I have been ill for quite some time so not able to visit See's. I was finally able to go in this past week. I like to choose just the one's that I like. I was so disappointed. Half of what I purchased were stale. Plus the Peanut Crunch bag went up to $16.30. But, I guess prices are up everywhere. With the price going up though they shouldn't be selling stale ones. What was most disappointing were my very favorite candy, Dark Chocolate Patties. Totally hard and stale. Sad that they would let their quality go so far down. read more

I was in the area visiting another store and decided last minute to stop in for "just a few pieces." The new banana chocolate candy is delicious! I picked up some of my favorites (cashew brittle, rum raisin, milk chocolate Bordeaux, vanilla nut fudge) and was on my way. Came today because they are currently the only store will their entire per pound chocolates available. My usual locations were out of my dual picks , so I did an online ick up order. I never got my email to notify me that the order was fulfilled and I was nearby, but luckily the staff was very friendly when I called to check about my order. They confirmed it and said it will be done now so it would be ready within 10 minutes! When I finally got there, the process was very quick and she gave me several wrapped samples as well. The majority of the staff here are a bit aloof for my liking. Half the time, I'm not offered a sample. And when I am offered, I am limited. Plus they can't seem to manage a line... it leads to chaos during busy seasons such as Valentines and Christmas. During those times, the meek do not get served. It's a free for all. I muscled it out 2 days and the weekend before this past Valentines Day. Some folks bailed due to the thunder dome atmosphere. This shop is my local neighborhood See's, but my favorite location is Palladio in Folsom. Their customer service is awesome, far superior to the Natomas location. But Sees candies themselves are downright divinely delicious. My faves are the California brickle, peanut brittle, and toffee-ettes. Yum! Did you know they still hand dip each bon bon and decorate each fancy chocolate Easter egg by hand by real humans!?! Yes..they do! Plus the seasonal only items such as hot hearts, sour hearts, St Patrick's day potato, scotchmallow (mint for St Pat's day and pumpkin for Halloween), and chocolate Easter egg... are divinely delicious. I called everywhere to find chocolate coins for Chinese New Year. When I gave them a call, unsure if it was the actual manager or assistant manager that helped me. I asked on the phone if they had the Chinese New Year red boxes with their chocolate coins. He said they had four left. I was so excited after calling three other See's candies stores. He offered to hold them till they closed. I drove all the way to Natomas to pick them up. I bought two boxes. If i was financially ok, I'd buy all of rest of the boxes. If you like pretty looking boxes made for Chinese New Year, this would be the perfect gift for family members or a person you want to wish a Happy New Year. What I really love is the Manager knew my name when I walked in and personalized service by getting the boxes. It was a smooth transaction. I will be coming in yearly to get my. This review is for the Natomas See's Candies. They are located in the large Natomas Marketplace shopping center near Truxel Road and Interstate 80 in the same center as Walmart, In-N-Out, and the movie theatre. Parking can be tight as they share the lot with Walmart and the other tenants. This location is a little smaller than the others, but they still have a large display of prepackaged items and a large display case for custom boxes. Staff is friendly and helpful as always finding that special treat. It always seems a little less hectic in this store than in others. Everyone needs a sweet treat every now and then, and the Natomas See's Candies usually fits the bill. Prices have gone up, and parking is a challenge, but the prize is worth the effort. read more

