What a great restaurant!! It truly feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, but as soon as you step inside, you're instantly transported to New Orleans. The menu is fantastic -- there's something for every palate! They offer a nice selection of New Orleans-inspired dishes along with plenty of other delicious-sounding options. The atmosphere is lively and has a welcoming local vibe. The parking lot was packed when we arrived, and there was an event happening in their back party room, yet we were seated right away. The owner, Brian, is very hands-on and makes a point to visit each table, which is such a nice touch. I had the jambalaya, and it was excellent! I stopped on here for an early dinner about 5pm. The outside is pretty plain, but the inside is very nice. Black linen tablecloths, beads on the tables, candlelight and a festive Mardi Gras vibe throughout. I sat in the dining area, many people came for the bar while I was there. The waiter was excellent. I asked for recommendations and he told me a few, shared about the special and shared the daily sides. He checked on me often enough, but didn't overdo it. Very professional. I ordered the Mardi Gras Shrimp and Crawfish with rice. There was plenty of protein in the dish - it also includes sausage and the cream sauce was amazing. I loved it. I also ordered a cup of red beans and rice to go to enjoy tomorrow for lunch. The house salad is pretty basic, but the housemade cajun ranch dressing is delicious. Order it! Note I did order my salad with no tomato. I was also offered bread service but declined. I would definitely come back again - would love to try a blackened seafood dish. read more

The food was subpar and while the "dive bar" ambiance is charming in some cases, it actually felt very standoffish to me. The staff was not particularly friendly. They weren't rude, but definitely not inviting. The meals tasted like something my daughter could have made when she was 6. The crab dip tasted like someone dumped a can of crab in a bowl and then melted cheese over it. The Mardi Gras pasta tasted like a TV dinner, but the budgetiest of the budget ones, not even a top of the line TV dinner. The beer was good, that's about it. read more

Super nice restaurant that I never knew existed until a friend told me about it. First off, this place stands out from many of the other restaurants in the area simply because they are offering a food profile not common to the area. That being said. Everything was amazing. Walked In to a nicely decorated, very clean, and welcoming dinning area. We were immediately greeted by happy staff and seated. Menu items we were unfamiliar with were explained to us and the bread we were given was delicious. Our food was perfectly prepared and served quickly. We had the honey barbecue sampler and the seafood Alfredo. Both delicious. I have not really ever had "blackened" seasoned food before but it brought both smokey and spicy flavors that were on point. Server was great, kept our drinks full... but the wait for food seemed like forever. 2 of the 5 of us got appetizers which came out rather quickly, but then about a 30 minute wait for salads for everyone, then another hour wait for our entrees... I ordered a Blackened Shrimp and added Andouille Sausage over a specially requested creamy Cajun/Creole pasta! Also ordered Blackened chicken with andouille sausage and creamy Cajun pasta. 10/10 recommend! It was packed with so much flavor! The creamy Cajun/creole sauce is not on the menu but the chef made it anyway! First non-basic pasta I've had in Danville. I'm definitely going back for this! Are you in NEPA trying to find any semblance of Cajun food? This is probably your one and only option. Honest opinion from my first visit? They are doing a stellar job! I need to start this by saying. Don't let the ratings for this place fool you! It really is worth a shot if you are in to this type of food. I find it VERY odd that the worst review on this page is because someone didn't like having to make a reservation because "Applebee's doesn't make you do that." I am severely concerned that they don't even know why that is so freaking hilarious. As for the service, it was very kind and attentive even though it was a relatively steady pace of customers. Now onto the food! To be in this part of PA and have the Cajun place making some darn good takes on classic New Orleans style cooking is awesome. I love a good Crawfish bake and these were some tasty river lobsters! They weren't overly spicy and didn't feel bogged down with water. The seasoning was on point, cook time was as well. The blackened shrimp and linguine was also phenomenal. It had a great flavor that wasn't overpowering and let the oil on the noodles still come through. Great depth of flavor. Was able to a few bites of the crab cakes and of the scallop creole. They were both brilliantly prepared as well. Can't wait to return for more! Hope you try as well! You won't regret it! read more

My family and I (party of 5) had a wonderful dinner there recently with Nino as our server. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered us some great recommendations. We enjoyed calamari, bacon wrapped scallops, and crab stuffed mushrooms to start. I was pleasantly surprised that the calamari was paired with both a marinara and sweet chili sauce. The service was great, we had a waiter and he was top notch and personable. The girlfriend had a broiled seafood platter and said it was very good , I had the Cajun Burrito. Lord, it was huge ,hot and filled with steak, chicken ,shrimp and rice. Very good and I brought half home for lunch today. Oh My God!!!! What a wonderful surprise this was trying this restaurant. We've been here 3 times. The first two times were outstanding. We had Delmonico steak and crab legs. This is the place to go if you want an excellent steak. I will caution you, however. If you go, go on a weekend. Food is better. The last time we went, it was a Wednesday night. They must have a different cook depending on the day of the week. The crab legs were good but, the steak was not as good. Oh, and our server was completely "baked". However he did an okay job. This is my 1st time here after driving past it many times. Came here after a friend said the food here and service were excellent and my friend was right! I came here with my mom and we both enjoyed it. She got crab cakes and I got crawfish stuffed mushrooms and crawfish and shrimp over linguini! We each had a beer. Our waiter was very nice and gave us a lot of great info about the menu! This place does have reservations but we came here shortly after they opened so we had no problem getting a table! I came here a few years back with friends and had a great experience with delicious food and good service and while I had hoped to come back after I didn't have the opportunity. However recently we got take out and had a horrible experience! When I went to pick up the food I heard loud screaming from the kitchen which made me slightly concerned about what was going on back there but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. We had requested multiple dishes with a special sauce the chef had previously made for my friend @shetalW and New Orleans Nacho (no meat listed on the menu in the description), rice and bean (no meat listed on the menu in the description) and a vegetarian creole pasta. When we opened our food there was NO SAUCE AT ALL in any of the dishes. The nachos and the rice beans both had meat. And here is the real kicker - the vegetarian dish had 1 price of sausage ! Does that mean 1 piece of cooked sausage fell in or did they pick out the meat out of dish and forget that 1 piece? Either way they clearly do not understand what vegetarian means and can't be culturally sensitive enough to identify their vegetarian items on their menu. If this is what they are doing for a vegetarian dish - what else are they putting in our food? What else are they lying about?! We did call and complain and after a lengthy discussion they agreed to refund our entire purchase. Regardless I will never be going back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either! read more

