I will keep you posted and update my review. Part One: My husband did lots of research for 2 years before deciding to go solar. He knew that he wanted SunPower solar panels because of their quality and efficiency. We got 3 estimates from Semper Solaris, Hooked on Solar and Solar America. Being that my husband served in the Navy as well other family members in both of our families we decided to use Semper Solaris. The salesman Joshua Armstrong was good, the planning, permits went smoothly. But it seemed that everything else didn't go so well. With the owner of the company being retired military, I expected things to go better than they did. 4/23/18 On Day 1: the contractors stated that they did not know that they were to run our conduit on the inside of our attic and down to the outside, and that they were having issues. We told that them that it was in the contract and that they needed to find a way to run the conduit on the inside as planned. There were extra holes in our garage where they tried to bring the conduit out to our electrical panel On Day 2: The contractors workers got everything wired up and installed. But they installed the inverter box right next to our electrical panel in front of our house. Instead of I our garage like our salesman Joshua had told us. The fence is also next to our electrical panel and could have been behind our fence. They could have asked us since someone was at home while the work was being done. We asked them about the bird netting g that was supposed to be installed and they didn't know what we were talking about, so we showed them the contract and they said that they would have to come back again On Day 3: someone showed up at our House unannounced and not planned. We tried getting in touch with the project manager and foreman but no luck, we couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. I called the main headquarters and spoke with someone who tried to get in touch with the project manager Linda " the representative at headquarters stated "to show up at someone's house unannounced is not how they do things". Linda finally called me back to tell me that he was getting the broken roof tiles so that he get the color matched so they can replace the tiles they broke. My husband tried to call the foreman twice after the installation and was able to talk to someone and voiced his issue and concerns. My husband looked at the roof and solar panels from the ladder and seen that the contractors left Trash in our gutters, bags of parts in the gutters, the broken roof tiles were not fixed they were glued and no longer level, nuts bolts and screws were left laying on our roof. Day 4: the bird netting person showed up didn't seem to have an issue, but noticed from security camera that he went up on the roof a totally different way possibly breaking more floor tiles. My husband tried to call the foreman again with no luck. Monday April 3oth my husband tried to call again with no luck so he called headquarters and there was a little phone tag but Billie called him back. She wrote down all of our issues and concerns and she said that she would speak to the foreman and call us back the next day since it was already after 5:00and the foreman was probably gone home for the day. May 3rd, we still have not heard anything from Semper Solaris regarding our issues or concerns. I am very disappointed with this company. I hope they reach out to us to try a rectify our issues and co concerns. I really would like to give Semper Solaris a better rating and review. If everything gets resolved I will update my review. read more

Unorganized and not concerned about customer communication. Sent a sales rep out to get a contract signed and a deposit made who didn't understand what was asked for or rather it could be done. Ten days later sent someone out to do a site review who knew even less. Took the information back and completely confussed the design specialist. The design specialist had questions but no one contacted me until I called to find out why the delay. Questions and documents are sent back and forth for a month with no clarifications. The design specialist is so confussed that he thinks multiple systems exist when only one exists but I can't convince him. He decides to get me to walk away as it's too difficult for the company. As much as i explain that it should be a simple job he's decided to move on without ever seeing the site. Now we are three weeks trying to get the deposit refunded only to find out that accounting has never heard of the refund claim. The also refuse to document the refund request Not at all worth the time or effort read more

