Absolutely appalling customer service that made me feel awful and left me without a solution to the problem with my car. This review is for my visit on 3/8/20. I took a trip to Selman to check out a pre-owned Kia Optima Hybrid. I was quickly greeted by one of their sales staff. The salesman was very polite and I appreciated that he was not super aggressive or pushy while we checked out the car. He offered to take us on a test drive which went fine. I liked the car so we continued with the buying process. I wanted to trade in my old car towards the new one and that went very smooth as well. Some of the staff checked out the condition of my car and did some research before giving me an offer which took about 20 minutes. The offer I received was very fair in my opinion and was in line with the average book value so I agreed. The rest of the buying process was very easy and much quicker than other dealerships I have been to. They were able to communicate with my credit union right there at the dealership and sort out the financing. There is always a lot of unavoidable paperwork to sign when purchasing a car but Selman got through it as quick as I could hope for. Overall the entire process start to finish took about 2 hours from the time I first arrived. I have bought many cars from dealerships and that time is about average if not a little quicker than normal. Coupled with the friendly staff and fair deals I consider this a dealership worth visiting and I would definitely return in the future. Extra Tip: I normally pass on any extra warranties offered when buying a car but I did choose to buy an extended warranty on my Optima here. The reason being is I found the warranty to be very cheap for the peace of mind. I was able to get a full coverage warranty for 5 years and it only added about $30.00 to my monthly payment! definitely worth checking out. read more

I have been going to this dealer for service for a few years. It seem each time I have gone after I made an appointment online of by calling in my appointment is not found or I'm told it was for the day before I showed up. This has happen the past 5-6 times. Also it seems as the customer service has declined with the service department. Service writers seem to do their best, but lately it seems as if they are over loaded. When trying to explain things to them it seems as if they are not taking the information in. If you questing what a technician States by asking for more details or if other things were checked you get some push back. Hoping this get better as I'm not looking forward to going to the dealer in Garden Grove as I believe that's the next nearest Chevy dealer. read more

Took my wife's car in for a recall and warranty service for the window regulator. They fixed the window but then we started having problems with the car not locking. The door panel is kind of lose and I believe it's preventing the door knob from locking and unlocking. When my wife told me about the problems she's been having a couple of months later, I tried to make an appointment but they told me my car is no longer under warranty. I believe they did a crappy job which caused the door locking problem. I bought my car from here but will never come back to this place. read more

I recently took delivery of a 2022 Suburban. We are thrilled with the vehicle but more importantly the process and help from Arnie Covarrubias and George Barreiro. I had a very specific, non-negotiable configuration. I wanted a specific color, 4wd, and Duramax Diesel drivetrain. After realizing I would never find what I was looking for on the lot (pretty much everything is white or black, and diesel doesn't seem to be a thing here in CA) I began to ask about ordering the car I wanted. One dealer responded with "Sorry I don't think I will get that combo anytime soon, but if I do I will let you know." I contacted another dealer. Their response was " I can check and see if we can build one that way. I would have to check to see if we have slots to place an order for a diesel one." Then no follow up. I happened to stop at Selman by accident as I was in the neighborhood. I met Arnie and he was welcoming and simply explained "Bring me the configuration you want and we can order one." I was like "Are you serious? These other places made it seem like it was very difficult or simply didn't want to do it." Arnie explained the process, managed my expectations with the time frame, and was communicative the entire time until delivery. I realize I had the luxury to wait for my vehicle, but I can't understand why the other dealers made this process so hard, were simply misinformed or refused to help me order a car. Before my order I would have ordered the car from anyone. Not anymore. To purchase a Chevy, Selman was the best experience by far. Purchase Date: April 27, 2017 1. Misrepresentation of the 2nd car. It did not have the same accuracy package as the 1st car. 2. There wasn't a test drive offered on the 2nd car and a basic owner familiarization with the features and under the hood items never took place with a qualified dealership representative or the sales person. 3. I could be wrong but a test drive is integral prior to buying the car. The customer feels more comfortable with the sales process and with the car. Steps to correct in of the misunderstandings as we as educate the buyer can be cleared up prior to contracting. 4. What started out being a positive experience became uncomfortable and taken the joy away from the ownership experience. 