I've never been to New Orleans. I've never tried "real" cajun cooking, and some people I know who have like to talk down Reichart's Mardi Gras. To hell with them. I may not be a jet-setting gourmand, but my taste buds know what they like. And if the establishment in question gives me plenty of said yummy food at a reasonable price, and serves decent beer, there's not much left to improve upon. That said, this place is my first choice when somebody's foolish/generous enough to say, "wanna go out to eat? My treat!". If you're just looking for lunch or a light meal, they've got this killer crawfish sandwich. If you've got the stomach for it, add a little of their homemade hot sauce (given out upon request). If you're looking to wreck your gastric bypass surgery, this is the right place for that as well.. For $20 you can choose from a decent selection of steak, chicken and seafood entrees, and for my money, it's either the blackened sampler (shrimp, chicken, scallops) or the barry's burrito (roughly the size of a healthy infant, stuffed to bursting with steak, seafood, and rice). The wait staff and bartenders are friendly enough, but as good as the food is, they could spit on me and insult my mother to my face while I'm eating and I wouldn't mind a bit. Seidel's Mardi Gras is probably one of the few Cajun themed restaurants you'll find in NEPA. It's actually the second time I've eaten here. The first time it was still Reichart's Mardi Gras. My first experience was neither great nor horrible, just OK. Since I found myself in Danville and the restaurant looked like it changed ownership, I thought I would go to see if anything changed. The food was much better than I remember from my last visit. My wife got a paella special ($22.99) which was quite large with a lot of mussels, some chicken and some clams. It was very good. I got a Cajun dish called Mardi Gras Shrimp and Crawfish. ($19.99). It also had Andouille sausage and was covered with a Cajun cream sauce. I got it over rice, but in hindsight, it might have been better over pasta. It was delicious none the less and very filling with lots of seafood. As an app we got crawfish stuffed mushrooms ($7.99) which were a nice change from the standard crab stuffed mushrooms. Overall, I have to say the portions weren't bad and the food was really good. For the two of us, an app, 2 soups, 2 salads (1 glass of wine with 2 club sodas) and two satisfying entrées, the $70 tab seemed fair. I have to admit, much like some other reviews, that there is something funky with the water, even the club soda (which I'm sure was watered down a bit) seemed off. But they didn't charge for refills, which is always nice. I would not go out of my way or travel specifically to Danville for Seidel's Mardi Gras, but I wouldn't drive right by if I was in the area again. read more

Went in for Mardi Gras. We had a big group and the place was filled with big groups. They had a special menu for the occasion that had mainly "New Orleans" favorites. I ordered boulibasse, which is usually a soup, this came as a thick gloppy mess over French bread. It also had scallops on it, which most people would like but I cannot eat since I'm allergic to them (interestingly enough scallops happen to be one of the most common shelfish allergies). I would not have ordered this if they had put on the menu that there were scallops in this dish! Our waitress was very nice and attentive (perhaps overly so, is that possible?), however the food was very slow getting to our table. Also the water tasted awful. A band was advertised to start playing at 6pm however they didn't go on until about 8, which was fine with me because once they did, it was so loud that you couldn't even hear yourself think!! I've been looking forward to this since I found out there was a place in town called "Mardi Gras". Not what I was hoping for. read more

Hate this place. The service has always been extremely slow. I lived in the deep south for two years and the food at this place is nowhere near the quality of anyplace near New Orleans. I got a cajun chicken breast here that was just caked in store-bought cajun spices on both sides. No flavor, just overly intense burning from all the spices. Even the more American food like their burgers is just below average. If you want to get poor service and below average food masquerading as cajun, then this is the place to go. read more

We enjoy Mardi Gras weekly usually. We find they serve the best seafood locally. Service is sometimes slower depending on the crowd but the food has always been good. The staff friendly and attentive. The only down side is the water is awful. I have actually carried in my own bottled water. I wish they would fix this issue. Not bad but not great. Went there with my wife on Sunday night. Salads were mundane, bread was nothing special. I ordered the blackened Cajun sampler with scallops, shrimp and chicken. Cajun spice was very good. Shrimp and hi ken were good but scallops were over cooked and mushy. My wife ordered the broiled seafood sampler which had shrimp, scallops, fish and a crab cake.
