The decor and color palette create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. We started our evening in the speakeasy. It's on the smaller side, which I enjoy--as long as I can grab a seat! Otherwise, I might wish for just a bit more space. Once seated, our server struck the perfect balance: attentive, friendly, and incredibly patient while we took our time deciding. Ventured into West Chester (we love this town) on a mission for cake and decided to stay for brunch. Excitedly anticipated reservations at West Chester Seafood Kitchen and our stay out stood the expectations. Oh what fun it is to brunch!!! We arrived with 10:30am reservations, arrived and were promptly seated in the middle of the dining room. This place has so much space! The tables are proportioned about well and love the long bench seating opposed from the kitchen window. Decor is tidy and of modern aesthetic ocean vibes. Everything complemented, including the floor pattern - which I obsessed over, lol. Absolutely adored the built in and all the nautical knick knacks. Our waitress was a doll. Charming, attentive and spoke with great eye contact. We decided on eats and a mid morning cocktail. I had the standard espresso martini and my husband tried one of peanut butter variety. Both deep in espresso flavor and not too sweet. Oysters to start. A half dozen of 3 varieties. So wonderful to be able to select a few kinds to sample. We enjoyed them all. Very clean and super fresh. My husband loves horseradish, so it was so nice they offered their standard cocktail sauce with extra. The mini Tabasco sauce we had to take home as memento. Brunch entrees- my husband went part poultry and I kept true to seafood. He had first the Clam Chowder. Lumps of clam and a mid-cream broth. Nice balance of stock and cream. Potatoes did not overtake. This was light but hearty. He dove into those Chicken and Waffles with delight. A savory waffle - how can you not love. And the honey jalapeño butter, I found as much as I could to dip into. Chicken was most and crisp. Hitting all the texture and flavors- sweet, spicy, crunchy with this dish. Delicious. Now my Lobster Roll- LOBSTER!!!! This was incredible. I ate the whole damn thing. The roll was toasty and buttery. The lobster was juicy and plentiful, it was allowed to stand on its own. Didn't push up on too much mayo, or celery, or tarragon. Let the seafood shine - and it did!! The fries were hand cut, and freshly fried. Only critique was the slaw. It was just there. Would recommend to nix it. It didn't add to the dish. This Lobster Roll I will keep in my thoughts of how I am now tainted against all others. Wonderfully done. Dined here for the first time on a Monday and really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is very nice, bright and airy, and with a great corner location looking out on Gay Street. The big square bar is also inviting. We were seated promptly and our server, who was fun and charming, came over right away. We had cocktails: a smoked "new" fashioned and a "Hugo", a prosecco based drink. Both lovely. For dinner we had the barramundi and the crab cakes and both were very good. We split the chocolate peanut butter cake for dessert and that was also nice. While not a part of the restaurant, I have to mention the downstairs "speakeasy", named 109. It is worth checking out. Dark and club like, but also decorated in various pop ups. Right now it's Valentine's themed. Fun. Overall a very enjoyable evening. read more

Fourth time tonight and everything has been great! The bar service was a little backed up but our server let us know to go ahead and put in apps. The spicy salmon appetizer was SO good. Highly recommend, may have been my favorite thing. The scallops were fantastic as usual. My brother said the lobster roll was average but I always really like it. This year we decided to stay in the suburbs for my birthday dinner rather than pay for expensive parking in Philly. We decided to sit outdoors as the restaurant has a few sections in the front sectioned off with palm trees although inside looked lively and fun too. Our server asked us if we were celebrating anything, and my family told her it was my birthday. I really appreciated her asking! My daughter and I started with a delicious cocktail. I had the Silver Spritz made with Bulltown Vodka and Aperol. My daughter enjoyed a Salt Aire and loved the hint of cucumber. For dinner, my husband ordered Marinated Roasted Airline Chicken Breast which he said was tasty, and my daughter loved the Tuna Poke although she said it was spicy. Fortunately, we had two carafes of water on our table. I ordered the Pan Seared Barramundi which was a large piece of barramundi along with scallops, shrimp, and middleneck clams. The broth and baby potatoes which accompanied it were delicious, and I ended up using a spoon to enjoy each bite with broth. I didn't know my husband had asked for a candle in our dessert. If I had, i would have ordered dessert. However, our lovely server brought over complimentary Prosecco to end our meal. A classy touch! read more