The Semper Solaris salesperson was incredible. He clearly knew solar better than any of the other vendors. Their prices were competitive and they committed to having the install complete before the end of the year to get in under the higher tax credit, and they said they could do it with a month to spare. From the time I signed the agreement at the beginning of August, they gave me a weekly status call to let me know what was going on with my project. Install was supposed to start in October. They called saying my panels were delayed and delayed the install until November. Mid-November they stopped calling. I called just after Thanksgiving, got a rep on the phone who said they'd had my panels for weeks, and who promised to get me scheduled ASAP. They scheduled me for late January. The install happened. They failed the inspection on 15+ different points, the most significant of being that they did not follow the plans they'd filed with city. They also did not install the hardware they'd claimed they were installing in the plans. Semper filed amended plans in the second week of February, the city approved them first week of March. Semper didn't bother picking them up until late April, and only after I contacted them and told them the plans were waiting for them. It took them over a month to get the reinspection scheduled (note that you can generally get them in under a week ). On June 1 someone from Semper showed up to get us through inspection. He did not have the report of what had failed. He did not have the replacement hardware that needed to be installed to make it conform to plans. Luckily I had notes, and he was able to call in an electrician on his day off (who showed up with his mother!) who spent a couple hours working on my home so it could pass inspection. The inspection passed. Two weeks later I received permission to operate. So the system was operational over 7 months after the date they'd committed to in August. It cost me an extra $3000 in lost tax incentives and power bills. In July they offered to credit me $2500 off my bill as an apology, after I documented my experience to them. In October they explained the person who did that didn't have the authority to do so and asked me to pay the $2500, and maybe they'll send me a check for $500 after I pay it. With that said. They installed high quality hardware at a fair price. The salesperson did an incredible job educating me on solar. The technicians who were on site did a good job with the install. Everyone I worked with at Semper was nice, but nice does not mean efficient and effective. But you need to seriously actively manage every aspect of the project. Be prepared to read the plans and point out to them when they don't follow them. Get a copy of the inspection report if it fails. Keep on top of them, because if you don't, things will happen like your plans sitting waiting to be picked up for a month or inspections not getting scheduled for weeks. I'm pleased with my solar panels. I'm pleased with the Tesla battery. I wish the process for getting them would have been much better. read more

I have never seen customer service from any company as bad as Semper Solaris provides. No return phone calls, no return emails, no follow through on when they said they would call. These folks have a very poor reputation.....as noted by some on social media. I see they try and take down negative comments quickly. Please go elsewhere,,,it will save you the grief. read more

I'm very happy with my solar and powerwall installation from Semper Solaris. We installed in 2 steps - first solar, then powerwall. Eddie, Ron and Marcus did a great job installing the powerwall - they talked to us about the various ways the install could be done, and we worked out locations that were good for everybody. They then did the installation, which looks great, and included even paint-matching the conduits to the wall..... read more

I have been dealing with Semper Solaris since October 2020. Initially, everything was great. We got a good quote, the reviews I found online seemed to be positive and we were told they should be able to install before Thanksgiving. At the beginning of November, we were asked to finalize our funding so they could schedule the installation. I confirmed that they had everything they needed for the install, including the batteries. They said everything was ready to go, they just needed to received the funding and they would get us on the schedule. It is now April 2, 2021 and we still do not have our batteries installed. EVERY time we talk with them we get a different story. First, they were trying to 'fit us in'. In December, they had someone different calling me saying 'no batteries'. In January, someone else called with yet another story and I asked for a manager. She told me 'no batteries' at first and then that they didn't have a part for install and then that the panel upgrade they were going to do wasn't going to work and they needed to redo the quote and specs. Once that was all sorted out, she guaranteed the install and panel upgrade would happen the same day, March 11th and that was her last day at Semper. Then they called to confirm install. They said the upgrade was going to happen March 11th and the battery install would be at the end of April. I immediately got on the phone with another supervisor, who said they were out of batteries. She supposedly tried and tried and couldn't find any. On the morning of March 11th, when they were going to do the panel upgrade, the dispatcher called and said they didn't have a part they needed so they were going to install the batteries. ???? Just the night before at 4:30pm, there were no batteries to be found and the morning they were supposed to be at my house they all the sudden found batteries and didn't have what they needed for the panel upgrade they confirmed the night before? I ended up speaking with the supervisor and an install manager out of Fresno (we are in Santa Rosa) who said the socket they needed for the panel upgrade wasn't available anywhere. He claimed to have it on order and would have it the following Tuesday. He guaranteed me he would have the panel upgrade and install completed on the same day. They called to reschedule the install for this morning, April 2nd, and low and behold, they all showed up to do the install, PG&E came and shut off our power and then the Semper crew told me they still didn't have the socket needed for the panel upgrade. Thankfully, PG&E was still here and turned the power back on. 10 minutes later, the crew came to the door and said they found the part and called PG&E to come back out. He was told someone called me and had approval to continue with the project. No one called me. It's been 7 months since this nightmare started and we are no closer now then we were then, paying on a loan we have nothing to show for. read more

