While driving up to LA from San Diego, we decided to take the coastal route up from Dana Point and make some shopping stops. Since See's Candies is mostly a West Coast chain, we had to make a stop here on the Pacific Coast Hwy. As soon as you walk into the bright white store, you are handed a sample piece of chocolate of the day. I don't remember what flavor it was, but all I remember was that it was DELICIOUS! They will let you sample other flavors as well. For the $200+ purchase we were about to make, I could have gone into a chocolate coma! My wife proceeded to load up a shopping basket with half the store, while I did my Yelp thing and took pictures of everything. This is not a very large See's, but they did have a large selection of pre-packaged chocolates, as well as a la carte pieces in the display cases. SInce it was already November, most of the items on the shelves were Christmas themed, wrapped and ready for gift giving. We ended up shipping most of it home. For my grand niece's birthday party the following week, we brought a box of the lollipop variety pack and it was a hit with all the kids! read more

Cute location with a small parking lot next to it. As always at See's, I was offered a free piece of candy when I arrived. I was given a scotch mallow. It was past its prime with the caramel being very hard. I wondered if they changed the recipe or if it was old. I had planned to get some scotch mallows but opted for something else because the sample was not good! The other chocolates I got were fine, however, I would find out that the recipe was the same and the caramel was not supposed to be hard like the sample I was given at this location. Love this location! Staff is friendly, order pickup is efficient, the lines are never crazy and there's always parking. Sure beats going to the ones in busy malls and shopping centers. Today they even surprised me with extra chocolates sneakily stuffed in my to-go bag (the perfect treat-myself for last minute gift wrapping!). My husband and I love See's candies. Not having access to them in Florida is a disappointment so whenever we travel we always find a store to stock up. We have decided that purchasing a ready made box isn't as special as selecting our personal favorites. The chocolates also seem to be fresher when we have the box assembled. The lady assisting us on this visit was very patient and friendly. The store was clean and bright. We were offered samples as soon as we walked in There is a nice big candy counter where all of the chocolates sold sit on display. From the display you choose your favorites. The candy is sold by the pound and is guaranteed to be fresh. Any chocolate that is not sold by a certain date is pulled from the inventory. See's does a great job at packaging their chocolates to be presented as gifts. You can purchase them for Birthdays, Holidays, Gender reveal and much more. Very disappointed that the Dark Chocolate Caramel Patties that I received only had 2 patties per cup instead of the usual 3 patties. This Corona Del Mar location is the only one that has done this. It goes without saying that See's Candies offers consistently high quality candy and a wide variety of choices, at that. What varies across the locations, however, is the customer service and the overall customer experience. Having been a regular customer since a pound of See's was $2.25 (as I recall being handheld by my grandmother into multiple southern CA locations), I have not found a See's store in all my travels that has such a high level of customer service as this store in Corona del Mar. Each employee seems genuinely nice, happy, and intending to focus on the customer in front of them. This is true despite the two interactions so often inflicted upon store employees by executives sitting in corporate offices who probably have little to no actual in-store experience and believe is productive and profitable: 1) the reflexive "Hi, welcome to [insert store name]" and 2) the upselling invitation guised as introducing customers to new or underselling items. The customer service at this store is so good that even these interactions feel genuinely offered to customers. Since this store's customer service excels over other See's stores, this means to me that the leadership at this store values solid interviewing/hiring/training practices and a healthy work environment. All of this helps when purchasing a fine candy whose price has far outcompeted the rate of inflation over the decades. I would say that their salaries should do the same but that would mean another huge price increase. All in all, this is a great brand and this store outshines all the others I've visited---and that is a lot of See's stores. read more

I am not a fan of chocolates, but when I have a rare craving of chocolates, See's is my top choice. Dark Chocolate Covered Cherry is the best chocolate covered cheery I have ever had. Very juicy inside, which is extremely difficult to achieve. California Crunch is also one of my favorites. Not overly sweet, perfect blend of toffee, nuts and white chocolate. Their lollipops are also amazing, I love the chocolate flavored pops. I always have a box of little pops on my desk somewhere. This location is as good as it gets. I am a loyal and I mean loyal See's Candies customer. I visit probably 3-4 times per week. Yes, that often. See's candy is amazing and its my one vice. The CDM location is my go to location. Everyone is amazing, from Thanya to Aleczander to Rocio to Janet, from a friendly smile to a laugh about how much I'm ordering to reminding me what my mom or son likes, this group does it all. And they do it with a smile on their face and joy in their attitude. I can't tell you how happy I am that they are back open for business, socially distanced of course.