I loved this place!! 10 of us came here the morning after my wedding (out of town friends- their first time in West Chester) our server was wonderful. He was so helpful, kind, and patient with us. We got a ton of food, apps, and alcohol. Our server asked if it was a special occasion and gave all of us a champagne toast. The bloody marys here were wonderful! All of the food was fantastic too. Charming new location in the borough of West Chester. Located inside the new Indigo hotel across the town parking deck is a newish restaurant right on Gay Street. Nicely decorated and large venue with huge bar with plenty of stools for happy hour seating. We got oysters to start all yummy. The fish special was well executed and beautifully served. This is hands down the best restaurant in West Chester! Consistently excellent food, drinks, ambience, and service. The bar is a rectangle wrap-around bar (not many of these in WC) which makes socializing easy and relaxing at the bar nice. They recently opened an outdoor seating area for the summer as well. There is a speakeasy in the basement of the building (under the indigo hotel) too. The seafood is VERY fresh, definitely recommend the Tuna Poke bowl, spicy salmon app, and the seafood tower. read more

This is our current favorite in west Chester with Pietros being a close second. Every fish dish we've had so far has been spectacular. They clam chowder may be one of the best I've had. The mixed drinks are made with precision and taste great (recommend the fat washed smoked old fashioned). The bananas foster has been a staple dessert for us each visit. Service is always consistently good and for great ambiance, there's a cool speakeasy in the basement below. read more

My husband and I have been here twice (we leave the kids at home with a babysitter for this restaurant). The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable from the hosts/servers/managers. I am obsessed with the spicy salmon crispy rice appetizer. The calamari is good too. I usually go for one of the fish specials. They seem to always be changing, but are always great. My husband got the seared tuna. It was a nice portion and the fish was melt in your mouth. This time I got the crab cake. It was good, but I would probably stick with the fish specials from now on. Was a very slow Monday night . A small group at the bar. The food was overall good/ decent . Drinks were fine . The slow , inattentive service was a hard pill to swallow . It's one thing if a place is slammed & you get poor service. It's another subject when you continually have to flag down a person to repeatedly ask for basic items/ refills/etc . It will be a while before returning . We have been here many times . The atmosphere is pleasant , reminds me of a Legal Seafoods type place . For other patrons , I hope this was an isolated night . Food was great, the only negative thing I have to say, is they don't offer bread at the table, and we ordered the crab dip which doesn't come with enough enough bread to eat the dip, then charged us for more bread! Accommodating and delicious! We were meeting friends and there was a mixup with the reservation. It was a beautiful Saturday night and they offered outdoor seating, which was great! Our waiter, Reid, was very attentive and fun - we are a fun-loving group and he was right there with us! The drink menu is inventive - Kentucky Manhattan and the Anjou pear drinks were excellent and the espresso martini was pretty (how did they do that?). The Firecracker shrimp and spicy salmon starters were equally tasty, and we all enjoyed our entrees of cioppino, lobster bucatini, crab cake and an ahi tuna special. We had reservations for over a week for our anniversary. They sat us at a high top table right next to the bar which is exactly where we were having drinks while waiting. Very loud. Asked the hostess if we could have a actual table and the manager said we can wait for a table.. Which would be another hour which puts us close to closing time for the restaurant. My spouse said we may as well leave so the manger nods his head like ok. Well at that point it was time to leave with treatment and the disrespect to her for not trying to accommodate the situation. BTW There were other tables available but they didn't want to sit us there because it was a table for 4. Ridiculous. So we walked out after words with the manager who thinks losing a customer is no big deal as long as he can turn as many people as possible in one night. Needless to say we went somewhere else and they made accommodations for us regardless of them being just as busy as the seafood kitchen. Hats of to the manager for making what should have been a special evening one that turned out even better for having dinner somewhere else at an establishment that has been there way longer than the seafood kitchen. Not one to leave a bad review but this place deserves it for the manager who followed us out as we left trying to intimidate me. Never going back. Hopefully everyone can learn from this post to make sure you reserve a table and not a table top. The table tops are not big enough for multiple plates. Sad. If I could do zero I would. Saturday 4/9 for brunch. Sat at the bar. Just a few people in the restaurant, 2 bartenders. Ordered a brunch platter and a lobster roll. Not sure if the bartender forgot to put in my lobster roll but it never came. Bartender apologized and said the kitchen went on break at the same time. Guess he thought it was my first time in a restaurant. I told him to cancel the order. He said he would take care of it and make it to go. 15 minutes later as we were leaving he comes out with a bag and says please take it with you. I said I'm good give it to someone else. My wife and I had a really great meal a few nights ago at West Chester Seafood Kitchen. It far surpassed our expectations. I had the sesame crusted ahi tuna special which was seared perfectly, moist and tender. And my wife enjoyed the crabcakes which we agreed were some of the best we had ever tasted. And, we were seated outside across the street from an excellent musician - a lucky bonus. And I have to add that the young lady who was our server was exceptional. We were quickly seated and having a good time with friends. The crabcake was great and the scallops ok. Our order of coffee after the meal was very slow in being delivered, and the server said he had to make it and thought we were leaving. Anyway he ended up asking us to leave as they had another reservation coming in. We were surprised, as a 15 ninute delay with the coffee was not our fault.
