Ordered a Bundt cake for a party on the 4th of July and both the website and information on their phone said they would be open until 7pm. Arrived at 3:15pm and they had closed at 3pm. They did not attempt to contact me to advise they were closing early. I did have a 1pm pick up time, but got delayed. Would have gone their first in hindsight. Subsequently I had to scramble to find alternative options as I had 25 people arriving without a dessert. Strawberries & Cream was a nice mix of fruit filling and white chocolate. Lemon was delightful. Chocolate Chocolate Chip was too dense texture-wise but still decadent. I'm very disappointed in Nothing Bundt Cakes - Costa Mesa location. I purchased a gender reveal cake for the gender reveal party of my first baby. When my partner and I picked up the cake and were headed to the party, he was able to see that the rattle said boy without even lifting up the flower. It ruined the gender reveal. Very nice place. The workers were so nice. It was my girlfriend's birthday and I wanted to buy her a whole cake to celebrate and blow out some candles. They offered the birthday themed bundt cake, but I wanted to put some candles on top so we just decided to buy the whole cake without the decorations. We typically pick up cakes for birthdays or when friends/coworkers are leaving and each time the person loves the cakes. Every time we have purchased any of the bundt cakes, they have been moist and never dry. We can always rely on the consistency which is a huge plus. I am usually not a frosting fan but I do like the frosting on these cakes. The frosting is a bit rich but I usually take some off and wash my cake down with some strong coffee. The difference between the two shops are this...SusieCakes has a more dense and dry cake with sweeter buttercream where NBC has a smooth, velvety moist cake with the best buttercream frosting that isn't too sweet. Terrible customer service. Ordered the 8 inch bundt cake and a personal. After I paid out the girl "have a great day" and quickly rushed to the back. I took a glance into my bag and noticed that she didn't offer OR at least throw my receipt in the bag. I yelled excuse me but not sure if they could hear me in the back. Went there today to get a bundtlet and I asked for extra icing. When I asked I specifically told the girl at the register that I really love the icing and was willing to pay however much in order to get extra icing fully covering the top. She smiled and went in the back. When she brought it back it has extra icing but wasn't fully covered. I nicely asked if she could cover it more and she said no. I said I was willing to pay extra on top of the extra that I already paid and she still refused and said they were not allowed to and it was against their policy. When I asked why her only explanation was "someone complained once that we put too much icing on so we aren't allowed to". I then asked if I could just pay for a side of icing and get it separately. She still refused to do so. This makes absolutely no sense. How is there a policy against giving extra icing. Every time I go, I feel as though the staff is doing me a favor by waiting on me. For such a wonderful ambiance , delicious cakes, the service and feeling welcome is non existence .
