    Cider tasting of 6
    Gab G.

Returned with a reservation for a Saturday afternoon and had a great brunch (first time trying the brunch menu). Cider mimosa to start was fantastic, and the sourdough and cinnamon roll are both worth getting. As for the entree, the buckwheat pancake was delicious (and enormous), and the smashed "potatoes" with smoked trout and fried egg were phenomenal. (Potatoes in quotes because they subbed in sunchokes the day we were there; I loved them.) A fantastic meal all around!

I'm updating my review to five stars. After my last review, Reuben the owner took time to provide a very detailed response to my query on cider temperature (read his response below - he schooled me, rightly so). It's obvious Seminary Hill is extremely thoughtful about their cider production, storage, and temperature. I really respect the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the cider, and I look forward to learning more about the cider making process at my next visit to Seminary Hill.

Sunset over outdoor area with games and seating overlooking mountains and orchard

By far the most delicious food we had in Callicoon. Many beautiful spots to eat in the town, and none was prettier than this. Set up a big hill from downtown / the river. Beautiful grounds overlooking mountains and an orchard. New wood building on a spacious property. Room for people to roam and games to play on the grass. No tables available for two when we showed up around 5:30pm on a Saturday in November, but they were able to seat us at the bar. Service was attentive and informed. Got the flight of cider (varied and interesting, so no regrets even though we didn't love them) and ordered appetizers at the bar. The two apps we got were inventive and tasted spectacular: smoked trout crudo with thinly sliced crabapple, and a steaming round sourdough loaf with whipped butter and schmaltz.

A must visit everytime we are in the area. The views are hard to beat!! Absolutely gorgeous outdoor seating and big windows if it's too cold to sit outside. The service is always great. We love the range of ciders - I recommend a sampler! Their cocktails are also excellent! One of the best espresso martinis I've had. We love love love the sourdough with the butter and fat and the charcuterie is a big, tasty portion.

Another fantastic dinner! First of all the views are spectacular. The service warm and helpful. We had the cider flight and tried all 8 ciders. Not all are excellent but a few are standouts. The grilled cabbage was surprisingly delightful and I typically do not like cabbage. We had the charcuterie board and ate the grilled peach and ice cream by the fire pit. This is our second time and it was just as good as the first! Do not miss this Catskill gem.

Came here with a group during an upstate weekend trip and absolutely (as others have said) loved the views and atmosphere! The ciders and beers were tasty (we ordered two flights) and we enjoyed our appetizers. I was a bit disappointed by the veal- it was dry, fairly raw, and hard to cut, so the sit down meal turned into somewhat of an intense manual labor experience for me and another guest who ordered it (we were first given butter knives and had to ask for sharper knives). Friends who ordered the chicken and fish, however, really enjoyed their dishes!

Cackling Hen cider, semi sweet, pairing nicely with the duck.

It's been incredible to watch how much they've grown and expanded over the years. As someone who lives nearby, it's nice to see a local place become such a popular destination. Today, they offer seasonal events, live music, lawn games, expanded tasting spaces, food trucks, and even the Tree House experience, which I've done a couple of times and really enjoyed. The ciders are consistently delicious, and the food trucks always offer great options. My favorite time to visit is definitely the fall. Sitting by the fire pits with a fresh cider and warm cider doughnuts is hard to beat. That said, weekends can get extremely busy, so I usually recommend visiting during the week if you want a more relaxed experience. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it's become very crowded. When the tour buses arrive, the atmosphere can start to feel more like a tourist attraction than the laid-back orchard it once was. I think limiting attendance a bit during peak times would create a more enjoyable experience for everyone. I'm also not a big fan of having to rent the sidelines, as it adds to that commercialized feel instead of the relaxed winery atmosphere that many people are looking for. Overall, it's still one of my favorite places to gather with friends and family. The beautiful setting, excellent ciders, seasonal activities, and welcoming atmosphere keep us coming back year after year.