I went in today to use my 1 lb certificate that I got as a gift. I opted to customize my box and it is seriously the best option, in my opinion! I have not purchased See's candy in a long, long time, and when I did, it was always a prepackaged box as a gift for someone. The options were endless from dark chocolate, to milk chocolate, to white chocolate, and to other fun chocolates. I walked back and forth so many times trying to figure which ones I wanted in my box. The lady that helped me was so sweet and so patient with me. And thank god I was the only one in there! Or I would have felt pressured to quickly decide which flavors. The lady gave me suggestions and walked me through some of the flavors I was struggling with and I felt bad I kept changing my mind, but she was so nice about it! I got a variety of chocolates and cannot wait to try them. The scotchmallow is one of my favorites so far. The best part is, this box was free...hehe. I come here for Judy!! She has been our "See's Lady" for years. Whenever I need a fix she always delivers. Her and the staff her are always friendly and familiar. As odd as it sounds they're like our little family. We came in here so much (the previous location across the light) that she and they know what our favorite candies are. Funny story....I've been craving See's Candies for about a few months now. Not just any See's candies but specifically the Bordeaux. We don't have a See's candy in my state so I planned on making a special stop just to stock up. It was nearing the end of our trip and I didn't think I was going to make it to See's but the second to the last day presented an opportunity and I jumped at it. I walked into this specific location and was greeted by such a sweet gentleman. I didn't see any Bordeaux bars and sadly started to walk out. He asked if he could help me find something and I said I was looking for candy bars. He showed me the milk chocolate bars and I told him I was looking for the Bordeaux bars. He went into the back and pulled out an entire box. I was so incredibly grateful. He could have told me they didn't have any or he could have pulled out one or two but he came back and asked how many I wanted. I asked for five bars and two Scotchmellows. I told him I've been craving them and was super excited to have them to take home with me. He told me they were his favorite as well and that's how he ended up working for See's. He used to get a Bordeaux bar every shift he worked at the mall. (I was shocked at such a personal story and such customer service). He went out of his way to connect with me on a personal level. I appreciated that. I left with my purchase and a few Bordeaux samples for the road. The kind individual left a smile on my face. I was very happy.....until.......... I packed up the bars in my suitcase and left for our next destination (sadly another state that doesn't sale See's). We arrived after a red eye and tiredly set our bags down for the long day of meeting with family whom we haven't seen in many years. After a day of meeting everyone, and 36 hours of zero sleep, I went to grab a magical, soothing, Bordeaux bar and found my sister in law's dog had gotten ahold of my entire stash!!!! All seven chocolate bars were gone. Now most would say...that's irresponsible and it's my fault but I promise, they were in a sealed bag up on a chest of drawers at least five feet tall. The door was closed and the chocolate was in a safe space (or so I thought). Sadly I never got to eat even one bar of my stash. The dog didn't even know the blissfulness he was devouring. It was a sad sad day but one day again, I will come into contact with another Bordeaux bar. Until then See's candy...your customer service is top notch and I can't wait to stop into this specific store in about a year from now. I'll be looking to replace my original purchase. LOL read more

You dont need to just SEE what they have going on in here, you should also use your other senses like smell, when you walk in the door and smell the chocolaty goodness, and taste thats were it all comes together. Backstory! Mary See is the person whose pictures are on the walls and bags throughout the stores. She is the one who inspired her son Charles A See to open a confection business when they moved to California back in 1920. There 1st store opened in 1921. Charles mothers tradition on making candy and using the finest ingredients is what inspired him to go for it. The stores iconic black and white decor he used from his mothers kitchen when she would make them at home in there bungalow. His mom taught him well, her strong beliefs in quality and goodness helped him strive throughout the years of the great depression. He made deals with bulk buying and when they bought ingredients the suppliers said its not top quality they want See's quality which ment it was better than top quality. Which is why they have continued to strive today. In to the goods. Dont know where to start so many great choices. They have toffe ettes, nuts and chews, milk, dark, white chocolates, candy bars, seasonal foodies (flavors that represent the seasons and holidays.) Like valentine's day they have many cinnamon options, Halloween they will have a lot of sour gummy bats and others, November pumpkin and spice chocolates. ST. Patrick's day they break out the chocolate treasure coins and the top O' the list of my favorites is the St Patrick's day potato. Then they have lolly pops. You can buy the regular flavors like vanilla, chocolate, butterscotch or caffe latte. But the best ones are the seasonal, cinnamon tastes like a hot tamale, creamy mint, caramel apple, chocolate orange, pumpkin spice and i was told that this soring/summer 2016 they will have a strawberry cream (mmm can't wait to try that). And if you dont like or have to watch your sugar levels they have some choices for you too. Like sugar free peanut brittle, dark almonds candy bars and more. And if kosher is your thing too they got ya covered there as well, like seasonal items, lollypops and more. and the sweetest kick of all they give free samples to all who come in, so you can try something that your tummy or eyes are longing for. I have only been here once so far, but it was a fantastic experience. Besides loving chocolate, I came in here to buy a bulk supply of about 50 or so lollipops. Let me just say that the 1lb sees candy coupons are amazing. I had one from 2009 and it still worked :D... Buying 30 lollipops sells for $18.50 (breaks down to be about $0.62) instead of being $0.90 each. The great thing about this is that the lollipops beyond the initial 30 also sell for the cheaper price! I purchased 16 Caramel apple, 10 Cafe Latte, 14 Vanilla, and 10 Butterscotch lollipops all for $25.83 (- $19.30 which is the price equivalent for 1lb)... great thing is that checking in also gets you $5 off of any $30 or more purchase. SOO I ended up only paying $6.53 for 50 lollis! Yay! The lady was super nice and told me I could get as many samples as I want, whenever I want (: Will be coming back for these hehe... read more

