    Chicken Teriyaki Skewers

So this was my first time trying Sekisui. I went right when they opened at 11:30. I wanted something light so I got the teriyaki skewers and a side of steamed rice. So simple but the skewers were so well seasoned and I love when they pair oranges with teriyaki it compliments it so well!

THIS is MY sushi joint. I eat it there or I get it to-go. I feel like I'm at home with, family when I stop by. I love the water features around the restaurant. The patio is pretty at night. I go here for all occasions: To catch up with pals, for a date night, for a lunch meeting or just to grab a meal on-the-go. To-go orders usually take 20 minutes because everything is made to order. I love the Crab Deluxe Salad! The ginger salad dressing is SO good! I wish I had the recipe. It's not watery. You can actually taste tiny bits of ginger in it. My other fave is the Red Birds Sushi roll. It has crunch crab, sweet chili sauce, and sushi shrimp on top. If you decide to check it out, you will likely see me there. LOL!

    Roach at the bar

Enjoy coming here if you want roaches in your food. Even after pointing it out to a server there they grabbed the bucket with the roach and never came back or said anything to me. Must be something they're used to seeing.

It's good Japanese restaurants in Memphis. my friend loves TONKATU! I ordered baking tuna which not in a menu, great!

This place unfortunately is a hard pass for me in the future. Where do I start? Chicken teriyaki: the amount of salt in the sauce was through the roof. Sushi: small tiny rolls for the price paid. 8 small pieces in each $10-12 roll. They were also bland and unmemorable. Environment: this affected my impression of the restaurant the most. It was dirty, stuffy, and random junk was piled on the chairs and the countertops. Flies and gnats were swarming around us all dinner long. The tables were sticky and everything just looked and felt like it was covered in a layer of grime. If this is how the customer frequented area looks, how sanitary is the kitchen where they handle and serve raw food?! Most people were carry out orders...and after sitting in this restaurant for 45 mins, I can see why.

Sekisui has a really cool atmosphere. It is decorated in a way that reflects Memphis but also Japanese culture which I really enjoyed. We got seated immediately and received water. It took about 15 minutes before someone asked us what we would like to eat. Then it took, a while for our sushi to come out. They were not busy. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and a philly roll. It was so good, and I had enough to take for lunch tomorrow. Great restaurant, service can be eh

Should be 2.5 Stars. We love good sushi and have been to Japan several times for weeks at a time. We went here on our last night in Memphis because I was craving sushi. We were seat d quickly and had water brought and waitress came to take drink order. I asked for a minute....and over 10min later she returned. Our drinks came quickly enough, my husbands beer was lukewarm but a chilled mug brought after solved that...but food took forever. My Thord salad looked NOTHING like the pic and was messy looking but hunger took over. My husband got the Ika Fry and found it ok, a simple dish. The sushi was good, bland, and chewy. We ordered a 4 2oz sake flight and the sake was warm ...supposed to be cold. We chose this place as it was VERY highly rated on Trip Advisor....Stick to the bbq in Memphis if this is considered some of the best sushi.

Very good sushi and if you get the early bird before 7 pm, a decent price. Service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect.

A bit of a head-scratcher with their closing times…read more.. I walked in at 2:00 PM on a weekday, expecting to get a quick lunch since their posted hours say they are open until 2:30 PM. Apparently, that is not quite how it works here. The hostess explained that the posted hours are "off" and laid out a pretty confusing timeline of how they actually operate: At 2:00 PM: Dining inside officially ends, because the servers stop working. Until 2:15 PM: You can still place a to-go order because the kitchen is technically open. At 2:30 PM: The restaurant actually closes. So, if you arrive at 2:00 PM, you are strictly limited to takeout. It is a bit frustrating to be turned away from dining in a full half-hour before the scheduled closing time just because the staff is already winding down. If the dining room closes at 2:00 PM, it would be a lot easier for everyone if they just updated their posted hours to reflect that.

It came with miso soup, a salad, salmon, rice, and vegetables. It was so tasty and well seasoned that I didn't have to add any sauce. It was also very filling. The waitress was very attentive. She checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. Love it!

We also really liked the decor inside the restaurant, but this time we actually dined on the patio, which made for a nice change of pace So we ordered the wings, and they absolutely delicious --we liked them so much we ordered a second round. The crawfish dumplings were also solid, but the wings were the standout of the meal. We also tried the Bake MF Margarita, which I expected to taste like tea, but it's actually a refreshing peach-flavored margarita. At about $22, it's generously sized for two people and definitely worth trying. Our server, Mason, was very nice and made great selections for us. Overall, I'm giving Good Fortune Company (4/5). The only reason it wasn't a perfect score was the missing Slap Noodles. Even so, I'd happily return and hope to try them next time. Next time im ordering Ramen!

Our waitress, Grace quickly became like family with her outgoing personality, attention to detail and knowledge of all the local foodie places to hit up with honest reviews of each. We chatted like we were old friends and she was patient with a few meal adjustments even complimenting some choices saying the chef is going to be so excited to see you ordering filet correctly! (In case you're wondering, always med rare - never well done!) The food was great, the ambience cozy and the service was out of this world! We asked Grace why no one was in? She told us they are one of downtown Memphis best kept secrets but that the chef caters some pretty big local entities. Well, Memphis and those traveling thru, it's high time you know about this place! Extensive menu with sushi choices, hibachi, as well as other options for those seeking options. A refreshing soup option was the onion soup so I tried it and it was delicious. It was an onion broth with scallion, mushroom and tempura pieces. I also tried the spicy tuna roll, and while it's great that it came out at lightning speed, it did not look like it was freshly made. I did ask for extra ginger and the waitress really delivered, she brought a whole mini bowl extra, my favorite, I lastly tried onion tempura (great deal at less than $2). The first piece I tried was crunchy, hot, delicious. The remaining pieces were end/top of the onion and it looked like it still had dirt at the top. It turned me off to finishing the rest. Mixed feelings about this experience overall, probably won't return.
