They make these bars on the spot, and it's taken no more than 15 minutes each time I've come (and perfect views of the harbor while you wait!). Great for gifts or as a sweet treat. Also really enjoy their chocolate dipped oreos here, which was actually how I discovered this place. This is a unique chocolate shop located in the heart of Ventura Harbor. They offer customized chocolate. I arrived early and there were a couple other yelpers besides me . This is a terrific chocolate shop where you can buy pre made off the shelf or customize your own bars bags and cookies . They have more toppings than I've ever seen . It smells amazing in the store (think Willy Wonka ) . You can make your own bar as they have liquid choclate ready to go in white dark or milk . at the shop i tried a small bowl of the liquid chocolate with pistachios and it was so yummy , you have to eat this fast as it does solidify in the breeze outside . I had a little difficulty finding the store because i wasn't familiar with Ventura harbor but now I've got the neighborhood down, I'll be back to get some treats for friend birthdays ! I was literally the first person at Top This Chocolate for the Yelp Elite Event. I took pics of the outside so that others can find it because according to one of the employees there, they have been in business for 4 years! I have walked right by this store numerous times, & have absolutely no memory of it. Once inside, the store is absolutely adorable! I love that they had a huge sign that lets you know the process of "building your own chocolate bar" with white chocolate, milk chocolate & dark chocolate & 50 topping to choose from! The staff is so warm, friendly & welcoming! They'll greet you once you walk in the door. It's clean, well designed & there is a display wall with tons of pre-made chocolate bars & candies to choose from. Right when I was greeted & then I informed them I was there for the Yelp Elite Event, the girl behind the counter presented me with a pre-made exclusive Yelp chocolate bar! It was so cute, complete with the Yelp logo & gummy bears. She told me I get to build my own chocolate bar, so I picked dark chocolate, pecans, rice crispies & toffee bits. It takes about 8 mins to completely set. So while I waited I ordered a hot chocolate & also got salt water taffy for my hubby. My build-a-bar was so cute & I was so excited to write this review so that others may know about this place! My mind was going wild thinking about all the custom gifts I can create here for special occasions! I thoroughly enjoyed the process & my time there. A definitely sweet addition to Ventura Harbor Village! The Harbor is one of our often-visited Ventura Country destinations, especially when it's hot inland and we just want some fresh oceanside air. This past summer of 2022 that's been a real need. We tried out Top This Chocolate several months ago when it was just Dear Hubby and me so that we had time to create our own chocolate bar recipes. I had just started to go with a non-dairy diet at the time, so it was great to see that they had dark chocolate and other vegan options I could try. Sara B. does a great job of explaining how the process works. You can buy pre-made bars, covered Oreo cookies, and other ready-to-go items. OR, you can become a creator of your own special chocolate bar, with one of their "Chocologists" to do the molding for you. You choose the kind of chocolate for the base, then have a grand old time trying to narrow down the topping ingredients that you want for the finished bar. The staff is happy to answer questions, make suggestions, and whip up your selection. I enjoyed my chocolate bar for several days thereafter, as an after-lunch dessert. The quality of the base was excellent, and all the toppings were fresh and yummy, too. A-plus chocolate bar! Recently, we had our Sweet (toddler) Granddaughter with us. She didn't have the patience to wait for making a bar, so we got the covered Oreos and sat out on their patio watching the boats and the people go by. I love making custom chocolate bars as gifts for family and friends and they have been really well received! I love their pre packaged 6 square baggies - the dark chocolate with dried cherries and dark chocolate with toffee and caramel pearls are my favorites! This is such a unique shop. Highlight of the shops at Ventura Harbor for me. You pick your chocolate base and then you get 4 toppings to choose from. The "Chocologist" then fills the bar into a plastic mold and places your toppings on top. Then she places it in a cooling chamber that takes about 10 min to be ready. I chose milk chocolate base, with mint chips, coffee beans and oreo cookies. Sooo good! Entrance to this eclectic and interesting little shop presents a varied and unique visual. Multiple displays of different ways chocolate can be presented and accessorized. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Options for chocolate accessories we're more than I can count initially. I went for a cup as a dark chocolate base with bacon bits and spicy mango pieces. Oh my OMG! This is the best chocolate factory I've ever seen. It is basically a you design it they build it custom chocolate store. It's clean, cute and right on the harbor. It's large and the kids love making their own bars. You can also add chocolate letters spelling names and phrases in the bar. You pick your toppings, they then pour fresh milk, dark or white chocolate in a mold and add your toppings. Then they put it 8 minutes into a cooler and oila! Custom bar for you They also have ready made bars and variously topped chocolate available for a little less expensive than if you make it in the spot. I bought a hot cocoa bomb to try. It was my first time coming here but knew pretty much right away what i wanted but it took time to order since this place is very popular. They have a long window where you're able to watch the chocolate making workers fulfill orders and it's very mesmerizing. You can customize what you want or can purchase already made goodies. I ordered the custom mini chocolate squares since it's easier to eat and they have a couple tables outside for you to enjoy your sweet treat if you want. This is a cute little shop at the Harbor! You get to make your own chocolate bar, which basically is a WIN-WIN whichever way you slice it. Of course, they're all wearing a mask and require that you put one on to enter their store. (It's located next to the scuba diving place). I haven't taken the jump yet to actually DO the custom; I have had just minimal time the few times I went in and bought a little chocolate, and I mean "little". :) It was a square, white chocolate, with crushed pretzels on it. Their little sample items have all flavors of chocolate: dark, milk, white, with a variety of toppings. I would imagine each day/week it might change depending on what sells or what is popular. This chocolate store is such a fun concept and experience. You can buy pre-made confections and bats but it's much more fun to make your own! My daughter was super excited to have them mix some of her favorite snacks into one bar: gummy bears, goldfish crackers, Froot Loops! I know, sounds like a very strange combination but it was actually very good! Their chocolate itself is made with such quality that you could probably put anything in with it and it would taste good! While it is pretty pricey for a chocolate bar (around $12-14) we splurged on this and it still tastes fresh a month later because we keep it in our fridge. I was glad to see the chocolatier was helpful, because originally i was just looking. I read some of the reviews and heard they were a little pricey. After being sold on the freshness, the chocolatier had me at chocolate. I purchased a cup of chocolate with 2 toppings for $6 ($5 for the chocolate and .50 cents for each topping. It was like walking into a chocolate fountain store, I purchased the toppings and was in heaven. The reason for 4/5 stars I was hoping for small pieces/ slices of cheesecake, cake, as though I was at a chocolate fountain. The store had plenty of toppings to choose from, but I wanted a few more interesting toppings. If you know this area, the prices are high because of the extra taxes for the beach. read more

This is a fun store centered around you customizing a bar of chocolate with a large variety of possible add-ins. I always just buy the pre-made squares. The chocolate is very tasty and the toppings are always fresh. Store is clean and the staff are always friendly and upbeat when I visit. Only downside is the price, which seems too high to me.