Stopped at this little hole in the wall See's candy shop tucked behind the main activity of Natomas Gateway Center. It is a small shop compared to the others I have been in, one thing I did notice was a picture hanging on the wall behind the counter. I guess back in the day See's had booths in their shops.... I came in actually at 625 and she was about to close. She was so helpful and nice. I came in here for pumpkin spice lollipops. I have a thing for pumpkin flavoring (cant u tell) and need my fix when its available. I walk all around the store looking for the lollipops and she asked if I was looking for something. I said, "Yes, pumpkin spice lollipops". She led me back to the front of the store, I totally missed it. It was just small section of the lollipops. I asked if there will be more later in the month and she said no, thats it. I asked for the month. She said yes due to the recession, the orders were cut down. The lollipops were really creamy and not enough of the pumpkin flavoring at all... What were they thinking? It was my first time tasting it. I have been there at five minutes to closing to grab a small bag of essentials: Raspberry Cream, Normandy, Dark Bordeaux, and Dark Chocolate-Covered Walnuts. Even at this time of the day, the lovely woman behind the counter was gracious and unhurried. I love the festive decorations, gift packaging, and seasonal offerings for major holidays. Think you know candy, think you know chocolate - then you know See's. This See's used to be across the street near Target on North Freeway. But has since moved across Truxel and is now near WalMart and Sally Hansen Beauty Supply. A much better location in my opinion. When you walk into the place which there is usually a line, you can look around and find prepacked candy, candy bars, suckers, and the candy counter (I'm in heaven). Also several lovely ladies handing out samples. Sometimes I just come in for a sample and they are happy to give them to you. See something behind the counter that sounds interesting but you're not sure, ask for a sample. That's one of the best parts of See's being able to sample the candy. I've been to other candy stores, you won't let me try one before I buy then I'm not buying. Typically, I self select a half pound box, I can get about 16 to 18 pieces of chocolate to take home. Or I buy a few pieces and they put them in a bag. They have 1 pound boxes and two pound boxes. You can buy them prepacked, like nuts and chews or creams, even truffles. Absolutely excited to find that Natomas has a Sees Candies. I am so addicted to the Scotchmallows which I could seriously eat everyday for the rest of my life. I also enjoy the wonderful caramel or chocolate suckers that they have...the seasonal cinnamon ones for the holidays are also a good find! If you just want a taste of their magical goodness they offer free samples...but be warned you will end up buying something if you go in for just a sample. My least favorite thing about this location, is the infamous parking lot. Whoever designed this layout seriously hates humans its the only explanation of why this parking lot is god awful! read more

Came here for Valentines, and as mentioned by another reviewer, it would have been helpful if they had a greeter, or navigator to help customers within the store. I stopped here back to back the week of valentines, since I forgot to get something the first day. The first day, although busy, the line sped through. People were in and out, and service was pleasant. The next day, my second trip, not so much. The store is on the smaller side and was cramped being Valentine's week, and there was a lady stocking, and also being called to help at the register. If you did not need to get chocolate from the case, then you could bypass the line and go straight to the register which was a brilliant idea. What was not beneficial is the ladies behind the counter telling the stocking lady to keep checking to see if there were customers who were ready to purchase. When it was apparent most of the customers did want to purchase something from the case, and the stocking lady was not needed, it seemed the exchange she had with her coworkers frustrated her and she started saying out loud "I know what I am doing, I dont need others checking up on me." I know the store may be busy, but even though a worker is not defined by their job, they are still a reflection of the company. When I witness an employee doing this, I feel as a customer in an awkward situation. How is a customer supposed to respond to that? Both visits I was still given my complimentary sample, I just wish I would have remembered everything the first visit that way I did not have to witness the disgruntled employee. read more

The only reason another star was added is because See's candy will always be one of my favourite chocolates EVER! I walked in knowing I needed 2 boxes of Asst. Choc. to send over seas! $17 a box now! OUCH! They use to be $12, the lady said they raise the price $1 a year, like I should have known? Who says that to a customer? I had just heard an ad. on the radio that See's will give a discount to companies, so I also asked her about this... Her response was, "I don't know, they only do that at 2 stores in Sac. and this one isn't one of them, so why would I need to know. Really? Wow? I am so sick and tired of poor customer service, I don't need to buy chocolate from here, I will go to Jelly Belly, the Brits love that even more! The crazy part is I was bringing in business, a lot of it, from a local company that would have ordered tons of candy for Christmas... Good Luck See's....... Received the worst customer service I have ever received at ANY See's candy from the store manager Judy, and to top off the horrible experience I had the candy I gave to someone as a present was stale. I was shocked at the lack of professionalism from both the store manager and the associate that was working.
