Dr. Irene was incredibly thorough, patient, and honest throughout the entire process. She took the time to carefully examine my tooth, review X-rays, and explain what she was seeing without ever rushing me. Even though the issue turned out to be more complicated than it first appeared, I always felt she had my best interests in mind. What I appreciated most was her professionalism and willingness to consider every possibility before recommending treatment. My review is not on the Dentist's care at this location as I did not see any, buy the Customer Service from the front deskthe dentist assistant and manager. I made my appointment with this office as it's 'In-network' with my dental insurance. When I made the appointment, approximately 4 or so weeks ago, the person that helped with the appointment assured me she would reach out to the referring Dentist for the service needed, I even gave her the name, address and phone number. The day before my appointment, I received a reminder call and I asked if the referral had been received and was told no, but they would call the referring Dentist prior to my appointment the next day. The next morning, I decided to call the referring Dentist to see if the referral had been sent and to my surprise, they had not received a call/email. The referring Dentist's office said they would call, which they did and tried several times to email the requested documents prior to my visit later that day. Approximately 3hrs prior to my 3pm appointment, I get a call from Select Dental Group telling me there is an earlier appt available, do I want to go in? I declined as I was still at work.... and I again asked if the referral had been received, and was told no, BUT, she would call now and request it prior to my arrival at 3pm. I head out to the office and check-in. Waited approximately 15min and was then taken back by who I think was the assistant as they did not introduce themselves, poor customer service... I sit and I'm asked, do you have the referral documents... UGH!! They claimed they never received them. I called the referring Dentist's office right there and then, and confirmed it was emailed to the office around 1pm... they tried several times as it was not going through and had to call to verify the email address, because the email address that they got the 1st time, when they called in the morning, was not going through.. so I know it was emailed. They scramble to see if they can find it and they say no, nothing was received. At that point I decided to just take my business elsewhere because they had ample time to get the referral, especially when I was told at least 3 times that they would call the referring Dentist's office. In addition, before I left, I asked for a refund of my co-pay. The manager was out to lunch (at 3:30) so I was told to call back, not even willing to take my name/phone # so that the manager could initate a call, given a new customer, had just had a bad experience. I waited until approximately 5pm with no call. I decided to call and when I asked for the manager (Wendy Lares) the receptionist said 'Oh, she already refunded the fee" --- so you couldn't even call me Wendy? That is very unprofessional and the entire office staff seem to need additional training in providing effective, professional customer service.. including, introducing themselves when a client is NEW to the office. Will never return to this establishment or do not recommend it. read more

It took multiple calls, months, and finally a written request for my lawyer for them to give me my refund back. Funny enough the refund was magically processing after the written request came in and it was half what I paid, as it should've been. Wendy tried to tell me it wouldn't hardly be anything because I was already 95% done with the work, trying to persuade me to just go back to that office where the male assistants are nothing more than a joke. Dr. Gengal understood that they made me uncomfortable especially after she asked the older one to show me how to floss with my temporary crowns and he instructed me to pull the floss up into my freshly pushed up gums after giving me the attitude like a middle school girl. The younger one dragged his nails across my freshly pulled up gums and hit the back of my mouth with the suction tool. The female assistants are much more comfortable to be around. The only thing different about this place than other places is they smile in your face and try to make you feel comfortable while they screw you over. The one good thing I will say about this place is Priscilla at the front desk is really sweet and Dr. Besser is great at her job both in quality and ensuring you're comfortable the whole time. Overall however, I would advise finding another office. If you do end up going here however, make sure to call your insurance and confirm that they're not breaking contract to charge you more. Also, for the last time, I go by JESS, not jessica. It is not that hard to understand the doctors had no problem with this I don't understand why the front desk struggled with it so much. read more