5. I feel that I still want and should have the opportunity to regain the excitement of having a new car and the dealer contact me to resolve what are in my mind egregious and glaring misrepresentations made by the salesman. I believe the 1st time stamped contact should be asking for help. Forth coming contact should be nothing short of a full on exhibition of force thru channels that cannot be ignored by the dealer. Notes: We arrived at the dealership approximately 11:00am, left at 4:00pm. We called Bruce Deloye (salesman) at approximately 5:20pm and advised him that we were coming back with the car and he said to "come back". We arrived back to dealership at 6:00pm but when we arrived Bruce and Lew Hamilton said that there was nothing they could do to help us since we had already driven the car off the lot. I brought my car in on 4-19-21 for a vibration and a pull to the left on the front end of my 2018 Chevy. I told them I thought it was a possible tire issue. The service advisor later said I needed an alignment, tire rotation, and my wheels balanced. They said they did all of that and the front started pulling to the right after the work was done. They then rotated the front tires to the rear and said the front was now fixed, so I paid and picked up my car at closing time. On the way home the front end felt nice but now I felt a small vibration coming from the right rear. This was the day before I had to go back to work, 80 miles from home. I called the dealership from work the following day and asked for the service manage who was not in. I asked for a call back and to this day never got it. When I got back home form 2 weeks of out of town work, I had my wife drive the car as I followed her and could clearly see the right rear tire wobbling. I took it to America's Tire and after their inspection I had a defective tire on my right rear that was separating . They would not let me leave without a new tire cause it was too dangerous to drive on. I told them the story about Selman and showed them the receipt. They said if they balanced the tires they would have seen the bulge and threads showing on the tire. They did not understand how someone could rotate this tire from the left front to the right front and then to the right rear without noticing this!! How could a dealership this highly rated miss this when I told them what I thought the problem was to begin with? What if my wife was driving on the freeway and this tire blew out? Oh yes, 3 weeks later and still no call back from a service manager or anyone from the dealership. This is my second bad experience with this dealership after they had my corvette for over 4 months (that's another story). I figured for the price of a new tire, it's not worth my time trying to contact a service manager again. I mentioned how it went the first time I called. Never again. My husband died and when the lease was up last October I bought the 2019 Chevy Bolt. They told me it was a good value based on KBB. Well I got fucked big time! They sold it to me for over $33,000 and now it was in an accident and totaled and I'm getting $17,000! How can the value drop $16,000 in 10 months??? This review is for both Sales and Service. Last year, I was looking for a Chevy Volt. I spoke with the internet sales person Ryan. He got me good numbers and was very transparent. He wasn't pushy or anything. He was also knowledgeable about the Volt, which ironically, most Chevy dealers aren't. We ended up getting a good deal on a used Volt, so didn't buy a car, but still appreciate him. Fast forward to now. Our Volt was having some issues, so I took it to Selman, and Mike A, one of the Service Advisers took my car in. He said it would take some time to diagnose, and they called a Lyft to take me home. He called a few minutes later and said that they'll fix the stuff under warranty. He also found some other issues and fixed it all under warranty. My Uncle bought a brand new truck, CASH!!! The truck experienced update issues where the radio, backup camera, power steering and eventually the battery died leaving him stranded. He called and was told, not their problem. The sales man who sold him the truck, was rude, disrespectful and eventually ghosted him. This dealership wanted NOTHING to do with my Uncle. Trust me when I say, we understand new cars, new computers, new updates, but when I heard this dealership DISRESPECTED him, ignored him, made him feel unheard, made him feel like a fool for even purchasing his truck there to begin with, absolutely unacceptable! Sales man, management team should be reevaluated and looked further into. The lack of customer service is horrendous and a literal joke. My uncle took his truck to a Chevy dealership in Costa Mesa where they WELCOMED HIM WITH OPENED ARMS, took care of business and most of all made him feel like the customer he was. I bought my Silverado truck here in 2020, so as of writing this it is only 3 years old. I want to make perfectly clear that the salesman I had was excellent, although I can't remember his name. I have had nothing but issues with this truck. It shifts weird, the key fob malfunctions left and right. The status screen consistently says "Key fob not detected" Today, 8/5 I called Selman's Service Center to ask if there were any known issues with these key fobs. The person I spoke to suggested to replace the battery, i informed him that I keep doing that and feel that isn't the issue. He says that I probably need a new key fob then. I