The initial meeting the guy didn't look at the PGE bills that we sent .. then every apt after that has not been on time and to top it off .. yesterday they came to install the roof and my husband gets a text .. sorry we need to change your install date and then they go silent. Our roof was finally complete. So far the roofing company (Sorry I forgot the name!) Semper Solaris hired to finish our roof did a good job. The Project Manager, Porfirio Zaguilan, was attentive in following up my requests and concerns during the roofing project. For the solar panel project, the solar installation company they hired did a good job as well. They were able to install all the panels within the same day; no delay. The solar inverter seems doing its job and now we are just waiting for final inspection and installation of the level 2 car charger outlet. Let's hope the final step will go smoothly! I expected better organization, communication and attention. They were so attentive up to the time you sign the contract. After you sign, you are ignored and if you want to make any progress, YOU have to project manage and leave messages and get bounced around to this and that person. It's like pulling teeth to get anyone to respond. I would NOT recommend this company. They nailed through the ceiling several times and the metal edge flashing looks horrible..it is dented, uneven, jagged after they hammered it to fit. It's an eyesore and right above our doors so it's very noticeable. It's been 3 months since they finished but we cannot use the solar because they have not scheduled an inspection despite numerous phone calls and no callbacks. So disappointing for such a big decision and investment. We picked the wrong company. read more

I got solar put on my house this past June and am experiencing money savings from using electricity from solar instead of the grid. I was sold on PG&E rates going up every year and didn't want to pay that. Nicolas Afable was the representative that helped paint a picture of how many panels I needed, where on my roof they were going to be installed, and the potential savings I can have by analyzing my electric bills. The panel installation from the team was efficient, and the supervisor who checked over everything did a great job. I like the app you use to check what percentage of electricity is coming from the solar panels each day, which is usually over 60% in the summer months so far. Every person from this company, from this location, who worked on my house did a great job and will recommend to anyone. read more

I am not in the habit of writing bad reviews for businesses that I deal with, but the people at Semper Solaris have driven me to this. I've now lost count of the number of times they have screwed up with a visit, inspection, or installation having to do with my solar panels. Their MO is to mess things up, and then pass you on to a new representative. Well, I am on rep #5 or 6 now, and it is driving me nuts. Each person will tell you that they are very sorry but, lucky you, they are now on the job and everything will be ok. Then, as always, they mess up -- it's now been multiple inspections where they haven't shown up -- and then they do not have the decency to call or even return your calls. They just pass you along to the next guy. Well I'm sick of it. Take my advice and find someone else. read more

I was impressed with the top-notch level of service we received from Manny at Semper. He was on-time, friendly, professional, and thorough. We had a couple of issues with componentry and slow internet that needed to be ironed out. Manny took the extra steps to keep me informed on what was going on, gave me realistic time-lines, and made extra on-site visits to make sure the system was operating properly. I had Semper Solaris Panels and battery back up installed in October. Then it was wait for the City to inspect. That occurred December 11th. Next and final step is PGE goes over paperwork online, sends a docusign to me and then it's turned on. They said it would be 2-4 weeks. In other words early January. It hasn't happened. Enter Jontai, Semper Solaris customer service. She was outgoing, courteous and very knowledgeable. She checked into it for me, called back when she said she would and has kept me updated right along. Even when she didn't have any information. I still don't have an ok, but I am confident Jontai is on top of it. read more

