What a gem! Family owned restaurant that serves Lao and Thai food. Love the ambiance, the visual menu of food and drinks that gave you a real look to what you're ordering. This place has been running for about 4 years but kept so well that it looks pretty new still. Place was clean and service was excellent. What we had: KaH poon, Lao sausage, a grilled pork plate, lychee drink and Vietnamese coffee. We enjoyed every bite! Nothing went to waste and will definitely be back. Husband really raved about the best sausage he has ever eaten hahahhah I didn't have any so I cant say YAH GET IT - BUT he knows his food so you probably should. We were visiting town for my brother's wedding when my sister-in-law and her boyfriend introduced us to this spot for dessert after dinner across the parking lot. From the very first visit, we were impressed. Our party of four ordered six different items, and honestly, every single one was delicious. We loved it so much that we returned another day for dinner and ended up ordering ten different items from the menu. Once again, everything was excellent. What stood out most was how flavorful everything tasted without feeling greasy, overly sweet, or too heavy. The ingredients in both the savory dishes and desserts complemented each other really well, and you could tell a lot of thought went into the flavors and presentation. The staff were consistently warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout all of our visits, which made the experience even better. On our final day in town, we had a group of 18 people after a sushi feast and decided to order a large variety of desserts from here. The only downside we experienced was that the online menu didn't fully match what was actually available in the store. Since our group coordinated orders remotely, about one-third of the items selected online were unavailable when we went to pick everything up, so we had to reorganize several orders at the last minute. They are located in the same area/corner where Firehouse Crawfish restaurant and Pipo Ramen & Rice restaurant is. You order your food at the counter and then they bring you your foods. There's plenty of parking. Upon arrival... Pros 1) staffs were very nice and professional. 2) we got the beef laab and pad see ew. Both dishes were good. Mochi waffles were good. Had nice big chunks of coconut in it. Water tasted good. No funky taste to water. 3) our table looked cleaned, cups, plates and utensils clean. 4) server brought us a plate each with utensils and 1 napkin per person. I didn't see additional napkins on the table. 5) there are cute little anime toys there. 6) they have little jars of jabong you can buy. 7) Cons 1) the people with me didn't like their drinks. Ube boba and Thai tea didn't taste good. It didn't taste bad either. It's like something was missing they said. But they were nice enough to add more milk to the Thai tea. 2) 3) Conclusion I like this little restaurant. There's lots plates I wanted to try. We came here on a Sunday to try some Lao food. They also have an extensive drink menu ( boba teas). We ordered 4 dishes: Papaya Salad ( Lao style) which was very salty, Lao sausage, Grilled chicken which tasted old, Laab which ended up being sold out. Not sure if this was an off day since they had good reviews but service was awful. Our food seriously took 50 minutes, almost an hour. Then they told me they sold out of Laab when they served us the food at the table. They didn't even offer water. It was unfortunate. People before me were waiting a long time for their food. Visited the Cocomilk Cafe with a friend. First time visiting this spot and it is tucked away in a little plaza. The space is clean and well kept. It was nice and bright inside and decorated. They have a cool gashapon machine with several anime characters, like Pokemon, Hello Kitty, and Demon Slayer. Although it was sort of expensive, 15 bucks worth of coins which you can exchange at the cashier. They have it prepared in a cup for you, which is nice. The food came pretty quick and the food was simple and good. Nothing fancy. Just good and feels homemade. I got the grilled chicken platter and my friend got the heavenly beef with a side of the pandan coco mochi. The chicken was juicy and good and it was covered in a sweet sauce. My friend liked the heavenly beef. It wasn't dry. Each dish came with veggies, rice, and a small cup of like nuoc nam, which is sweet fish sauce with peppers. The pandan coco mochi was especially good. It had fried coconut flakes inside and tasted sweet and savory. Definitely a must try. They have way more desserts that I would come back for. This has become my family's latest go to restaurant. We're fans of the food and desserts. On our first visit, we got the crispy pork belly, grilled steak and steak laab for our entrees. The pork belly was deep fried to perfection, crispy on the outisde with the meat staying tender. I've never had laab before so it was a refreshing new dish for me. It was citrusy with some tang from the onions and little kick from the spicy pepper. After our meal, we ordered the mochi waffle and sticky rice for dessert. The mochi waffle was crunchy with bits of fresh coconut on the inside. The sticky rice was exactly how I liked it especially since the mango was nice and ripe. On my second visit, I got the mochi layers, coco taro cups and strawberry gems. The desserts with great but the drink not so much. It was too sweet and I wasn't a fan of all the toppings. Our family was in town which was an excuse to order almost everything on the menu. We got the pork tapioca, khao piak, laab chicken & steak, grilled chicken & beef, lao sausage and crispy belly. Every dish was a hit, with the standouts being the lao sausage, pork tapioca and khao piak. I'm glad my family is adventurous because I wouldn't have ordered those items. The taro waffles reminded me of grandmas old baking from the southeast customs. The pork belly was crisp and well done. I will have to request hotter pepper dip on next visit though. Probably my favorite local restaurant discovery this year, which I've already revisited several times! Though I'd seen it in passing scrolling thru Yelp, the name and photos initially led me to believe it was a local dessert/boba shop rather than an actual sit-down restaurant. It turns out they actually offer an extensive variety of Laotian and Thai eats, the majority of which are unique street-food style dishes that that would be tough to find anywhere else. My favorite so far is the Lao Sausage-- juicy pork sausages with a fragrant, rich flavor profile consisting of kaffir lime, lemongrass and chili as the primary notes. The desserts here are also super yummy and overall very light and refreshing! While they're all