said sure how much is that going to be? He tells me the the key fob itself costs $179 and then programming it to my truck is another $265. I asked him if he was kidding, because obviously this is outrageous. Over $400 to replace something that is clearly faulty in the first place? After buying a 45k truck?! Then I call and ask to speak to the sales manager. After complaining to him, he yelled something at me, (not sure what) and promptly hung up on me. For as long as I can remember my family have been coming here to buy their cars so it is only natural that I come here to buy my very first car. Going in I was greeted by several members of their staff and quickly helped to get the car I wanted. Already I knew what car I wanted so i didn't have to go around and test drive a bunch of cars. Since then (2.5 years now) i have had a few minor issues which the dealership has been very happy to help me solve. It was also very nice to get a ride home while they work on my car. I've been having my car serviced at Selman ever since I purchased it in 2006. Selman has been providing great service for both maintenance and repair needs. Only one time did I need to bring my car back for a second look after an air conditioning repair. Initially the car was blowing warm air out one vent, and cold air out the other vent. The service advisor insinuated that the car probably did that before the repair. I disagreed, and they asked me to bring the car back the next day. They reprogrammed the system that controlled the vent air flow and the problem was solved. When the compressor was replaced, they somehow disrupted the system, and the vents needed to be reindexed. Other than that, for the most part, their staff has been friendly and professional over the years. The customer waiting area is comfortable and clean. They have a TV and offer desk cubicles, with power and wifi for your mobile devices. Coffee is complimentary. read more

My daughter took her Cruze into Selman for a safety check prior to us driving her car back to Michigan for school. The morning we left I was the first driver and I noticed something was definitely wrong with the vehicle while accelerating. The transmission shifted horribly, but my daughter said that has been ongoing for a while and the dealer did not mention in their report when she picked up the car. About 2 hours out of Denver the engine light came on and the shifting became worse. We limped into Denver and I took it to a Chevy dealer the next morning. The dealer told me that the Turbo Charger was broken (hence the reason for the shifting issue). We spent the day in Denver having the Turbo replaced. Disappointing that my daughter spent better that $500 for no more than an oil change. I would not use Selman's repair service again. We had a good experience purchasing the vehicle from them, but I could not trust their service department. read more

I paid cash and they were goin have a bed liner put in and have it shipped on a flat bed to port so can have shipped to me. Wen truck arrived on Maui truck had 107 miles and 5 rock chips out of bumper. I called them and they said nobody drove it and chips wer not there wen they delivered it. GM says don't use Selman and I agree. Don't expect Selman Chevrolet to care about customers. I leased a car from Selman. I needed to return the car but I'm stuck in Chicago due to COVID. A friend offered to return the car for me. I called Selman and two employees assured me it would not be a problem for my friend to return the car. When my friend got to Selman, the Sales Manager Lou Hamilton refused to accept the car. After considerable argument, he said I should call GM Financial to authorize Selman to accept the car from my friend. I called GM and they called Selman. GM then told me that the people they spoke with were "not very nice" and suggested that we should return the car to another dealership. So as I said, GM says don't use Selman and I agree. read more

I dislike when I contact a dealer's online department and they say you have to be in person in order to receive a quote. Not here. Jason knew I meant business. I asked him for a quote, told him the down payment, length of contract, etc, he came back with a great payment. My vehicle was in transit as is the case in today's market, and when the date of delivery was approaching I asked Jason if they could deliver the vehicle, he said no problem. Let me start of with the cheesy "if I could give zero stars I would". I've had the worst experience with the service department especially the manager mike. I brought my car in for a FULL INSPECTION I told the very nice women Elizabeth MULTIPLE time that I needed a FULL inspection because my car was not starting and the mechanic told me it wasn't the starter it was something electrical. I noticed something was fishy when they didn't check the brakes for the FULL CAR INSPECTION. For the starter issue they told me it was JUST the starter I asked multiple times if it was electrical but they assured me that it was JUST THE STARTER. They wanted to charge me almost 1000 to change the starter on my FWD Chevy (most places charge 400 for that job). I'm not rich by any means And $1000 is a lot of money and I've already spent that much to get my car working. I took it to a mechanic and they changed the starter 100% gm certified from a dealer and my car still was not working. They mechanic told me that they probably didn't even pop open my hood if they did a simple electrical test they would of known right