Where to begin? I will keep it simple. After researching several companies, we went with Semper Solaris. They talked a good game, and sure know how to present themselves to get you behind their mission statement. Well, what should have been a job accomplished in no more than 3 visits in less than a month took 11 visits and several months. It started with the system not producing as promised. This resulted in a crew coming out and replacing some faulty equipment. In so doing, they found workmanship errors from the first crew they had to repair. Well, without boring you, I would find an error (inverter computer not communicating, all panels not registering, weather tight junction boxes NOT being weather tight) and each time a crew came out, they also found other errors from prior repair teams that I had been unaware of. After 11 visits over multiple months, the system finally seems to be working right. NOW, we get to management. At one point upper management was fully admitting the errors were all due to poor communication and poor management at a branch level and that I was a "victim" in this "learning process". Supposedly the entire local management team that handled my original case was replaced. However, shortly after this point, corporate management essentially did a 180 telling me that the errors were all 'cosmetic' only, the system worked as designed since the day it was turned on, and basically that after paying them up front I should be happy they FINALLY figured it out and got it working right. When I pointed out that the system most surely had NOT operated to specs the day it was turned on and took several visits to function at full capacity, their answer was 'We are not responsible for that as it was the parts supplied to us by our vendor that failed'. WHAT?? I, as a consumer, did not choose this vendor or parts! YOU did. I paid you for the project, you installed the parts, and you are who came out when they failed to function. I paid you, Semper Solaris, you ARE responsible to the consumer for the failing of your contracted vendors parts. Well, at least my neighbors saw with their own eyes the fiasco of working with Semper Solaris, and are steering away from working with them. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because at least now the system is finally working right, but what a long and tiring road to get here. Steer clear unless you enjoy long painful projects and needing to ride a company to the very end to make sure they do what they say they will. read more

Not sure about estimate for anual savings as found out later about other anual charges and I continue to use more energy than produced although this is written in January. Semper Solaris is not a good company. It has taken 8 months to get to (almost) completion of our project. Not good follow through or follow up accept when they want money. They do not leave the property cleaned up each night; they left nails in our driveway and mud on the walkways. They left main power service panels open and unattended, creating a number of safety hazards, left service crawl space open and unattended. They would claim that permits were not required but in fact they were. They were uninformed about what the building codes are about pulling wire. They failed on two inspections, finally passed on the third try. They tried to say that the work we wanted was not in the original bid; I had to point out that it was. They uprooted some plants in order to dig a ditch, and those plants were left to die. They even used my own hand tools and didn't put back them back where they found them. Their mission is one that claims always faithful, couldn't find any of that here. I would keep looking for another solar company. Don't use this one. read more