pretty unique, the durian rice is an especially memorable concoction with durian and egg strings atop a bed of fragrant coconut sticky rice that was rich in flavor but not too overwhelming, even to those not yet unaccustomed to durian desserts :^) I would also recommend any of the other ones we've tried so far: -Mango sticky rice: fresh honey mangoes and the coconut cream on top is to die for! -Coco cups: pro tip- get half and half pandan sago and ube taro to try both flavors, equally good and perfect if you just want a tiny bite of something sweet to tie up your meal -Coco cassava: light chewy texture, very refreshing for the palate 5 stars for service -- during our first visit, there was a miscommunication in which we were waiting around for ~20 min for the dessert that we'd ordered, while they were waiting for us to pay (not realizing we were supposed to pay in advance, as we were dining in) but the owner profusely apologized and graciously threw in a complimentary dessert to make up for the situation. I'm already anticipating many more visits here to try more of their desserts as well as their extensive selection of drinks. They offer various flavors of coconut water blends as well as a creamier version with coconut creamer in case you're in the mood for something a lil more indulgent. If southeast Asian street food and light, not-to-sweet desserts are up your alley, highly recommend checking out this cute little family-owned shop! read more

I first learned of this establishment at the World of Dumplings event in SF earlier in 2024. They were serving tapioca dumplings and by the time I was able to order from them, they only had vegan ones left. The vegan tapioca dumplings were so good, I felt like I tag to try the pork version. However, the restaurant is all the way up Sacramento area, so I bookmarked this place with intention to there if I happen to be in the area. Which brings me to this review... We happened to be in the area and stopped by. The restaurant is spacious and clean. It has an interesting set up. The restaurant feels like a blend of a game room (with gacha and boardgames), dessert cafe, tea salon (with various cutely packaged Ukrainian teas), laotian restaurant, and "paint nite" art studio. It's definitely quite interesting. The staff were very friendly. We ordered the papaya salad in Lao style, the pork, tapioca dumplings, the nam khao (crispy rice salad), and coco cassava. Papaya salad was good, definitely stronger in fish sauce flavor than the Thai variation. The pork tapioca dumplings were delicious! They were sweet savory and tasted incredibly similar to the vegan version I had at the dumpling festival. The owner said the seasoning was the same, just the protein was different. Tofu vs pork. The nam khao was interesting. It's a stir fried scorched rice dish containing (nurungi aka guo ba) pieces of pork sausage, peanuts, scallions, fish sauce and other ingredients. You eat it like a taco, with the provided lettuce. The coco cassava was chilled and rolled in shredded coconut. It wasn't too sweet and was tasty. Actually everything we tried was delicious. We were then curious about the various teas on display. We got to try some tea samples and purchased a container of the soursop tea (which was surprisingly light and fruity). The owner brought out 2 pieces of mochi layers (pandan and ube flavored) for us to try to go with our tea. The mochi layers were really pretty. Each layer is steamed one at a time to make this dessert. It was really flavorful and not too sweet as well. Overall, glad we stopped by and finally tried the pork tapioca dumplings. Went for their 8 pieces of steamed layer cakes. The pandan & taro flavors are very tasty, not overpowering & the designs looks very glossy and beautiful in person. The cakes all still had a nice bouncy texture & you can still pull the layers apart. I also bought their laos style papaya and it was not very "laos style". There were many missing ingredients (crab/shrimp paste, padaek, tamarind, etc.). The papaya pretty much tasted like thai style and they just added dark fermented liquid to make it laos style. The menu is so vibrant, clear and easy to read and see what you want with lots of options for food, desserts and drinks. We ordered papaya salad, Lao sausages, pork belly, stir fry basil, khaopoon, and more. All were incredibly fresh and delicious. Our absolute favorite is the Lao sausage. We were able to buy frozen packs of sausages to go as well. They packaged it up nicely for us too so they didn't melt. So juicy and yummy. My mouth is watering as I type. Desserts are to die for. I got the coco gems, purple rice custard and more. Drinks were amazing as well. Now to the staff, such friendly and kind people. From the girl on the register, to the waiters, to the owner, every single person was so sweet. The owner Keo is awesome. We literally became friends with him. I had Cocomilk Cafe bookmarked for a while now and finally got a chance to try it out. My bf and I came in around the evening time, interior and lightning was very subtle. There were tables to dine in, a big menu on the right, and Asian decors. We did not stay for service so we ordered online for take out. Papaya Salad medium spice (bf needed to calm down on his spice): I would give it 6/10. It tasted like it was missing the tamarind paste...or there wasn't enough of it. Also, possibly more crab paste? Crispy Pork Belly: It was dry D: although we had the dipping sauce, which sort of tastes like the sauce you dip Bánh Lọc in, it was still dry...it had a nice crunch and taste but overall, so dry....6/10. Pork Sausages: This was 10/10!! Not dry at all! Definitely recommend getting this. Kaopoon (ahh forgot photo): 6.7/10. We weren't impress but didn't dislike it either. Again, it was missing something. I didn't taste enough coconut milk. The lime leave flavor was missing... Taro Cream Tea: Oh boy, the bobas were hard in the middle...and the taste of the Taro was very powdered flavored...I get it, it's made from Taro powder but the taste was so prominent. 5/10...I would not get this again. Cocomilk Cafe has been on my must try list for awhile due to their stunning presentation alone, so the fact that everything tasted better than it looked speaks volumes. The handmade boba was so soft and velvety, and was the perfect addition to the warmed coco milk that was the right level of sweetness. The purple rice custard was wildly flavorful, the rice was warm while the custard was cool and left you with a lovely, contrasting mouth feel. The custard was so floral, perhaps jasmine? The pandan balls also came warmed and fresh, soft and chewy and filled with toasted coconut. They were sold out of their taro desserts so I will definitely be back to sample those.