away it was not the starter. So now I'm out almost $500 for a part I did not need and I would of been out $1000 if I got it done here. I'm trying to get my money back from this company for the starter to all the mangers and service people I WILL NOT STOP you can expect a call from me EVERYDAY until I'm reimbursed. DO NOT COME HERE!!!! THEY DENTED MY VEHICLE - "FIXED IT" AND DIDNT TELL ME ABOUT THE INCIDENT UNTIL I NOTICED AND CALLED THEM!!! PLEASE read this before coming here! I originally brought in my vehicle to get serviced because I was having issues with the sensors. The staff told me it'd be a couple of days and they provided a loaner vehicle. On Saturday 9/5/20 I went in to pick up my vehicle near to closing time - once I arrived home I noticed that my tool box had been opened and was left open. I was immediately concerned because the dealership NEVER asked for my permission to open the tool box. I instantly called and spoke to the service manager Joe Puerto. At the moment he was unsure and gave me the run around until he was able to speak to the advisor who worked on my vehicle. It was then that he notified me that they removed my tool box to do some work on my vehicle and in the process an employee (a carport guy) hit my vehicle and created a DENT!!! The service manager proceeded to tell me that they "FIXED" the dent and buffed it out. I then started to inspect my vehicle and noticed MANY MORE issues besides the dent they "fixed"! Not only did they DENT my vehicle and NOT TELL ME, but they created scratches ALL over that were NOT there prior! In addition they removed my custom intake and did not place it back properly, they also FAILED to screw in the bults correctly. I will provide pictures to reference my claims. They even left the suction marks on the body and window of my vehicle - laziness at its finest! PLEASE AVOID COMING HERE AT ALL COST! This is extremely unprofessional and devastating! I made an appointment for 2:30p and was told max wait time was 1.5 hours so I took off work and showed up today at 2:30 on the dot. My appointment was not on the schedule. A rep came out and Said they are "really busy today and can't guarantee me my car until they close because obviously they're not gonna stay late and work on the cars." I told him I had an appointment and he said "well we have had over 100 cars come in today so... " what do I care? Instead of saying "oh well" They should have offered me a 10% off discount for next time or I don't know a simple apology or best case would've been to fit me in since it was their mistake. So we had an interesting experience with Selman over the last couple weeks. We had to turn in our lemon law car to ford and we had a week to do so. We browsed online and found several places to look at. We picked selman because of JASON!!! Jason was helpful, attentive, and purely honest. Selman is one of the only dealerships that aren't marking their prices and gouging people. Now for the "stuff you can't make up" part. So we go to put down the deposit since the truck was still on its way to the dealership, Jason said we should have it by the end of the weekend. End of the weekend comes around and no truck, but because Of our situation we didn't have a car. After two more days no truck so Jason found a temporary car to use. Throughout then next two weeks we had no truck. The truck came in to the yard but no hauler, someone lost the keys so no truck, then the GM for involved and gave us a different truck and it came in broken. Jason was very honest about every step and every issue and that is why we didn't pull the deal. Finally we got the new truck and we love it. Jason, keep up the good work. Nope. This place is terrible. I stopped by looking for some paint for my chevy truck. I went back to the parts and service center and found a big ol' guy sitting behind the counter. I walked up- no "hello", no "what can I do for you"- just the stare. I told him I needed a specific type of repair paint and his only response was, "Not from me." I asked what the hell he meant and he graciously decided to give me a LITTLE more info. He didn't sell that type of paint. I run in to assholes everywhere, but here's the bigger problem. This guy doesn't know who I am. He has know idea if I am a recent customer and wanted to buy some repair paint. I could have spent thousands of dollars on a new truck the week before and that would have been the attitude and service I received from the parts and service department. At that moment I knew I would never buy a truck here. If I did buy a truck here and came back and received that type of attitude, I would have flipped out. To top it off, as I was leaving some sales guy asked me if I was looking for anything specific. I told him I came for a part and was heading back to my truck. He asked which truck was mine, looked at it, and said, "wow- definitely time for a new one." Again, another asshole. I was two for two. That's no way to sell someone. Indirectly tell them their truck is shitty to shame them in to buying a new one? I am planning on getting a new truck next summer- have mine paid off and am ready for an upgrade. I'm SOOOO happy I had this incident. I don't care what deals they're offering- the service seems terrible and I that's the last thing I want to deal with when buying a new truck. It's almost comical how insecure and combative they are for just asking regular questions. Bob and the office staff are unprofessional, aggressive, verbally abusive, and erratic.