I signed up my roof and solar project on Feb, 23th with Semper Solaris The roof part was done on April., which is not bad! they finished it quickly and neatly. But for the solar installation it's a total different story, To ask for one thing and get an answer, it would take many phone calls and e-mails for someone to respond to me. First of all, no one has told me or gave me an estimated installation date, I had to call and e-mail this nice lady in customer service--Billie Yako several times to get the name and contact info for my project manager- Linda. Then I had to called and e-mail Linda several times for her to respond to my questions and get an installation date--which is July 3rd. (5 months after I signed the contract with them). After my solar panels were installed, again, I had to call several times to find out which day was the City inspection day. And now, I don't know how many calls ( I already called 2 people and e-mailed one and have not gotten any response yet) I need to made to get Semper Sloris to file the application to connect to my local energy company (pg&e) ! My problems with this company is--I never know who in charge of which part of the project--no one ever told me, sometime the persons whom I talked to in their own company does not even know themselves, and whoever you called and e-mailed to try to get information, they don't always respond. I can go on and on about other issues such as billing, financing, trying to get a solar tube installation... but you get the ideas, same story, multiple phone calls, e-mails, no response.... who has so much time to deal with this?? I will admit, I didn't do the normal process of talk to several companies, get bids and decide. As a veteran, I chose immediately to support a veteran owned company. The fact they use Sunpower panels is also nice. I will say that in the beginning the process was rough, and if I had written a review at the time it would have been 3 stars. Initially I was told it would be a few weeks to get the install. Then they discovered I needed a panel upgrade to 125 amps. So it took about 90 days (from the original estimated 30 or so) to get the panels installed then about two weeks after that to get my permission to operate. So, what made the three star experience five stars? Their commitment to making things right, their communication and dedication to customer service. Installing solar is a major project, and hiccups are expected to happen. The way in which Semper Solaris stepped up to make sure I was taken care of is exemplary of how service should be. I am a difficult customer, I micromanage household projects. I want things done perfectly. After all, this is my home. The whole time the crew I was dealing with was professional, courteous and patient. I know they probably dreaded seeing my number show up on their phone, or my e-mail address in their inbox. But through it all, nothing but professionalism and outstanding service. And to me, that's worth more than five stars. So, a shout out to Robert Cassidy, Ernest, Matt (both of ya) and Manny for fixing the issues, making sure I was happy and most of all tolerating me. These guys are great. They may be a bit more expensive, but when I compared the price from Semper to what a friend paid after he upgraded his system to microinverters (which are default with the new Sunpower panels), Semper actually was less. Especially considering that I got the state equivalent rebate and a discount for being a veteran. So now I can run things in my house to my heart's content and not have to worry about that meter. Use Semper Solaris, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a review for an ongoing project. We first contacted semper solaris to begin the project for new solar panels and it started out great. Semper contacted us back and after reviewing the design and signing off on it, the work on the project began quickly. When they were done installing however, we found out the installation crew had diverted from the design we had signed off on and made changes. We contacted semper and they told us that the vents were in the way (which was an issue that they had not addressed through any of the process) and another crew would be out to fix it. Well this week, that crew came out to work on it and left and we assumed they had fixed the vents so the project could move forward. Instead they apparently now needed a plumber. My issue is that throughout this project it has been time consuming, inconvenient and difficult to get in contact with my assigned "project manager". I had to constantly call the bay area office, I was passed around different sections as the representative would say it is another section's responsibility. I was finally able to get a better project manager but still have no clear answer to what and when they will be fixing the issues. We chose semper because of the military background and support they have for service personnel. Mission accomplishment and communication are big requirements for the military and I feel that Semper is lacking this on my project. They had a strong start but are at a really weak finishing on our project. read more

I am 68 years, and wanted a solar for my home, I have known the sales man for some time and he convinced me to buy his product. Semper Solaris products. Agreed for a cash deal for around $ 41,000.00. The salesman will get his commission, he has not answered or returned my phone calls for about 10 days now. While we were doing the remodel i had asked the company to put the Tesla power backup battery in the garage and it was agreed. I also asked the salesman if he wanted me to make any accommodation for solar conduits etc, I was told the company will take care of the issues. Now they will note able to put the equipment in garage , what bunch of jokers The day of installation after the remodel was done; The guys were to order a separate electrical panel..why did no one came to check out the required panels needed and be ordered. As of today no updates and they took a deposit of $33500.00 already and I don't know if i will be getting what i paid for, even the new panel was not ordered for 5-6 months Please friends stay away from this company. I wish I had purchase with other company. They are not worth 1 star read more

