchasing anything from this company again. read more

I was looking for new sunglasses and I remembered SEE, which opened up in the same location as a bakery I worked at when I was 16. Man that was a good summer...Anyways, they have a really great selection of sunglasses. I was not in need of a prescription, just killer frames at a reasonable cost. I've searched at Oliver Peoples and Solstice, where sunglasses can run anywhere between $280-$450. Just like you, you the hell can or wants to drop that money. And their selection is still not even great. I ended up buying two pairs, totaling $215 after tax, both which look awesome! They are better than any Prada, Ray-Ban glasses I every purchased. The only reason SEE loses a star is because they don't have many "fresh" pairs so you have to buy the floor model. But whatever. These glasses are awesome, cheap, strong, and I'm lookin' goooood. read more
