Seafood alfreado
Vern W.

Super nice restaurant that I never knew existed until a friend told me about it. First off, this place stands out from many of the other restaurants in the area simply because they are offering a food profile not common to the area. That being said. Everything was amazing. Walked In to a nicely decorated, very clean, and welcoming dinning area. We were immediately greeted by happy staff and seated. Menu items we were unfamiliar with were explained to us and the bread we were given was delicious. Our food was perfectly prepared and served quickly. We had the honey barbecue sampler and the seafood Alfredo. Both delicious. I have not really ever had "blackened" seasoned food before but it brought both smokey and spicy flavors that were on point. I highly recommend trying this place if you have never been.

Blackened Shrimp with Andouille Sausage over a specially requested creamy Cajun/Creole pasta! 10/10 recommend!

I made a special request because I was craving a hearty and flavorful Cajun pasta instead of the basic pasta dishes you get in Danville. I ordered a Blackened Shrimp and added Andouille Sausage over a specially requested creamy Cajun/Creole pasta! Also ordered Blackened chicken with andouille sausage and creamy Cajun pasta. 10/10 recommend! It was packed with so much flavor! The creamy Cajun/creole sauce is not on the menu but the chef made it anyway! First non-basic pasta I've had in Danville. I'm definitely going back for this! Maybe if enough people order it, they'll add it to the menu!

Are you in NEPA trying to find any semblance of Cajun food? This is probably your one and only option. Honest opinion from my first visit? They are doing a stellar job! I need to start this by saying. Don't let the ratings for this place fool you! It really is worth a shot if you are in to this type of food. I find it VERY odd that the worst review on this page is because someone didn't like having to make a reservation because "Applebee's doesn't make you do that." I am severely concerned that they don't even know why that is so freaking hilarious. As for the service, it was very kind and attentive even though it was a relatively steady pace of customers. Now onto the food! To be in this part of PA and have the Cajun place making some darn good takes on classic New Orleans style cooking is awesome. I love a good Crawfish bake and these were some tasty river lobsters! They weren't overly spicy and didn't feel bogged down with water. The seasoning was on point, cook time was as well. The blackened shrimp and linguine was also phenomenal. It had a great flavor that wasn't overpowering and let the oil on the noodles still come through. Great depth of flavor. Was able to a few bites of the crab cakes and of the scallop creole. They were both brilliantly prepared as well. Can't wait to return for more! Hope you try as well! You won't regret it!

Bacon Wrapped Scallops!

My family and I (party of 5) had a wonderful dinner there recently with Nino as our server. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered us some great recommendations. We enjoyed calamari, bacon wrapped scallops, and crab stuffed mushrooms to start. I was pleasantly surprised that the calamari was paired with both a marinara and sweet chili sauce. Our entrees were all delicious and we would definitely go back!

The Cajun seafood sampler was really quite delicious. It's a shame it gave me food poisoning.

Food was OK, not Mardi gras-esque. More diner fare for a small town. Service both times was slow but they were nice.

The beer selection and interior design were more impressive than the food…read more Both beers we ordered were poured well and had good citrus and hoppy notes. No complaints there. Besides the staple menu, there was a rotating menu featuring a soup, mussel dish, flatbread, burger, and pasta. The food took some time to come out, and everything was rather bland across the board. The interior was decorated nicely for the holidays though. *Hummus Platter: a huge shareable for $10. The crispy naan resembled the Costco version but fried. The naan itself worked well as a base for the hummus, although the hummus was neither smooth nor flavorful. There was no fragrance from the chickpeas, and it tasted rather unseasoned. The selection of peppers, carrots, and cucumbers was decent. *Garlic Butter Mussels: their monthly mussel dish. The mussels were cooked well and coated in a one dimensional sauce. The sweet wine was cooked down with lots of garlic, while the butter was subtle. I wished there had been a bit more toasted baguette to balance the one pound of seafood. Note there is a 3% credit card surcharge. I could not find this listed on their menu and but I saw the charge on my receipt. I enjoyed the few beers I had, and the food was acceptable for a bar. With some improvement to the flavors, this could be a worthwhile visit for a bite and a drink.

The fries were crispy on the outside but still fluffy on the inside. They were dry service was good not many people in the restaurant for lunch. It was a Tavern type of decor. My only issue was the beer cheese. It tasted too much like beer. The beer flavor was definitely over powering. The other special sauce wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. A typical thousand island type of sauce. But over all it was pretty solid. I would comeback and try something else.

I'm surprised this shows in yelp with a rating of 4 since it is absolutely not a 4…read more Food - frozen patties that are below grade. Hot dog bun that was 2 pieces like you find with cheap buns. Ketchup is some 3rd rate knock off brand. Service - the 2 that are working are busy but the waiter has a hard time keeping up. Soda could use a refill, maybe a straw with my drink, silverware came later. This isn't a 5 star place so service was as you should expect. 3 star Value/Price - 2 stars. $3.99 for a fountain drink. $1.25 to add cheese to the 3 oz burger? I think for the price you could get better quality food at a chain like chilis, fridays, or other. When i saw this place I thought it might be something like the red rabbit i duncannon PA but it isn't even close. I am sure it is a good breakfast place for standard egg fare I doubt I would go back

An entrance to the diner area is on the left side of the building. The diner runs front to back. There is a small counter seating area by the door with most of the room being booths. Four seater booths on the left and two seaters on the right and at the back. A TV in the back corner was showing fox news on a very loud volume. The waitress was very friendly. They offer canned beers and fruity malt beverages that are made into slushies along with sodas. The menu offers a variety of options and being on the road for several days we came for their dinner salad offerings. The salads are quite large and the greens fresh. Plenty of protein on there. The chicken ceaser came lightly dressed with warm chunks of chicken breast over the top. The warm chicken did wilt the greens a bit. Perhaps placing the warm chicken around the edges of the salad instead of on top would prevent that? Chunk light tuna is used in their tuna salad and I opted for no additional dressing on my salad greens as the tuna salad is enough dressing for my taste. Their tuna salad has a mild taste; nothing surprising in there (that's a good thing). Inside was quite warm on a cold December evening. Service and food were good. There is a private parking lot. Located on a busy road it may take a moment to exit or enter.

So a "real time" review as I am sitting at the bar awaiting a replacement order…read more It is hard to describe the burger I was served. It was way over cooked but that was not a full description. In addition to being charred beyond well done it was also very dense.... Definitely not a coarse grind. The combination was a patty that was inedible. Ate less than 1/4. Why not a worse rating? The female barkeep was so attentive and on top of it that it was still a decent meal. Happily replaced it with a 1/2 dozen wings which were very good.

This one takes the cake & costs the Hilltop any repeat business from us. The pictures are SUPPOSED to be of the 8oz Haddock Dinner for $18.99 & the French onion soup for $4.99. The fork in the picture is for reference only as the food was completely inedible. Sadly, we ordered it all to-go & didn't realize it was all terrible until home (over 1/2 hr away). The haddock dinner was burnt, not 8oz OR haddock & it was missing the lemon butter/bread crumb topping as described on the menu but had an abundance of paprika. I believe they switched the haddock dinner order with another paprika haddock dish on the menu - but conveniently forgot to lower the price. The French onion soup was a cup of broth. No croutons or Swiss cheese in it or on the side, as described on the menu. Sadly, this was take-out & we never looked until we got home (over 1/2 hour away). All over-priced as all inedible. Totally feel cheated. Email with pictures sent to management - received absolutely no response.