We called this company after a botched job in solar installation from a previous contractor. Our system was not up to par and costing us money at reups through PG and E every year. Semper Solaris fixed our problem. This company worked with us to upgrade our existing system with professional service technicians. Their service manager, Manny Rios, traveled out of area to complete our job in one day. He was courteous, professional, and personable in all aspects of the project from the estimate process to job completion. Our expierence with this company was stellar from first call to finished project. I was impressed that this company did not try to sell me a new solar system but simple replacments, and worked with what we had to achieve our power needs. It is difficult to find a company willing to work with another contractors previously installed system. After an inverter upgrade (one of ours was burned out from overload and improper wiring) Manny now has our system in tip top shape, feeding back to the grid, and saving us money. Our experience with Semper Solaris was wonderful and I would highly recommend Tony Ellis and thier staff as a source of professional solar power expertise. If you live in the southern bay area (south San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, or San Benito County) ask Tony to send out Manny Rios. You will not be disappointed in the level of service provided. read more

We were skeptical about going solar for various reasons. Will we own the panels and system? do we get the tax break? etc. The folks at Semper Solaris were very good, patient and answered all of our concerns. We had 3 other Solar company bids, and these guys came in at the most affordable. Once the plans were reviewed by us, based on their engineers rendition of the best possible location and install, the Alpha crew was immediately dispatched to install the panels. The install crew was fast, reliable, professional, and respectful at our home. Big thank you to Talor, Brodin, Indy, and Richy. This review is a no- brainer and no BS. My experience with Semper Solaris was wonderful. Roby came to my home and spent about an hour providing great detail on a solar panel and Tesla Powerwall install option. He was professional, patient and thoughtful and provided great customer service. The detail on pricing and the solar panel options, along with the presentation on the benefits of solar was above and beyond what I was expecting. He quickly showed the proposed design and clearly communicated over email and phone. Unlike Sunrun, who quickly dismissed my home after taking one quick look at it from Google Maps (flat plus Spanish tile roof) and pushed on recommending them to my friends for solar install estimates (they didn't even take the time to ask about my flat roof and what options I had, this was all over the phone by the way), Roby and the customer service folks at Semper Solaris were thoughtful and took the time to assess my solar options. I'm still in the process of reviewing other solar providers, but will say that Semper Solaris's professionalism, follow-up and transparency is top notch and I would highly recommend them as you think about your options for solar. read more

We used Sempre Solaris to uninstall and reinstall our 5 year old solar panels for our reroofing project. The customer service was superb! I corresponded mostly to Tony Ellis, the service manager, regarding the job (contracts, scheduling, etc.) and he was always courteous and helpful. Manny Rios and Broderick were our main technicians working at our house and they were always courteous and respectful and kept great communication with me. They went above and beyond! They warned me about my neighbor's potential fire hazard; they warned me about the nails still left in our yard from the roofing and they even helped picked some up; they provided me with an extra long data cable for the solar monitoring; etc. Hopefully, I won't need to use their services again, but if I do, I will not hesitate to work with Semper Solaris again. I finally decided to post this review after giving it some thought. I originally contacted Semper Solaris in Sept 2019. After several emails, discussions and a quote, the process of getting solar installed began. The contract was signed in early October and the process started, which included the solar panel design layout, site overlay approval, site survey (which is to take measurements, determine materials needed and roof inspection, etc), a bunch of paperwork, permit approvals and finally setting up an install date (which was difficult to get nailed down). There were numerous emails, calls made to discuss the progress and finally got an install date for Jan 24, 2020. The installers finally show up and within 5 minutes of getting onto the roof I get the call that my roof needs to be replaced and they cannot install the solar. Needless to say, I was extremely upset and called Semper Solaris only to be told they would look into it and could give me a roof estimate. Well, they sure did give me a roof estimate of over $17,000!!! I wasted 4 months with calls, emails, providing documents, signing documents, making a$1000 deposit only to finally end up being told it could not be done until my roof was done. I asked them what the "site survey" entailed and they said, "The site survey is done to inspect the integrity of the roof and to ensure installation can be completed to code". I could not get an explanation from them as to what happened with my site survey as I had signed off on their approval of it. I was told about the tax credit I could get in 2019, which will no longer be available in 2020, but things took so long to get done. So, if you're going to deal with this company you will have to make sure that what they say they are doing is factual, especially when things are said to be completed and ready to move onto the next step.
