See's is such a classic staple. Greeted with chocolate samples. We originally came in to just look around but the milk chocolate butter cream sample reeled us in immediately. Staff was very helpful and patient when we were carefully choosing our options. The store was clean and festive ready for Halloween. They now have many sugar free chocolates and hard candy options. 12 chocolate box cost us around $20 but for the quality and rich chocolate flavors it was worth it! I love See's and needed a pick-me-up .. it's only Tuesday- I know ! It's one of those weeks. I picked up a total of 4 pieces. Toffee and pecan Bon Bon for $5 bucks and some change. It was worth it! I got my small bag and the goodies didn't make it to the car. I don't have self control, reason why I only bought 4 pieces! I often buy boxes of chocolates from here to send to my potential laws in Minnesota. They love them! Happy they've survived while everyone else closed around them at this mall. While I try to not think about all the stores closing in the mall I'm so glad I still have See's to drown my sorrows. I usually hit this place on my way in so I can enjoy my chocolate as I shop! I tend to park outside Macy's and walk in through the entrance of Penney's...seems quicker to me. Who knows if it is. LOL Sometimes their clerks will do the usual "HIIIIIII WELCOME!" scream as I walk in - #StopIt - but that seems to be happening less and less. They've been flexible too when I tell them my sample piece can't have nuts or chewy caramel. I usually always ask for my Butterscotch square as my sample and then buy one piece. While this place has a lot of nostalgia value to me as a place some of my relatives go to yearly to pick up some chocolate for Christmas gifts, the price of these chocolates is absurd. Just get Russell Stover for $20 ($10 if on sale or buy one get one free at $10). I personally think Russell Stover tastes a lot better. read more

See's marzipan candies will make me smile any day. This store makes me smile as well. We visited this store the other day looking for a quick snack while Christmas shopping in the Pacific View Mall in Ventura. You have to remember everyone else was shopping for Christmas presents as well. If you do not really know what to get someone half of the time you end up here at See's Candies. If there is one thing the whole world loves is good candy. They have added a second location at a kiosk location near the front of the mall just for the busy season. Even with this second location the regular location was still really busy when we arrived. There were maybe 5 or 6 parties in front of us and the employees who worked here were doing a really good job of managing the line and being respectful while managing that line. What really made me smile was that when our time in line arrived we were helped by a friendly woman who worked there who asked if I wanted a sample of something. I explained that I already knew that I wanted some of their marzipan candies. She explained that it was awesome that I knew what I already wanted but that I still could get a sample of something. She asked again if I wanted something for free and I explained that I really liked my marzipan and would be completely happy with just that flavor and she smiled and put an extra one in my bag and said "Well I guess you get a sample of your favorite one". For some odd reason I thought that was really cute. I like this store...I love their candies. Good combo. :0) read more

This is the store in the Mall. I stopped in on a whim and because they had an advertisement for caramel apple scotchmallows in the window. I was given a free sample and bought about $40 worth of chocolates. Loved them all, as did my husband. Staff was very friendly and upbeat and the store was clean and well stocked. I wasn't able to buy the specialty mallows individually but the bag was fine since I enjoy them enough to eat lots of them. I'd come here again. read more

I like how they have streamlined the store so that if you are buying a wrapped box, you do not have to stand in line with people ordering specialty assortments, you simply go to the friendly person at the register. Even better, Yelp and some advertisements are offering a 5 dollar off coupon until Dec. 12 if you buy over $35, which is not hard to do, since a two pound box of nuts and chews is $37. Sees is the best when it comes to candy, but their online service is what has made it stand out during the pandemic. From what I have heard from people I buy it for, they deliver so nicely. I was hesitant in this heat wave, but they deliver with ice packs and take extra care so it's no problem. So far, they have been excellent at delivering for my friends and family. Yes, sees is very expensive, but you get what you pay for, and their candy is delicious and high quality. The in- store employees could be a little bit friendlier, but online ordering is excellent. I hope their able to reopen soon, but until then don't hesitate to order online. read more

I asked my wife if she wanted a box of "nuts and chews" for her birthday? She said no the last 3 times you bought them the candies were stale, old chocolate ( when it turns white) and had 4 of the same in a variety box. Very disappointed. See's Candy in the mall is such a wonderful place... and I really have to say that the lady working in there in the morning about 4-days before Christmas had patience like I have never seen. Some jerk came in, tried to cut in line, yelled at the people working there for not helping him and taking so long then threw a full box of chocolates, screamed "FUCK YOU" and stormed out. The lady working there just calmly told the guy the entire time he was ranting and cursing that he would have to wait his turn since there were quite a few of us that had been waiting in line already... I don't know how she managed to stay so calm and polite... I wouldn't have been able to. Anyhow, their service is always super slow - but that is really more the fault of the people picking the chocolates out than the ladies packaging them. Their chocolate is tasty... albeit overpriced. This particular location has an employee who is worth writing about. Her name is Nancy S. The store was very crowded, but she was kind, personable, funny and made everyone feel welcome. This is the best chocolate candy store in Ventura! Sees high quality has remained a priority since they opened their original store in downtown Los Angeles in 1921. No question that It still tastes the same since I was a kid in the early 60s. Try to stop in when MELISSA, ALEX, MANDY or any of the ladies there for that matter are working. The only thing that sucks about this place is that it's in the mall, and there is at times a VERY long line, but hey this place is worth it.