Craziest thing ever, one night I was outside with my boys, typical me. They're out there riding mini bikes, eating snacks, its a good vibe out there. I was feeling good and different , I decide to ride one of the mini bikes, it was my first time so I was pretty nervous. I get on and i'm zooming. I got the hang pretty quick until I noticed some failures. Next thing you know, BOOOM I crashed straight into a parked truck after losing control riding over a speed bump at full speed with the breaks not working. I ended up breaking my left wrist and my two front teeth got pushed into my mouth. I got lucky because If I didn't have my braces I would've lost my teeth. They were very much hanging for dear life. So thanks a lot to Select dental And Orthodontics for braces worth every penny, and thank you too again for saving and putting my teeth back into place! Everyone I've encountered there so far has been super caring, attentive, informative, and takes their time on your care. I've suffered with TMJ recently so I scheduled a consult with Dr. Salo. Priscilla was able to schedule me as soon as possible and everything ran smoothly. He discovered what was going on with my bite and teeth and how it was affecting my facial muscles. He discussed a step by step solution for me. I am currently on their plan to make it better and what a difference it has made so far! They pressure you into paying for services that are not covered under your insurance policy and are condescending when speaking with you. They don't verify your co-pay's (D-HMO). Renate understands her role and what is expected of her, her job is NOT to provide patients with the care that they deserve but is rather to make as much money as humanly possible. Renate is good at her job, she is willing to lie to you, pressure you into paying money for a procedure that you don't need or perhaps don't want, and is willing to overcharge you and your insurance company whenever the opportunity arises. I filed a grievance case with my insurance provider when I was charged $935.00 for a crown. My insurance provider (Delta Dental) concluded that I was indeed OVERCHARGED and that this dental practice did not comply with their contractual protocols. My insurance made sure that I was issued a refund but the entire ordeal was time consuming, frustrating and to be honest, humiliating. I know we all think that we are able to tell when someone is trying to take advantage of us but being that they are a dentist, you want to believe what they are telling you. It sucks when you figure out that what they have been telling you is in fact a lie. Please heed my advice and look elsewhere if you are considering going to this dentist practice. She took me to her office to finish up my paperwork, sat patiently with me while we waited for my regular dentist office to confirm records over the phone, & she made sure to retrieve accurate information from my records before deciding whether or not her office needed to move forward with me as their patient. In my experience with doctors in different practices, I have definitely felt when it was obvious when a doctor didn't care much about me & was only interested in the insurance money, or money I would sometimes have to pay out of pocket. With so much to keep up & balance in life, & even with google at our fingertips, it is still a great & a much-needed experience at a facility that guides & educates you accordingly; all without any iniquitous motive. I wouldn't recommend it, the dentist who helped me with an implant, reconstructed the old crown that I had to save money then it cracked open in a few days, he is off for two weeks and nobody in the dentist group could or wanted to helped me. Few years back this place probably saved my life. No joke i had an abscessed wisdom tooth which was leaving me incapacitated - fever, chills, headaches, and neck pain. I went to another dentist a month prior who convinced me against my better judgment that they could save the tooth next to it and gave me a very painful root canal, which only bought me three weeks. Select Dental booked me for the next day, gave me guidelines to seek emergency help, and called in a great surgeon. They answered every question I had before the time came, showed me videos and we reviewed my x rays. The next day they put me to sleep, and the next thing i knew i had 5 less teeth and virtually no pain. They really did amazing work in an urgent and difficult situation. They quoted me $1,200 to extract a tooth, and a "discounted" rate of $450 for the nitrous gas for the procedure. And that is AFTER the insurance!! We were referred to this office for my son's wisdom teeth extractions. We got there 30 mins early so thought hey, why not try to see if they can take us early. They said sure so we checked in and waited. They pulled us in 20 mins after we arrived to sit and wait for the doctor. We waited and waited... We could hear him the whole time, and yes, he was with another patient.. but now waiting over an hour and a half after our schedule appointment time I was tired and annoyed. He went to talk to 3 other folks before he finally came into the area to see my son. After 15 mins of rambling he leaves and sends us to see his finance lady. She gave us the breakdown and quoted us $3950 for the procedure. I was taken back by the numbers. They tried to push for me to make an appointment for the next day, I said no, and left. Once home with a little time to think, I called back in and asked if we could just extract and sedate as that's all we needed.. (they tried telling me they needed to do grafting and testing etc etc) the finance lady told me no, that whatever the doctor says is what is needed to be done... I said all the extras I don't care about, I just needed the basic... Which was $495 vs $3950. She said it's all or nothing, and then asked me again of I wanted to schedule an appointment as they had one left for tomorrow. I said no thank you and hung up. I was pretty upset because it didn't make sense. We had PPO that covered 90% and they were trying to charge me $3950 that she said it was not covered. That was back in April. Fast forward, my original dental office referred me to another oral surgeon, a little out of the way, but when I came for my appointment they took me right in. I waited 10 mins (if even that) to see the doctor. He was kind and allowed me to ask questions. My son was scheduled for extraction 2 days later. They showed me the payment schedule and then I paid $128 for the extraction of 4 wisdoms including sedation. $128 vs $3950 Can you imagine that? $128. Now that's freakin crazy. Final conclusion. Select dental in my eyes will rob you blind. Get a second opinion. So not let this office try to push you to book an appointment. I had such a horrible experience and I would never reccomended anyone here, not even my worst enemy. Shame on you guys for everything. read more

I cannot in total honesty recall a point in my childhood, adolescence or young adulthood where I had an enjoyable experience at the dentist. I can get into depth about the nightmarish encounters I've lived through going back to early childhood but it wouldn't help this review at all. I ended up becoming a patient here in 2020 after a disastrous consultation and wisdom teeth extraction at Beach City Dental in 2019. My husband had been coming here since they were Downtown Family Dental and was always raving about how great it was, and he convinced me to come in so they could assess the issues I was having post-extraction. I booked with Dr. Gangel, who was extremely personable and friendly, and got a standard exam and cleaning. I've been a patient of Dr. Gangel's ever since and I've gotta say, the only reason I'd even consider looking for another dentist is when she retires. She always takes the time to explain what she's doing during the exam, what needs to be done, and never hesitates to answer my questions or assuage any concerns I may have, and she makes me feel like I'm valued as a patient. I also had a really nice hygienist on my last visit, I'm bad with names so I can't remember hers right now but she was awesome! Really friendly and engaging and explained everything she was doing, she recommended a laser treatment on my gums and I haven't had any pain or issues with it. She also caught that I still had remnants of glue from my braces and got that off my teeth--which boggles my mind since my braces were removed in 2006, but she said it's a lot more common than we think. I mentioned on my last visit a couple days ago that I noticed I've been clenching my jaw a lot and that I was having headaches from it, so they made time to get me fitted for a custom mouth guard that day to wear at night and ease the tension. I'm going to head back on the 19th to pick it up and I'm so excited! Their pricing is, from our experience, pretty agreeable overall. We haven't had to go to their oral surgeon, but seeing as he's outsourced from his own private practice in Beverly Hills I imagine that can get really pricey. We just get preventative care. All in all I strongly recommend it here! The office is really clean and nice, interior's very modern, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and takes the time to help you out. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE!!THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND DEFRAUD YOU!!! Disappointed with the way this dental office conducts business! For the 3 visits I've had with them, I was charged what they alleged as my co-pay. I told them according to my insurance, I don't have a copayment because they were my designated provider, I was told the services (cleanings and consultation) require payments from me. I asked for them to verify and they insisted that they've already done so. Fast forward to several weeks when I received my explanation of benefits, I learned from Delta Dental that ALL of the services provided were COVERED benefits and I did NOT need to pay a single penny!! I am owed $435 by this practice and had to file a grievance with Delta Dental. I was eventually refunded by my insurance themselves because they haven't heard back from this practice despite so many letters and faxes sent to them. Delta Dental will be recouping the money owed to me from the office. read more
